[Music] thank you good morning good morning good morning as the old preachers say that sounded all right for me but can I get a round of applause for the King of Kings for the one who died for you and saved your soul because without him where would we be glory to God hello Potter's House y'all can sit down for a second I'll let you get back up when I read the word but man I have the incredible honor of preaching right after woman Thou Art loose lucky me when they played the video of all those fabulous speakers we saw I was just like bless the Lord yes that's something but we're gonna get in here and know that the anointing is Flowing right from there through here and I'm so honored to have been able to be there I know many of you were there many of the staff were here I want to acknowledge them who flew home last night and still showed up here this morning to Serve the People and for all of you who are there I know you were so blessed and I have to just take my moment to honor Bishop Jakes as well and first lady Sarita for what they have done 30 years of the woman now our loose movement that's not all their long Ministry life but just talking about woman now are loose 30 years I was a teenager when it started and it has been impacted my life so much and uh Pastor Sarah said something on Friday night as she was honoring her father about him holding the door open for so many women and she talked about him open the door for her Tasha Cobb talked about how he opened the door for her and I want to thank you Bishop for opening the door for me thank you so much it's just been about two years ago that I stood here on a Sunday morning and shared a message called good ground and that Revelation was life-changing for me and I was so honored to share it with you and quickly I want to let you know that the Revelation has continued to unfold and has turned into a book and that book is called The Garden within where the war with your emotions ends and your most powerful Life Begins when God planted that Garden in Eden he wasn't just making a cushy place for us to live he was showing us how we're constructed on the inside we are literally an embodied Garden spiritually psychologically physically and I'm telling you this Revelation continues to blow my mind so listen the book is available for pre-order if you'd like to pre-order it so many of you message me saying Dr Anita you bless me how can I bless you this is how this is how you can you can pre-order this book that's what you can do thank you for blessing me back I appreciate it but so honored to tell you that Bishop opened the door for this platform to be able to talk about mental health at this level and I'm so grateful for that opportunity because the body of Christ needs to be well amen amen and I have to honor my friend Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts as well and just what we saw God do over this uh weekend and this transition this generational moment we saw the Fulfillment of a promise we saw the Fulfillment of a promise and that's what I want to talk to you about today oh I can't stop so excuse me in his absence I must honor my husband Pastor Michael Phillips when I came out there and sat there by myself I was feeling real pitiful that that seat next to me was empty but I talked to him this morning and and made sure that I sounded like I was going to make sense and and he woke up early to listen to me and cover me always Pastor Michael I love you I love you so much I'm so honored to have a man of God who has always covered my gift and protected me and supported me and pushed me to be everything that God has made me to be to fulfill the promise of God in my life so I'm grateful for that get you a good one get you a good one but we saw this promise fulfilled over the weekend a generational promise we saw a promise fulfilled in Bishop's life and all that he laid out over those 30 years but we also saw a promise being fulfilled in Pastor Sarah's life as God made room for everything that he has planned for her to continue to evolve and we're so excited about that but I grew up understanding that what's on the head gets on the rest of the house when I see something happening for my leadership I try to run and get right up under there I want the oil to drip down on me when I see God moving in my husband's life I rub up against him I say let the oil drop on me because he covers me and so we're in a house here our e-church members where something huge is happening this promised fulfillment moment I'm going to talk to you today about getting up under there make sure you don't miss what God has for you what's your grandmother prayed what's your great-grandmother prayed would your Mama Prayed what you prayed what's your daddy prayed what's your believing for your children there's a moment sometimes you got to make sure you don't miss a moment we want to see promises fulfilled and so I'm going to go from Hebrews a very familiar chapter today Hebrews chapter 11. now you can stand up I'm going to read this word and then I'm going to pray and I tell you I don't know what God's going to do in here today because it's been a crazy morning and so I know that means god is getting ready to make something important happen in our lives on today and I'm about to read a whole lot of scriptures because you know what we don't read enough and the Bible speaks for itself so will anybody be mad if I read Hebrews chapter 11. y'all can read it with me now I'm in the King James version because I'm old school I can't help myself but if you got one read it with me now Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of Things Not Seen for by it the elders obtained a good report watch how powerful the word of God is by the time we finish reading this chapter your faith is going to be being resurrected renewed recharged upgraded in the name of Jesus through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear by faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain by which he obtained witness that he was righteous God testifying of his gifts and by it he being dead yet speaketh by faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found because God had translated him for before his translation he had this testimony that he pleased God God let us please you but without faith it is impossible to please him for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him by faith Noah being warned of God of things not seen as yet moved with fear prepared an ark to the saving of his house by the which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is by Faith by faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should have to receive for an inheritance obeyed and he went out not knowing where he went by faith he sojourned in the land of promise as in a strange country dwelling in Tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob The Heirs with him of those same promise for he looks for a city which have foundations whose Builder and maker is God through faith also Sarah herself receives strength to conceive seeds Sarah didn't start out strong but she came through she received to conceived seed and was delivered of a child when she was past age because she judged who faithful who had promised therefore spring there even of one in him as good as dead so many as the stars of the sky in multitude and as the sand which is in the sea by the seashore innumerable I want you to know today that there's some things in your life that are as good as dead but God is getting ready to do something these all died in faith I need you to hear me I'm going to be speaking to you prophetically today you better catch it these all died in faith not having received the promises you mean their promise was not fulfilled because that's the stuff we're going for right we want to get our stuff but there was more not having received the promises my God my God he so that I lost my place what verse was I on 19 thank you 13. thank you y'all are paying attention these all died in faith not having received the promises but having seen them afar off and were persuaded of them and embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the Earth for they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country and truly if they had been mindful of that country from which they came out they might have had an opportunity to have returned some of us are a little too mindful of our country we're a