aside other things are going to happen this next week we're going to push back what happened last week let's focus on what god's gonna do in this house this morning today hallelujah let's give him a don't want to come in this house and just kind of go through the motions there are needs in this place today there are situations in this play that need a touch from god the way that i know how to get ahold of his attention is to bless his name the way that you know how to get his attention is to bless his name hey we've come to magnify the lord he is mighty he is victorious [Applause] everybody it feels good in the house this morning when we think of where we could be and maybe where we should be but we find ourselves in the house of the lord lifting up our hands lifting up our voices in praise and honor to him how many know that god is good how many know that god is a healer today i don't know what needs that you come in this congregation with i don't know your situation but we do know a god who does today whatever you need that you have in this house he is able he is the healer of the mind the body and the spirit let's worship with him in song and let's glorify god you walk with me through fire and heal all my easy i trust in you [Music] i trust in you [Music] you are [Music] you're everything i need [Music] jesus [Music] every moment [Music] oh [Music] [Music] when i can't think of anything else anybody feel that way tonight this morning [Applause] [Music] you're my for how many know that today jesus [Music] this morning that nothing is impossible [Music] are everything god i don't need to turn to anything else i need more of you jesus sing i believe that you're my healer healer of my mind healer of my spirit healer of my body today we serve a god that wants to do great things for us in this house he wants to lift us up he wants to help us it's not an accident that you're here in this house this morning it's by god's design that you got up that you got ready that you walked into the doors hallelujah i believe that with everything within me nothing happens by accident with god we make mistakes we do things that are wrong but god never makes a mistake hallelujah hallelujah we're going to go to prayer right now many needs in the house amen those watching online we welcome you to the service amen only god only knows what your need is today i don't ever want to discount a god that cares about me we believe in duty we believe in just doing things because we know how to do them and we know what to do and we believe that it's right to be faithful and consistent but there's some times where that me doing that falls short of what needs to be done and what needs to be happened and that's when god when i give everything to him he steps in and takes care of situations he can do more in five seconds and i can do a whole lifetime so if you forgive me this morning i believe that he is a healer i believe that he is my portion i believe that he's more than enough i believe that today i wouldn't be here if i didn't believe that got a name here jerry he requests prayer for a job he lost it recently those that are sick in your body those that know someone this morning that need a desperate touch from god whether it's in their mind whether it's something they're battling whether it's home whether it's depression whatever the need is god is able i said god is able he's able he's able he's able those watching online you know what's going on in your home you know family you know situations that seem dire right now i wonder if we could lift our hands all across this house in your home wherever you may be at lift your hands and let's pray unto god let's talk to him for just a few seconds let's praise him let's ask him those that need healing in their body god we believe that you're our healer we believe that you are all-powerful god that you know everything that you see everything there is nothing on this earth that you do not know about there is nothing on this earth that you cannot step in and make a way we believe in your power we believe god we believe if you believe that today why don't you clap your hands unto him [Applause] hallelujah hallelujah you may be seated let's worship brother troy as he sings this morning this song is in celebration of this day pentecost sunday when i had to decide what song to sing this one definitely came to the forefront of my mind and i pray that it will bless you as much as it has blessed me they were all together in one place in an upper room waiting for god's power from on high they were waiting for a promise made not so long ago jesus said that he would set their souls on fire [Music] suddenly the sound of the wind came rushing in and their souls were set aflame to them he gave the power as they called upon his name suddenly i can feel his mighty power suddenly i can feel the change within and i know that i will never ever be the same again you can find what you need at the altar leave behind every weight that presses in for the spirit of the lord he's still moving suddenly never let your heart become troubled no need to be afraid when you feel you don't have strength to carry on there is glory in god's presence this healing in his word he's our anchor and our peace in every storm so my friend call on the lord and trust in him age to age he's still the same for he's a god that hears us and a god that loves us this power in his name [Music] suddenly i can feel his mighty power suddenly i can feel the change within i know that i will never ever be the same again you can find what you need at the altar leave behind every way that presses in for the spirit of the lord he's still moving the spirit of the lord he's still moving thank god the spirit of the lord he's still moving and certainly [Music] come on would you lift those hands up to the lord and give god some praise hallelujah lord we worship you jesus we magnify you lord i wonder i wonder if we can take a moment and and put on paul's everything happening in our lives and everything that is surrounding us and take one moment to recognize how good god has been to us he's been good to me it doesn't matter what's going on on the left or the right god's been good to me hallelujah we're a blessed people hallelujah his mercies are new each and every