Thinking of albums that have great sequencing: CTRL, Igor, Lemonade.

Loved his song choices! I've been a fan of Nathan's for so many years I hope he makes more music related videos like this

I've literally re-ordered track listings on albums if they are really bad, like TS's Lover and some other albums. It really kills the mood if there is almost a mood whiplash about an album.

That being said, my fave albums with great tracklisting:

Born To Die: Paradise Edition - Lana Del Rey

Mala Santa - Becky G

Creature! - Nitty Scott

Chromatica, the Fame Monster - Lady Gaga

Fallen, The Open Door - Evanescense

Folklore - Taylor Swift

Play On - Carrie Underwood

Infinity On High - Fall Out Boy

I love a well-sequenced album, I feel like I would say A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, Electra Heart, Chromatica and Lemonade are some albums that immediately come to mind when I think of albums that I rarely shuffle.

The new 1975 album was awful for this, seemingly no thought put into where any of the songs was gonna go.

Tha Carter III is a long-ass album that doesn’t feel long because its sequence is perfect.

Also, inb4 the bot comes to comment “long ass-album”

Edit: especially if you copped the legit one before “Playing With Fire” got replaced by “Pussy Monster.” The “Playing With Fire” -> “You Ain’t Got Nothing” transition is one of the best I’ve ever heard that doesn’t rely on cross-fading the tracks or making them a continuous sound. Just perfect sequencing.

Chromatica and Lemonade have phenomenal sequencing

Also with the exception of the final two songs so does Future Nostalgia

It’s interesting how a few years ago the industry was abandoning albums in favour of EPs and now in the last year or two, while songs have often gone under the 3 minute mark, albums tend to be longer, have transitional songs, flow into the next song seamlessly, and have more thought put into the sequencing. Before the EP trend it seemed that since people were still buying individual tracks, albums were ordered with the singles strategically placed throughout the album (I’m guessing to try to get you to buy other songs along the way, or the whole album) but now that albums and songs are essentially “free”, you have to stand out as an artist by making a fully cohesive work. Album tracks are just as conveniently accessible as singles, so filling an album full of filler and a couple popular singles isn’t as good of a strategy as it used to be.

I could be completely off but that’s my thought on it.