little too mindful of our literal country we're a little too mindful of our brand we're a little too mindful of our goals a little too mindful of our purpose we've got so focused on that we're forgetting God all of that has to be built on the right foundation don't forget that but now they desire a better country that is a Heavenly one wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God for he hath prepared for them a city by faith Abraham when he was tried offered up Isaac and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son of whom it was said that in Isaac thy seed Shall be Called has God ever asked you to give up something that you thought was supposed to be and then it went away and you weren't supposed okay accounting that God was able to raise him up even from the dead from whence also he received him in a figure by faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come by faith Jacob when he was dying bless the sons of Joseph and worshiped leaning on top of his staff by faith Joseph when he died made mention of the departing of the children of Israel and gave commandment concerning his bones by faith Moses when he was born was hit three months of his parents because they saw he was a proper child and they were not afraid of the king's commandment listen to this closely because we're going to spend time with Moses today by faith Moses when he was come to years refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter choosing rather to suffer Affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season are you willing esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward by faith he forsook Egypt he forsooks sin he forsook Egypt not fearing the Wrath of the king for he endured as seeing him who was invisible through faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them by faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land which the Egyptians are saying to do were drowned your enemies won't be able to chase you by faith the walls of Jericho fell down I ain't gonna mess with that Pastor Sarah and told us after they were encompassed seven days by faith the Harlot Rahab perished not with them that believe not when she had received the spies with peace what more shall I say what a legacy we have those are all your ancestors in spirit that's your family story don't forget that this is your family story yeah you got a family story here on Earth we all got them and those stories are messy and these stories are messy too but they're ours we are related by Spirit to these individuals my God and what more shall I say for the time would fail for me to tell if Gideon and Barack and of Samson and jephthah and David also and Samuel and of the prophets who through faith subdued kingdoms brought righteousness obtain promise stop the mouths of Lions points the violence of fire escape the edge of the sword out of weakness were made strong wax Valiant and fight turn to flight the enemies the armies of the aliens women receive their dead Race To Life others were tortured oh of the turn we're still in the same chapter oh it was like yes yes others were tortured not accepting Deliverance that means they could have but they didn't not accepting Deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection and others had a trial trial of cruel mockings and scourgings he had more over a bonds and imprisonment they were stoned they were sauna Sunder were tempted were slain with the sword they wandered about in sheepskins and goat skins being destitute Afflicted tormented these are Heroes of Faith please stop thinking that when things aren't going right your faith must be weak please stop thinking when things aren't going right that somehow you've dropped the ball these are Heroes of Faith sometimes our testimonies and how we go through Somebody's Watching You of whom the world was not worthy my God they wandered in deserts and in mountains and in dens and caves of the Earth are y'all tired of the word I hope not verse 39 this is our verse and all of these having obtained a good report through faith received not the promise God having provided some better thing for us that they without us should not be made perfect all of these people received not a promise that we get to have but it's not free it's not free father God in the name of Jesus we thank you for the opportunity to be in this house at this moment under these leaders during this shift when the promises are being fulfilled we want our hearts in line so that we do receive the promise that we may be made perfect in relationship with our spiritual ancestors so that your work is fulfilled in US give us the humility today give us the willingness to lay some things down shine a light on our hearts let us see parts of ourselves we may not have noticed convict us and change us before you bless us again because we want to receive it fully fully fully the fulfilled promise in Jesus name amen amen have a seat have a seat oh my God what an amazing promise we have I love reading the word I tell you sometimes we could just come together and read the Bible and go home because the word is so powerful and we sometimes those church kids like me we take it for granted especially when we don't read it out loud read your Bible out loud it's good to read your Bible out loud to hear the word of God but when I was a young Christian I need to start this habit again I used to I had the um cassettes the Bible cassettes Elder Christy remember when it was a cassette it was no DVD it wasn't no MP3 weren't no download I had the tape set and that was before bishop and some of these other folks y'all did that great production I just had the British white dude that's who was reading it you know we didn't have all these diversity we just had that one sound but I would play it in my car and repeat after it all of it the begets everything and man that word started coming up in my life in unexpected moments and unexpected places and I didn't realize how much of it I was memorizing but you can't have it come up if you don't put it in and so I had to put it in and it doesn't have to be I want you to eat the whole thing not just that one scripture that seems to apply what you need to what you need today then baguettes started getting me happy because the word is alive and so the word is Jesus it is Jesus he's the word in the beginning was the word and the Word was God and the Word was with God he's the word and Jesus is also a seed and so we have to understand that in order to receive the promise I'm going to switch to go quickly to Galatians 3 and we're going to hop around a little bit today but we're going to have a good time Galatians chapter 3. we learned something about the promise this section has the heading in my Bible I'm reading this from the NIV this time because this was a little tough The Heading is the law and the promise I came to tell you this morning that the law can't be fulfilled in your heart till the prom I'm sorry the promise can't be fulfilled in your heart until the law is fulfilled in your heart Jesus was the promise but he also came to fulfill the law and so it's important to see here that this section is talking about the law and the promise because we have to have both verse 16. the promises were spoken to Abraham into his seed scripture does not say and to seeds meaning many people but and to your seed meaning one person who is Christ what I mean is this the law introduced 430 years later after Abraham was already got his word from the Lord does not set aside the Covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise for if the inheritance depends on the law then it no longer depends on the promise but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise why then was the law given at all why could we just get the promise it was added because of transgressions until the sea that's a capital S over here we're talking about Christ to whom the promise referred had come the law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator it's so important that we recognize Jesus here as a seed because that's going to be critical to understanding how he fulfilled the law but first we're going to look at Moses remember him we can't talk about the law without looking at Moses because Jesus Moses is a type of Christ he's a forerunner of Christ and it's amazing how many things they have in common both Jesus and Moses were almost killed by an evil ruler