[Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] [Music] if you are in this room and online and you woke up [Music] i just wanted to let you know somebody didn't so i know it's hard cause i i've had good days i've had bad days i i am i'm qualified to know what it feels like to operate through pain but can you encourage your neighbor and just say you can do it it's okay because god will wipe every tear from your eyes and i want you to know it's okay it's okay to show your emotions it's like if if you don't get them out they'll destroy you from inside so don't don't sit up here and hold your head back and try to hold them in and like i'm i'm not going to cry it's okay because you got to do it somewhere along the line and if if you don't just break out you're going to break down do you hear me sir do you hear me and it's okay cause you're a man and i'm a man that's all right because at the end of the day you're still gonna be who you are [Music] you're still going to be who you are i remember my daughter she told me she said daddy i've never seen you cry out of somebody that's been around you for nine years almost 10 years never seen you cry it means that somewhere along the line you bottling it up thinking you're protecting them from something and the only thing you're doing is teaching them to bottle it up only to come back and chastise them for bottling it up be free today just be free [Applause] don't even judge yourself just be free and don't worry about what nobody else got to say about it just be free [Applause] [Music] i was listening to van jones here he said to us the other day he said after jeff bezos gave him 100 million dollars he said the biggest lesson i learned in this season in my life is i have fired myself from being concerned about the opinions of other people do me a favor before i preach just look at your name and say i love you but i don't care what you think you ain't got like my clothes i picked them you ain't gotta like my hair it's mine you ain't got to like my nose god gave it to me you think i'm too thick go find somebody skinny but it's somebody that wanted my size you think i'm too skinny that's fine somebody'll love me just the way i am you don't like short hair go get you a long hair girl but i'ma rock this bob holla holla back one of them fellas tell me you don't like this belly that's all right they call me big sexy where i come from i got it like i got it and god made me the way i am dark skinned light skinned curly hair kinky hair that's all right cause i'm still perfect in this site if you believe it holla at me [Music] [Applause] i want you to shout like you all left shout like you all left [Applause] come on shout like shout for yourself stop looking for a cheerleader and throw your own party shout for you glory to god i want to read something for you today that i think will help you it's in first samuel chapter 16. and i'm only going to read a few verses because i'm not going to preach long but i want to get this in your spirit because i'm about to give you another arrow to put in your quiver so the next time the devil bothers you i want you to i want you to shoot this at him and and he can't resist this one this is one that will kill him every time i want you to look at verse 7 in first samuel 16. and the bible says but the lord said unto samuel look not on his countenance this is the first thing i want to let you know god don't care how you look do you know how much time we spend on how how we look mark do you know we spend how many hours we spend in the mirror worried about how we look only for god to ignore it god says i don't care about you [Music] i don't look on the countenance i don't look at your height i don't care if you go to the gym i don't care if you got a keg or six-pack [Music] i will refuse your pretty self [Music] lord help me [Applause] i will refuse your handsome self [Music] for i seek not on the outward appearance go to the next verse but i look at the heart how many all hear me already go to verse 10 go to jesse's house he's got seven sons there samuel said all right he went to jesse's house and he got there and jesse kept bringing sons before him and jesse looked at every one of them and said god has not chosen these see here it is sometimes you'll be looking at people that are on the stage but it don't mean they're chosen [Applause] jesse had brought all of his sons to the stage they were in front and they were still not chosen you can't be in the balcony and still be god's choice if you're watching online you can be in a small town with population 3000 and god will make you a world shifter you don't have to be from a big city to make a big change and samuel said unto jesse verse 11 are all your children here i've been to eight gender reveals and i only seen seven sons where where's that that little one you remember that little one where is he at he said oh he he insignificant he out there in the field uh working on on the sheet sam said go get him do you know that when god wants you he'll find you wherever you are [Applause] look at me i'm from gary indiana gary have you ain't been there that's why you're looking at me i'm from get i google gary when you get home i want you to do me a favor google gary hotel won't come up because we don't have one no no are you here we don't we don't we didn't have hotels no five-star restaurants the best restaurant we had in our neighborhood was white castle y'all don't know nothing about white castle because you're the southern people y'all got other stuff but white castle yeah it's uh it's laxative in the burger form and samuel took oil and poured it on david's head in the midst of the people who thought they were the decision i think i'm done reading you won't understand what i'm talking about right now i'm going to explain it but i want to talk about something that gripped me for the first 28 years of my life it had me for 28 years i've fought it for seven years and i've only been free from it in the last three years okay for the first for the first majority of my life this thing had a grip on me so much so that it controlled every decision i made i've only recently in my late 20s early to mid 30s learned to fight it back and i've only recently in the last few years been able to confront it and control it at times and the reason why you in this room with me is because the same thing i struggled with growing up you're struggling with now and i'm getting ready to try my best to help you through it i want to use this for a subject today the orphan spirit the orphan spirit you may be seated in the presence of the lord now i know automatically that sends a shock wave through your system because in order to be an orphan theoretically your parents have to be dead because an orphan is the child of deceased parents subsequently when you don't have your parents in your life you struggle with identity i will go even further to say this especially for young men not to exclude women because i found out through my own sister that this is also true that when you don't know your father you don't know you if you if you don't know your father he's got brothers and sisters and ways of life that they grew up in and and most of us grew up around our mother so we know all of how crazy our people are but sometimes your mother will look at you and say where did you come from and she's only thinking about her i wish our response would be my daddy i came from something i can't explain i came from something that i didn't get a chance to witness because in his absence i had no presence and yet because we share dna i am crippled by what i cannot confront because i am him and he is me and you are him and she is him most of you in this room are dealing with demons and you cannot identify them and you may be saying right now my daddy was there just because he was there doesn't mean he had didn't have demons and most of our problem with our parents is that we did not dis we did not witness their dysfunction by the time you were old enough to realize who they were they already had coping mechanisms for what damaged them before they gave birth to you i'mma help you today the first orphan we see in the scripture is moses now i understand that his parents did not die but louis they were dead to him because