[Music] hi everybody this is Grand Master Ben Feingold and we have class number two today for 1400 Andover and today we're going to look at a specific opening for a very specific reason as you all know and there's I think there's no way you could know it yeah you can't even know it yesterday we had a tournament here and I played an extra rate again the reason was we had an even number and at every section even everybody's happy then five minutes after round one started the guy walked in and playing the open section now we have a buy every round so the guy in round 2 who I know well he's like I wanna play you so you gotta buy another in round three he decided to you and play me and take his buy so I won and around for the guy somebody withdrew so we I wasn't needed anyway so I was needed for one game so I played a game of this opening that I know pretty well and it's black and a sozin now as you all know I play the Sicilian okay and in the Sicilian I often get this position if I'm black and a Sicilian after E 4 C 5 I would say I had this position half the time and otherwise they'd play C 3 Sicilian and close to Selina Bishop e5 Sicilian the etcetera Sicilian ok and here it's well known to everybody in the audience the two most common moves for white are they're very well known ok that moves at this on the screen there's 24 and the other move the other one's called the rouser or richter rouser you know close you couldn't be closer you correct okay let's good jokes we told back and with it okay the correct answer our videos for you is Bishop to g5 okay and then white plays Queen d2 and castles Queen side followed by etc okay now I could lecture on that all day because I get paid by the old day but I'm lecturing a bishop see for today this is sozin this is a famous famous this was a favorite the Bobby Fischer and so many people call it the Fischer sozin for obvious reasons whatever those reasons are I don't know now the two most common moves East six by far the most common played yesterday in the famous game Chow Feingold and Queen b6 which is the second most common move which I've also played and we're gonna look at four games I've played throughout the years with both of these modes so we'll get rid of this because that's nonsense now one thing you have to realize is there's to move orders to get this position I actually fled the less common one and the purpose of the move order is to allow or not allow certain variations of Bishop b5 so for example most grandmasters to get to this position would play d6 and then after d4 take take here here 96 although most grandmasters would play the night or when they say ok and the reason is most grandmasters not me after d6 there should be five check they don't mind so much they mind it more after knight c6 Bishop b5 in fact I'm the opposite I don't really know d6 Bishop e5 check this I know okay now if you're gonna play the accelerated dragon if there's two ways you can play it the way I play it sometimes I play the accelerated dragon and so sometimes in this position I'm flipping a coin in my head by using noise from space obviously the only fair way to do it okay and that's to play g6 here or play the line that I showed you we're gonna look at today now Eugene peril strain for example your favorite Grandmaster he plays g6 son move to also play this already dragon but avoiding this should be five no right not avoiding queen takes d4 which he doesn't care about I care about it so I avoid that with 96 okay now this is a question of what we're avoiding but we're getting to this position and the way I get to this position is I play knight c6 most people play d6 to get to that position and then I play d6 here and I can also play e6 or a5 those are also locomotives okay but this is the position that I guess this is what I know now in the famous book beating the Sicilian by no nobody anybody dr. John Donne followed by being a Sicilian to be the Sicilian three and four okay and the more the more versions he makes the more money he gets he dubs this the classical variation although he says it doesn't really have a name okay because why could make any move now by Bishop c4 is this house and we all agree on that now this game was played in 2002 and a Thanksgiving tournament they have every Thanksgiving and as an aside the person who invented this tournament the Motor City open delivered me in the in the operating room he was he was the it wasn't ob/gyn either he was known as the witch doctor that explains he's also 1900 the US yeah true story all that stuff is true I have more stuff I can say about him Tara for example he was seen during one of his turn came turning the clock back for his opponent which you can't do now it's digital but what is analog you could do that no cheating okay so in this game I played u6 which is what I usually play I'd like we'd be sick sometimes we'll see that and this is called the valid Maravich attack