they had to be hidden as babies both of them one was hidden from the evil king Pharaoh one was hidden from the evil King Herod Moses was sent into Egypt to have his life preserved Jesus was taken to Egypt to have his life preserved I love this part Moses was saved by women his mother Miriam yes was his mother Miriam saved him Jesus was saved by his mother Mary whose Hebrew name is Miriam they were both saved by a Miriam both Moses and Jesus were adopted Moses was adopted by Pharaoh Jesus was adopted by Joseph Moses became a prince of Egypt Jesus is the Prince of Peace both of them we don't know much about their growing up they're little and then they're big so we don't see a whole lot there but we know that they did grow up to the important point of their Ministry Moses had a secret identity people didn't know he was a Hebrew Jesus had a secret identity they didn't know he was the son of God ha Moses tried to save a Hebrew Kinsmen Jesus came to save his Hebrew Kinsmen first but then he got on to us Moses went from being a prince to a pauper he went for being rich to broke in the castle to the Wilderness well Jesus left heaven and came down here I'd say that would seem like a demotion if it wasn't so powered by love both of them saved women at a well Moses met some women trying to draw water from a well they were being harassed and he sent those men away and saved some women by well we know Jesus also saved a woman at a well they both became Shepherds Moses mission was to redeem Israel From Slavery to Egypt Jesus mission was to redeem All of Us From Slavery to sin Moses was loved and supported in his ministry by his sister Miriam Jesus was loved and supporting in his ministry by his mother Mary slash Miriam who started his ministry when she said I need you to do something about this water wine situation Jesus said ah it's not my time she said do what I told him to do a woman not only birth Jesus but kicked him into his spot Moses was rejected at first by his own people and Jesus was often rejected by his own people Moses spent 40 days fasting on a mountain Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the desert Moses performed signs of Miracles Jesus performed signs and miracles isn't that amazing Moses offered his life for the Salvation of his people after the sin of the golden calf he said God don't kill him take me Jesus offered his life for the Salvation of the world if you don't see the similarities you won't understand how Jesus fulfilled the law Jesus picked up everything that Moses was doing but got ready to make it bigger because we also have to look at how Moses got the law to see how Jesus fulfilled the law now they didn't tell us this in Sunday School I don't remember this in Sunday school I just remember Moses coming down the mountain with some tablets they had the Roman numerals one through ten we colored those in that's all I remember from the Sunday school story but if you actually get in there and read the whole story in your Bible we found out that that was not how it started in the beginning God was talking back and forth to Moses just thundering and lightning this is like Exodus 19. and he's up there and they hear the thunder and the lightning and he comes down and then tells people stuff he goes back but then God told him to bring the people to the base of the mountain and then I'm going to talk to them and so Moses went up did what he said brought Aaron up did everything you read it read it later and he gathered to people at the base of the mountain and when the first The Ten Commandments that we call them were given God spoke them to the people they were not chiseled first from his mouth the word of God literally Jesus fell out his mouth that's the word of God directly to the people he told them his Commandments he was speaking directly to them but they didn't like it it scared him and I kind of get it about a decade ago oh much longer than that God I don't like to think about it it's been a while I went to Seattle for the first time and now I grew up in New Jersey and then Baltimore is where I lived and so I hadn't really seen like massive natural wonders so I lived on the East Coast we had the ocean but you know there's not a lot of natural wonders on in the Northeast we got some water we don't get extreme weather so like tornadoes hurricanes like it's just not a lot of natural wonder there's a lot of tall buildings a lot of people but not a lot of natural wonder so the first time I went to Seattle I was speaking at an academic conference and they put me in this beautiful hotel way up on a high floor and Seattle was covered in a blanket of fog I had never seen fog like that in my life anybody familiar with Seattle's fog it is crazy and so I opened all the curtains in the room it was just glass all around the room and everything was just solid white it was as if there was a white curtain or something on the other side that's how thick the fog was and so I couldn't see anything had to get ready for my presentation anyway so I just went back onto working on it I went to bed that night but when I woke up the next morning I was able to sleep in a little bit the fog had cleared and that mountain there's a mountain Lord the name of the mountain is slipping my mind right now somebody yelled out Mount Rainier I have I mean when I saw that there is a massive if you don't know Mountain sitting behind Seattle I've never seen anything that big it literally scared me I can still feel my heart kind of constricting I was just like oh my God it had snow on top but it was like warm down on the ground it was huge and I made myself stand there it scared me so much I kind of wanted to close the curtains it was that big and close from this hotel room but I made myself stand there and feel that kind of fear it was a it was a type of fear because it felt it made me feel so small that kind of awe of God we don't always have the opportunity to feel we don't take the time to feel that we're we forget that we're tiny the Earth Is His do you know how small we are tiny Vapor job said of Our Lives in the scene of Eternity and I just stood there and tears ran down my face because I was like God oh my God we think we got it together in our tall buildings but you shake the ground hard enough it all comes down I'm looking forward to one day having a little summer Beach property but you know what I remember that tsunami in Taiwan this world is Big he made something huge and we're small so now I'm reading this and I'm imagining that Mountaineer but with thunder and lightning coming out of it and I think I understand the Israelites they were like yeah um we don't you talk to him we don't we don't need to talk to him it scared him it shook him and I'm guessing it probably made him feel small it made him feel powerless and they should have in comparison to God but we don't like that feeling so we often move away from the part of him that makes us feel like that we just go to a couple scriptures that we love I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me we don't we don't go to the things that remind us that we're small but you have to remember that you're small and that he still requires things of us holiness man did Priscilla Shire teach that on Friday on Friday morning he still requires Holiness see they didn't stand there long enough to absorb the fear of God and that remained their problem for the rest of the time they said we're afraid Moses you talk to him and tell us what he says and they left but here's the problem sound elicit an emotional response it's one thing to read a book that somebody wrote but it's another to get the audio book and here the author saying the words the way that they meant them with their intonations with their inflections it's like a whole different book because I hear what the author was trying to say to me they did not want to hear his voice directly because it was impacting them emotionally so they detracted them so they extracted themselves from the space but that meant that they extracted hearts from his voice and so now they wait for Moses to come and tell them we don't need an emotional connection to Moses's voice we need God's voice but they didn't want that so now Moses is going back and forth telling them what God said because that's what they asked for and he and they already agreed but they're not hearing the word of God the seeds of the word are not falling on their