winter just throwing that at wow wow i didn't think i knew all this no it's a lot to it it's not just the hey it's the first day of fall yeah there's a lot more to it yeah i know and how about how fall coming up in a couple hours and i and i can tell this time of year i don't know what it is i struggle a little bit in the spring with allergies and asthma yeah but the fall is my worst yeah and i don't know why that is i don't know if it's the cool air or what yeah well you know i've got i got two of my three boys suffer a little bit from the allergies and uh and and normally they take their little allergy pill allegra or whatever you know uh every every uh day i take that and but during sometimes during uh the winter they'll take a break from it and it's normally around christmas time into january and then they'll kick it back up or something and there was discussion around the house is well they just need to kind of come off that and take a break and i'm like no i was hearing from bubba the other day that this is the worst time for him you know september is bad for him like what are you talking about and plus them being around a baseball field and the dust kicks up it just eats their sizes up and so they stay on it or whatever but terry is always the one that says hey they need to they need to come off of it for a little bit and i'll give her that but they couldn't believe that i was saying no this time of year is kind of bad and so you're you're saying i always thought i always thought it was spring for me just because of the blooms and all that right and that was just something i'd say because i felt like that was the right thing to say but after actually paying attention to my own body yeah it's the fall that's worse for me and i used to tell people as a spring i'd even tell doctors they would ask me so when is your when do you struggle the most spring and i would say that just because everything's coming into bloom and that's what i've heard people always say i just didn't really think about it didn't care about it and now that i've gotten older and trying to really realize what's going on with my own body it's actually the fault it's worse how about that well so they're staying on it in case you want to know they're staying on uh their allergy medicine every day uh and it just beats down the symptoms that's what it does i have got a little mix here lately over the last couple years that i've really dialed things in and of course i finally went to an allergy doctor that's why well that would help that's why i dialed it in it's amazing what you know audio video we we really i mean you know we could probably focus more on the content of the show but we're really worried about the the quality of the show and and a lot of that is because bubba wants to make sure it's done right you know when we're zooming in we want the audio video to look good and so but here back at master control there's some things we've been working with and today uh bubba says that today will be an experiment today today we will see if this new setup works i want to admit something so so one of the things i've been doing this now for 11 years and prior to that i was full-blown i.t in healthcare and so one of the things i do miss about being in corporate america don't get me wrong i love this job okay we are so very fortunate to get to do what we do but one of the things i miss about corporate america is getting in a room with some folks and figuring out issues taking on tech hey we got a major tech issue and hey let's figure it out let's get in a room and not leave let's fire up the markers with a white board and let's figure out the problem before and so i know the radio engineering side is not like that that i'm used to but i had a blast yesterday for that hour trying to figure things out because it kind of took me back to what i really enjoyed doing back in those days there's there's master engineers for you okay all right there he is i mean i really did because we we were testing and we were going back and forth and once we were putting are all our minds together just i don't know i enjoyed it that caught me off guard how much i missed it yeah well to just really pull back the curtain and tell you things that you probably don't care about there was like a little buzz in our little channel and then the way we're feeding things to rick and whenever somebody is not in studio and they're zooming in we want that that experience for them on that end to be a good one yeah and uh and then make sure the communication is is there and so on our end we were trying to dial that in uh and so we're trying something a little different today but that was the big post show uh fun yesterday was things will even look different was sitting in what i thought was my chair and i was thinking man either i've shrunk or something's going on there i just didn't feel because this high over here on that side yeah and i've been sitting in your chair the whole time so they moved your chair because of the great experiment touched my chair over and i was sitting in it and so when i sat in this i thought okay this feels a little better here now i'm up now i'm up they're all the same type chair but every one of them sits differently yeah if that makes any sense at all right and so i my little tush knows big tush i should say knows that that wasn't my chair but i thought that something happened to me over the night what was going on i got a question and i don't know where this is gonna land with everybody but but i'm i'm i'm sick of something as i'm watching tv and maybe it's just