named after mr. attack very good okay yeah in this position white played rim g1 and this is a very funny story which I've told many times I could let one of you talent let's see yeah I was on an airplane in maybe 1994 and I had a chess book like one of these books and it was a hardcover book from the 70s in descriptive notation confusing the audience and I remember opening the it was a book on like this opening and I opened up the book and it was in the middle and it had this position oops Queen c7 it had this position with Queen e8 and I thought it was a typo and the diagrams was in 70s book and this that was the last move was Queen to King one that's like what okay and then I played Queenie eight like seven times I'm something like seven or no where there or maybe I lost two actually lost two sim seven some summoner one okay and whenever I played Queenie and my opponents are confused now this game I play Queen c7 which is the most common move and the reason is funny this guy is actually my student there was in 2002 so he knew that I played Queen e8 so he probably was ready so then I play here he was like wait what he doesn't play that I assume that's why I did it because we actually looked at chess together so okay now my first lesson with this gentleman he was a kid now he's not a kid mm - my first lot so he was rated 1500 then we had a chess lesson okay if you got to 2200 obviously because don't you ever and in the chess lesson he showed me a game II played in Chicago okay and the position was this yeah that's right okay and his opponent played here which is not not a good move and he responded with this yeah and I was like man I got I got too tough student over here right okay and I said why'd you do that and he very reasonable what he said he said my opponent picked up busy pawn and I did the Syria move that I just rode he says I like Brody set and then I looked back at like there should be three I didn't even see where you moved to Z pawn didn't even occur to me to luck because he five is like conservative mistake so he did even look at he said he's five and then it turned out it was a good move is there going to do anyway that's the guy that I made 2,200 the guy who played Bishop e3 so very proud of myself alright anyway back to reality oh okay there goes gravity alright don't suit me on them alright I'm from Detroit also anyway so I play d6 and we got this position where I usually don't play Queen c7 but I did the reasons for Queen c7 are so obvious I won't even talk about them so obviously and all of my work on the same line as his queen because they'll put work takes Queen I want to play b5 at some point probably pretty soon but my night would be hanging so Queen c7 takes care of all that okay and if my opponent decides to play f45 I've defended e5 more okay and maybe I'll take his bishop what his Queen runs over here and meets me he might meet me but I'll be up a bishop okay played Bishop b3 97 Knight to c5 I've actually had this position many times with my Queen ITA not used to this Queen c7 stuff and he played Knight f5 or as I like to say yeah this is good to harmony there okay not as good as joyed work doing hurt me with himself oh yeah there's a guy who knows his futurama okay now let's see how well he does no futurama who was upset about that who now Amy Amy Amy's like what's happening here he's doing humming with himself and she complained about it twice yeah and then they were like whatever he's annoyed bird in my break okay now the point of Knight f5 first of all it's knife I find is if I ever change the night he has D fight for his night he takes penguin with the G pawn and checkmates man now I'm not required to take the knight so I didn't I played b5 okay and then he did it yeah Bishop d5 recommended by Karen in fact Karen has a question why did in white sacrifice more pieces that's the way care implies okay and again if I take the bishop Knight takes d5 is annoying yeah that's good look at nice in there isn't it but again I'm not required to take those pieces now of course white has a reason for his room Bishop to g5 he wants to take this Knight and then if I take that Knight takes seven checkers annoying so this should be seven that way if he takes my knight my queen is still defending this way bishop and he did do that and then he played by g5 anyway he's like I'm sacking a piece whether you want me to or not okay and I was like nope I don't and so if I take this way and he takes back my bishops hanging and my my bishops gonna be double attacked and all my pieces are hanging okay but if I do play the way I played then it's all blocked up now if he takes and I take I'm just up a piece I'm not afraid of this attack because his pieces all disappeared so he traded he traded on e7 to not lose a piece okay and rook c8 so I'm not a big believer in whites attack also what attack is there an attack okay and then I'm ready to go I'm looking