morning god's been good amen and there's no place we're more blessed than in the house of god amen it's a wonderful thing to come into this house this morning and be with the people of god the spirit of the lord is here and there's no telling what god's going to do before we leave this morning amen amen turn to someone and smile at them and and tell them how blessed it is to see them in god's house amen you may be seated change into some casual attire and to bring some spending money for food and we're going to have a good time also next sunday may the 30th we're going to be having a youth fundraiser it is a service auction so this is an opportunity you need somebody to mow your grass you need somebody to walk your dog or clean your kitchen we're doing it for the glory of god amen that is next sunday in the youth center and we are planning on on having that after the am service also this saturday this this saturday may the 29th there is a girls club activity for girls ages 6 through 11. it starts at 12 noon and goes through 3 p.m there will be games and pizza and it's taking place at the carver street gym the cost is five dollars and don't forget coming up is our memorial day picnic this is on may the 31st we're having a cookout and hamburgers and hot dogs and chips and cookies and it doesn't feel like we go a service without listing all kinds of food that we're going to eat for god's glory man it's going to be a good time popcorn and snow cones bring a chair in any sports equipment you'd like the parking is limited so please carpool as much as possible and if you would like to participate wonderful opportunity to reach the lord today it's good to have crystal snow and her mom beverly she was baptized in late march and crystal was baptized in late march and and we're glad she can be here today it's also good to have trey and michelle stanley with brother tory trammell's parents friends of theirs it's good to have them in the house of the lord and if i've missed anybody and i you're in durham north carolina today to lift up jesus i came to lift up jesus i came to give thanks unto the lord god didn't have to let me live he didn't have to let you live but thank god that he gave you another chance the bible says his mercies are new every morning oh lord great is thy faithfulness anybody thankful he's faithful i'm so glad my god is faithful today praise god praise god amen amen a few quick announcements we've had a wonderful week we have had four brand new people baptized in the name of jesus christ this last week we're excited about that thank the lord for that we've got most of the platform finished and we got our drum cage up and we've got we've got a harness on the sound it's like a cowboy throwing a lasso dropping it on its neck and pulling back and now we can control things a whole lot better so we're not ricocheting all over the place and we've got absorption panels coming and we've got controls and in jesus name we are going to we're just going to keep on having good church amen thank you for your help thank you for to everybody that showed up to help us people that worked so hard people that worked on the platform electricians that worked carpet uh people helped us with carpet and and putting in air-conditioned units it has been a busy week and i'm very thankful for everybody that showed up we tore down and set up the platform i think was it three times something like that and thank you we can't do this without you and the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing and the main things jesus we want to get the sound right but most of all we want to lift up jesus i want somebody walking out of this place touched by the power of god praise god praise god amen amen and tonight tonight if you are able to be with us here can stand with me this morning we're continuing to lift up the alton family their father larry alton passed away we had his funeral yesterday keep them in your prayers because they're going through a time of grief and sorrow so continue to remember them when you pray i want to lift up god's people and encourage god's people when when one part of the body is feeling pain the whole body feels that pain so you're not alone in what you're going through there's a church here there's a god in heaven that sees it amen amen by the macy and sister sarah it's good to have you back home god bless you newlywed we're glad you're in church this morning it's good to see you guys had a wonderful wedding last week beautiful couple god's been so good he's been so good if you've got your bibles i want you to turn with me to song the song of solomon chapter four tuesday night we got into some good stuff and i don't think god's finished with us just yet i want i want god to have free course in my life now some people say that but when he does it they say oh whoa wait hold on not that i've got some reserved things for you over here but don't touch these things i really care about but i don't want that i want god to do whatever god needs to do and because it's pentecost sunday when when brother when brother troy began to sing and when the worship team began to sing i was astonished at the at the songs that they chose because they didn't know what i was going to preach and i i did not know they were going to sing those songs so that's what i'm looking at as i read this portion of scripture song of solomon chapter 4 and verse 16. this is what it says awake o north wind and come thou south blow upon my garden that the spices thereof may flow out let my beloved come into his garden and eat his pleasant fruits awake o north wind and come thou south tuesday night we talked about the wheat we talked about the chaff and we touched on the wind but i'm not just going to touch on it today i'm going to dive head first into it this morning because i want the wind to blow i want the wind to blow in this service i want it to blow across people's hearts i want the holy ghost to do whatever it wants to do in my spirit amen and so this morning i'm talking to you about the wind the wind god bless you you can be seated the setting here in the song of solomon is a garden it is a place of planting it is a place a fruitfulness it is an example of a spirit filled life and god the writer is inviting god into his life to be happy