hi I'm Patrick from douglas-fir design this is a TCT boring bit I actually think it's pretty exciting if you'd like to see a really boring bit take a look at this so quantity CT Forstner bits a forged from the finest steel the 3 millimeter tungsten carbide cutting tips and flutes which dramatically improve borman's and durability design for the professor ah I was boring let's see what this thing can do so with this TCT we just did a run of nine holes in this 35 mil black pot it's pretty tough recyclable hardwood I was actually surprised I knew it was going to be quicker but when I did the comparison with the original forcing bit which I have here it just went through in half the time whenever I've used a force in a bit I've always had to cool the bit multiple times especially in a really hard wood like this and after the nine holes consecutively one up the other with the TCT I was able to pull this bit off the drill and handle it without calling it once between any of the holes and that's what that really surprised me because I've had a standard for smoking in in this in a single hole that I did before um so that that time savings on a piece where I'm doing multiple holes especially in hardwood that really adds up it means it's safer means the hole is cleaner the bit isn't expanding contracting as much with the heat and for me that's just if I don't have a whole bunch of hardwood smoke in my face as well as all the dust that's a that's a real benefit what I noticed about the TCT is it has carbide teeth as well as a carbide blade in the centre and what that means is that the body of the steel of the tools made from isn't actually in contact with the timber as its spinning you'll notice with the standard force now you've got all of this surface which is constantly rubbing on the timber and I reckon that's is predominantly where a lot of the heat is coming from these carbide teeth are going to stay sharper for a lot longer and that means you're just going to get cut after cut that's cleaner cooler and quicker and for me that that are savings in time and I feel like it also makes it safer that's a real benefit to me you can pick up these Takata TCT boring bits from timber con in Coburg or online at timber con-com aun for the professional woodworker the torkado TCT bits will retain their sharpness for much longer than regular force the bits Insurance smooth hole walls more efficient cutting and drilling less generated heat and safer handling in the workshop