me again i don't know where this is gonna land with the general public or you guys um but i am sick and tired of seeing companies and ad agencies and marketers putting commercials together with people in mask i'm done with it um i i don't i don't need it hey if you're in a commercial just give me your product i'm tired of seeing the polarizing political mask and i'm seeing more and more of it and i flipped on monday night football last night and to watch the start of it and it seemed like two or three commercials that were going through had masks on i flip it over here to fox uh business and flip it over here and we're showing commercials with ma i'm tired of it why are we go why are we wearing masks in commercials that's the new thing helms that's a new thing and then i thought this i thought well maybe i went this far with it i thought maybe because people do think this is the new normal and this is the way they want to relate to the new norm whatever i don't i don't like that term i don't i don't like the fact that we're embracing this and so i thought well you know the chinese were they've been wearing masks long before us because they're air quality so i want to pull up a couple of chinese companies and see in their commercials do they wear masks they don't so are you doing it just for political reasons why are we including so many masks well it's i think it's a lot like you got to understand too and i know this is tough but a lot of it is just we want to look like we care and we want to look like that we're doing the right thing and so we're going to wear a mask it's just like with with nfl coaches being fined for not having their mask on three of them have been fined a hundred thousand dollars each because they're not wearing their mask all the way above their nose throughout the entire game uh it's not that it's the science behind it protecting anyone it's the fact that we just want to be seen wearing our mask so it looks like we're doing the right thing and i think a lot of that has to do with the the commercials is look at us this is this is as to your point and i don't like the the term either the new norm yeah uh and you can always you can always tell when a commercial was was produced prior to covid i know and then also a show reality show because everybody's on top of each other and everything you're like well this clearly was was done before covet because from covidon it's just the new thing and i think hey we'll look at us we're gonna be sharp we got masks on i don't know it bothers me and i i've i just i've got to where i just turn it just turn it just turn it turn flip it on i just love the fact that you spent time enough to look up chinese commercials well i did well you know i'll do research i found two banks because i looked up chinese i took put top 10 chinese companies yeah and then went and looked at their commercials and they ain't masking any of them not one not one good and they've been wearing them for years yeah and i know that's a sip but but i want to know where why did we just to say we're just gonna this is all inclusion mask i mean there was one commercial i don't remember the company last night there wasn't a soul without a mask and i'm like this is not i don't like this i don't like the feel of this how do you like political ads with the mask on because you know these you know it's you know like uh you'll see uh biden's ad or or some some other stuff and they got masks on the whole time in the ad promoting i think it's the same thing it's the same thing yeah and i don't watch enough um i don't watch enough tv like true cable tv to to see these like the yesterday flipping it on and watching the the first series of monday night football in the death star and and flipping over to the golf channel um a little bit over the weekend in nbc to watch the u.s open here or there that was that's all i mean i'm a netflix i'm a streaming guy um 80 of the content i consume on a tv is streaming yeah and so i don't see a whole lot of this and so now it came in my world this weekend and yesterday and i was like what in the world is going on mm-hmm uh just for those of you in my shot here that white head you're you're saying that's the greatest thing that is bubba uh he's just come on hey well the great experience the engineer has to work and during the kickoff hour uh we're just gonna do it how's the great experiment going buddy well we got some cabling issue we're trying to work oh no i'll let you know okay well that's that's the back of his head that y'all are seeing it's not a fuzzy ball uh there it is right there look at him uh you know anytime an engineer you know is leaning on his hand and he's sitting there looking and he's like oh boy what are we doing that's never really good uh but we'll see how the great experiment rolls out here at the bottom uh hey speaking of of tv last night i watched a little bit of the nfl uh i'm sorry if i'm losing uh you know i started i i watched it i forgot about i forgot about it and uh amanda said why don't you go downstairs watch some football with braden he's down there fired up about monday night football and i thought oh my goodness i didn't i didn't even know about it yeah so i went down there is it is it uh allegiant stadium allegiant stadium and i didn't know who allegiant was and you said they're an airline i i just assumed that it was a bank and i got to look at it sounds very like right after i looked up the chinese companies i looked up last night and i guess the big the big story is and i i know some of you you know i can't believe you're talking to nfl