βExtra. Extra. Read all about it!β
Iβve not heard that in a very long time.
I predate the internet being publicly available. To be honest, I predate computers in the home being a thing. I always knew this.
Are there still even paperboys?
Ah yes, I do recall going to school/work in the morning and seeing the newspapers on the stands then seeing updated ones on the way to work.
Haven't seen a newspaper in a while though. I guess I could count our community gazette.
Is that like breaking news now days?
Wow. On a whim I started to watch this. I ended up watching the whole thing. I learned a lot. Thank you for posting this. Amazing how things work these days.
I have the "Extra" paper from the Seattle Times and the Seattle PI from 9/11/2001. If I remember correctly it is the first Extra printed since Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
Have you ever heard of "extra edition"? Paperboys would get a second shift around 5 pm when people were getting out of work if major news was in play. The small, ten or so leaf prints included major things from today that would be in detail in the morning edition, usually with many corrections from the hilariously inaccurate sources they conjured. Evening TV news made them redundant.
Now news is instant and the papers are the last to know.