with what is in his garden my life is supposed to be a garden your life is supposed to be a garden some people more of a weed patch but god some people a little bit more of a thorn bush but god is interested in a garden anybody ever met a thorn bush before i've met a few in my day there's a reason why god put adam in the garden to tend it to be what the bible calls a husband man a husbandman or a keeper of the garden and when man sinned the bible says the ground brought forth thorns and it brought forth thistles it's an example of sin it's an example that now the ground is cursed now you're going to have to work by the sweat of your face you're going to have to work the ground and when a person is letting the holy ghost move through them it develops what's called the fruit of the spirit so i want god to come into the garden today it's hard work tending a garden it's not easy raising up productivity and fruitfulness everybody wants the land that flows with milk and honey but you've got to be a bee and you've got to be a cow because the idea is productivity god wants to change me from a consumer to a producer god wants to change me from the thorns of the wilderness to the garden of the lord man lost his purpose in a garden when adam and eve ate of the fruit sin came into the world and man regained his purpose in the garden when jesus said not thy will not my will but thy will be done it happened in a garden because the setting is a garden we are to be a garden there are weeds in gardens there there is rooting and there is grounding and there's tending and there's pruning and there's tilling and they're sowing have you ever wondered why there's so many agricultural metaphors in the bible it all has to do with the garden even down to who we marry because we're not supposed to be unequally yoked because if you're unequally yolked you can't plow a straight furrow in this garden and i plan on my life i want to plant this way and i want to plant this way and i want to plant and if you're unequally yoked one's pulling that way and one's pulling that way and you're tearing up the ground and you're trying to raise up children but you can't go the way you want to go because the yoke won't let you and it all comes back to the agricultural metaphor of the garden god blow over my garden i want god to blow in church this morning amen i'm i'm glad you're here we're glad i hope you enjoy the building i hope you like the architecture i hope you like the new platform we got to we praise god we got to we got to uncover the steps and put them on the sides we thought we were doing a new thing and we uncovered the old steps amen i think they told me brother moses what he he said you like the steps and one of the men said those aren't steps you built those are the steps by the goder built about 30 years ago we just put a new little new carpet on top of them we just kept on having revival amen there's nothing new under the sun so i'm glad i hope you enjoy that i hope you enjoy seeing your friends i hope you're here for fellowship i i hope i hope you're you enjoy the music and the singing but if the wind doesn't blow if the spirit doesn't move then then we're just occupying space we're just going through a formality we're just going through the motions i didn't come to play church the devil's not playing hell so i can't play church i'm fighting for the lives of my children and i'm fighting for the lives of my grandchildren and i'm fighting for my marriage and i'm fighting for my own sanity so it's time to let the wind blow it's time to let the holy ghost move it's time to blow over this garden god and do with it what you want to whoo praise god have your way jesus indeed by the choice suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting praise god praise god the wind bloweth where it listeth and thou hearest the sound thereof can't not tell whence it cometh and whither it goeth the bible says thou hearst the sound that that sound is phonos in greek it's the same word that you get phone telephone cell phone phonics hooked on phonics it's where you get those phonos words from it means sound and that word wind is pneuma and it's the same root that's in pneumonia and it's the same root that's in pneumatic if you have a pneumatic drill or a pneumatic air compressor tool if you have a some kind of a air driven thing it is pneumatic and there's great power in the wind i need to say that because somebody needs to know that there's great power in the wind you've been digging holes with your shovel but you need to let the holy ghost come in and give you some air power and god can straighten your life out faster with the holy ghost than you can with human effort harness the power of the wind [Applause] the bible said who has gathered the wind in his fist i've got a god that knows how to harness the power of the wind we need churches that harness the power we need songs that harness the power we need we need some prayer warriors that know how to get out of just saying words and know how to get into the spirit know how to get into the wind and harness mountains move when i call your name it happens when you learn how to harness ah it's sunday morning i didn't plan to start this fast but when the holy ghost starts moving and the holy ghost starts blowing [Applause] well it's sunday morning brother ursian can the holy ghost move on sunday morning you better believe it there's strong holy ghost engines that start churning when people start calling on the name of jesus the wind so the pneuma blows wherever it wants to and thou hearst the phonos thereof and so if you if you're trying to control all aspects of your life you're not going to understand the holy ghost you can't control the wind i've tried i had a plan to go fishing and the wind kicked up and the forecast showed rain i thought well i'm a son of god god rebuked the wind and the baths are spawning and the bluegill are on the beds this is the only day i've got to go so peace be still [Applause] brother newton i learned on that day that i am not jesus christ [Applause] that wind came and blew my little house down messed my whole fishing trip up and i just sat inside just looking out the window you can't stop the wind you can't control the wind and if you are bent on control and if you are