good all right so g5 he's trying to attack I'm gonna double up on the bubble up her cage for here he comes g6 now Queen h5 is annoying right but after g6 Queen h5 is less annoying much less that's annoying for him alright so queen g4 I guess he wants to go to age 3 e 5 blocking up the center and he played out for now if he plays Queen h3 what she didn't do I have more than one defense I'm actually not sure what I would have done I can defend a normal way by moving my half pawn and my rook and queen defend you see what I'm saying okay or I could put it in H okay then he plays the move this scares all of you right and then when I play here you're less scared because you can't do Viswanathan right what's he gonna do now well if it was bughouse okay maybe but in a bughouse it's real life so I wasn't sure which move I would play maybe at the time I was sure but this was 2002 anyway he played out four and I took and he played Bishop to d4 now here he comes Rick takes h7 is the threat the archer agrees a lot yeah see how he's maybe be carrying terrible yeah okay so I resign because that threats too strong okay so I play Queen e4 and then song did I sing buy me you you meet me except I meet you so if he goes here then I can't take it as I get made it then I go here and you get mated the next room is Queen C to mate with advantage yeah also he could play me that we're both needed right okay so he saw that I'm gonna meet him on c2 so he played c3 now I can't meet him uncie - correct I almost made that joke okay and now he played King D - let's pretend he continues the mating facade he takes and takes here you see the main I'm talking about okay now this will surprise all of you of these three pieces which one is scaring me the most as far as getting mated you can you say the other one then when we get all three in he said rook he said Queen okay it's the bishop yeah that's this that's the piece that's hearing me I don't know like that yeah so I take it oh snap now I never ever never ever never get made it ever never yeah I got my Queens I'm defending that there's no anywhere yeah I know but there's no me yeah I can never get made no there's no threat in each one you can make a million losing around please for keep moving yeah you're right Queen xx keep moving they made me I defended all that okay so he didn't like that he just played King d2 like a boss okay then I played 95 blocking his Bishop also some of you might be afraid of Knight takes Queen so he took I took and he's not meeting me although his King Queen each 3d8 I was very concerned about this except I wasn't concerned about it and he played King c1 let's see what if I should be concerned about that first of all I can never get made exact no here trade Queens he can even trade Queen yes let me trade the Queens but I could also do this with track and then do this with check well I'm not very concerned over there okay so King c1h five takes and you know what I applied yeah now White has a big attack except for one thing there's no attack okay queen g4 he's gonna worm his way in alright just like in rounders see loungers yeah you did who are the two main characters right and the other one is worm that's his name whenever worm yeah played by Ed Norton Yeah right you see sorry what okay so rook takes d5 G one man we're both beating each other except he's not meeting me man now Queen c2 is annoying yeah but he threatened me too maybe it's his move when we forgot nope yeah okay so I have a lot of those kinds of games of this opening where we castle opposite sides we meet each other and the audience loves it and then my blood pressure goes up okay so problem is when you playing somebody rated mm if you make a really bad move they could get a winning position but usually they mess it up anyway in a stolen oh but I haven't made a blunder in this opening or I'm just getting crushed so so far so good okay now I have a question that I want you to remember when the lecture is over see Queen c2 may you see it you see it okay the lecture is over we're gonna talk about that muahaha okay then I played Michael Brooks this is a famous game for one of his comments this is a famous Michael Brooks comment Michael Brooks the only player I've played where during the tournament that I played him in he was previously in the hospital during the tournament he played a couple rated games go to the hospital come back and play some more me two games okay he's the Macau it's Hall of saint-lo his chest even though he lives in Kansas City yeah now tall tall occasionally would drink alcohol and occasionally would smoke okay but Saul was born sick like Lady gaga and Michael Brooks was not born sick but has the same afflictions occasionally goes the hospital so alright so I play Michael Brooks and we play the usual sharpness the usual I play Queen b6 okay he can play a lot of moves here he played the most common okay and the idea of Queen b6 is