all he knew is he was in pharaoh's house being raised by the daughter of pharaoh who was not his mother being raised as a king but was born as a slave what do you do when you were born as a slave and you have the slave dna and the slave mentality and the slave way of thought but god has reservations for you in the penthouse it is why so many of us get in environments and don't know how to act because we were raised from one thing but god birthed us for another i want you to know that it is possible for you to act differently than when you came from that just because you grew up in the ghetto don't mean you got to be ghetto [Music] just cause you grew up in the hood don't mean you got to be hood all the time now save a little bit my ratio is 80 percent suave 20 hood the 20 20 is for the people who don't respond to jesus that's a good balance jesus would heal the lame man and he would speak to the deaf person but if you did something he'd turn over the table hood just yeah flip it over just tell everybody in your section don't lose your flip it over ability just tell the club up sometime so the idea of being an orphan is crucial so much so that james i believe it was james 1 uh around verse 26 27 where the bible says that the way we know that our religion is authentic is by the way we see after orphans and widows the way you handle the abandoned will determine how god handles you [Music] the way you handle people who suffer loss will determine how god handles you shawnee and i were in the convention center it was 10 000 people every step we took somebody wanted to take a picture and we kept going and we kept going and somebody said i was watching you and you all did not refuse a person i said you don't spend your whole life doing things where people recognize you only to turn your nose up when they do one of the worst kinds of people is the people who build their lives off of people and then don't want to deal with people after the people have helped them get where they want to be somebody want to take a picture you stop somebody wants to shake your hand stop who are you to walk past somebody who ran to come up to you [Applause] but god doesn't look at the outward appearance he's looking at the heart there is a behavior then by psychologists known as the orphan spirit everybody say the orphan spirit the orphan spirit is the spirit in all of us that reacts to the trauma we cannot explain i want to know if i'm in the house today if you've ever had any type of trauma in your life show me your hand i know this is true because none of y'all like your children so just raise your hand y'all know i'm just playing i know you're you're a beat a rattlesnake and a bear about your kids i understand you just didn't want to volunteer for church that's what uh children's church that's why you didn't raise me i know it ain't got nothing to do with your kids and we deal with lots of insecurity you know that feeling where you see somebody else doing well and you want to be happy for him but you can't help feeling sad because you want to know when your turn is coming oh come on help me and and and see this is the thing that we don't talk about it out loud because we'll be sitting there looking at somebody oh my god they are right where i want to be congratulations i'm sad because it's not me i'm so happy for you when is it going to be my turn look at you you doing well but i'm not doing so well and there's this thing going on inside of you but you can't tell anybody because it looks like jealousy but baby it ain't jealousy i'm just curious about when it's going to be my opportunity anybody ever had that conversation going inside of your mind inside of your body it's it's it's insecurity it's no inner security because we all got out of security we got our stature and our ground and our grimace and our structure and we hold our head up and we hold our chest out and i don't care what nobody thinks about me and i don't care what anybody feels and i am more than enough and yes you're saying that when your mouth but your spirit. [Applause] your spirit is fragile with money in the bank you can't you can't even find a smile you drive five cars but you can't seem to be happy you got garages everywhere around the town you got condos you got houses you got money you got influence you got a lot of social media followers you're beautiful you're handsome everybody knows you you got a great job you got a great position you got a office with a window facing over the city and yet you're insecure because somebody has one day better than you [Music] because they got a post with five more likes than you in secure and you know you're so wonderful you ain't got time no room or should you ever be jealous of anybody else here's what you don't understand you are already unique you devalue yourself when you try to fit in god ain't made another you so since you're the only you you might as well be you the reason why people don't know you is you're trying to be somebody else and when you turn around and stand up and expose the gift that he's put in you you will find out that god already put in the earth things people in places that are attracted to the authentic you so do me a favor somebody just say i'm gonna be me i'm gonna be me i'm gonna be me i'm gonna read how i read i'm gonna write how i write i'm gonna sing how i sing i'm gonna do what i do and i'm gonna make it do what it do because ain't nobody like me nowhere in the world look down your row and tell everybody i'm cute i don't know what you heard just tell them i don't know what you heard you ain't even complimenting me today what's wrong with your eyes god brought something this beautiful outside and you ain't saying nothing yet tell them i'm cute you better get it together snatch it y'all say i'm cute everybody say the orphan spirit joe the orphan spirit falsifies reality and like a computer it corrupts the information in the subconscious let me say that again kion that was good so what the orphan spirit does is it let me see if i can say it again is it it it falsifies reality and like a computer it it corrupts the information on the hard drive or in our instance the subconscious which is why it is so easy for you when you're upset to shut down any shutdowners in the room when you don't like it when you'll understand it when you don't feel like talking about it you just shut down some people shut down so hard that even when you talking to them they can't get a word out of their mouth just talk to me what's wrong with you say something for a bush on your head i'm gonna put you out i'ma set you on fire they so stubborn that they can't even respond in a threat if you sit next to somebody just kind of so i know who i'm preaching at that girl in the back said real you shut down so hard and so fast that you can't operate most people don't even know how to operate when they're upset can't be around people they don't like if you walk in the room and see somebody you don't like you walk right out cause you can't even stand to be in a hundred feet oh but that's the orphan spirit jesus said at the table with a betrayal for three years you never heard him complain about it [Applause] the orphan spirit orphan spirit so the the response to the litany of experiences initiates uh a cacophony of responses that that that that causes us to self-medicate i know i'm preaching that's why the lord stopped that praise and worship thing i got this because i was getting ready to just let us praise and worship on out of here but the lord told me to stop now i see why i can look in your face and tell you need this one we initiate a cacophony a plethora a multifaceted array of self-medicated ideologies but what we don't understand is just like prescribed medication self-medication also has side effects [Applause] [Music] and some of the side effects of self-medicating is insecurity one of the side effects of self-medicating is anytime anybody corrects you you feel like they're correcting you and not the behavior and so you shut down because anytime you get instruction you feel insecure because you think that when i don't like what you did it means i don't like you but that is not the truth because you must learn the difference between what you do and who you are the biggest lesson i can teach