built on controlling your life you're going to have a hard time getting the holy ghost your life is going to be filled with what how why uh uh no way that that's just not well how's that work you go you do what when you come to an apostolic church and you see somebody start getting moved by the holy ghost it's not driven by logic it's driven by faith it's driven by the holy ghost this is not an exercise in rhetoric this is a wind-driven thing and it just starts moving you you don't even understand the wind you know you'll be sitting there outside in a field somewhere the wind will blow and all of a sudden windmills start turning they're they're carefully positioned to catch the wind and when they catch the wind they harness the wind amen and there's people in apostolic church services you won't even understand you just think somebody's singing a song you don't know how to harness the wind but somebody has had a prayer life somebody has been touched by the holy ghost they've got their arms outstretched and all of a sudden what are they doing oh they're just positioned to catch it you don't understand that that's the holy ghost you don't know what that is that's the holy ghost that's the same stuff that blew over the waters in genesis chapter one [Applause] that's the same stuff that blew over ezekiel's valley that's the same stuff that caught elijah up in a world where that's the same stuff that came down on the day of pentecost it blows wherever it wants to you got a little bit of wind inside you i know some guys got a lot of wind inside of them i don't want to be a wind bag i want to be appraiser but i've got a little bit of that pneuma in me and so if you have a problem with your lungs you have pneumonia it's a problem with air it's a problem with your respiratory but i've got a little bit of i've got a little bit of air in my lungs and the bible tells us what to do with it now before i tell you what you're supposed to do it let me tell you what you're not supposed to do with it you're not supposed to cuss your neighbor you're not supposed to gossip that's not why he gave you breath you're not supposed to smoke weed there's a young man in here needs to hear that right now you need to put down that pipe and you need to pick up that bible in the name of jesus and you need to give god glory today because he said let everything that hath breath praise the lord praise ye the lord praise him with the timber and dance praise him with the stringed instruments and organs use the pneuma that he put inside of you amen hallelujah fill the atmosphere with that spirit the bible says of god that he breathed on man the breath of life and man became a living soul and when you say hallelujah you're just contributing just a little bit of wind into this atmosphere you're letting a little bit of pneuma now i can't do a lot with just my pneuma but i can do what i'm going to do but if i can get somebody to get up next to me then there's just a little bit more pneuma than there was before and if i can get a third person a fourth person if i can get about a hundred people over here and about a hundred people over here by the time it's all said and done suddenly there'll come a sound from heaven like a rushing body with if you'll start it god will finish it somebody needs to learn how to praise your way out of your problem praise your way out of your predicament praise your way out of your circumstance unfold your arms move your feet clap your hands all ye people it's all about the pneumatic i think it changes things i know it changes things there's a reason why people want to go to pentecostal churches you might have come in thinking you were coming to a circus but you didn't know you were coming into a place where the breath of god breathed over people breathed over broken things breathed over piles of dead bones can these bones live prophesy to those bones can these bones live prophesy to the wind to the north and the south and the east and the west god will make the dead bones of your marriage come back together god will put the dead bones of your children back together god will put the dead bones of your hopes and dreams breathe breathe over my garden awake oh north wind and blow oh south wind let the spices of my garden let it flow out come into my garden praise god oh praise god i read a newspaper article where a little boy was i believe if memory serves he was seven years old he was on his way home from school and a van pulled up next to him the door slammed open and every mother's worst nightmare happened a man leapt from the van and grabbed the boy yanked him into the van slammed the door and took off and no one saw it you don't know what's going to happen in life the man in the van tied that little boy up placed him in the back and he began to drive to god knows where and there in the backseat the little boy began to cry his mother had warned him about dangerous people and we're living in a world where unfortunately these perils and these dangers are everywhere but his mom was the church choir director and in the back seat he'd always heard her say that when you're in trouble praise god and in the back seat he just lifted up that little voice and just saying what they sang last sunday and he's saying there is power in the name of jesus there is power this was in the newspaper this happened in the name of jesus i know there's power i'm talking about pneuma i'm talking about holy ghost in the name of jesus to break every chain break every chain break every chain the man said stop that don't don't do that and the little boy said there's an army rising up i know there's an army rising up he wouldn't stop he kept on and after about 30 minutes the man stopped the van slammed on the brakes cut the tape off the boy let him go and said i'm out and let the boy go that happened in atlanta georgia now what happened i don't know but the wind blows where it listed and when you find yourself in an impossible circumstance you better open your mouth and start calling on the name of the lord whoever calls upon the name of the lord shall be saved don't sit there with your arms folded don't sit there like a skeptic don't sit there and enjoy the show but let it go open your mouth deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy water