all the good stuff that went down this weekend with yesterday's service um so you know you might hear my dogs in the background too that's buster that's barking now but as you know we are in our final a few messages from the chestnut checkers series um conversation with angels so this whole series has just been amazing from start to finish it's been a couple months now we started in february i believe uh with this series um and every week has been like mic drop after mic drop after mic drop and this week was no different so i want to hear from you guys the recap team what were your thoughts on this week's sermon this week's oh definitely i i always feel like bishop is like kind of in my backyard but i feel like this week he was definitely like sitting in the living room um calling me out on some things and i i'm happy to like i'm happy that he said what he said about so many different things because it needed to like we need that that bump on the head sometimes yeah that push together yeah yeah you know we need that that uh what is it like the staff and the the rod and the staff like we need the thump of the staff sometimes so i was definitely really grateful for the message cool antoine roverage i mean we're talking about a man that never misses so you know i honestly this message as dad said was kind of personal uh was like that that get up as my grandmother used to say get up in that collar message hey get it together you know um but now i think it was great you know that was was it the conclusion or we got one move trying to i believe we have we have still one more left okay that's what i thought okay so it's a good prelude to the final yes um yeah cause i was like wait i feel like there's more but i wasn't sure so uh yeah i loved it and i can't wait to get ready to get into this a little bit more red rich what are your thoughts uh yes can you still hear me yep can you okay um no i thought um folks just need to take notes and and take take some time to spend some time with themselves to find out do they feel they have the receptivity to enable them to to to identify with certainly the angels of both the demons in their life certainly we've we've grown from the demons because we've heard about that already but yeah to really make sure we're in that place where we can be receptive to anything that the angels or the angelic may have in store for us or the learnings that we get from the word that that's being uh taught to us every weekend right absolutely so guys in the comments we want to hear from you all too let us know what your thoughts are from this weekend's uh the encounter um as we continued a conversation with angels uh it's it's always amazing for me to see how bishop is bringing everything together you know starting with spiritual warfare and curses and now angels and all these topics you know tend to be taboo in the church they're not typically things that we talk about but to see now the importance of everything and making sure that we have a clear understanding of these things as we continue in our journeys it's been amazing so i'm always like thank you bishop for being in tune with the spirit to even know to to talk about this right um and every week has been amazing but this week for me for sure has you know taken things to a whole new level um because it's how i said it it's bringing everything together in a way that is focused on like our destiny and our purpose and that's for me has always been something that i've struggled with you know i'm leaning through and through you know always questioning you know what is my purpose so it was good that bishop talked on this so um at the start of yesterday's message bishop started with the question if god is with us why must we go through so much trouble you know i think this is something that we all can identify with especially uh in the times that we're in now so i want to hear from you guys when you find yourself in these moments of wondering why why must i go through this what do you say or do to keep yourself encouraged and uplifted um tough time usually happens i try to find hope i not find out i know hope i hope that i have hope in knowing that it's not going to last always you know um it could be a series of things that may overwhelm me that may slightly take my joy or make me not want to talk or whatever changed my demeanor and all that stuff but at the end of the day he always comes through yeah so you know and it's okay to ask god why you know most people say you don't question god you know it's okay to ask them okay why what is this for because in that question breeds faith because now it's like i'm not going to a friend i'm not going anywhere else i'm going to god because i know he's in control so why is this happening yeah so i know how to behave during this time of difficulty because the difficult times prove who we really are when everything's going well everything's great like we don't have nothing to worry about but when difficulty is going on that's when characters really tested that's when your dedication is tested your consistency this doesn't your work ethic you know that push is really tested during that time so um you know for me i my number one thing is knowing that it's always going to work out and then the second thing is i always ask god why and even if he doesn't answer it's like okay i know he's going to work this out yeah so i hope to help somebody help me that's for sure there's a beverage can you re-ask the question so when we find ourselves in those moments of wondering why or why must i go through this what do you say to yourself to keep yourself motivated or encouraged and uplifted um so my aunt taught me this thing of removing whatever that lie is that would make me question otherwise you know like the lies that we tell ourselves when