you today is if you learn who you are isn't what you did then you don't have to abandon life because somebody is not pleased with what you did it is the purpose of a parent to guide what you do but who you are is up to you any any parents in here i raised them but what they do after i raised them the only thing my mother used to say baby only thing i can do for you now is pray cause i can talk to you how many of y'all will admit you've been self-medicating okay so you know lying is a sin gonna ask you one what is wrong with your hands today what is wrong with right here how many of you all self-medicate um whether it's drink whether it's oh yeah oh yeah don't you act like sorak don't just taste good it ain't like it tastes like kool-aid so what you're drinking it for [Applause] so you can escape the pain because the more buzz you have the more you can enjoy life of the moment so you get a buzz to escape reality only to be depressed when you come down off of the bus then you end up sleeping with somebody you can't stand because you want to feel comfortable for five seconds depending on who it is 15. [Music] but i'm going to tell you something i want you to tell everybody in your section tell them self-worth cannot be found in the opinions of other people you will never know how much you are worth if you waiting on somebody else to tell you who you are you gotta know who you are when the deal starts you gotta know who you are when the relationship starts you don't wait on anybody to define or identify you you got to know that for yourself [Applause] so do me a favor look at your name say neighbor i look fly i look good oh oh i seen you you gotta know who you are otherwise you will be defined by people who benefit off of your dysfunction [Applause] i know who i am and it was the greatest discovery of my life [Applause] [Music] i wish i would have known a decade ago but when you have an orphan spirit your development is delayed and you don't find out what a man is until you've already been one for 10 years you don't know what a woman is until you've had three children [Music] you don't know what a wife is until the relationship is over you don't know what a husband is until you've got outside children we develop so late because we never deal with the spirit that restricts us man i don't know if this is the word [Applause] and eventually the self-medication and the anesthesia that you took wears off and you wake up and find out you're still sick you wake up and find out you're still hurt you wake up and find out that you thought you moved on and you are right where you left off cause one trigger will send you right back to that crazy person you used to be anybody thought that you had made a whole lot of progress you talking about i'm working jesus been working on me and i'm i'm better boo look at me and then somebody say something you pull out your blade how you better [Applause] the demon wasn't sleep was just in a coma and when it woke up some of us are still struggling because we didn't hear the voices of our fathers this is especially true because even if your father's in the home and if you are 30 40 years old your daddy was a boomer and he was a hard worker which means that he worked more than he did anything else and so you remember him coming home but you don't have any memories because he didn't pick you up he didn't he didn't toss you around he didn't play football he was tired when he got home he said at the head of the table got the biggest piece of the chicken and you couldn't talk to him you couldn't say nothing you were scared you couldn't go in his bedroom you couldn't open the door you had to knock on it all of that stuff oh my god i know i'm helping yo silence is a sound your mama was there but she couldn't love you properly because she was so dysfunctional and so hurt she wanted to leave him but couldn't because she didn't have an education so she stayed and she was frustrated and now she can't hug you because you remind her of the person who hurt her and so now you had a mama who did everything she could to buy you everything but she didn't have any love to pour on you because hers had been drained by her own dysfunction trauma and experiences am i talking to somebody in here and if i'm talking to you holler at me [Applause] the orphan spirit the orphan spirit man this thing is all in this house i can i can feel it so heavy i i feel every one of y'all on the stage i i literally have butterflies in my stomach because i feel you pulling on me because you've been dealing with this all of your life and the truth is you are more sick of you than anybody is but you can't say that and so since you can't say i'm sick of me then you say you sick of everybody else because as long as you can keep blaming people for your dysfunction you don't have to confront your reality but why don't you just decide to stand up today and say i'm tired of me i hate when i can't control my reactions i hate when i can't control myself i hate when i can't control what i think the good i would do [Applause] i do not and the things i do not do i do why because evil is present on every part that i'm perplexed [Applause] but yet not in despair cast down but not destroyed i'm bipolar and i haven't been diagnosed i'm dr jekyll and mr hyde i'm dr jekyll and that whenever god does something with me i hide because i don't want to be seen i don't want to be out front but i'm mr hyde because when nobody pays me attention i get insecure so on one moment i'm saying i don't want to be seen i don't want nobody to see me i just want to be in the background i just want to be a support but then when nobody calls your name did you growling well you had ain't nobody hollering ain't nobody calling dr jekyll and mr hyde don't see me see me don't talk about me talk about me leave me alone don't leave me alone i'm mad at you but hug me don't touch me hug me if you touch me i'mma kill you hug me why didn't you hug me you don't love me what shut up confused [Music] this is a problem with relationships because now it's like you don't you look at me like don't touch me and then tomorrow you didn't even touch me well who gonna touch you with that growl on your face and then scott what was i supposed to do i thought you was gonna stab me if i came near you [Applause] i'm leaving i ain't never coming back tomorrow why you didn't chase me the orphan spirit how many of us got it [Music] some of y'all need to say i am the orphan spirit and we are many y'all remember when legion said my name is legion for we are many he has 6 000 demons inside of him and every one of us in here you got multiple personalities happy sad depressed ready to conquer the world internal external introvert extrovert well i'm an introvert when i'm around people i don't know but i'm an extrovert when i'm around people i know that's called normal just like the rest of us i can't even get to the scripture because i feel like we stuck in this cycle of the orphan spirit where you are sitting in that sea wonderfully made feeling like you're worthless you ain't got to admit it i know it i can see it in your face beautiful enough to be in a magazine but hate what you see in the mirror smart enough to open a fortune 500 company but you can't ever get over it because you've been a baby and you're a grown man and we're stuck and any attempt to make us better we reject because correction is painful and when we are confronted with our own realities we get sleepy because we'd rather you just shout us give us a little medicine so we can make it to next week i just want to feel better but i can't show up for my own deliverance so any sermon that lasts longer than 30 minutes i don't want it but you know surgery lasts for hours this is a procedure [Music] this is not a checkup checkups last for a few moments but when you settle down to get the procedure you got to check in you got to make sure your vitals are right then you got to check out it takes time to get well let me hurry up but i do know that your orphan spirit has caused you to react in a way that's alienated to people who were drawn to who you used to be you have killed the person that made us love you in the name of survival you know the person that drew us to you you killed that person because somebody hurt that