spouts you don't need a formal church you need a holy ghost church that knows how to call the wind praise god praise god blow over my garden oh god [Applause] i can feel it i can just feel a little current i can't tell exactly where it's going but i can see it just touching people i see windmills starting to turn i i see things starting to be affected somebody needs to adjust their sails praise god praise god praise god [Music] awake oh wind that's what happens when somebody figures out how to praise god hallelujah come on awake oh wind awake your praise awake your thanksgiving are you dormant are you are you quiet are you tepid awake a wind i'm not sure what to do in a pentecostal church open your mouth the bible said lift up your head oh ye gates and be ye lifted up the everlasting doors the gates and the doors are your eyes and your ears and your mouth they're the gates and the doors of this body lift up your head o ye gates be lifted up ye everlasting doors open your mouth glorify god why because the king of glory shall come in it's an old testament way of saying you'll get the holy ghost god will fill you with the holy ghost [Applause] that's why that's how everyone is born of the spirit so is everyone well so are a few who only get the gift so are just a few but not everybody no so is everyone that is born of the spirit you're going to hear the sound thereof so is everyone when you receive the holy ghost you're going to speak with other tongues you're going to hear the phonos you're going to hear the sound thereof and let me tell you what that is ladies and gentlemen that is the second coming of the breath of god when god breathed on adam that was the first time adam sinned and death came but the second time on the day of pentecost god refilled them with that breath they were born again of the water and of the spirit not my mind my mind you ever noticed that the bible says that god breathed upon adam uh the breath of life he became a living soul and adam began to name the creatures god breathed on him and he spoke that's what happens when you get the holy ghost god breathes on you and you speak you speak life it's the spirit by which we cry abba father that's the wind it's the holy ghost and here's what the bible says about it it says it's so radical that people sold their land and brought the money and laid it at the apostles feet they burned all of their sinful possessions all of their their witchcraft all of their things from their former life they they came they they begin to testify they begin to tell everybody what could cause somebody to behave so radically i promise you it wasn't just a mental acceptance it wasn't a quiet little moment at a table somewhere with a bowed head but there was something radical that happened to them it was a lighting on fire it was a a blowing of a powerful rushing wind the bible said it would be the rest where with you may cause the weary to rest and then it says yet they wouldn't hear yet they would not hear we focus on the stammering lipstick of the tongue we focus on wean from the milk and drawn from the breast we we focus on line upon line preset upon precept but but sometimes you need to look at that last stanza yet they would not hear because the great trait of this age is skepticism and doubt the bible says of men it says i will that they lift up holy hands and the two traits of men have to be sacrificed the first trait is wrath you got to get rid of the wrath lift up holy hands without wrath you got to lay down your hatred you got to lay down your prejudice you got to lay down your strong opinions you got to lay down your male ego you got to lay down your aggression i know you're the big man and i know you're the big cheese but you got to lay it down in the presence of the king of kings and the lord of lords lift up holy hands without wrath and doubting you gotta lay that skepticism down you gotta lay that criticism down you gotta lay down that unbelief because if you're gonna lift up holy hands you got to get rid of your doubt because you'll never control the wind brother you'll never control the supernatural working of the holy ghost and if you try to control it you're going to miss god [Applause] i don't want to miss god the desire to control means you're still the king of your life you're still the dictator of your life you've got to not only make jesus christ your christ which is your anointed one but you've got to make him your lord he's not just my christ he is both lord and christ you can't ask for his anointing and not submit to his authority my god come on sir submit to the wind let the wind blow that's the problem with your marriage let the wind blow that's why you can't control your imagination let the wind blow that's why your life is in chaos because you gotta you gotta awake the north wind and let the south wind blow i feel it can you feel that right there you feel that pressure right there on your chest what am i feeling some people say that's emotion some people say that preacher's too dramatic it's not drama and it's not theatrics that's the holy ghost awake awake oh north wind north wind you mean there's kinds of winds i'm speaking prophetically right now to somebody if you don't allow god to blow over your life you are going to miss what he wants to do not generically in this service right now i came to wake up the wind i came to wake up the wind to blow over your dry land jesus help me to say it ah i don't have an answer for what this is right now i'm just telling you i can feel i'm tapping into the holy ghost as i speak these words and i'm talking [Applause] god knows how to wake up the wind hear me he knows how to wake up the wind [Music] the bible says blessed is the man who walks not to counsel the ungodly stands in the way a sinner sits in the seat of scornful his delight is in the law of the lord in this law that he meditate day and night he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water it brings forth fruit and seeds and his leaves shall not wither whatsoever he does shall prosper the ungodly are not so but unlike the chaff which the wind driveth away the wind is gonna prove what you are god's going to wake up the wind the wind is going to prove the hypocrite the wind is going to prove the half-hearted the wind is going