My dad fought pretty hard with the original patent owner. He was trying to get in on the ground floor as a sales guy.
Plan was to go after small legislative bodies and school administration's to make it mandatory for shop classes that all table saws be outfitted with the saw stop spindle setup. Wouldn't have been a far stretch from there to get it into safety regulations from OSHA. At that point the work is pretty much done and the damn thing sells itself.
But noooo. He was so damned adamant about keeping it out of everyone else's saws
My school friend studio has only sawstop saws. Funny thing is that it detects all kinds of things as skin, like blue insulation foam. Also the safety switch needs to be disabled every time the saw is run. There were a few costly mistakes. Fuck sawstop