person now you don't want to be that person anymore because somebody broke that person but you must understand it was that person that made us fall in love with you in the first place and you cannot kill the part of you that all of us love because you're upset because of the person who didn't love it open your heart again put a smile on your face again open your heart to love again give yourself an opportunity to be vulnerable again and don't build a prison for me because i wasn't there when the crime happened you'd be surprised at how many people in your life are paying for somebody who's no longer in your life my name is keon i'm not keith john or tyrone and you better make sure that you deal with the people who are in front of you and stop dealing with the people who are behind you because the orphan always deals with the person who left it is the reason why you can adopt a child and they will treat the people bad that they live with because they're upset with the people who abandoned them my mother adopted two children when we were younger and when we had gotten older and moved out she adopted two children here i am looking at my aging mother running around town going to school to take care of two boys whose parents had abandoned them but they could not treat her properly because of the people who had left them and she eventually had to let them go because the most dangerous thing in the world is to make somebody who's to stay who wants to leave [Applause] touching them say i tried that that don't work my god well let's see what we got next oh you know what she said no i'm gonna tell you then i want to i want to visit this idea of the duality of personality of how you even confuse yourself and and you are so great that you don't know it and the reason you don't notice because you're so broken and here you are thinking that everybody is jealous of you but what you don't know is they're really annoyed with you because they're looking at you saying if i had what you had you think people are jealous of you they're annoyed with you because they're looking at you like oh my god do you see what god gave you do you see who you are do you understand that if i had half of what you had i would be happy and to the people who are annoyed with the people who are blessed here let me give you the other side of the coin you couldn't handle what they had to go through to get where they are and so instead of all of us judging each other can't we all just get along and recognize it rings on the just and the unjust sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down and when you're down i'ma bring you my up but please don't forget me because when i'm down i'ma need your up when i'm depressed i'ma need your prayers but baby when i see tears from you i'ma wipe them from your eyes is there anybody in the room and watching me online that understands that sometimes you just need to be who you are for the people you can be it for and those who don't want you don't force yourself on them and those who do give them all you got without the burden and the blessing of your past just do me a favor and tell somebody near you i'm here for you i don't need anything from you i'm not trying to use you i am coming i am binding up that orphan spirit that makes you think that every time somebody looking in your direction they talking about you i bind that orphan spirit that every time somebody walks past you you don't think oh they acting funny do you know some people ain't looking for you and you ain't that important that everybody see you every time you walk in a room oh they acting funny they didn't say nothing well you didn't either so who's acting funny [Applause] that's a two-way street people always say they acting funny they ain't even say nothing well if saying something is the benchmark then say something when they don't say nothing [Applause] shawnee will tell you i make people see me i walk around in our neighbor in my neighborhood where our neighbors don't see us and they be looking at me and and maybe i'll be like hey i said hey hey you gonna speak to me i make people speak to me i make them i can tell why they don't like me i'm gonna come here buddy i'm glad to meet you you gonna hug me today ain't got nothing to do with me you're gonna have to have you're gonna have to hold that dysfunction on your own i ain't gonna act funny cause you act funny i'm not gonna treat you like you treat me in fact the worse you treat me the better i'm gonna treat you why because i got a home over in glory i got a crown waiting on me and i'm not gonna ruin my reservations because you don't to tip [Applause] so give your neighbor high five because you sit next to them funny i don't want to do high fives and church people you know i didn't come here it's covered you wasn't worried about that at the new edition concert i saw you i was there you was twerking you was picking it up letting it down dropping like it's hot now taste and see that the lord is good and make some noise in the house of the lord [Music] [Applause] somebody shall face it stop running from this spirit face it head on otherwise you're going to be 50 acting like a boy [Music] you're going to be 50 acting like a girl face it deal with it confront it before it destroys you and it took me 37 years to learn it so i ain't judging you because this is hard work no no this ain't easy baby this is this gonna be the fight of your life but it's your life and you're gonna have to fight for it ain't you tired of being depressed aren't you tired of feeling insecure [Music] aren't you tired of not being genuinely happy when somebody's winning i love to see people win it makes me so happy when i see people doing well i absolutely love it love it love it you don't have to interrupt somebody's testimony with what god did for you somebody come you said look god gave me a new card let me tell you what he did for me uh just congratulations to duke um you you have your moment next time this is my moment i want to hear from you right now i've never heard of you be gone if you don't do this you're going to pass us trauma to the next generation i'm telling you right now that ain't good bishop jakes was telling us at the conference y'all doing all right cause i'll let you go if you want to go somewhere i'm like yeah i do go ahead listen they did they did a dna structure test and analysis on the the people of the holocaust bishop was telling us this week in the sermon and he said that when they did an analysis of the dna structure of the survivors of the holocaust they did it on the grandchildren and found out that their molecular structure had been changed because of the holocaust which means their lives were changed by an event they didn't even witness your trauma can be so deep that you can be transferred to your baby while you're rocking it [Music] and here you are beating them talking about what's wrong with you you the only reason why david had to fight goliath is because his parents didn't kill all the giants and gas if they would have killed all the giants and gaff just like god told them to there wouldn't have been any giants to fight but whenever you want to rock your giant and feed your giant and hope that you can change your giant your giant wakes up and acts like a tiger and bites your neck off even after you fed it and i ain't even got to the text yet god lee i'm gonna let y'all go cause i know y'all can't handle this but y'all can but there's some people in here like i'm real [Music] [Applause] you can't rush surgery david got daddy issues y'all there was dysfunction surrounding his birth and then just think about this can you imagine when he was at home and samuel shows up to the house to pick somebody and all of the people in the house and he looking through the window like dang my daddy didn't even call me in there my daddy taking care of his other kids but even taking care of me he taking care of his other family some of them his step-kids and they them his half-kids you know whatever we say and here i am i look more like him than anybody and he ain't taking care of me david is looking in the window watching his daddy give his other sons a selection a selection and here he is on the outside looking in and that's where a lot of us are on the outside looking