to prove the sincere awake oh north wind there's people sitting here right now you're living a double life you think nobody knows you can't stop this wind god will bring a wind god the chaff blows away when the master tosses the grain in the air the grain comes back down but the wind blows the chaff if you are not meant to stay in a year from now you won't be here in five years from now you will not be here because you're not the wheat and you never were but if you made up in your mind i'm going into his barn he's going to gather me he's going to take me home [Applause] win you feel it i feel it there's a wind blowing across the united states of america right now there's a wind blowing and there's people being pulled by that wind you've got friends that are doing things you never dreamed they would do you've got family members doing you've got places that said they were churches until the wind started blowing because there is a north wind there is a north wind it's a cold wind it's a wind that comes from the north and god will allow it to blow over your life it's it's a wind of judgment it's a wind of judgment whenever the invaders of israel came god said they will come from the north they will be swifter than eagles they will be stronger than lions and they will come from the north he was referencing syria he was assyria he was referencing babylon but to god it was a wind and they were fierce and they were powerful and they came from the north god knows how to allow a north wind to blow and he'll shake up everything in your life judgment will come it will come i want to speak to every person that is half-hearted in this building give your whole heart to god you're not winning you're not you're not winning the game you're not going to beat satan you're not going to escape god the wind will blow and it will find you well i fooled pastor ursian i fooled bishop go there i fooled so and so but god knows how to make the wind blow and that wind will find you and listen listen the bible says if you sow the wind you'll weep the whirlwind now whirlwind that's don't let don't get lost in that old english word that doesn't just mean a slightly stronger wind it means a tornado when when when god took elijah away it took him away in a whirlwind it literally means a tornado like a freight train came through and elisha sat there stunned as this dark cumulonimbus cloud comes down to earth a funnel and it caught him up it was a tornado the bible says of job as he complained that finally after 40 some chapters uh 30 some chapters of complaints and meandering and wandering god spoke to job out of the tornado god knows how to speak to you god will get your attention i have i've dealt with mockers my whole life i've dealt with the haughty and the proud who were too sophisticated to come down into this little world of pentecost but god knows what to do with naamans and he knows what to do with jezebel's and he knows what to do with the ishmaels he'll cause a north wind to blow oh hallelujah i i knew a man a wealthy man he was a businessman he made more money than most men i've ever met in my life he lived in a fancy house he had a gated entryway he drove the fanciest cars and he went to the club the country country club church and my father met him and they formed a friendship but when it came time to come to the little pentecostal church he went oh well i'll go to my church you go to your church i don't i don't associate with those kind of people who who what kind of people people who catch the wind people the fishermen the the tax collectors the harlots the publicans those people the ones that jesus died for and and he sat there in his ivory tower and he looked and he he was nice but it was a very condescending patronizing thing and we'd talk and i was little nathan at the time i probably was 19 and he was very very condescending when we talk he was nice but there was a reserved reservedness to it it was always a lecture it was always from a position of superiority i didn't know what to call it then i know what to call it now but god caused the north wind to blow it started with pains in his abdomen and when he went to get it tested he found out he had stage four colon cancer and when the doctor said two years you've got two years is there anything i can do no it's pierced the wall of the colon it's in your blood it's already gone through your whole body you've got two years enjoy the time with your family make the most of it because i'll see you back here in two years he went on an all vegetarian diet he he went from 275 pounds to about 150 pounds he began to juice he he he thought holistically he could do it when that didn't work then he he went to the radiation and the chemo it didn't work and the man who wouldn't darken the doorway of a pentecostal church started coming and sitting on the back row head bowed a shadow of his former self all of his friends had forsaken him and now it was just him and a holy god god knows how to speak out of the whirlwind god knows how to cause a cold north wind to blow across your garden he knows how to bring the nebuchadnezzar's down he knows how to to deal with the artaxerxes of the world he knows what to do with the caesars and the herods he'll cause a north wind to blow yeah i wasn't long after i had returned from bible college i went to visit him a week before he died we had baptized him in jesus name and he sat there in his bed he said now what do i got to do he said i got to get this holy ghost don't i and i said joe it's not that you have to thank god you get to and i read acts chapter 2 where suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind it filled all the house cloven tongues like as a fire didn't sat on a couple of them only a few people who had the gift of tongues but it sat upon each of them and they were oh filled with the holy ghost and begin to speak with other tongues i'll never forget that wealthy man reduced to a shell struggle with his pride and say i don't know how to do that and i said you become like a child like how he literally couldn't find his way and two days later in the middle of the night we got a phone call and joe was speaking in tongues three days later he was dead oh my what kind of a story is that that's what happens when god calls us a north