what look uh we're just we're just talking about the storyline and that is las vegas now has the raiders yeah and that's just weird to hear raiders and las vegas together it is it's just strange and uh we um we had uh we had the new stadium uh that uh opened up last night and it's been a lot of talk you know we've had a sofi stadium there in la that that is home for the chargers and the rams and it costs five what five billion five billion so this cause that's what's strange this cost half of that yeah it cost two and a half billion 2.5 billion yeah and and but still unbelievable uh where the sides and the top open and and then they're using like real turf so and then they and it comes in and out on a platform uh kind of like in arizona where you know it stays outside so it can get sun and and then they they will it back in it's really something else the whole floor moves uh but um the story is is that you woke up today ready to to get fired up for another day you saw the score and you were like is that right or am i reading this wrong well the raiders won i'll tell you why i'll tell you why they caught me off guard is because i saw i flipped it on as it was starting okay yeah and i'll be honest i don't know where i'm at on the these are the kind of things i'm i'm probably 50 percent interested in the football game and 50 interested in everything else around it that makes sense yeah so i wanted to see the the opening of the stadium because we got an 85-foot torch i don't know if you saw last night that was lit in honor of al davis that was a weird moment i did see that with his wife i think it was his wife that um that led it in his honor or whatever she had that going on i don't know if i like this monday night crew that's doing the game steve levy and uh louis louis reddick and greasy is he a part of it i think so yeah i don't i think so i don't know that i i didn't watch enough of it to maybe i don't know i just i it wasn't my norm i needed my normal crew back for some reason i don't know why yeah you had that going on well then the saints go down the field and just cut them up like butter in that first series now they held them to a field goal 3-0 and i turned it off and went and watched an episode of away all right netflix interesting and and didn't watch it again and so then i thought well the saints have got this they'll kill you know and then i wake up this morning the raiders put up 30-something points and beat them yeah 34-24 uh was the final and you didn't read that wrong they they won you talk about the las vegas raiders uh you know if you just say raiders raiders that's fine but when you say las vegas raiders it's just when they doesn't seem when they put the score on the tv and it says lv and no that's weird it is it is we're used to seeing no but lv what in the world caught me off guard well gruden the head coach of the las vegas raiders you know they're supposed to wear these masks right yeah and he looks like little chucky and we've talked about that i i only can imagine what frank caliendo is going to post today doing his gruden in person impersonation but um he is not wearing the mask it's down on his chin the whole game and it and you know during um during the the game and at halftime they talked about the fines that were sent out yeah to these head coaches i think there's three of them uh that we're not wearing masks i think it was denver seattle and san francisco i could have that wrong they're sending down fines a hundred thousand dollars to the coaches now i want to say the teams got fined i think it's about about about a million dollars total i want to say over math yeah nfl finds three head coaches teams over one million dollars for not wearing masks and um adam schefner says uh i i don't think that's going to end because gruden's not what you're not wearing is uh it's hard i think to to kind of dial that in and then some guys are like look when i'm calling plays and trying to talk to the players i can't have the mask on i just can't uh but um the teams were hit with i think 250 thousand dollar fines the coaches a hundred thousand dollar fines you add all that up and i think it's 1.05 million in fines that they're gonna they're gonna see and it could continue to grow but but the the reason i'm bringing all that up is because did the cdc change their guidelines on six feet not enough no wait a minute it is uh over the weekend i saw something where they sent something out that said six feet is not near enough but then on monday they come back and go hey wait a minute i'm sorry we take all that back is that real so so i was actually reading an article about this yesterday um and and evidently they put out something on friday that started talking about it being airborne up to 26 to 30 feet uh from a sneeze that particles could hang in the air for i mean it went so uh detailed about these droplets and they they used a word here um microns like if it's if it's a large droplet 100 microns or larger whatever that means in the world um that catch and then you know and it's just oh it's just ever changing and that's what's so frustrating to the american people and really it's just american things worldwide it is what do we do here i think we just i think comes back to common sense where try to wear your mask uh i just don't and then try to keep your hands clean and out of your face i guess i i don't know what else to do i can't figure wearing them and we don't care if you notice that so that's a little confusing uh but have you ever opened the door of a place when you forgot your mask and realize nobody's