hearts the word is a seed my nickname for Jesus is word seed because that's what he is from the moment of creation the Bible says nothing without him was made when God opened his mouth and said let there be let there be that was Jesus falling out of his mouth and on the third day those words seeds fell out of his mouth onto the ground and plants sprung up and when they messed up and ate the fruit they shouldn't have eaten they swallowed a seed they shouldn't have swallowed it changed the ground of their bodies and the ground of the Earth because there was a new seed growing new stuff that's a problem because they took the word seed from the serpent instead of a word seed from God yeah words matter and all words are seeds he is the word seed but all words are seas everything you say the things you listen to that thing your mama said to you when you were small that thing that first boyfriend said when he broke up with you that hurts your feelings those words seeds they're falling that Pastor that you may have come from who didn't treat the word properly word seeds falling falling falling they had the opportunity to have the seeds of God's word falling on them and they they chose something less powerful Less Direct don't do that I'm not direct Bishop is amazing he ain't direct you better listen to God we need our pastors to teach us but don't you ever replace your willingness to get in your prayer closet read that Bible out loud and hear what God has to say to you you have to listen to the voice of God people wouldn't be able to trick you if you are listening to the voice of God you wouldn't have all this church heard from that church that was toxic if you were listening to the voice of God you would have noticed that Pastor didn't sound nothing like him I'm just saying I'm just never not hear it for yourself see that's why those who preceded the law were able to have faith because God spoke directly to Abraham he had a word in his heart from God Noah had a word in his heart from God Enoch walked with him so I know he talked with him so he had to have a word in his heart from God it can't be doordash all the time you got to go cook you get that food and cook it yourself [Applause] and it takes more work and it takes more time but it's worth it because I need the right seeds falling on my heart but they didn't want it because it scared them and we're not scared enough of God I know that's not the 2022 message and I'll just preach the Elder Christy because I know she'll be all right with it we're not scared enough of God let me tell you we were afraid of God and we needed to be when I was a child we within shut-ins overnight everybody had to fast the kids everybody you'll be all right [Applause] we believed now we he we give him the soft version now I'm not saying we got to traumatize them all with the market of Beast movie I'm still working through that and it's gonna be okay that guillotine in that balloon if any of y'all are familiar I don't want to trigger you but it mattered that we had some healthy fear of God that don't mean I did everything right all the time I had a few moments and then quite a few moments that freshman year boy you wake up somewhere and it was quiet storm when you went to sleep and his gospel when you wake up anybody just just me okay okay but when Quiet Storm was on and I wasn't with Jesus I was feeling all right about what I was doing this is this Sunday morning I won't get no more explicit than that but when I woke up they had switched to the gospel and I get oh God ain't nobody but me ever prayed please don't come back before I wake up to Mama Jesus please don't come back before I get a chance to get out of this club and repent please don't come back because I might be left I had some fear but if it sounds scary we push back because we don't want it's a cost but so much yeah but it's expensive the Fulfillment is expensive it was expensive for Jesus and it's going to be expensive for you but it's worth it it's worth it so anyway Moses is going back and forth he's doing the thing so he writes down the laws that he's getting from God on a scroll go ahead and admit some of y'all didn't know that first you know G that God spoke it directly then they put Moses in the middle and they and then he started writing it down on Scrolls to give to the people Exodus 24 check me later but then God decided I'm going to write it myself Moses come up to the mountain I'm going to write it myself I can't have you writing I'm going to write some stuff so they know it's my law I wrote it my law because Moses is log on Pat but my law my law and he wrote it on a stone tablet he wrote it on a rock I believe that Jesus was the stone that the builders rejected but became the Chief Cornerstone there's a reason why he didn't chisel it in Wood he wrote it on a stone he wrote it on a stone a rock he chiseled it in this matters because Jesus is also a seed and he's coming for your heart and in the Bible soil always represents the heart and some of you may not know this because I'm a science geek but soil is just broken down rock particles that's where soil comes from rock that breaks down into small pieces when it breaks down into tiny rocks and sand when it breaks down even smaller it's called silt the smallest pieces are called clay they stick together but they all broke down from a rock and they all maintain the quality some qualities from The Rock they came from not all the qualities but some of the qualities and that's what happened when the fall happened the rock got broken down and we we got some stuff but we don't got all this stuff and some of y'all are kind of more clay so you get Mirey and you get stuck and some of y'all are Sandy so you can't hold no hope water you dry and the plant can't Thrive and and some of you are silk silt is fertile but you grow faith and fear you got thorns and fruit some of y'all all of us are just broken down pieces [Applause] of The Rock but he chiseled word into word that wouldn't pass away because he knew we would need it later so that's how we got to the tablets it was a three-step process God spoke directly they disconnected emotionally Moses wrote it down but God said I'm going to write what's mine I'm gonna write what's mine this matters this matters a lot because we need to see how Jesus then fulfills the law because until he fulfills the law in your heart can't fulfill the promise he has done it overall but has he done it is it in your heart because the seed is always trying to get to the soil can I just tell you the entire Bible is a love story between a seed and soil from day three to Jesus hiding as a seed in the soil of a woman's body when things went wrong a seeds got into a woman's body and there he hid and there he traveled in the soil of her body when he stood there for the parable of the sower said A sower went out to sow seeds that Parable the sower is just the ruins of Eden I've taught you all this before we in Eden we had grass herb bearing seed and fruit trees remember on day three and then they ate The Bad Seed and it changed the ground and so now they had Barren ground struggling ground by the sweat of your brow you'll make bread which means it'll be hard to grow wheat and then we had fruit trees which represented that Legacy and instead of the trees Thorns grew up I had grass herb bear and Seed crops and fruit trees and now I got Barren struggling and thorny and that's in Genesis 3 but then all of a sudden in Matthew 13 here's Jesus telling me a parable and we got Barren soil struggling soil and so he's standing in the ruins of Eden talking about God sowing the word seeds again and God loves you so much and cares for your heart so much that he's willing to sprinkle the seeds of his power on any part of his your heart he can get to because not all bad you got some fertile ground in there somewhere but you got some thorns and you got some rocks you got some stuff so all of it's not coming up but he loves you so much that your angry ground don't scare them and your fearful ground don't scare them and your sadness doesn't scare he's just gonna keep throwing out seeds and we need to keep working on that fertility it's a seed trying to get to the soil that it loves it's a love story he was a seed that fell in the ground and died to redeem us and in the Heavenly gates in the city the garden the city of the of Revelation he's a tree of life which means the seed finally