wind to blow i want god to do whatever god's got to do in my life in my life i had a friend i had a friend i i was reminded of the other day we were driving down the highway my wife and i and i saw a man changing a tire he was laid down on flat on the highway inches from semi-trailers changing attire and i saw that i went jesus keep your hand on him i say that because i had a friend named andrew in bible college andrew was first generation he received the holy ghost he would dance he would shout he would talk in tongues and i would remember he would get up and testify in chapel service and they would say well andrew what kind of prayer request you got he said pray for my family that whatever god needs to do he'd save them pray for my family that they'd get the same holy ghost i got when you pray those kind of prayers god hears those prayers the summer came we went home a couple weeks later i got news andrew's dead he stopped to help a lady halfway between stockton and san francisco on the side of the highway to change the tire a woman killed him andrew died full of the holy ghost it sounds like a tragic story but but i'm telling you that life and death is in the hand of god and andrew's entire family came to his funeral and in that funeral the holy ghost swept across that congregation and people stood to their feet and began to speak in tongues and glorify god and while that happened the holy ghost started filling family members one by one by one by one blow blow across my garden whatever you got to do god whatever you got to do blow in my life blow i'll give myself i'll give my heart i'll give whatever i gotta do and sometimes it's a cold wind [Applause] but it's what happens when you awake the north wind praise god it's got to happen you've got to let god blow across your life you've got to let god have free course across your life if you're going to have a garden there's going to be the north there's going to be the south did you know there was a south wind they see there's there's kinds of winds the bible says there's a south wind and it tells you what it is it's a wind of deception there's a deceptiveness why do you say that brotherhood because it's in acts 27 in acts 27 the bible says that when paul they were preparing to sell to my leader that that they left in a boat and supposing that the wind blew softly they embarked and they got out just far enough for urocheladon the great wind it was a hurricane that struck the waters and there there they began to fight for their life it was where the ship broke up it was where they almost died it was where people began to throw things overboard it was some of the powerful miracles of the book of acts and it started with a south wind blowing softly there will be times in your life where the wind will blow softly and it will push you in a direction it will push you it will influence you it will move you because these are spiritual forces and the devil's a master of deception and he's the prince and the power of the air and he knows how to blow softly in your life pornography blows softly worldliness blows softly temptation is a soft thing it comes on so subtly and so quietly seducers male and female they both just gently move in and they just start moving you in a certain direction be careful when the south wind starts blowing because supposing supposing you can fall into the trap of supposing i suppose that was the love of my life i suppose they had all the answers i suppose they were the coolest thing i've ever met i suppose they knew what they were talking about be careful about the suppositions of your life because it'll get you out just far enough for the hurricane to kick in there's a deception there's a deception when when when men and women begin to dress like one another like began to happen in the 1940s it blew softly it blew softly and people said what's the big deal this is nothing oh you're making some you're such a stick in the mud you're so old-fashioned you pharisee you're a strict church not knowing that it was blowing us right into your rock light on and now now you see why god put it in the word of god it blows so softly it seems so insignificant it's just a gentle nudge in this direction and your boat just begins to meander that way it begins to drift and there's a lot of people that drift they're not moving with purpose and all the while apostolic preachers were preaching don't do it don't do that the word of god says yes what they were doing was they were charting their course by the heavens the heavens tell us that our boat is supposed to be like this but the waves and the currents were drifting people all the way towards the other side it blew softly until now 80 years later we are in the fight of our life and the united states of america is now at stake and the future of our children and grandchildren is a markedly different future than you ever thought it would be be careful when the wind blows softly be careful when it feels like it's not a very big deal be careful musicians can come talking about the wind i'm talking about the holy ghost i want him to blow over my life you're gonna go through times precious people of god if i had the time i'd like to talk a little bit about about the other winds the bible says that there was an east wind an east wind blew locusts into egypt the bible says moses stretched out as rotten an east wind blew and it blew locusts and it blew plague it blew judgment it blew calamity god knows how to bring calamity into a person's life and it comes from one direction but then the bible says that when moses called on the lord god rose up a west wind and he blew it out into the red sea god knows how to bring it and he knows how to send it but it is all dependent upon the moving of the holy ghost what are you saying mother earth i'm saying there's nothing more powerful than a praying church there's nothing more powerful than people that know how to set their sails i don't know exactly where i'm going but the wind is blowing this way so let me catch this let me catch this [Applause] hallelujah if you don't think the wind has power look at a tsunami look at the waves and the power that they harness mariners will tell you that's the wind and if you think that one little decision can't make a difference the bible says