wearing it so you just you feel okay well i'm going in i guess i'll go in i don't know what to do here but yeah the masks are like part of your uniform now it's it's like it's like your shoes and your belt or whatever else you wear your wallet you got to have a mask and you better have multiple masks i look at it a little bit like reading glasses i gotta have about 10 of these one at home one at work one in the car everywhere i guess you got to have about five or six masks and just have them everywhere you know you picked up your reading glasses so the last few days i've been trying to test if i actually need them or not i don't and because i keep saying i don't need those yet i don't need this yet but and those are 1.5 right yeah and that's what amanda has she needs them and so she has 1.5 man they're all just a general black or brown all laying around the house yeah and so i have noticed that i mean it's got to be like this close and he's holding it yeah i'm talking eight inches away from my eyes yeah there because you had the scott van pelt in there and and that's when i realized so i mean this is how i would have to hold it for it to actually magnify and work and that's ridiculous i don't need to do that i can just hold it normal and and read it so anyway yeah but you'll know for sure i promise you that um something else i know for a fact i know what i'm getting everybody here for christmas this year oh really yeah and i may go ahead and do it now i've actually been i found myself online looking yesterday and this is one of those gifts where you're really buying it for yourself but you measurements on the i nearly bought one yesterday and i thought and i know the one that i was going to buy yesterday would fit in there but i thought could i get a little bigger one i got to get the dimensions so today i'm measuring the box yeah it's pretty bad when my college son has a better microwave at their apartment yeah than we do here because we do we do use it a lot well i'll tell you anymore we start getting one of these days now i don't think it's over i'm not that naive okay i think we're just getting a little uh a little taste of what's coming don't don't don't get your coats out yet yeah but uh this is a nice break in the action that's for sure and of course we have a lot of storms still moving around in the gulf and they're going to cause some weather and some rain and all that kind of stuff i have to sort out but it sure has been pretty the last few days i got out i stayed out in the yard last night working on projects until bedtime you know yeah i mean it finally just got dark i said well heck i can't see you i'm going to debate it you know it just feels so good it gives you hope it does but again i'm glad bubba you're not um not trying to think you could have something no know you've lived in this this climate too long i mean you know better than this and i'm proud of you for that uh i am upset with you and helms today i'll cover that on the program uh yeah y'all left out something yesterday that i'm shocked you left it out uh and i'll bring it up uh and we'll talk about that today um greg is out saying prayer for for mom today he's helping her go to a doctor's appointment today and and hopefully it's nothing serious but you know any time and i've even had this happen i know you guys have to with even my own wife or sometimes when they have their their checkups the doctors will say hey you know we saw a little something need you to come back and do some follow-up testing and and usually uh that turns out not to be anything so i hope all of this is somebody being thorough and let's just pray that didn't turn out to be anything but um so prayer for mom today as she goes in for some additional testing uh that that doesn't turn out to reveal anything at all so uh or anything serious so that there that's why greg will not be with us today he is uh he's taking that on with me being in um uh and quarantined obviously uh being around mom and dad um but i come out of quarantine you know tomorrow should be the last day so i'm kind of excited about that this um man my son and i both trying to work from home and sherry trying to do what she does online with classes she's taking at home it has been a technological nightmare just tell them not to do anything to about 10 30. well and i've tried that my son just texted me today and he said are you telling me i can't get on my zoom meeting that's scheduled here uh in a couple hours and i said if we can hold off on that that'd be great now yesterday we did find out at the end of the show a couple of issues here at uh at the at the burgess studio uh speaking of my son working toward the end of the show he attempted to upload a huge fall to the church's facebook page so that that didn't help us there at the end of the show and it killed us in the production time and i found out we had actually an internet uh problem uh in our neighborhood and you know that was understandable since it was blue skies in about 73. yeah that makes a lot of sense you know if the equipment can't hold up with yesterday's weather they got a problem you know yeah i got on with the internet provider and uh that was you know you know god were they easy were they pretty easy to get a hold of well what i found out was you know it was just another example of first peter chapter one six and seven and this you rejoice though now for a little while if necessary uh you've been grieved by various trials uh so uh so my faith was tested yesterday uh i don't know if y'all dealt with customer service in modern times especially and