in is distraught david's got all kind of stuff going on in his heart i was watching the internet uh on one of somebody's page and and i'm not gonna talk about it because i don't know all the facts but we all saw what happened at the oscars and and um now they're going back and see see trauma always has a way of resurfacing at an event now they're going back finding old recordings of chris rock and one in particular i saw where he was talking about how he got beat up as a kid and so how he had to deal with with being beat up as a kid and then he said he was on saturday night live the last time somebody walked up and punched him in the face and robbed him he was a grown man and he said he said the thing about trauma you better hear what i'm getting ready to say he said the thing about trauma is that whenever you think about it your body feels like it's happening right now he said you're experiencing it right now and that is where most of us lose the top on our lid is because anytime we think about the thing that hurt us we cannot think about it in this proper position we can only think about it where we are here you are ready to fight over something that happened and not happening [Applause] oh i'm about to stay right here because i think i'm in the house you deal with everything as if it's happening right now you cannot deal with anything individual and the only courage you have is to wrap all of your experiences into this moment so you can justify your illegitimate response i'm mad with you because this ain't the first time it happened but what if i added up all of them so what happened to him on this stage is not what happened to him on this stage what happened to him on the stage is what happened to him over his life and when you cannot put trauma in its proper place you feel as if when i hit you everybody whoever hits you hits you you feel all the smacks so whenever somebody doesn't like you you feel like nobody likes you and so instead of using words of specificity you use words of generality it always happens everybody's after me nobody likes me it's always bad it's always difficult i don't ever get a break god don't love me and you're lying to yourself it's the orphan spirit talking in replacement of the holy spirit who am i talking to in this place if i'm helping you say go deeper if you feel like i am just wearing you out just raise your hand if you just feel like you just exhausted like this dude is just doing too much because i don't want to give you more than you can handle but if this is like laying on the couch and getting therapy and i'm really giving voice to things that you don't have the courage to speak on because you always got to pretend that you're stronger than you are you always got to pretend like you're healthier than you are and sometimes you need to say i'm sick pretending to be well would never get the problem solved somebody shot him not well the orphan spirit relentlessly attacked david he felt abandoned he had father issues he felt lonely as a teenager he felt he was betrayed by saul he left his daddy house to go to saul's house only to get over saul's house and have him try to kill him he would have been better off staying with his daddy but when you're when your orphan spirit makes your decision you choose worse over better so you get rid of somebody but since you let the orphan spirit make the next choice you make a worse choice the next time so now he's at david's david is at saul's house now he dodging spears when the only thing he had to dodge there was no selection can i just give you this word whatever you do because jesse didn't have any clue that he had a king in this house he had all these fakers up front i wonder how many people you brought to the front of your life who faking and how many you people you got in the back of your life that are real kings he got his king in the backyard can i just help you please make sure that the kid in you doesn't kill the king in you [Applause] don't let the smallest part of you rob the biggest person that you are because god is about to give you an opportunity to stand on the stage of your life and exercise the gift and stir up the gift that he has inside of you but if you let the trauma kill you before you get an opportunity you will never be able to become what god made you to be i am going to give you 30 seconds to make a declaration in this room i am what god says i am i'm going to become what god says i'm going to become i'm going to do what god says i can do in the name of jesus do i have somebody who will spend the next 30 seconds speaking well over yourself you spent the last 30 years talking negative to yourself can you spend the next 30 seconds talking positive to yourself i shall overcome i am the lender not to borrow i'm more than enough i am supreme in my calling god's got his hand on me i am his child speak well of yourself [Applause] somebody shall break the curse somebody shouted break the curse if you don't break the curse you're not gonna be able to raise the children if you don't break the curse you won't be able to raise the capital to open up the company listen to me you cannot lead what you need [Applause] you can't raise well children if you're a sick parent can't have a relationship that's healthy if you're unhealthy in your spirit it's the orphan spirit ladies and gentlemen that has grabbed the hold of the church and we got a father that never died even though he died that never sleeps nor slumbers you're not an orphan you had a father before you had parents that's why the devil put a spirit on it [Applause] and it's haunting you even amidst this word if you get in the parking lot and the right thing is said by the wrong person you will forget this whole sermon in a nanosecond and go king kong on somebody it's amazing how many people sit in the service and never carry the word [Music] this ain't entertainment this life you're supposed to actually be listening to me not showing up to make a checklist i went to church you're supposed to be thy word have i hidden in my heart that in the time of trouble i will not sin against you gotta but that's why the bible says he puts some of the seed fell on stony ground and some fell amongst the thorns because if you don't till the ground of your mind your mind will choke the word that i'm putting in it and it will not blossom and bear fruit i'ma let you go but not without challenging you this is what you call a pastor all right well this but i know everybody don't want a pastor but this is what you call pastoring pastor ain't just somebody who show up at the funeral a pastor and somebody who just showed up at the wedding a pastor somebody who shows up at life [Applause] and speaks life and preaches life and gives you life so you can transfer that life [Applause] to somebody here stand on your feet y'all can't handle it never even got to the sermon because i'm looking at you i don't want to put too much on you i think that this is like one of those times we just need to sit down in a chair and have a conversation this word has been burdening me for the last five days because i knew the weight of it and i know that most of you have been letting the orphan spirit tell your story you dressed up i know we're gonna go to instagram you're gonna be post up against some restaurant fabulous day i'm looking fabulous ain't only to really not believe it me and my girls are having a good time we ballin byron [Music] only to go home and cry cause you're lonely you're going to have as many mimosas as you can to forget about the fact that you're not happy with yourself i get it you don't want this medicine you want self-medication the only thing i ever seen the devil be afraid of is the word of god [Applause] he ain't afraid of you spending money you don't have to buy stuff you can't afford to appear to be doing better to people as a way of getting back at them from abandoning you because after you buy what you can't afford to show them that you're doing well now you're going to be depressed because you broke you better stop competing with your past and live in your present when david's brothers was being picked i can imagine he took out his pen as you know he was a writer pastor torrence and he started writing psalm 69 and he said