the wicked are raging waves of the sea foaming out their own shame driven with the wind and with the tempest and tossed with every wind of doctrine [Music] and you might think you get away with it one time but that's just the first wave and then there's a second wave those waves never stop they never stop and you've done it 50 times you've done it 100 times you've but eventually there's going to be a typhoon there's going to be something that sweeps away the good and the decent and listen to me hear me here's the danger it'll get your children it'll get your grandchildren you'll set in motion things that you think you can control but no man can control the wind i want the holy ghost to have his way in my life let's lift our hands in this place awake o north wind and blow o south hallelujah there's been a lot of north winds come to fpc and there's been a lot of south winds but the garden of the lord is blowing out into the city of durham it's it's spices come into my garden and eat my pleasant fruits oh god come and find the fruit of the spirit come and find the righteousness and the integrity hallelujah you're the husbandman of my life you're the keeper of my soul you're the one who watches over me blow over my spirit hallelujah lift your hands lift your voice i'm opening this altar let it blow into your heart let it blow into your spirit lit it thank god for the day that it blows into your family that it blows into your relationships awake awake away go northwind move holy ghost move over my the lord for he is good [Music] it was late on a sunday night i i saw an example of the moving of the holy ghost i i don't know if i ever i could never adequately depict what happened but a young lady burst through the doors of the back of the church in fort myers florida and she said pastor pastor please come my brother's got a devil for all of the atheists out there that say that there's no god faith doesn't just mean you believe in god it means you believe in devils too and i've seen many people who have come face to face with devils and we did that night the young man had attended church previously he was at a party there was probably a hundred kids there it was a house party they had kegs they had music thumping and the devils inside of him finally roared out of him he scared everybody in that place they ran he became like a maniac he fell out in the front yard laughing cursing and voices coming out of him he scraped the pavement until his fingernail splintered backwards he drank rainwater from the puddles he was bleeding from where he was throwing his body around and he would laugh and then he would sob and he would cry he used to be a sunday school boy when i pulled up in my car there was a there was a crowd of about a hundred kids surrounding him like he was a circus scene and i'll never forget when my feet hit the ground he was probably 50 yards away i heard a shriek come up from the middle of that crowd and this voice came out it was half his voice half something else and he said there's no physical way you could have seen me through that crowd it was 10 o'clock at night pitch black but i heard a scream that said pastor orson's here now you could hear the murmur through the crowd and i walked the crowd parted and there he was laughing and crying and rolling in the mud i knelt down next to him and i said what's going on son he said he said you tried to tell me pastor but i thought i could control it i played with sin when you told me not to he said and now i don't control it they control me and the voice cursed me deep and guttural i i can't explain it to you here on sunday morning you had you you just had to have encountered that and i prayed with him for an hour in the mud and he would cry out and curse me and then he would cry and say help me help me and i prayed in the name of jesus and finally at the end of an hour he went limp in my arms and started speaking in tongues [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and so don't come to me with your new ideologies and telling me that i'm doing this wrong and i don't know what i'm talking about i've already faced that and you've come too late to tell me the name of jesus doesn't have power [Applause] so i'll close with this he he his mother approached with a denominal preacher he was coming to help [Music] it's like showing up when the fight's already over oh you're gonna hang back and let me do this okay and he leaned over to me he said keep her away from me pastor she's the reason why i got off track she carried me from church to church to church church hopping and encouraged me to never be faithful to the truth and i got into drug dealing because i didn't have the power to resist when she pulled me from your grasp well if you knew his mom there wasn't no stopping her she came up with that preacher he knelt down next to the young man i'm holding the young man he kneeled down next to him and he said can i help you son and the young man i say young man he was 6'4 280 pounds he said do you know acts 2 38. and the man said well of course i know acts 2 30 and the guy the young man said quote and the preacher said well i can't quote it right here and the young man said you're not a preacher get out of here now i'm covered in mud i'm laying on the ground but in my spirit i went my man [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] because i know who controls the wind in his fists i know who can call from the north and the south and the east and the west and i know who can position things just like they need to be praise god praise god praise god let's give the lord a handclap of praise brother newton amen come dismiss us with a word of prayer i love brother newton praise god praise the lord church amen and i love the pastor [Music] lord have mercy god's good to us that god's been good to us amen to setting to hear this kind of preaching god's good to us amen amen amen let's pray and be dismissed lord we thank you for your goodness thank you for your mercy o god thank you lord that you love us and allow us to come into your house and to fill your spirit and to be with your people and to hear your man of god we thank you for it lord and we ask god that you would go with us and keep us lord until we return this afternoon lord to once again enjoy the
