past dual citizenship past triple citizenship passed multiple citizenships is the world record holder for how many citizenships you can have today I'm going to tell you what this person did to get eight different citizenships and how you can emulate that strategy and why you should think about this [Music] now I'm not telling you that you should get eight different passports I am a sort of passport collector as such and at a certain point it becomes too much my current strategy now that I'm well Diversified I have plenty of different options is if I were to get more citizenships it would have to have some kind of personal benefit to my lifestyle I.E I could do something for the country or I want to live in that country or I want to live in a country that that citizenship gives me access to I.E a European country I can live in other European countries something like that so getting a passport seems a little weird but I'm going to walk you through the world record holder as far as I know and tell you how you can do the same and what you can learn from this if it's your first time here I'm Andrew Henderson founder of nomad capitalist we help seven and eight figure entrepreneurs and investors legally reduce your taxes protect your assets build your freedom and increase your opportunities internationally so eight passports uh the story is Canada UK Ireland so all Western countries there Belize Grenada Dominica Saint Kitts and Cape Verde let's break that down from the end so Cape Verde African country not that strong of a passport uh they had some sort of citizenship by investment program way back in the day today you can theoretically be granted citizenship through an exceptional procedure if you were to make investments in the country uh rrd Team have worked in this for some time it's not really a great passport to where people really don't want to go and like go through the investment process but it theoretically is possible to still get that one but that one is more of limits Belize did have a citizenship by investment program back in the 90s it cost forty thousand dollars and it's proof Peru also had a short-lived program that was covered in the New York Times the 90s there were a number of programs that after 9 11 got some scrutiny the U.S had some some push there they got closed down and so if you have an opportunity to get a certain citizenship that you're interested in it's not a bad idea so Belize offers access to the Caribbean Community it offers Visa free travel to countries like the UK the passport still isn't as strong as you would find with the other Caribbean citizenship by investment countries that exist today but if you want an English-speaking country that's on the mainland I know some people complain about oh I don't want to be a citizen of an island country well Belize is right there next to Mexico that opportunity was is there I'm sure many people said ah forty thousand dollars hahaha now that opportunity's gone so those are two that are that are likely gone you can live in Belize and try and be naturalized uh but those are going to be tough Grenada Dominica Saint Kitts and Nevis are uh passport programs I believe this gentleman got Grenada the first time they had citizenship by investment then they shut it down then they brought it back in the 2010s but those are three countries you can get citizenship by investment in and then I believe uh the story was that he had uh like a parent from one of the countries the Western countries he was born another one in in like another and it was naturalized in a third one so obviously Canada the UK Ireland you can move to those countries um you can be naturalized you're going to pay taxes to do that in many cases UK and Ireland might give you tax incentives for for a good number of years while you're getting citizenship but after you get citizenship it's probably harder if you happen to have a parent from the UK If you happen to have a grandparent from Ireland you can get citizenship there parent from Canada could also work being born physically and Canada Works same way as being born in the U.S grants you citizenship there so where you give birth to your children matters and we have more and more people asking us just had dinner with some folks the other night hey my wife's pregnant where should we give birth right we like to get our child a citizenship and maybe ourselves in the process so going through your family tree is the first way to look for these passports because I believe as I said Ireland I think was the one where he got to the family tree look at your parents as well we've had parents who were born in Canada and then the kids were born in the U.S the parents Canadian and you can pass that Canadian citizenship down gently same with Mexico same with many other countries so look at parents grandparents great grandparents and it goes back even further in some cases we've had some people they can get two or three different passports just by checking that family tree beyond that if you want to get more citizenships what I like about this profile is countries like Dominica are very benign right is Dominica going to bother you no matter where you live in the world probably not as a citizen of Dominica Saint Kitts or Grenada you can live in any of the six Eastern Caribbean countries so you've got optionality including two countries which are tax-free Saint Kitts and Nevis being no personal or corporate income tax and so if you want that optionality and you're worried about hey I'm going to build a business I've got an Investment Portfolio that's not a bad thing to have because sure if you're British and Irish those countries have favorable tax regimes it's gonna be harder for someone especially if your family's from there to qualify for those regimes as a Citizen Canada of course is crazy high tax and some of the politicians there want to come after you for being a Canadian so no matter where you live you'd pay them tax and so if you have Canada as one of eight passports the minute Canada acts up you're just like all right goodbye Canada especially because you already have the other Western passports so much as in my case I have you know a weird passport uh in the comoros which is probably just kind of a fun extra kind of like Cape Verde in his case do you need three different Caribbean citizenships probably not I think it's just a case of we've had this occasionally hey let me just collect them we had one guy wanted to collect all five in the Caribbean and so if you want to do that we saw during Cove that was beneficial in the in the case of they all had Visa free travel I think in one case