The Man With The World's Best Beard

[Music] the man you're looking at has the world's best beard officially it is 18 inches long and 12 years old and this beard won the world beard and mustache championship who is this guy why did he grow his beard and how much money did he make from it in minnesota united states of america i found mj hi i'm mj johnson and i have one of the world's best beers 12 years ago mj was sitting in a dark basement when he saw a photo of a competition for the world's best beard this competition was so weird so ridiculous so crazy that mj wanted to try and get first place at it overnight i just fell in love with the idea it became my dream so he decided to grow a beard he put away his razor stopped shaving and let his facial hair grow longer and longer for years i knew i wanted to grow a world championship level beard or mustache because it turns out competitive beard growing is serious business it wasn't enough to just have a lot of hair on your face like this you have to have unique hair at a beard contest judges mark you down for a variety of things i like to break it down into three categories it's your beard your outfit and your stage presence and there are not just one or two categories but 16 categories at the world championships you can have a hungarian mustache natural mustache english mustache freestyle mustache there's a lot of styles that get celebrated so he picked one category and went for it i really didn't know you know what was gonna happen but i knew i was gonna try his first attempts at growing an epic beard looked terrible and to make things worse when the beard was growing he was made fun of everybody thought he was a crazy guy and he looked horrendous strangers come up to me on the street they'll uh the collie names sometimes his first competitions were a failure but he did not give up instead he tried again and again and again working hard on perfecting his style it took him four years until he finally won a beard competition [Applause] and in addition to winning the competition he won the admiration of the world with this kind of look he became world famous his beard appeared in media all over the world on beard products that were sold in the us or on ads on trucks in europe or even on newspapers in asia he also got to travel join beard clubs around the world and make lifelong friends with a lot of hair gosh it's just been a really really cool amazing passport to the world that i don't know where i'd be without it mj is a great example that it doesn't matter if you have a crazy dream it doesn't matter if you're bad at it at first you just have to give your dream a hundred and ten percent of your efforts your efforts will pay off sometimes in the most surprising way you should try at something even if you're not good at it because you don't know what's next youtube if you like this video then i think you're gonna love nas academy it's a new online school we just started to give you a voice yes making videos has given me a voice and with this voice you can reach millions of people on the internet tell them stories that you care about and actually change their opinion this skill of making videos changed my life and i think it can change yours nas academy has a lot of courses that are live they're not pre-recorded so there's real people from the nas daily team that teach you how to make videos like we do give you your voice that you so desperately need in today's world you're a business if you're an entrepreneur if you're a family person you need a voice on the internet and nasa academy helps you get that voice click on the link below if you want to see the courses that we offer we have very limited spots so grab yours today thank you so much and i'll see you tomorrow for another video