those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs on my head many are my enemies without cause he says i am forced listen to restore what i didn't steal [Music] i'm explaining myself for an anointing i didn't even ask for [Music] he says some of y'all gonna feel this this next verse says i'm a foreigner in my own home [Music] i can't tell you don't let that orphan spear write your story [Music] because if david really was paying attention he would have known that he was different because when samuel anointed saul as king [Music] the bible says that saul brought a flask and pour the oil on saul's head god says saul i have removed my hand from david being the king of israel now i got to let you all go all right trauma will make you read wrong like yeah because trauma will make you misread a text message oh yes it will and then you go back a day later after you had the argument and said oh my god [Applause] that ain't even what it said so our trauma has made us misinterpret first samuel 16 because most of us suffer with the orphan spirit we say god removed his hand from saul that's not what the bible says the bible says that god removed his hand from saul as being the sovereign over israel in other words god's saying saul i still have my hand on you you're just no longer my selection for this job but most people don't know the difference between what they do and who they are so when you don't like the job they're doing they interpret it as you don't like me there is a way for me to love you and not be in love with the work you're doing so when he removed his hand from him to be king saul said god don't like me no more okay now now i'm confused because did you forget i'm the one that picked you so if there is something wrong with this relationship there must be something you did after i picked you that changed the nature of our agreement i was attracted to you because of who you were i am no longer attracted to you because of the way you behave you're arrogant and you're entitled and i need a king that's humble if you look at david it don't make no sense for god to replace saul for david david was a mess he was not a better choice but he could be trusted with trouble can i trust you with trouble not a position anybody can get a position [Music] so he poured the oil on salt with a what flask but when he poured the oil on david the bible says that saul pulled out his horn i wonder why he used a different mechanism a flask is like a jar a man-made thing because saul was their choice for king so god said since y'all want them i'ma give them to you and let me tell you some of the problems you have are the ones you actually pray for god told you no your mama told you no but you just had to have it everybody shout that last relationship was a flask [Music] man made hallelujah in the name of jesus bakisha kisha this time when he brings the oil he brings a horn a horn of a goat because this time the oil must flow from something god made [Music] [Applause] and every one of those people that was in line are y'all still here [Music] mama wanted to put the oil over abinadab it didn't move went to shama oil didn't move elia or didn't move didn't move didn't move didn't move go get david pull him out of field david don't take a shower come in here depressed come in here stinking come in here fatherless come in here broke come here insecure come in just like you are and he put the oil over david and it flowed because let me tell you something the oil will flow even if you nasty the oil will flow even if you depress the oil will flow even if you're insecure the oil will flow even if you don't have an education because what god has for you [Music] the oil doesn't take an aptitude test before it flows it flows when god said it my friend pastor don johnson told me he said did you not know that the oil has ears because it didn't flow until god said flow let me tell you something god is about to speak a word over your life that's gonna make things flow in your life in ways they didn't flow for anybody else that's why you ain't gotta worry because if the oil ain't for them it ain't gonna flow [Applause] it ain't they house it's your house [Music] it ain't their idea it's your idea it's not their season it's your season somebody shout oil flow flow flow come on just do this to yourself say oil flow flow flow flow flow flow jesse and i'm talking to some of you jesse don't let saul steal your king the king's in your house don't you lose that king don't you lose that queen don't you lose that child because you don't see their potential i know they got straight c's and i know they got these and i know you got straight a's that's fine your child might not have the iq you had but they got a gift you ain't got and the problem with most parents is the only child they like is the one that reminds them of them you think your best child is the one that act like you but god gonna use the one you ain't got nothing in common with too the one that's difficult to deal with they ain't difficult to deal with they just ain't like you which is why they go to school and listen to somebody who ain't you [Music] which is why the coach can get through to him and you can't [Music] i'm preaching you whether you say man or not i know you're tired of standing up but i've been standing up longer than all of y'all i'ma say this and i'm gonna go you know you know how many y'all watch basketball anybody watch basketball i i i watch basketball i'm the kind of basketball i watch the pre-game show the game the post game show a game don't last two hours for me a game last nine days i watch everything the build up the after build up i watch espn seven times in a row i'll be showing shiny on the phone like did you see that dunk like dang she like i don't care that he just did a windmill i'd like but did you see it one thing that i like is uh i like i like to watch steph curry i think he's amazing i like steph steph is a beast and his daughter riley uh be at the uh post game interviews and he'll he'll sit riley on his lap and riley don't care riley being at my time she be hitting the mic and saying stuff and pointing and some people are annoyed by it some people um get annoyed by it but i don't i'm amused by it because when i see her sitting in her father's lap in what's supposed to be an important place it shows me what a father does a father invites you into any circle any place any environment that will improve your experience so the next time you feel like you don't fit just climb in your daddy's lap [Music] the next time you feel insecure just crawl up in your daddy's arms and tell him all about your troubles [Music] and say to him father if you don't help me i don't know how i'm going to make it [Music] god is telling me to tell you as a son and daughter you don't have to audition to be his he chose you before the foundation of the world somebody shout i'm his i need you to say it like you mean it don't worry about who doesn't want you don't worry about whose you're not i just want you to worship god right now that while we were yet sinners he still loved us [Applause] i bind the orphan spirit and i loose the holy spirit in this place romans 8 15 says you have received the spirit of adoption and you can cry abba father abba means daddy you are adopted and you are adopted by your original father do you hear me [Applause] do you hear me he brought you back [Music] from the person who stole you at birth i am redeemed [Applause] i've been brought with a price if you're in this place today have you ever felt abandoned if you've ever felt insecure if you've ever felt you don't belong if you struggle to find value in you i want you to meet me at the altar [Music] if you can be honest [Music] [Music] come close don't don't leave any gaps just come in god's gonna protect you don't worry about it [Music] [Music] me oh my god [Music] [Music] [Music] it won't always be like this [Music] that a witch could serve you [Music] everybody say it's turning around for me i i um i only preach this today because it's kind of a testimony more than it is a sermon i remember the day that i woke up and finally thought that my life is my responsibility and that i could create the reality that i wanted to have and i didn't have to keep letting my past speak to me because the truth