took root and now here it is the whole gospel is a love story about a seed and some soil and if I just as a vicious Susie Owens used to say if I digress I just want to point out that Brilliance of God in that because I don't need to understand the Greek context and the original Aramaic it's just a seed and some soil I understand that I don't need to understand that at that time this governor was in place in this Eastern religion and and the context and break it and that's important but y'all be done broke stuff down till ain't nothing left it's like give me a break yes we want to know that but the author of This Book Is God these people were divinely inspired but they're not God if they could only write what they could comprehend where would the Divine be in the inspiration please stop telling me that nothing in my Bible can be applied beyond what the original writer could have comprehended then that's not divine that's a dead Bible I got a living Bible and the truth just keeps getting deeper and deeper and deeper even when a tree reaches its full height the trunk continues to get wider it never stops growing so I'm not adding no height to the word I'm just saying for every single year that passes every generation needs new insight every generation needs application to their life to treat us there's no culture that doesn't understand a seed and soil Jesus is a seed the soil is your heart your mind Springs from that seed nurtured by your heart it produces fruit also nurtured by your heart your heart is the soil of your life if you keep trying to extract your emotional life from your spiritual life your spiritual life will die we were meant we were created our emotions did not show up after the fall we were created not only to have thought we were made from soil our very bodies carry emotional realities and jesus carried them when he put on his body and he never sinned so that means none of those emotions could be sins because Jesus felt everything I feel but he never sinned so no emotion is a sin that's free we gotta learn because they didn't like the feeling of being close to his power and they ran back and we've been taught that emotion is getting me off track that I'm not hearing God's voice properly that'll say but we're meant to have a heart relationship with him so the first thing that Jesus had to do to fulfill the law was start talking to people directly Matthew Chapter 5 the sermon on the mouth the Beatitudes that's where he brought a new law and he spoke it it's going to be three points of fulfillment that's the first one he spoke it out loud let's look at the Beatitudes because there's something else important about that because by speaking it brought the emotional connection back into the conversation but these laws I'm sorry these Beatitudes which is our our new law they're very emotional blessed is the poor in spirit are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven anybody got mixed emotions about poor nobody I think there was a rich young ruler who came to Jesus and said hey I want to follow you and he said well God said you know don't call me Jesus said don't call me good you know the Commandments and he said yes I followed them all my life he said well sell everything you have and come with me and he said oh I because that was emotional yeah until God's hand is gripped around your heart we ain't doing nothing yet I tell if we ain't nothing yet okay I'm sorry blessed are they that mourn that means you actually do mourn you actually allow yourself to feel your grief you don't rebuke it you don't try to act like it's the devil you don't act like it didn't do nothing to you you actually mourn this is emotional stuff it's vulnerable stuff blessed are the meek meek yep I wasn't born with those Parts meek my personality type does not include that word when you read the description doesn't include me so meekness for me is something that I have to evolve into and that's an emotional place it's an emo it's a heart stance it's not a mindset it's a vulnerability it's a willingness to sometimes get hurt and not retaliate I have a fast plan for this week for myself on this one and it was just me but somehow it says We'll Inherit the Earth blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled blessed are the merciful oh my goodness any any merciful people here any not naturally merciful people here yeah go ahead say I love a truth teller in order to move from mercilessness to merciful you have to have some empathy for somebody you got to be willing to look at their pain and embrace it as real and you can't really do that without looking at your own stuff and that's going on here not here see when they were following the first set of laws you could do that with your mind without your heart we try not to get emotion involved but trust me I'd rather be mindless than heartless yeah because mindless can be corrected mindless can be caught mindless because that was a Mindless mistake I'm so sorry that's why they say don't count it to my head count it to my don't count it to my heart because they know the heart is more powerful I would rather you be mindless than heartless but if I'm just willing to only follow these laws with my mind to make sure that I do the right behaviors Jesus is saying that's not gonna fly anymore in order for the law to be fulfilled in your heart you're going to have to get into your heart blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God not the clear in mind there is not one beatitude about the Mind anybody ever notice that blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God to make peace is more than some contract to stop fighting it's a heart my heart and your heart peace not I'll just mind my business you stay over there I stay over here that's not peacemaking that's negotiating but when you say God show me how to make peace with somebody that I have formally not liked but I'm letting you change my heart because you somehow are in love with everybody so how can I dislike anybody and consider myself to be finished maturing as a Christian you know taught me that lesson congregants glory to God when my husband became a pastor 18 years as a senior pastor I didn't naturally get along with every member but you you feel too good about your nature you feel too good about your personality like it's something you have a right to when it's just a broken piece of his image that was left after the fall it's not and so I began to notice hey some of the people I'm counseling with and talking with in my congregation they're getting better and some of the people are struggling even after we spend time together and I started noticing that my personality and that person's personality and that person's personality they didn't match up quite as good and so somehow the connection wasn't being made so it was harder for me to help them and I said well that's an abomination because if there's something in me that's rubbing up against something someone God sent me to serve then the thing in me he's got to go we can't just be like oh well that's just a personality difference the thing has to go [Applause] not because my personality is a sin it's because it is sinfulness it's Fallen nature it includes some strengths but it also includes weaknesses what it does not include is the image of the sun to which I'm called to be conformed so I'm gonna have to give up some favorite things I had to recognize that there was nothing more special about my personality and their personality and that and somebody would think mine was terrible so I just need to sacrifice that because I want to be like Jesus I want to be able to make sure that anybody God sends it here to minister to I can embrace them and love them he's been crazy about them so I want to be crazy about them so I need to have Jesus's heart instead of mine but the law can't do that for me y'all still with me I know it's it's okay blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake oh it does not feel like a blessing I did a podcast a couple weeks ago about forgiveness if you have any forgiveness challenge people here please check out the in the light podcast episode called the f word it's a real story about a girl who had to learn to let her heart be broken to forgive we talk a lot about enduring persecution but very little about forgiving it yeah oh persecution's gonna come trials don't come tribulation's gonna come but God