we're going through stuff like like i'm not good enough or i can't do this or god doesn't love me or you know those types of things that kind of cross our minds when we're going through a season of trial my auntie's told me to literally pick it off myself and throw it away you know so that's one thing that i've learned to do and that's you know that's a physical thing that i'm doing for my spiritual being you know um and another thing i do i'm really on like just sitting and listening to worship music um yeah to just to just sit and ride my business and listen to worship music and somehow i mean obviously not somehow but it always comes back around where it's like okay you're actually gonna be fine you're gonna be like you're going through something this might be a really bad situation or whatever you're going through but it always like once my mind comes back to like okay it's going to be fine whatever that situation it doesn't seem as big you know yeah so this kind of like sets the atmosphere those things um exactly um as well as as simple as it is prayer like and not um not in a way that's kind of like you know god can you help me with it or whatever it is like it can be a simple prayer but i generally have a moment where i'm full on deep down like i need help right now yeah and i need you to to move this to shake this thing um and a lot of times it it happens suddenly like the moments of prayer so yeah just taking that time as well cool beverage well that was beautiful um what we just heard from both days and and antoine i i can i can tell you i'm 59 now so i can remember a time i was probably 37 or 36 and i was going through something and and um and bishop saw me and we were walking to church or something he was walking in front of me and he says how how's it going rich i said well it could be better i said but it could be a whole lot worse he turned it on he turned around and put his arms on my shoulder he said that's what i would expect to hear from the son of god you know and it made me it made me feel better when he said that um and that was not rich speaking at the time that was the spirit within me speaking that it could be better but it could be a whole lot worse even in our darkest times even in my darkest times i've always looked at where god's brought me from i've always turned to what other people are going through and i also always turn to how can i start to help you know when i'm when it's when i'm not doing good i start to reach out not that you shouldn't always be reaching out but reaching out and how can i help this person to help that person somebody's doing worse than i am and then and in addition to those couple things jesus took on the sins of every single one of us and felt it so we may be going something through something because of something we did or something that just happened or just because of life but when i think about what other folks are going through and i think what god brought me through when i think about how worse it could be when i think about what jesus did doesn't make it any easier you still got to go through it but it gives you some sense of okay let me make sure i keep this in a proper perspective i don't like it i don't like it at all but let me make sure yeah i'm looking at the way god would have me to look at it that's good because perspective is important it gives you a whole it humbles you it allows you to see okay of course i'm not wanting to go through this but like you said there's so much worse that could be done so i love that and i love what you said to daz about um being able to speak uh to yourself and speak back to those lies um that are are said uh because it's exercising that weapon that we have as children of god to speak life and things up into existence um instead of getting lost in like that woe is me mindset that i think could be so easy to fall into um so bishop mentioned in the message that we must have a faith revelation of god's reality of our lives not our reality but god's reality and believing the word that god has for us and this is what the purpose of angels is is to help is to help reveal and describe the word of god as reality to our lives so bishop gave the illustration of gideon and how god sent an angel to gideon to have a destiny conversation with him god called gideon to be a mighty man of valor but gideon was too in his feelings i feel like that's a drake song he was two in his feelings his doubts and insecurities to believe he could fulfill the purpose of his life gideon continued in that same negative mindset of comparing his testimony to others and like moses doubting his capabilities as a child of god now how many of us have done that how often have we second guessed ourselves or talked ourselves out of things and because of our fear and our doubts our insecurities and comparisons of others bishop said that when destiny conversation occurs what he sees for our lives seems to be too great for the perception we have of ourselves so my question now is how can we stop our negative perceptions our negative reasoning from blocking us from moving forward in god's calling for our lives and especially in regards to having a conversation with an angel you know it can be hard to even see that you're having that conversation if you don't think that you're worthy to be in that position so how can we not let our insecurities block our blessings um well we certainly we certainly are supposed to be uh meek but not weak right um it's all right for us to go boldly before the three the the throne of grace without being pompous or biased or prideful because we know pride is spoken of in in proverbs over and over and over again and and pride not gonna is not going to get us anywhere but we don't have to be weak there's an article that ursula uh andrews who was