there's no white knight on d4 so you can't go over are like my last opponent and the bishops always going to be three and being safe and that's also illegal so that's the point is put the date on b3 so those bishops hanging out to dry and there's no knife f5 okay and a lot of guys will Castle kingside in this very issue but not Michael Brooks these castling queenside okay then we get the same kind of position that we were looking at before and I played b4 normally I've already castled but why should I cast so when I can start attacking first you with some crazy comment right you remember that you remember all my elections yeah Karen was gonna just say that but you know preempted her so after b4 white has one very obvious mode 91 there was I take your knife okay and after 91 I don't know a5 a4 I don't know I attacked okay let's see what the engine says am I better my butter okay so there's like you take that I don't see five also and then play 94 all right this is I'm better he could take this tonight and then play Knight a4 because there's my Knights not defending it okay so the computer likes black anyway he played 95 now there's two reasons to play Knight d5 he chose the second reason the first reason is 95 rar that's why I mean the last guy did it he was like I'm gonna beat you and I said and I asked map to the game did you think 95 was a good move or you just didn't like Knight be why he's like I don't like maybe one it's like I'm not playing 91 so 95 the other move that was the default because 91 he didn't like the default was to sack apiece he got a lot of compensation except for one thing no compensation I took now if I miss play it he could crush me but I played correctly I took the bishop which is correct and plate I tray all the pieces on so you can't meet me okay hard to meet me when he has no pieces now this is actually a very funny movie I played he played Bishop take G 7 inches also crazy I have a funny story about this here he played root G 1 now this was a round-robin GM tournament there were like 5 GM's and 5 IMS playing and two of the GM's were friends and they were sharing a hotel room and their game ended in a quick draw and they were back at their hotel room watching the game on the internet watching those actually another GM group that was stronger than mine so then they saw this game because you know white sacking all his pieces and we're meeting each other and when he sacked on g7 and played Virgie one they told me later they couldn't stop laughing like sack apiece then you work g1 like when you sack all your pieces it would be good idea to meet your opponent not look let's prepare the attack a few moves and then we'll kind of made them so if you are gonna play rook g1 and try to attack me maybe not played mission sage g7 first right now when your opponent sacks all his pieces and you're up to bishops you know if you defend you'll win like I defend and I win or if I don't defend I'll get mated but I still play Queen e2 I didn't see any threats that's like there's no threats I can't defend against the threats I don't see them so yeah that's when you know you're in trouble when your opponent isn't defending against your attack like what attack there's no threats okay all right so he played g6 that was very scary except for one thing it wasn't scary usually you take toward the center which I'm sure wins but taking this Way's better because it activates my rook so it actually makes f5 impossible I assume if I took this way he would play out five which I'm sure that I'm in like plus 20 there but this is even better yeah in slope chest only 90 minutes in 30 second increment yeah yeah and then he resigned so you just like know what's happened he's kept doing these pieces away yeah so when you give your pieces away make sure a pound if I was like yeah then I'll show you the games were like ah my pieces are gone dang okay and then he has nothing he's just down to pieces plus plus a billion yeah yeah so that game they get it's scary because when your opponent's high rated and their second their pieces you like oh this isn't good yeah and then you look at this in this same room around the same time probably a year or two later I was playing shadow of in the western of the US Championship and I made a move and I hit the clock and he went like this and I was like aha and then he made a move on was plus 30 and I was better before the move I made oh yeah I but he moved I was like oh that's not good and he made a move I didn't see an eye design so when you're point sets other pieces it's scary especially when you know they're pretty reasonable players but yeah here he just was like FoxNews crazy okay this was one of my best games and I played this in downtown Atlanta uh-huh right also know also acceptable okay yeah this is against alien will just pretend the A's for a wonder and this is actually a kid you know we don't write kid high school yeah yeah