delivers them out of it all yeah but guess what you got to forgive it and when you're going through these things and you're not going through persecution with this attitude that I'm going to forgive you're actually not getting through it because my body that's why you're hopeless and that's why your faith is weak I'm gonna tell you why because my Bible says there'll be tribulations and tribulations are supposed to work patience and patience gives me an experience and experience Works hope but you didn't go through with patience you went through math so you didn't really have the experience and that's why you didn't glean any hope so now you can't find anything to have faith built on because you're hopeless see if I get on a roller coaster and the roller coaster scares me and I crunch up like this and scream the whole way with my eyes closed I didn't really ride it I didn't really have the experience I just held on and screamed until I was in less pain I just held on and screamed until God moved the thing I did in life I just held on and screamed until the child finally got locked up I just held on and screamed till the divorce just happened I didn't fight for nothing I didn't pay attention I wasn't eyes open Focus seeing what God is doing and so I don't experience nothing because I didn't go through no patience so I had no hope some of these rides you're gonna have to ride with your eyes yes your stomach is flipping knots yes it feels like it just threw a crook in your neck because it did the 18th loop the loop today but if you don't learn a ride with your eyes open learn to lean into those curves even if you don't like it lean your head out the car and throw up and come on back when you decide that's not milk that's not milk this is meat when you decide I am going to go through this tribulation with patience so that I can have a bona fide experience then I get the hope that makes not ashamed and faith is the substance of that hope is about the possibility hope is me recognizing that God did something with a really necessary situation in the past and now that makes me suggest that he could do something with another messy situation that's in my present because there's possibilities for my future hope is gleaned from the past and it's not necessarily gleaned from the exact thing you're going through now it's transferable because it comes from what God did so if he fixed this over here I imagine he might be able to fix this over here if he fixed my car for me he can fix my washing machine for me if he took care of my child he can take care of my mama it's hope it's transferable because it didn't come from you it came from God when you decided to trust him on the way through that thing but that would mean persecution with a certain heart state you can go through the persecution and never break a law but that won't fulfill the law in your heart this law of fulfillment is an emotional experience and we've been taught our emotions don't have nothing to do with our spirit but that is wrong it's a part of Who We Are and we're always growing and healing and the best thing you can do is express it let it flow through you and keep going because when you hold it in that's when the trouble starts so yeah I'm in pain today or yeah I'm happy today but today I'm in pain or I'm in pain about this and not about this you know you're allowed to have more than one emotion there was more than one kind of soil in that field so you might be hurting over here and happy over here and not coming along over here but you have to pay attention to your heart all right let me pick it up let me pick it up blessed are you when men revile you and persecute yourself say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake oh that's emotional I'm not supposed to say nothing they posted well I'm not supposed to say nothing I have the right to defend myself and I mean it oh is this not the fastest he's chosen we need that fast that he chose all right rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you ye are the salt of the earth I don't mean you're never gonna be mad don't think you're never going to be sad but we can't hold it and we can't avoid it you're the salt of the earth but if the salt have lost his savior where would shall it be salted it's good for nothing but to be cast out skip down to verse 17 Matthew 5 17 Jesus says think not that I'm come to destroy the law or the prophets I am not come to destroy but to fulfill verse 20. for I say unto you that accept your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven it's going to be a heart connection needed the Pharisees and they didn't have the right heart there was a woman who was loosed she had been bent over for 18 years and Jesus healed her she didn't even ask to be healed he just walked up on her and said be healed by the way Jesus is about to walk up on somebody yeah you haven't even asked about it no more it's been so long you don't even ask about it you're like this is just a part of my life his grace is sufficient you're just going on with your life I want you to know God sent me to tell you he's about to walk right up on you he's good for answering a prayer you never prayed he sees you he's moved by compassion he just walked up on her and fried her on the Sabbath and the Pharisees got they got emotional about the wrong thing they didn't get emotional to see her well they got emotional about him breaking a rule what this is the heart that Jesus is trying to fix in order to fulfill the law your heart has to match God's heart it's got to match it so here's the new law but I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the Judgment what what that road rage situation is about to put me into judgment what you know why this is important because Christians too often have gained a level of acceptance for the little things that they do raggedy the little things that road rage incident every day this week what you mad with this person you don't know them they probably a brother in Christ that's certainly a fellow human you don't know what's going on in their life did they get cut off or they're just saying did they just get a phone call for emergency you just assume it you mad and you work on these little attitudinal things or your bosses mean to you your boss is raggedy so you feel Justified and being like man my boss make me sick you feel Justified and when it's time to say hell God forgive me for some things you name all the big stuff but you don't name it this so little foxes is just running all over the place I mean they just running up and down your walls under your bed in the closet because you're not you feel okay about it okay okay so you can't do that he said leave your gift at the altar and go and reconcile with your brother first then offer thy gift and then he said to do the same thing with an enemy go go address your adversary but that's my enemy you want me to go to my enemy I remember the first time I walked up on somebody to let them know what I was thinking after feeling like I had done all the same things and now it's time to tell you the truth and the Holy Spirit has caught me right as open my mouth and said pray for them and I was like and that'll really get you because if you find yourself ever in a moment where if God said pray right now you you really couldn't or wouldn't want to you in trouble you don't see that as a problem but that's a problem and I had to pull myself together right quick and then when I said amen God said ask her to forgive you I was like but I did it man I had heart Whiplash because it had to happen so fast not out of my head and out of my mouth I had to change my heart I tell you the first time that I had to change my heart that fast it was a Wednesday night Bible study I was teaching at the church when my husband was pastoring and I had just gotten a message from somebody and somebody had pulled a high level Judas Behavior I mean like somebody clothes had really done something funky and I was Furious and I had to teach Bible study in 20 minutes I was in there it was you want to talk about wrestling because here's what I know I can't walk out there like this I can't walk out there like this oh my God why didn't they tell me this after Bible study I could have been mad all night long but I can't walk out there like this I had to come out there with tears streaming down my face because it was time to start which means I had to hurry