uh is her nice name ursula andrews well anyway her first name is ursula i don't think andrews is the last name but she wrote a uh she was the ceo of xerox i forget her last name i think i had it wrong she wrote she was the ceo of xerox and she wrote an article about being a minority black and a woman in that role and there were zero at the time when she was the ceo of xerox and the article she wrote in the harvard business review was i'm here because i'm as good as you are right and and many times and we've talked about this over and over and over about the words that have been spoken into our lives that have been negative or the feelings that we felt about not being good enough or supposed to be there and we have to know that as children of god as children of god he's told us he's justified us he sanctified us he's we have been given the authority within him you know freely imputed to us of him that we belong it doesn't mean we have to go around saying how great we are we're not supposed to do that but we shouldn't have this feeling about i don't belong here we should be cognizant of the fact that we are sinners saved by grace but once we have been justified we belong oh oh we belong and we should be able to have that that um that conversation with the angels and and if we don't know there's an angel draw the sword and get ready to fight until we know uh-oh maybe i better hold out this is gabriel i don't need i don't need to do that but we have to know that we belong because that the lord has justified us amen the dance fine desiree uh repeat the question one more time all right so the question is um how can we not let our negative perceptions or negative reasoning you know talking ourselves or saying what we can't do uh block us from moving forward in god's calling for our life um and even considering you know in that conversation with angels sometimes we don't realize we're in those moments because we don't think we're good enough yeah i mean i think uh ref which really hit me on top of the head but um the feeling of not feeling good enough in the presence of god um i learned that some of that comes from some unresolved issues with god whether you did not forgive yourself or you have not asked for forgiveness so sometimes we feel this overwhelming conviction or we're reminded of our past um because either we have not let it go and really given it to him uh or we have not truly truly uh walked in that forgiveness that he's already provided freely so that's one thing um another thing for the other part is which already said it he chose you so if god decides to show up in the angelic presence and say hey i called you to do x y and z first and foremost there should be some level of rejoicing i mean i could be scary depending on the messenger and how it comes but there should be some level of rejoicing because in spite of what you know you've done in spite of how you feel about yourself and your past he still decided that you were good enough to do what he called you to do why because in the process of you being called is when he will perfect you that's where he will purify you where he will justify you where he will bless you where he will heal you from those past decisions i think when i think of this i always think of david you know he was he was the man he made one mistake and went to god for forgiveness god forgave him he took the baby but he got up and did what he had to do afterwards and he's one of our greatest examples when we have to have these hard moments in the presence of god where we have to deal with you know god's judgment because he does judge but in regards to him speaking to us and giving us purpose it's part of the word yeah it's part of the very word as christians that we pray and we prophesy and we speak and we believe so if god's coming to you through his word the very way that he said he was going to do my thing for for everybody is just believe him take him at his word because if he came to you that means you have work to do if he didn't come to you you still have work to do because you're part of the kingdom but like as i said before you got to get rid of those unresolved issues and that will help you ease through that conversation with the angel rather than contemplating law well you know i'm so sinful or i still got a hate treated in my heart i'm not good enough for this and i can't do that no no no no in spite of all of that god saw that he's still going to use you because it's not your ability it's god's right come on deacon antoine who is this um i think it's so interesting that impostor syndrome has been around since the beginning of time um the feeling of not being good enough for the for whatever journey whatever project that was put on your life and it like it just shows how big our egos can get in the way of what god is saying and how we need to minimize ourselves more and how because i know like for me i suffer from i've had no i don't want to claim anymore but i have had moments of imposter syndrome where it is it is my own thoughts have gotten in the way of a project or a situation or something i know that i want to do that i've been called to do that is a passion of mine but i'll talk myself out even though i was called to do it you know yeah and get in my own way so it's i find it so interesting that like anton just used one of the many examples in the bible of imposter syndrome you know like and there and it just shows how how god shows up even though we get in our own way he shows up and he continues to give a chance after a chance and goes you know you might not get it this time but i'm going to keep pointing to you like what he did of moses like no you got it no you really do i promise you you know um yeah until i i i really appreciate that about god i appreciate that he continues to