okay and he's 2100 on a good day it wasn't a good day and same opening because I said so right see it makes sense right sozin okay and I got to play my Queenie and I think yeah okay and now he played all bad moves that's not a good idea so grandma Esther's always played rug g1 g4g 5 etc mainly yeah he played King b1 which is a bad move and now this highlights one of the strengths of Queenie aids also if you're watching on my stream King bee one's a good move okay the reason is one of the things the Queen does I need is it protects a four so when I play Bishop DS and B 5 B 4 it's very difficult to play 94 because my Queen and Bishop are lined up there however it's very easy to play Knight B 1 however now it's not very easy to play 91 so guess what I did I tried to play d5 b4 amazing ok and f3 is probably the losing move I think White's actually losing after f3 f3 is a passive move that does nothing like you got a checkmate the guy so King do you want passive doing nothing f3 passive doing nothing now Bishop d7 which looks innocuous right Archer okay it looks like this should be Santa he's developing as Bishop so why not so what so mom a jar of now I'm threatening to win a piece confusing the audience ok I'm threatening Knight takes a knight or b4 well I can't make any moves no like I couldn't do anything good good program chess paste good job what okay that what happened oh it made the moves that I didn't make when I was trying to move that's funny okay so what I want to do is play b4 he'll play Knight a4 I'll play Knight takes knight on d4 and the queen of bishop battery wins the day okay he didn't want me to do that so he played Queen f2 for obvious reasons what are those obvious reasons you yeah now he's making good EE - if I yeah so he's playing a good defensive game it's a very sharp sozin with checkmates every move he makes is boring and defensive somehow i won okay so i pushed all my pawns and now a four is easy to stop except for one thing it's not easy to stop pretty simple threat right okay so a three then let's let's go here comes the a file attack where our whites attack doesn't look very good yeah right and here comes the a final attack threatening mate okay so now I played a move that would make morphe proud they always say rookie a rookie it's good move mine was better yeah no I don't think that's that's what I did I just I mean you're in better shape than I am I can't move that far you yeah and the threat is supply Queen Shaq King c1 then take the knight yeah where Kate has the same you know Queen a one main idea he'd probably run away I'm actually trying to stop him from running away because it looks like he should run away now looks like this might be a better Square from his King but he can't play King c1 if I play rikiei he has to play things he wanted so I'm like are you doing that okay he played rugby 3 which stops my threat of check-in Queen takes Knight cuz he defended his Knight and I play d5 a Sicilian lovers dream and I'm a vegan yeah nobody alright yeah ok yeah I try to try to slice that up all right now he blundered although if he doesn't blunder I'm winning this surprises a lot of my students so I don't mean like this position I mean all positions what's the material situation equal right if I push the default kibitzer what's the result must be equal minus 3 in your the beams you're minus 3 yeah yeah it's better than you could Eve ever dream yeah and I just let it sit for a second it's a 2 CPUs your computer would announce me it's like maybe maybe maybe yeah all right so I have a big attack all my pieces are good and he played f3 in his works on each one okay now he attacked Bishop g5 what's defending his Bishop right you right archers like I've seen this game they take c4 also you played this tournament and you played and you and you get a new car did Archer plantings huh it was the one downtown and then they had the crazy thing going on in the basement with the tent and stuff and I lost a cop's key the last round and Sidora one thank you play yeah yeah this is before I lost the cops keys okay now the point of 94 is not so when upon the point of 94 is not so in this Bishop the point of 94 is to stop King detail so if it's my move move I check made him also if he takes my Knight Bishop takes Bishop stops king c1 and that's annoying now the computer will announce I think your computer would have no It's Made like yours I don't mind looking do it is alright alright so then blacks pieces are all pretty good not as good as his rook on each one but I'm trying so he took I checked now he did something really really really bad etiquette I checked and he resigned come on are you kidding me you can't resign here either use a trade idea for or you play to me you don't reside in the middle of it any resigned instead of getting mated alright and this saw leads us to the important game of the lecture that was the preamble right and now for