up and go from being angry to actually just being hurt and sad because that's what's really underneath the anger and start letting that out so I could speak the word of God with Integrity so I had to come out with tears streaming down my face and everybody first lady are you okay I said I had to forgive somebody really quickly but this is how the law is fulfilled it's a heart State it's a heart State it's an emotional thing all right let me keep going so we know how the rest of this one goes if you look at a woman or a man to lust after them you already committed adultery in your heart he ain't great you could follow the rules but if your heart he really came after that so verse 38 you have heard it said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but I say unto you that you resist not evil but whosoever shall smite thee on the right treat turn them the other also and if any man will sue thee at law take away thy coat let him have thy cloak also and whosoever shall compel me to go a mile go with two give him the ass be something that they would borrow let them borrow it you have heard that has been said Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thy enemy but I say unto you love your enemies bless them that curse you do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you that you may be the children of Father which is in heaven for he may get the sun to rise on the evil and on the good and send us Reign on the just and the unjust we don't believe in that we so saved in this country we don't even want somebody to have health insurance because we don't agree with their lifestyle we rather them die on the side of the road that's how we show up [Applause] he reigned on you on a just day he rained on you when you was on a raggedy day he didn't just leave you out there and that's how I was supposed to show up my health insurance got switched earlier this year and there was like a two-day Gap then I went there and I forgot about it went to pick up a prescription without health insurance it was 538 I'm used to paying forty dollars I almost fainted but I would say hey well sorry for you people this is a Christian Nation okay let me know I'm talking that's not how the law is fulfilled in our hearts this is a challenge and so Jesus came to fulfill the law first by talking to us directly and getting into our emotional space has he achieved that the second thing that he did he made sure that somebody wrote it down Matthew wrote it down right here Matthew chapter five just like Moses wrote it down Matthew wrote it down some of us in Luke as well so whoever wrote Luke if it was Lucas somebody saying it was Luke they wrote it down too the next way that he fulfilled the law was by saving us from the punishment he died he made it possible he came to make it possible for us to be rescued from the punishment that we deserve and a lot of times we forget that the Bible says we were all guilty and we deserve death we don't really believe it we say that Jesus died for us because we deserve that death but you don't believe that about yourself you're believing about somebody else but you don't believe it about yourself because it feels big but it's in the book so and that make us all brothers and sisters because if we were all guilty if we were all worthy of death and Jesus came to take that he came to protect us from judgment and he gave an example of that there was a woman accused of adultery that was brought and tossed on the ground in front of Jesus they said this woman was caught in the very Act John chapter 8 caught in the very Act Moses's law says we can Stone her death penalty what do you say and Jesus said he who is without sin cast The First song he was teaching us how to love he was teaching about how to love since I already got myself in political trouble I don't believe in a death penalty either I don't think we should have it because Jesus disrupted an execution I'm not saying that the people are guilty and some of them are not guilty which is part of the problem see we don't have the capacity to make decisions like that that's why he said he was our sin cast the first stone our minds are not good enough we are too Fallen to take on that kind of job to decide something there are they are constantly since DNA came they are constantly finding people who are not guilty and getting them off death row but us in our mind and our system we're willing to take a life because we think we figured it out that's our problem knowledge of Good and Evil we want to have it we're still committing the same sin we want to have knowledge of Good and Evil we want to be able to say what's right we're doing it over and over instead of life well that person did something terrible well apparently according to the Bible so did you you will see enough to go to death but Jesus said let him who's without sin cast the first stone he was teaching us how to love oh my goodness I'm almost done but I got to tell you this I was watching this show you guys know I'm a trauma therapist so I watch traumatic things and I was watching this TV show about juveniles who have been convicted and put on death row while they were juveniles for something terrible and some of them had to horrible thing it's hard to even listen to and there was one young man who was like 15 years old and and he had killed his stepmother his siblings his steps it was horrific only his fathers had survived because he wasn't home and they were interviewing the man and he was like he was trying to see if his son could get a lesser sentence because the Supreme Court decided that his is unconstitutional to to sentence a juvenile to death because there's still too much opportunity they may be able to change and so now they have to do a re-sentencing and so he's lobbying for his son not to have the death penalty and and he said um I understand that everybody hates my son I get it he's like I'm gonna Lobby for him and they were like why he said I just feel like everybody has to know what their role is in the situation and the reporter said what's your role he said I'm his father he's my father he's seen it he knows but he's my father and I said God can we love that good killed that man's wife his other children I'm his father I'll never stop lobbying for him that's what Jesus was showing he's showing that kind of Mercy that kind of love I hope I never have to try it I ain't saying I could do I'm just saying this is the standard that we're seeing and he's a human being so Jesus showed us the promise the Fulfillment of the law means that we could be kept from judgment but there was one more thing that had to be done to fulfill the law the way that it was given to Moses God had taken his finger and written on stones the Finger of God and in order to fulfill the law Jesus got down in the soil of our hearts and he started writing in the dirt I've heard preachers all my life come up with ideas about what Jesus was writing was he writing their sin was he telling on them I believe he was writing a new commandment I give to you that you would love one another like I've loved you because until the Finger of God writes it it is not a law of God I believe he wrote it with the Finger of God but instead of in a stone tablet he wrote it on the fleshy tablets of our hearts in the soil of my heart he wants to write not love your neighbor as yourself that was in Leviticus we already got that one he went one bigger love one another as I have loved you because you don't love yourself well enough to love your neighbor well so you can't beat a bar no more love one another as I have loved you it could not be the new command until it was written down but here's the thing have you let him write that on you has his finger dragged across the surface of your heart in a moment when you thought he's my father love one another as I have loved you because until you let him etch that law fulfillment he came itch and there are good promises that if you ask for wisdom he'll give it to you he promised that he who has begun a good work and you will complete unto the day of the Lord he promised he'll never leave you or forsake you he promised every word he spoke to you personally in your prayer closet he promised but the law has to be fulfilled before the promise is fulfilled has he written in the soil of your heart oh we've accused Jesus of writing gossip down there holy I'm right what they didn't know I don't believe