Taker saying that Bret probably would've been more willing to drop the belt to him and then he could lose it to Shawn later was something I never considered.
undertaker is 200x more believable to listen to that 99% of other wrestlers. he takes time to think about his answers. when he isnt sure, he doesnt seem like hes just looking for the first convenient answer and you can tell he genuinely thinks about what he is going to say before he says it. He also isnt coming across like he is only doing these interviews for personal gratification or to tarnish other people.
I have much more reason to believe the opinion and tales of this man than I do people like kevin nash/hulk hogan or even bret hart
It's so cool hearing Undertaker's version of all of these events now.
Bret would never have taken the belt to WCW.
If he'd done that, it would've been akin to dismissing all his achievements in WWF. One thing we know about Bret, is he takes his career very seriously (too much so, in some people's opinion). Why would he, in essence, maim the thing he cares most about?
He wouldn't, is why. This whole element of the story is just what Vince had to tell himself to justify doing business.
I donโt understand why it keeps being said that Vince was afraid that Bret would show up on Nitro with the belt. That would never have happened. There had already been a lawsuit over the womenโs belt being thrown in the trash (as well as lawsuits over the Flair belt angle in 1991), and it was well established that it wouldnโt happen again.
Plus, I believe Bret was still under contract with the WWF through the December IYH PPV, which was the show that Vince and Bret had agreed that heโd lose the belt.
Other than that, itโs cool to hear Taker open up and talk about the behind the scenes stuff.
This pretty much confirms what I suspected, that Vince gave Bret the opportunity to take a poke at him.
Odd that Taker says Vince was already on his way to talk to Bret. The story we always heard was that Vince holed up in his office and Taker came and got him out.
Fuck Vince McMahon, seriously.
Thank god he's here to finally reveal what happened that day !