is i didn't pick it so why was i arguing with it [Music] i didn't tell my mama to meet my daddy i didn't tell my sisters to be my sisters i didn't ask my mama to be born in gary i didn't ask to go to four elementary schools in five years i didn't ask to live in a new apartment every year the struggle and strain of never being able to make a friend in your community because you had to move to the other side of town then you move somewhere else and just when you got comfortable you got to move somewhere else and just when you got a friend you thought which is why can i tell you something my sister kiana has to remind me about people i went to school with because i don't remember none of them she'll tell me i just saw ray such and such you remember him nope no clue i was too busy recovering from life to even recognize who i was surrounded by i was trying to stay out of jail trying to figure out how are you going to be a 14 year old preacher and a whole food at the same time i was 14 years old preaching the gospel can you imagine the things they said about me when i did something wrong every time i did something oh then the preacher the preacher boy the preacher boy and i was wearing suits young so you can imagine what they were saying about me i remember i wore orange suit to the talent show the same you remember that orange suit that jim carrey wore in dumb and dumber i wore that to the sixth grade talent show and i sung rocking knocking the boots i son that first and then i won i won second place and then came back the next year and sung jodeci forever my lady y'all remember that i've been smooth like this a long time don't let it fool you i've been i've been like this a while it didn't just happen and i didn't i didn't have a man in the house it was just my mom and my sisters now how one boy four girls that ain't the bad part one bathroom and i had to wait on them and they knew i had to wait and they made me wait four of us shared one bedroom we had four beds in the same room my mama had to nail screw one to the wall my sister danielle slept on a plywood made bed above our bunk bed so that way because we have enough floor space and we we have one bedroom set in that room with three dresses one for each of the girls my clothes was on the ground i remember when i got my own bed i was in middle school and i got my own bed my mama bought me a batman cover i kept that batman cover to the cotton fell out of it because it represented the time that i have my own space my sister and i kiana wherever she had this one right here we we used to have to take baths in the same water so she would take a bath in it first because she was the girl and then i got to get in the bathtub when it looked like milk and and let me tell you get out of that tub and don't clean that ring around it and see what's going to happen to you we just have to get some comment we used to have to wash dishes because there wasn't no dishwasher when we did get a dishwasher she didn't let us use it because it was going to run up the electric bill we had air conditioning in one room which was the living room and we could only turn it on when she got home from work we was hot all day long i'm just trying to give you a picture into my reality that woman worked at taco bell and a place called zelles selling chili cheese hot dogs to put food on the table i can't tell you how many chili cheese hot dogs i ate in my life and if you give me one right now i'm gonna throw it right back at you there's two things i don't want from you frosted flakes cause i had enough of them and chili cheese hot dogs i think that's why i don't like wet bread because zelle's used to put the chili on the bread and and the bread would be soggy that woman did what she could when i say she worked her finger to the bone my mama worked all day and all night by the time i became a senior in high school and i'm going to show you how how hard she worked we were in from that to by the time i was a senior in high school i was voted best dressed i went from having no clothes to having the best clothes in the school with 2 000 people oh and by the way we was wearing uniforms i was so dope that i was killing uniforms [Music] and i was preaching on stages in my 20s with hundreds and thousands of people grew up and traveled to africa and north america south america australia london paris england france preaching all those places still insecure still wondering when it was going to be my turn not knowing it was my turn and you're going to waste your life hoping for the future and you're in it the orphan spirit [Applause] i'ma pray the thing off of you [Music] you ain't never gonna contemplate suicide again throw those pills away you ain't in pain pour that liquor down the sink you don't need it talking about you waiting for people to come over let them bring they own if you don't change your environment you're going to fall victim to it and i don't believe that those of y'all who didn't come don't need this prayer so i'm going to pretend like you think where you are as the altar god in the name of jesus i strip the orphan spirit from these thy people i rebuke it i bind it i come up against it i put the blood of jesus over it there is no condemnation to those who are in christ jesus help us to see our reality in christ and to know that we are the head and not the tale that it doesn't matter what we have or what we don't have you made us wonderful and you created us and that because we are divorced or because we are single or because we are unhappy or because we are poor or because we're overwhelmed or because we're underemployed or because we're under qualified none of that was put into the equation when you started to send the oil in our direction the oil is going to flow whether we have a ged or a master's degree the oil is going to flow whether we are single or been married for 30 years the oil is going to flow whether you have a job or whether you're an entrepreneur or whether you are under or not employed the oil is going to flow whether you're black or white the oil is going to flow whether you're tall or not tall the oil is going to flow whether you're an apartment or a mansion the oil is going to flow whether you catch an uber or you have a fleet of cars the oil is going to flow because you created us as oil carriers [Music] give us the wherewithal to stay strong enough to see this journey to the end wipe the tears from our eyes erase the insecurity out of our hearts and spirits deal with our quick tempers and our shutting down mechanisms and sweeping it under the rug and acting like it didn't happen our anger our frustration our jealousy our rage our envy the spirit of rejection satan we come up against you and who the son has set free i said who the son has set free is free indeed if you are free in this place today open up your mouth [Applause] and shout unto god the maker of both heaven and earth come on and give them glory come on come on open up your mouth and give him glory to the way stay right where you are now do me a favor cause i'm not gonna let you shout out of here on this one but this ain't no concert you hear me man cause i saw you doing the service you you've been so broken you don't even think you can ever be put back together i i i can tell that you don't even like yourself most recently you remember when you tried to hurt yourself you know why you failed because god ain't through with you i'm buying that devil off of you right now i bind that devil off of you right now [Music] there you go there you go come on holy ghost do a new work [Music] somebody's been praying for her [Music] i see you think everybody here just as well as faking it as you somebody is about to break somebody listen look around somebody is they are on the verge of either breaking or breakthrough which one you want which one do you want when we went to go see uh new edition i didn't i didn't know that women were still going that crazy over a new audition i mean them ladies was going crazy they was in that and all that dancing and they went off the stage and nobody was ready for it to be over and and it was longer than church you was there okay i saw i thought i saw you from a distance and and it was going crazy like it started out with jodeci jodeci was that man then uncle