it this is I believe the Finger of God only wrote one other time and it was a commandment a new commandment I give to you love one another as I have loved you he spoke it but he had to write it somewhere he's not interested in writing on stone tablets anymore he's not interested in the Ten Commandment sign you have hanging on your wall that doesn't fulfill the law if you don't allow him to be a seed to fall into the soil of your heart if you don't allow his finger to etch his love into your heart and I don't see it and I don't experience it and nobody knows it's there because they don't yes love is an action but it starts as an emotion it starts as an emotion love is a nutrient in the soil I'll tell you something interesting about soil and it doesn't have enough nutrition it's one of the reasons that weeds grow like those thorns and the thorny ground those are weeds do you know what the number one fertilizer is natural fertilizer for soil blood meal blood changes the nutrients in Hearts you can bite in fertilizer it's called blood meal and bone meal and you bite its ground up and when you put in the soil it changes the nutrients the blood the Bloods but that fertilizer is not good for young plants young plants can't handle it young plants don't do well with it if you have really young plants don't use that you can actually use milk to fertilize a young plant but there shouldn't be any super I don't see I don't see what looks like I see a lot of old plants in here I see a lot of grown plants in here but the soil how is it remember the blood it'll start changing it get them in there so he can take roots and drag his finger Cross Your Life so that every promise that he ever made to you you can stand with a clean heart Clean Hands and say the promises shall be fulfilled in me amen amen there's a promise being fulfilled there's a promise being fulfilled but we got to fulfill the law as a part of fulfilling the promise will you live holy will you love will you love will you love will you love will you stop trying to extract your emotions from the situation and let your heart just spill open for God some of you are like I need an altar call there's repentance come on if you just want to say God I haven't repented for these little things I want to just do that come to the altar if you don't know Jesus he is a seed chasing the soil of your heart like crazy he just wants to be there if you don't know Jesus we want to pray with you to know Jesus you can join us if you're watching online you can join us but there's another group I want to pray for today sometimes this emotion thing is real hard we go through things some of us have been through a lot of trauma so we've been in emotional pain for a long time so it's not as easy to just make a switch in a certain place that anger from that thing that anxiety from that thing that happened that trauma that PTSD that car accident or the sexual abuse the divorce of your parents or your own marriage sometimes things happen that it just changes us and it seems like it's hard to move those things God wants to see you well he'll never ask you to do something that you're not capable of doing when he came by the pool of Bethesda where people were waiting to be healed and the water was troubled once a day and there was a man laying there who had been there for many years because he was lame and he couldn't get to the water and Jesus said take up thy bed and walk and he does but he goes and when he tells his testimony he tells it this way this man made me whole then he told me to take up my bed and walk Jesus is not merciles God is Not unaware of your broken places he's seen you try to get up and walk and can't he's seen you try to carry that bed and do the thing and can't it could be showing up in a lot of ways it could be an addiction I always say addictions are just infections in a wound something in your heart is wounded the addiction starts to make you feel better and it becomes an infection in your wound and then you get off that addiction but because the wound doesn't get healed it gets infected with a different addiction and you're beating yourself down like oh my gosh I'm just a sinner and God's just like I want to make you whole I'm not he knows our hearts that's the good part some of us are strong enough to just straighten some stuff up and we need to and he doesn't hold us accountable for that but then some that we have broken places too and it's not uncommon for our Brokenness to be producing emotions and behaviors that are torments he's not asking you to roll up your bed and walk without making you whole he's not merciless this is a heart fulfillment not a mind thing and I think over the decades this is the thing that we have been missing at church Holiness is right it's still right it's always going to be right but we've looked at people who fall short and just assume they just don't want to do right not recognizing that something's broken and because nobody ever acknowledged your Brokenness then you hated yourself and you were ashamed of yourself because you couldn't just do what they did he'll make you whole before he asks you to carry any stuff I know I've been there asking God why don't you just kill me I can't get this things out of my life just kill me Holy Spirit said I don't want to kill you I want to heal you that was the moment I knew he was my father at your broken we're going to pray today he'll speak to you he'll touch you get you to the right therapist get you to the right support group you might be dealing with an undiagnosed mental illness it might need to get you to the right medication you're beating yourself up over something broken he sees it's broken he's not mad at you but you're so busy hating yourself you can't hate yourself better you can't shame yourself better it's never worked anybody a witness it just gets worse the more you hate yourself the worse it gets we can't do we can't do that so I want to pray for you that God would allow the law to be fulfilled in your heart and the promises of God and for some of you that's through a healing father God I thank you I thank you for working in our hearts thank you for sending Jesus to speak a word so we could hear his voice and yours and reconnect from the heart thank you for showing us that what's going on inside of us matter so much to you you don't need an act you just want our hearts thank you for letting us know that today that we're loved that we're loved that we're loved father I lift up every Broken Heart that's nurturing broken thoughts and sometimes stunting even spiritual growth and I ask you to show them your power your word says you can make streams run in a desert and a tree grow on a rock so I ask you to spring up within them now while you are also healing them in the name of Jesus I thank you for recovering from trauma alcoholism drug addiction abuse of every kind there's no name greater than the name of Jesus I thank you God you're healing some people instantly right now those in the room and those watching online raise your hands if you're watching online someone's being healed instantly right now for others the healing journey is beginning today but God wants to walk it out with you so you can watch him do the work because as you watch him help you heal you're going to come to know him so much better and see how much he loves you thank you for it receive his love he loves us if any of the ministers want to come and pray with anyone please do of our house ministers but we're just going to give people a minute in the presence of God [Music] if you came for healing and you're standing next to someone looks like they came for healing grab their hand y'all stand In God's Presence together we don't have to do this by ourselves [Music] it's been so lonely because we want to keep it a secret but God created us to heal in relationship too and sometimes just grabbing a hand and feeling acknowledged in his presence can start that process he loves you so much God we thank you as we close this prayer [Music] we just acknowledge you thank you for showing us in your word what our next thing is foreign that you're standing between us and judgment because your love just wants us well help us to walk in the path that you laid out for that healing fine tune our ears to your voice convict us when we need it so that we can see how much better it is when we do it your way in Jesus name amen [Music] [Music]