give chance after dance um and will use his angels around around you to speak that thing into you again you know so it's like even like so that their voices are louder his voice is louder than your ego and what you're telling yourself you know so like i had a conversation with a very like a somebody i look up to very very much um and i was telling them that i was like i'd suffer from impostor syndrome and i don't think that this is and the person said to me if i didn't think you could do what i wouldn't have told you and called on you to do it so yeah in that same way that's how god sees us it's like if i didn't think if i didn't put it in you already i wouldn't have called it wouldn't be on your heart to do it wouldn't be pulling you to do it so and bishop mentioned about doing it you know like yeah doing the thing you know so that's how i was like he wasn't he was in my backyard this week he was right there sitting in the living room grab the coffee beat up on the table so yeah nice did you want to say something antoine i did because dead said something and it clicked in my head the amazing thing about god and i don't know who this is for the amazing thing about god is that he always comes back men women mothers fathers boyfriends girlfriends friends they always leave they come but they go but they can think about god is that he always comes back even when we ourselves don't feel like we are uh up to his standard he always comes back so in the midst of us trying to figure out his purpose thing i don't know who's in their purpose walk right now trying to figure things out steps out and maybe you're reflecting on a mistake we just want to encourage you but that god is coming back to you to say hey i'm here for you i'm your father you know i want to take you somewhere that you've never been before just take his hand in these moments that we're talking and then even when the playback comes on and allow god to walk you through those steps i don't know what that was for but y'all go ahead take that and let me and let me add to that uh antoine and not to um let me add to that let me ask you a question do you think god comes back but god's there he's there you just you do when you're the one that went away you're the one there he hasn't gone nowhere he's always there i will never leave you or forsake you we tend to kind of and then it's like the prodigal son we're running back to him you know like commissioner and i'm running back to you the song so i i contend that i agree with what you said i just think if we if we say god is there he's there even when he's silent even when you've strayed even when you're you you know you don't know he's just waiting for you to say extend your hand his hand's right there waiting on you but you got to you know extend your hand too so i just wanted to add that on to what you said not to disagree just to say i think he i don't think he has to come back i think god is is there yeah that's good that's good anyone said lawrence we see your question in the comments um about uh conversations with angels really encourage you to go back and watch this whole series uh because bishop goes into great detail about how angels are sent to deliver messages for us from god and how we hopefully by the end of this be able to entertain and recognize um those conversation opportunities with them a little bit better but like i was saying angels are sent to mediate the presence of god and always come with the message addressing our present connecting us with our future uh in this illustration of gideon the angel god displayed patience with gideon and expressing his doubts he did not give up on gideon and after the first and second time the angel the angel walked gideon through the process of realizing uh who he is and what he is called to do a conversation with angels will guide the servant releasing the word of god and as we become aware of the reality of angels in the word of god and understand the spiritual nature of things in the word of god we know that all things that manifest here on earth are created in heaven and that's kingdom faith i'm assuming that that's where we're getting you know staring into for our next sermon series right uh but it's important to remember that god has not placed us in a position to fail but it requires our participation the angels come to deliver the message but it is our participation in the process that leads to the promised miracle and as bishop mentioned in the illustration of the birth of samson samson's mother received the revelation from the angel and acted on her faith following the instruction now another thing that i loved about this illustration was that um it was how important uh samson's father uh how important his role in making sure that the instructions were being met he was called to support her not steer her away from the calling and as bishop mentioned it's important to understand our purpose we are created to make an impact in the lives of those who are assigned to love and whose and who is assigned to love us and so i think that was a beautiful illustration of manoa that samson's daddy uh that was a great illustration of how you know he was never visited by the angel but he still had a role to play in that deliverance and following that destruction instructions that was given to him so let's talk about the importance of the company we keep not only as a source of encouragement but in pushing us through the process of our calling how important is it that we're mindful of our circle well i was about to say uh bad company was a bad company corrupts new characters it's something along their lines um trying to remember the exact scripture on top of my head but you have to be careful about your circle you know um because your circle influences you just as much as you influence