by the way can i just tell all the companies out there we know we know every single day you cannot say that that we we're we're have now today's different we have we have it just in a rare occasion we're bombarded with a large number of calls so our wait time may be longer today if you say that every day that just means you have long wait times yeah that just means you don't have enough operators uh because every day can't be a busy day if it is you you've got you've you've got to change your customer service right and rick with the sad part a lot of these people and the technicians on the ground that come out to your house that are working on the street they're they're salt of the earth people know what they're doing but the people who are managing them on the higher level and this this is across several companies okay this is not a company speech this is several and i've dealt with them on the show you've dealt with the the upper management people are not getting the job done okay they they are selling you out selling you short the people on the ground i'm impressed with the ones i've interacted with that come to the that i think i never got upset i never was mean i never showed myself as my mother would say the entire time i could not i was so kind one time i think it shocked the woman she almost came back and said i really expected you you know she was you could tell she was surprised at my my my disposition but then after i was done i went i went downstairs and of course from you know based on the the the what i'm trying to figure out with all the the following of the science i didn't know whether to be six feet eight feet twelve feet a hundred feet right a thousand feet uh 150 yards from my wife uh you know because every day it changes uh and then they take it back but anyway so um uh i then i began to tell my wife what i wanted to say and she said when i say that right there rick all you've learned is not to say what your heart really feels you know she said so you still got some heart issues to work on and i thought is that true i mean is that right i mean so that's true yeah i had some success but there's still work to be well that's the thing is that the spiritual question yeah that's it yeah she said it's like now you're telling me what you want to say so your heart right still had that disdain no i i think i think capturing the tongue is a is a is an action that is something that you intentionally do i don't think you can control your heart i think that i think what comes out is is run through the filter of hopefully uh spirit filled the heart is the last to change and it is a tough one and and this is what i've said many times rick i i don't want to be a bad person state have you noticed that yeah yeah sure well why don't we just have one that covers all of it have you ever asked your question have you ever just internally went well why why do we have so many of them yeah yeah sure how we've asked ourselves well gerald cheryl this is big pay attention so and james spann every now and then he'll he'll even tell you about why they have all the radar sites because as that as that signal comes out from the radar site and it goes along it's in a straight line well guess what the ground starts falling away because of the curve so the beam is getting higher and higher and higher and it's missing the weather down close to the ground so it doesn't give you an accurate picture you see another diagram so about every about every 60 75 miles you got to have another signal covering it because that's the that's the radio curve of the earth where it's going over and the radio signal won't won't go past it unless it bounces off something and that's why some people hear these signals from far off on certain days when it it gets in a layer between hot and cold air and it troughs what they call it but just the fact that they have to have all these radar sites should be evidence that that that signal is blocked and they have to have more than one so you know that's that's why we have that that's just that's just one little example i thought you might want to you know think on today yeah and then don't here's one you know from me who uh you know doesn't study the science and technology as much as say the bubbas of the world um undoubtedly the edge of it is an extremely long way out there because we can't get to it we got some we got some stuff now man we travel a really long way i've got on airplanes and i've really went a long way in those airplanes and do you ever see an ice wall out there anywhere you can get a picture of no and boats we got boats that will float my goodness will go yeah submarines we could go the bottom of the wall and look around on it find some big catfish sure so what i would just say and i would say this to anything let's not stop with critical thinking and now cheryl you saying it's backward see us seeing that the world was round was not created by all this social media ai stuff see we got on that back when we just simply got up there and took a picture of it and that was big well we we ran around it say tv stations okay let's go we'll just throw any any channel out there let's say channel two okay the very lowest channel how come that we can't see channel 2 from atlanta all over the united states how come it only goes out about 60 70 miles and it disappears but guess what if i have a high the higher i get up the better i see the signal reckon while that is because i'm getting a better peak over the curve of the earth how you picking peak like a little prairie dog i'm looking up see and we even have formulas