I remember the moment I heard about this. Was Christmastime and having dinner with an old family friend. He asked if I had heard the news about the tsunami and said early estimates were 10,000 people killed. I said thatβs impossible it mustβve been a huge wave to kill 10,000 people.
So incredibly sad that it was 20x worse than what I could imagine
It was a tsunami, not a tidal wave, was is not?
Literally shook the world. The Earth is still wobbling from that quake.
"Could it happen again?"
yeah, it did.

No. A wave caused by an earthquake or landslide would be a tsunami.
I wonder if there is a decent computer simulation of the Banda Aceh wave as it hit, etc. It shouldn't be too difficult to do these days.