your edification one of you will say the preamble well we'll just tell me if you could in order what was the beginning we and then some other stuff establish justice justice ensure domestic tranquility provide for the common defense promote the general welfare and has sir the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America alright your turn are true what these watch TV memorize it okay so I was playing Kaden and before the game Kaden actually set the the preamble no no I said more in the last 20 seconds than Kaden said this year yeah exactly Kaden does his talking on the chess board okay so we did what I said we would do and then I did something I do a lot my opponent makes moves that I know are bad so I refute them and then my refutation is in the Saints I'm just lost I use all the time okay so in this position he played app three which is bad there's no grand mansions with f3 so I'm like oh I can refute that and I just well bad news I'm lost so the suckers playing normal I'm always like rawr right no I mean f3 is a move but not here yeah it's not move here okay so the difference is by Knights on c6 I'm ready to go I'm ready with g5 I'm ready to play 95 96 98 okay and here I should probably just play a six but but d5 is okay and that's how you refute f3 and f4 as you played early d5 which the knight rope doesn't make a lot of sense because my nights I'm g7 then c6 makes a lot of sense my night stop walking my queen in my bishop and here actually the engine that says every move I made is better than my move Knight a5 is better which I need to see that Knight takes is matter which I didn't see I took with the point and out just says I'm worse normally you want to do this when they move their a spawn because this doesn't make any sense anymore like this should be here ok and I played super aggressively like I like to do and he surprised me with 92 there's a lot of good moves here for white that move just has the intention of winning my D pawn because all of his pieces are tagging my D pawn yes I play Bishop before and after a three the computer says my next move is a blunder I played a four and it says after Bishop takes d5 he's just up upon and I assumed somehow that would be bad for him without doing like a thorough analysis I was like wow my rooks attacking his Bishop his Queens defending it it's pinned it's defending this I'll just take some stuff and win but he was like no white stuff apart okay so he played Bishop a2 which I expected then I played Bishop a5 and I thought you would wasn't sure what he would do but he played Queen D three unpinning his night and I thought a long time cuz I don't know what to do but it is my D pod 95 obvious I don't want to draw the computer says 96 is equal cuz I can draw let's repeat it's not Bishop f5 now I was sure he would take my deep one somehow and he did but he should play Bishop to g5 and that's pretty annoying because I'm nice pretty pinned I don't really mind losing upon because in many of my games of the Sicilian where we Castle opposite sides I prefer not to get recommitted and if I have an attack and you don't have an attack I don't really care if you're up upon and I'm gonna have open a files and see files and D files and the kingside is just he's got nothing so okay so he took which is okay I took which I think the computer does not like and he tucked and I played her exceed which the computer does like and he stopped Trixie - I played Bishop before and here the computer says blacks already better if I play Queen f6 and I almost play Queen f6 but I misunderstood something I thought after I take that Queen takes e4 is bad in fact Queen takes e4 is the only move and other moves that I saw he could play I'm like I'm gonna crush her if he does that and I thought oh that's no good because he's lining up with this I mean it ended up that I was right because of his bad play not because I was right so now my queen is attacked and I moved my queen and here White's still battered his whites up a pawn but obviously blacks pieces are pretty good my rooks aren't open files to his pieces and King my Knights id5 his rook is saw h1 and practically speaking I think of both players are under 2300 I'm betting on black all day if both players are 2700 maybe White's doing well okay maybe and Peapod the move that I expected Bishop to d4 and I played Queen h6 check and he blundered well I thought I played Bishop h6 check oh I didn't because the computer stopped working I got a new computer just in time yeah okay so I play Queen h6 check and now he made the losing move I thought he should play King b1 and after King b1 the computer prefers black he actually should play Queen f4 and the computer says it's equal or something okay but he made a move that loses immediately and I show this on my stream last night and Spencer got it go Spencer and he played Bishop III always repeat yeah and now black wins who can sign the winning