that tell you when you do engineering things and you're you're shooting a a signal from point a to b and tom has his software on his computer it tells you how high you have to be on each end to see the other antenna if you're shooting a direct signal on a high frequency careful so if you're on a mountain up here and you're 200 foot high if you're over here in the valley it'll tell you exactly how high you got to be to to see that and get over the curve of the earth and at some point it says oh you got to have a 5 000 foot tower and people go well that won't work you go well you can't get a signal there you're going to have to do something else i mean that alone that alone should tell you that the earth is round rick would you rather try to um change a flat earther's mind or get your internet service looked at again and be put on hold all right wait a minute hold up so it's just not going to happen i have to go through yeah yeah yeah you have to go through what you went through yesterday or you have to try to convince a flat earther that just won't change back and look do you remember do you remember robert bork when he went for his nomination they ripped that man to shreds and it actually became a term uh to get borked you remember if you were up for a uh a nomination you could get borked robert bork was one of the great legal minds of our time probably as good as anybody we've ever had ronald reagan put him up and before that time and alex i don't know how old you are the supreme court nominees would actually talk about cases they would tell you their philosophy they would tell you why they feel the way they do they would talk about cases well they rip robert bork to shreds because he was going to be a conservative and help to change the makeup of the court and they absolutely destroyed the man for no reason and it wasn't uh uh that he'd had a girlfriend or all that they just made him out like he was some uh you know blooming idiot because he actually believed in the constitution so when that started every nominee after that would say i can't discuss cases that might come before the court well i mean it really the the whole nominating process changed dramatically because they weren't going to tell you anything they thought they might comment on some cases that really didn't matter but abortion gay rights all that stuff they wouldn't touch it wouldn't wouldn't go out i can't comment on that so we really didn't know how they felt but this is a bigger issue than what mitch mcconnell said and to what rick said earlier mitch mcconnell can say anything he wants to mitch mcconnell's not the constitution if you want to quote people look at what ruth bader ginsburg said now we had this thing where on her die and death bed she quoted to to somebody oh don't let them you know replace me with this president and i'm like trump i don't know if she said that or not it doesn't matter i tell you what you can go and look she said and look it up she said the president is the president there's no rule about him not nominating somebody in the last year she said that i mean it's well documented so alex i understand you're trying to show uber fairness in your mind based off the last two examples but if you go back and you look at the broader history of the last 20 30 years back to reagan trump's doing what he ought to do he has a mandate he is the president he has the votes in the senate he needs to move forward let the chips fall where they may politically but that that's you know elections have consequences and that's what we have to do rick yeah well you said it mitch mcconnell uh i disagree with mitch mcconnell all he tried to do is get somebody to go along with him that's not what the constitution said that came out of mitch mcconnell's rear end not the constitution and this thing about packing the court i saw an interview yesterday with ruth bader ginsburg she's on an interview saying nine is the number that we came up with for a reason and that number should not change so if we want to keep ruth bader ginsburg's wishes i guess we've got to keep that one too uh but uh you know ruth bader ginsburg is not the constitution neither is mitch mcconnell uh and as bubba said this um this attacking uh nominee started with robert bork and uh and the democrats started that process as bubba said correctly it even got its own name uh and we've seen you know what they did to kavanaugh and things like that and the political climate yeah the political climate we're living in right now the democrats are just mad because trump's doing what they would do if they had the same right ability to do it and the republicans would disagree with the democrats as mitch mcconnell did if they were in this position it's just politics it's not the constitution uh one of the things trump got elected to do was to see how many conservative judges he could get on the supreme court and he's trying to fulfill one of his promises because he didn't know whether he's going to be reelected or not yeah so i heard one speculation this morning that mcconnell will not call for a vote until after the election to protect some some republican senators i don't know if he will or not but i think i think moving forward is the right thing it's the constitutional obligation to do and really i don't care what joe biden's opinion or mitch mcconnell's is you got the numbers move forward that's why we put you in there yeah and i'd say the same thing if the democrats were in this position and telling us to eat it i'd say they have the right to make us eat it and you know they're threatening to