charlie came out there and he had two knee surgeries he was up there rocking and all that i was like whatever doctor he did i need his number when i get old [Music] and then new addition it was it was like three hours and it was a half hour in between sets because they had to take their band off and change the instruments and it was all night and when all that happened this is what the people were saying man encore they wanted more i've never understood why whenever god whenever god is performing a miracle we're not saying i'm cool i'm caught we're thinking about parking lot traffic can you forget about what you're gonna have to experience in the next five minutes and expect god to do something in the next five seconds come on open up your mouth and begin to speak to him god perform a miracle in this room do something for my neighbor that they can't do for themselves break strongholds break chains break shackles if you believe it open up your mouth and give them praise in this place oh i wish i had a church i wish i had a real church come on open up your mouth and give him glory come on and shout him to the walls fall down shout out to glory comes over your life [Music] [Applause] walk out of this door do me a favor as you walk out that is not a door that is not a door say it son that is a passage they're opening them open them up y'all so they can see the light at the end of the tunnel open them up y'all turn around [Music] look at the light at the end of the tunnel don't go toward that light if you're still dark don't walk out that door if you ain't ready because we're going to stay at this altar in worship if you ain't ready you stay right where you are if you got what you need god bless you may his face smile upon you may you get home and he bless you and you're going to you're coming you walk out that door i changed man or changed woman but don't walk towards that light until you got the orphan spirit in check don't walk out that door until you put depression in this proper place don't walk out that door until you can hold your head up high and really mean it i need some secure people i need some blessed people i need some authoritative people to lift up your voice and give them glory [Music] let's go god bless you get home and be safe hallelujah [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] i won't go back oh [Music] okay i won't go i can't go back [Music] go back i can't go back listen to me if i were you i found a way to break out and i know this is teaching because i've some of us we've been in church so long we know what to do but some of y'all standing there like you're just waiting on god to let you out or i i think you just want the devil just devil leave me alone he ain't going away he benefits off of your dysfunction so you expecting him to leave you alone you can forget it what would you do if you were in chains and you thought you could break them what would you do how would you straight i pressed toward the mark i strain some of y'all are chained to the ground and your tradition says just stay there just just cry and all that but no you got to be desperate you got to be desperate you got to be desperate i'ma give you five seconds to get yourself ready for desperation i'm gonna give you five seconds to get yourself ready for desperation somebody say i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i'm desperate i need a change i'm desperate i need a miracle i'm desperate i need a blessing i'm desperate i need a breakthrough i'm desperate come on desperate people come on and roots up and grab it come on and reach up and grab it come on and reach up and grab it what's your cute self i need you to get ugly before god i need you to get up in here for god i need you to get ugly before god and get your miracle your child is waiting on it your son needs it your daughter needs it your relationship needs it search after him he who hungers after righteousness shall be filled you're not gonna be filled until you get hungry somebody shot a painting as the new planters for strings of water so my soul verse for you oh god [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Music] you can walk out that door [Music] but ain't nothing gonna change just because you showed up if that was the case you you would already had it come in [Music] come on right there just lift up your voice and worship them come on come on don't just spectate lift up your voice and give him worship if you're an expectation from god to do anything come on come on come on your miracle is in this room your breakthrough is in this room but god is waiting on you to respond to him come on come on how will you respond if you know your miracle is right here come on i said how will you respond listen to me [Music] this this man that i'm holding if you were going through what he's going through you wouldn't have showed up today and i'm telling you and and i'm not minimizing what you're praying for some of y'all might be praying like lord help my relationship with my mom or help my relationship with my kids or help me with my insecurity how do you care for your mom yes he's 52. [Music] he waited his whole life to get married you got mary wynn april 25th last year april 25th last year so it hadn't even been a year and his wife died after 10 months 52 years to lose it in 10 months and he's at the altar is there anything too hard for god [Applause] so i know i know you think it's hard sometimes you got to forget about yourself start realizing you know what this thing that i'm this is a light affliction [Music] my yoke is easy and my burdens are light not to mention in the last several years he lost his brother-in-law and his father and you don't trust them for a cell phone bill you can't trust him for a car note [Music] and the reason why he's standing here and he told me this himself if it wasn't for the word that was in his heart before this situation [Music] and when he called me on the phone i didn't give him no advice i just say man you need to be strong i said i ain't got no advice for you i'm just listening but he's standing here can i tell you something if you start preparing you won't have to do so much repair [Applause] that's why i got you here right now because you don't know when your opportunity to have to stand on the word of god in the most difficult hour that's what the bible means when it says you know what one day you look up and say oh he did give me the peace that surpasses the whole understanding and it's the kind of peace you can't access until you need it so when i'm asking you to praise him i'm asking you to act desperate i'm asking you to do it in advance before he creates a situation where you have to do it involuntarily you have to break before god ask the pants for water so my soul [Music] thirsts for you oh god [Music] when you get home don't tell nobody church was long it's been over i just said you can leave whenever you want but don't walk out that passage if you're not ready to walk into the newness of life and when you are you walk out i'm at work i ain't in a hurry church don't end for when the clock strikes a time it ends when god says it's over [Music] [Applause] do me a favor tell the devil don't rush me i feel the spirit of rush trying to get you out of here somebody somebody texting you talking about i'm in the parking lot hurry up where you at you make him wait i'll give you an uber if you can't get home [Music] lift your hands [Music] i'm lost [Music] [Music] sounds so good say hi [Music] and i [Music] lord god once again thou art the potter we are the clay help us to deal with that orphan spirit that so easily death beset us let us know no weapon formed against us shall be able to prosper and that every lying tongue even that of the past and the enemy that rises up against us shall be condemned in the name of jesus the christ we pray somebody say man do me a favor hug somebody on your way out and tell them you shall live and not die [Music] [Applause] [Music] what an amazing time we had in the service today the word was phenomenal listen if you haven't had the opportunity to join our church the information is on the screen we want to connect with you or maybe you're saying hey i just want to sow a seed into what they're doing right there at the lighthouse