move there's a very tricky move which doesn't work which I know is a long time and I was like that doesn't work but then I found the non tricky move which does work I guess tricks are for kids which which rule is the tricky move a bit of DT check no that's actually not even this Triple A b6 with a rook and I resign now yeah I think up and then follow up man even though I don't know what you're talking about here you're giving all your pieces away so when I give all your pieces away this is the movie should be analyzing that's the movie annoys so he can't take with the pawn because it's illegal takes to the Queen I was pretty sure this is winning I'm still pretty sure that's winning then I'll see what he does so the only variation analyzed was takes takes takes takes at first I thought I was winning because I'm threatening rook C to check where g2 and his bishops hanging nine eight six and then I saw this one I was like ah stopping everything and threading my bishop so I didn't do that that's the complicated move and I played the simple move and the hint is it's the longest move for OKC team no that's not as long as the other move you can't find the longest I mean the longest Mumbai was longer than yours hey cook Queen 1886 that move wins I'm threatening his Knight and I'm also threatening Knight c4 which is incredibly winning midnight c4 threatens all of his pieces by discovery and non discovery and discovery after Queen is 6 on my plus 4 or as he would say minus 4 cuz I'm black okay now he thought forever he thought so he thought like 20 minutes and it was game in 75 but what I say even 75 was given 45 he thought 20 minutes here cuz every move loses his trap frame was it doesn't was okay he played brick d5 counter-attack and I ignored him the reason I ignored him is if he takes my bishop I have many moods that when the nicest is 93 Chuck threatening his queen as bishop his king and queen see to mate so if he takes I'm up a queen if you pleasure it takes tonight though I didn't that's not one of the Mo's plays Rick takes tonight his queen is overworked so I trade rocks and checkmate him so he can't take either piece so I took a piece he played Bishop f4 and this is where all your teachers your whole life were wrong in fact I didn't compliment caring as I forgot Karen was playing it was Rufus or doofus and win the tournament yesterday and you were up a piece and you could trade rooks and you did not trade rooks and you doubled up on the bubble up and then you made it in with your trucks on the seventh and I was thinking a lot of people just trade gives the rough apiece so that's what they do and then I shake my head okay so they pay me for just lessons okay so here's a really good example obviously my King safer than his I mean I got this rook in a Rik seeing action going on here okay and his queen is no good okay I even had a special conversation after the game with Linda Ronstadt about this Queen what'd she say Karen that's the best you can do yeah okay so I play Queens xg2 winning upon and keeping all my options open obviously the rook is hanging on d1 so here and now like a Frenchman I retreated Knight g6 okay I'm threatening the Queen I'm threatening the bishop and I'm threatening mate and he has one move defending all of them what did he do no that's too hard anybody Bueller okay Queen f5 so he defends his Bishop he stops her takes Queen his Queens defending c2 now he's actually not defending is this shot because if he takes my night I made them okay but my bishop on e5 is not defended so he can take that out okay so I played the obvious fork that's the obvious fork you forgot my always retreat mantra the same piece of retreating on 97 right yeah now the truth hurts it's very hard to play a move for Wyatt very hard actually it's pretty easy for him okay and I turned the engine on I'm plus 31 or something he played Queen d7 and now this is the part of the lecture you're supposed to remember from before I said remember this for later in the lecture I said it like 3540 minutes ago what was the move i won with in the first game I showed you and then I went back to the game and showed you again so you'd remember they're screaming it at home yeah there you go Queen c2 me I always play Queen c2 mate and this thing's is opening and as you all know you might know you probably don't know we might when I was a kid I had a t-shirt and it said Queen c2 exclamation mark he doesn't know that yeah right and then it was funny one of one of my iPod it against a guy he annotated for local local state magazine and when I play Queen c2 he wrote as advertised on my opponents shirt so Queen c2 me you can't do better than that right however if he doesn't play Queen d7 the truth hurts some of the moves are worse than me cuz your Queens attack your Queens defending that may your rook if you go here for example you can't take the night because of the same mane and if you play