to South Korea only one was actually on the on the nice list to get into South Korea so if you needed to go to South Korea during the pandemic and you had all five one would have gotten you in seems like a little bit of a stretch to have five different Caribbean citizenships but Hey listen maybe you'd find an opportunity to be of service run for political office be you you know do something for the country if you're a citizen but the bottom line here is having a passport portfolio that you get different passports through different ways is beneficial to ensure your freedom it's an insurance policy that no one country can screw you up with let's say in the west they're talking about New Wealth taxes they're never done taxing you with New Wealth taxes Spain just added a second wealth tax other European countries are talking about it the U.S wants to do it and Elizabeth Warren says well our system's better because we can tax our citizens no matter where they are in the world we've heard rumors and murmurs of this from a few other Western countries they'd like to do the same and so you know if you're from a Western Country great keep that passport if you're from the US you've got to evaluate whether it's worth keeping that since they will tax you no matter where you live but if you can get citizenship by descent fantastic I'm all for that emotional connection I think that's great if you want to go and live in another country great if you want to get a golden Visa in a country like Portugal and spend a nominal amount of time there great get a paper residence in Eastern Europe or Central America wait three to five years maybe you learn a language maybe you don't get citizenship that way go through the investment process in the Caribbean give them a hundred thousand hundred and thirty thousand dollars maybe you go to a country like a cap Verde there are others all the way up to Austria you invest money into creating jobs into property into being a world-class athlete world-class scientist you know rebuilding the opera house they may give you citizenship so my perspective that I learned from the man with eight citizenships is you want to have different kinds of countries nothing wrong with having a Western Country and if you don't have any dissent especially if you're a US citizen and you think you may not want to keep that in the long run look at malta's citizenship program now with the dollar and the Euro at par or better you can spend 750 000 or less and you can get that citizenship in about 15 to 18 months that's going to open up a whole lot of doors you can live in about 30 different countries in Europe you have one of the most powerful passports in the world to go anywhere that you want that's not a bad thing to have I would say that's better than the us or Canada or Australia because you've got all those different countries you can live in that offer tax incentives that offer different levels of Freedom that will respond differently to coming world events they have different geographies different cultures that's not a bad thing to have access to the Caribbean is interesting because again they're going to leave you alone their deal is we'd like your money we're going to build roads we're going to build schools we're going to build low-income housing you do what you want obviously they have very clear background checks I've been through them myself but as long as you're a clean person they're not going to chase you around the world they're not going to impose their will on you as you see more countries saying follow our regulations no matter where you are and so that's a nice thing to have you you have different countries I would imagine if this was a guy today he might look at turkey's citizenship program or one of the ones in Eastern Europe like Montenegro which is wrapping up because you're on the land you're outside of the EU you've got a bit more freedom that kind of country might be interesting you might look at some kind of country in South America to obtain studies of Japan you see Suriname talking about potentially rolling out citizenship by investment Albania is also doing that that could be an Eastern European country so that could be interesting Asian countries are going to be very difficult African countries generally very difficult um although you do see occasional murmurs about some possible citizenship program from Africa but the point is diversifying the portfolio he's done that he can live in you know well over three dozen different countries you think when something bad happens that you can't find one of those three countries whether it's Finance Freedom or lifestyle you will be able to have that when you have access to three dozen countries if one of these countries decides to go Rogue he could just be done with them or you can make the decision hey it's worth paying the price to be Canadian but if you were also British and Irish and you had access to travel to pretty much anywhere in the world would you let one country push you around your mindset changes when you have this number of passports so I'm not saying have eight I think you could probably do without Cape Verde although it'll be interesting to see what happens with the African Union and as investments in Africa become very intriguing the next decades you know that could be something interesting especially if you're younger and you want to make investments and you want to be more active on the ground you could probably get rid of Cape Verde and two of the Caribbean ones like Dominica and Grenada for example um you know bullies is interesting so you could have five of these and you could accomplished the same thing but what I've been saying is dual citizenship's not enough anymore you want to have three and possible you might even want to have four but they want to be different and so if you're American and your mom was born in Canada and your grandfather was Italian that's I would I wouldn't I wouldn't turn down those passports but you're going to be a triple citizen who's largely focused on the very western part of the world with bankrupt countries that are trying to find more ways to extract money from their citizens I would still want to add something on top of that so that you're in control and so that's what we can learn with a man with eight citizenships you don't have to go overboard but you want to figure it out this is what we help people do all the time how do I create a passport portfolio where each thing adds value each thing plans for a different geopolitical event a different financial event as countries become more desperate that's what the benefit of this is
