now that the 1.4.4 update has been out for a good bit now I think we can now confidently say that we know everything that you can do with Shimmer while I already have a video on my channel going over some of Shimmer's features just like the name States I made that right after the 1.4.4 update came out so there were still some features that ended up being discovered after I uploaded it and some changes and small updates since then that's why in today's video I'll be going over everything you need to know about Shimmer before you start messing around with Shimmer you first need to know how you can get your hands on it the easiest way to start using Shimmer is to find your Aether biome which will spawn underground near the ocean on the side of your world with the jungle biome on it this biome will only spawn on World's made in version 1.4.4 and up but if you don't want to make a new world for it you're in luck if you get a bottomless water bucket and 10 luminite bars you will be able to craft a bottomless Shimmer bucket at an ancient manipulator now that we have it let's first look at the movement part of it since that can end up being one of the most useful features if you use it correctly jumping into a pool of Shimmer will make you no clips straight into the ground until you reach the next open space big enough to hold you while you can take fall damage if the first open space you reach is too large you can use Shimmer to easily get around in caves by skipping layers and safely avoiding enemies in the more open areas you can use this to make safe runes that enemies can't catch you in safer areas to hold NPCs in and much more now you will quickly realize that Shimmer will force you into that no clip pretty fast so if you're wanting to avoid that you can wear the chromatic cloak which will give you the ability to choose when you want to know clip by pressing down when in Shimmer to get this cloak you will need to throw a star cloak in a pool of shiver where it will then pop out as a chromatic cloak next we will take a look at all of the upgrades you can get using Shimmer starting with the permanent player upgrades with the first one being the vital Life Crystal which will permanently upgrade your player's Health regeneration by 20 after consumed which can be obtained by throwing a life Crystal into a pool of Shimmer after that throwing a Mana Crystal into a pool of Shimmer will change it into an Arcane Crystal which will boost Mana regeneration after that throwing a life Fruit into Shimmer will turn it into an Aegis fruit which will permanently boost your defense by four next throwing any fruit into Shimmer will turn it into Ambrosia which will permanently increase your player's Mining and building speed by five percent after that throwing a golden worm into Shimmer will turn it into a gummy worm which will permanently increase your fishing Power by three and finally you can throw a pink pearl into Shimmer to get a Galaxy Pearl which will permanently increase your character's luck by 0.03 percent moving to permanent upgrades that don't affect you directly but will have effects on your world starting with the advanced combat techniques which will permanently increase your NPC's defense by six and their attack by 20. and finally throwing the Peddler's hat into a pool of Shimmer will make it turn into the Peddler Satchel which will permanently increase the amount of items the traveling Merchant can sell by one now that we've covered all of the permanent upgrades we will start taking a look at the item upgrades that are available firstly any craftable item will pop back up as the materials used to craft it which allows you to constantly decraft and then recraft your items to change the modifiers for free moving on to the actual items that have upgrades now throwing the contaminator into Shimmer will make it turn into the terraformer which upgrades its stats after that if you throw a rod of Discord into Shimmer it will pop back out as the rod of Harmony which allows you to teleport anywhere with no cooldown next throwing an enchanted Sundial into Shimmer will turn it into an enchanted Moon dial which will Fast Forward time to dust after that if you throw an angel statue into a pool of Shimmer it will pop back out as an Aether monolith which will make your game look like the Aether bio next by throwing regular or hellstone arrows into Shimmer you will get Shimmer arrows and the same thing goes for the regular and blue flare which will give you Shimmer flares finally throwing torches into Shimmer will make them into Shimmer torches and the same goes for the regular campfire which will turn into an Aether campfire next we will be taking a look at what the critters NPCs and enemies all change into once they touch shiver starting with the critters they will all turn into failings unless the Critter is an ore bunny or squirrel in which case they will turn into their respective oars moving on to enemies all slimes will transform into Shimmer slimes after that all of the zombies will turn into specific skeletons like the armored slime zombie turning into the bone throwing skeleton and finally each of the NPCs will turn into their second forms which you won't see anywhere else in the game that's all of the big section topics about Shimmer you need to know about so now I'll be covering some more things you need to know about that don't fit into any of the topics I mentioned above and aren't big enough for their own sections firstly touching Shimmer in the snow biome while an expert or Master mode will give your player the chilled effect which will reduce the player's speed after that certain enemies will just turn invisible when they get into Shimmer but they are still there and can still hurt you on the note of creatures and Shimmer anything spawning from statues will just despawn once it touches Shimmer next there are five items that actually actually won't decraft when thrown into Shimmer which are the blizzard in a bottle health and Mana potions dry rockets and bombs lunar fragments food made from Critters and finally the Crawdad salamander and giant Skelly banners and finally the last tidbit of information you need to know about is that buff potions will not give you back all of the crafting materials when thrown in Shimmer which is likely relogic's way of stopping players from making unlimited potions that wraps up everything you need to know about Shimmer just like all of my guides if I did miss anything I will have a pinned comment on this video including anything I may have missed or got wrong thanks for sticking to the end be sure to like And subscribe for more Terraria videos like this and as always make sure to have a wonderful day