Queenie for now your Queens attack from my rook bamas tough 97 is hard to me so the two most aggressive ones were retreating the night or retreating the night again that's how chess works yeah and then the shocking number is shocking the audience confusing everybody with two CPUs only it's still pretty good right amazing yeah so that happens a lot in chests you look at a game it says plus 10 plus 20 plus 30 the guy's higher rated you're like oh that was easy the first 15 moves just said I was worse the whole game I didn't turn the engine on then the engine stayed off yeah so I was worse that was the kind of worse where it's good I'm not playing a super computer I'm playing a human that's good because any slip and then plus a thousand for me and it's game 45 it's not 40 moves in two hours and yeah so he doesn't have time to figure out what to do and the games super complicated that's what you're looking for as a higher rated player with black super complicated opponent has no chance to play the right move not like oh my equalize like gearing I can draw okay yesterday as you remember you don't remember because it wasn't yesterday yesterday there was the game Nakamura Anand okay and that was drawn very quickly maybe an hour and a half and there's nothing to the game they just traded training me to draw nothing on the board when they drew okay there's an O drawn rule and they still drew yeah there's an O drawn rule you can't you don't there's an O drawn rule and it's blue 29 they gave it in the draw that's that's the kind petitioner was the arbiter is like yeah yeah it's not playing this is embarrassing the armor is about 2,000 mated I know the guy so he could be like yeah okay this is silly yeah so you could sell it on did really wow he's playing a higher rated player he's black he drew really easily okay that's good for an on that's not good for me I have to make the game where I have to win I can't I can't be a Legia equalize it now it's a draw so I can't play the same openings necessarily the top players do because in gorge on the highest rated player so I gotta be people okay - and I could try to beat them by getting equal position now playing them and being any moves and I do that - but this was more fun when they play you for up oh the Sicilian can I tell you so what are the key things to remember in the sozin both sides are getting an attack and often I'll do things I shouldn't do so I get an attack and they don't okay because when they attack if you make a bad move you lose we're humans we make bad moves sometimes and some bad moves you can't recover from and some bad news you like oh well I'm worse but who cares so the bad moves that I made that game the computer didn't like the way I got my isolated pawn and played a 5-bit should be 44 okay so I'm worse the bad news he made 9 + 20 30 40 because he's too complicated so I've made those bad moves before this Sicilian where the computer says I'm worse but I don't make the moves when I go from like equal to minus 20 like oops I missed that move so you have to see the tactics and the tricks the positional stuff doesn't matter as much because of the opposite side castling it's more important who has the attack and when I play white in the King's Indian I play a lot of funny lines where they don't get an attack and they're like wait I'm glad the Kings in the I'm try to attack so if you can get your opponent out of their comfort zone sometimes they don't play very well and there was a quote on Twitter today when I say today not for you from Levon Aronian and he said if there's a position out of the opening you don't understand or like play the other side and that's why the levonne's playing e4 now and he's playing white side of the the Berlin and he won yesterday against the Minister of Defense funny Russian name I think it's translated wrong so I have a lot of games of this opening and very few draws after Bishop c4 it's possible in my life I have no draw as possible I don't think I do I think I have like 15 wins and 2 losses or something yeah lost to 7 he was lucky lucky he was playing man and I lost to art there frolov a guy you never heard of Grandmaster from some Russian Republic that doesn't exist maybe Ukraine and that game was the opposite side castling he was just boring he outplayed me and I cried yeah alright and as gene Wilder likes to say how kind of no longer alive did you know that he's no longer like oh no I did that yeah they don't like to say that what do you ever get positions for white castles King side yeah you know who like to do that Fischer someone I feel like it would shut down the whole right that you give different kinds of it that would be a different lecture boring yeah well it's not boring but it's not like that yeah Fisher Castle kingside and his idea was to play f4 f5 with his Bishop on the diagonal yeah when Fischer played whiteness Jose Unified the velum yurevic really [Music]