it uh the people that you hang around you tend to and we know this the people hang around you tend to start saying things that they say you know certain things that they like you may end up liking um music video games art etc you know because we are social creatures so then if you recognize in your circle that your circle is not going forward in the same way that you're going forward i i think i saw something on passing instagram it popped up this whole video of bishop talking about what uh walking and agreeing actually means and he had deacon traitor um linked locked arm in arm with him and they were walking and he said this is agreement not walking together is an agreement but walking together linked his agreement because if i go left he has to go left if i go right he has to go right and vice versa if he goes right i have to go right no matter what we're together you know because we're not holding hands we're not linked you can go right and i can still keep going straight and we're in two different directions so the company that you keep you have to think of yourselves as one unit so when you're moving is your is your company moving with you is your group is your friend group doing the same thing in their arena going forward versus being stagnant being negative not believing in the things of god not walking in the ways of the spirit you know and because that can influence you as you're having conversations with them as you're trying to you know still be social and all that stuff you know that it can influence you and it can be heartbreaking too because you're like oh man i wish i could talk to y'all about this but i can't you know that kind of thing too so i it's very important you know being close to the right people are very important because we are relational beings and god brings things to us through people so we have to be careful i would just like same exact thing um being mindful of the people around you also like when it comes to partnering with people like if you're um a female being make sure you're partnered with somebody who's leading you in the right direction if you're male is that person helping you you know what i mean like anton just said if you're linked together and you're like at the side are you guys turning at the same in the same direction are you guys leading in the same direction are you carrying each other in the same way am i starting to break up is that what's happening nope nope you're good okay cool um but yeah so you want to make sure that that's also happening as well so be mindful of your friends being mindful who you're partnering with being mindful of some type of family um because there might be family members that you can't really be around or you have to make sure that you love from a distance because you're like the environment just isn't comforting and or comforting for your soul you know like your soul has to feel safe and god has to feel safe present wherever you are so um i think that that's really really important and i'm finding that that's more it's becoming a bigger part of my life now like really really being in tune about like the space that i am in and the people that i'm yeah that's what you got anything to add i i thought those were those were both really good uh views on on what that means i you know certainly jesus had the 12 disciples because you know man is not meant to be alone people are not meant to be alone there's a part of our walk there's a part of our walk with god where it's okay to do it alone you know moses would alone ruth was alone for a while joseph was alone for a while job was alone for a while no you know it's on and on and on and on and jesus was alone and paul was alone and david was alone doesn't mean that they did not have the the the community of people in their camp that was the right community of people but there was portions of that wall of their walk that had to be done alone and that's okay um and and and sometimes people can't embrace that um but it's all right to to be in that place where you're just alone with god and it may not be for a minute it may be like for weeks or months yeah it's just not that you're not not that you won't have other people around you but it's just but the reality is that it's you and god going on this path and and and some of those folks are there to help some of those folks that help to you know for confirmation some of those folks to help to to make that dead road a little rough but nevertheless is the road is the road that that you have to travel um just two quick things the first one the ursula burns it burns from from xerox and um this question from lawrence wallace i was going to ask you to reference that okay in light of what you just said what place then does the holy spirit play certainly the holy spirit is real and certainly the holy spirit is what jesus said he would send to us as a comforter because he was not here and so holy spirit father son the holy spirit all three are one the trinity they're all one so that's god living in us as we walk every day but but the the holy spirit is different from an angel the angel is bringing to you the word of god or instruction directly from god this can you can get instruction from god in many ways the series we've been looking at uh lawrence and what we're talking about now is is those angelic messages that come directly from god for us so we're not going to get that confused with the holy spirit um one is what jesus has given to us as he and dwells in us through our exceptions of him as our lord and savior the other is that which comes directly from god to us for some particular purpose at a particular time and that we want to make sure that we're receptive to that when it when it does come i hope hope that helps but certainly everybody else on the panel will
