all right what is going on guys it is your boy tkd123 here back again here on playstation source and yes you see the length of this video this is gonna be a long one this is a genre of video or a type of video whatever you want to say it that i have been really wanting to make for a very long time i love iceberg videos i love just thinking of a random topic that i love whether it be an ip or a game or a movie or a show or whatever and then just going into iceberg videos just learning a ton of different facts about that specific ip and that is exactly what we'll be doing here with the last of us because i saw a few lots of us icebergs but you know i i just wanted to put my uh talents if you will to the iceberg game you know what i'm saying and maybe you might get another one this year we'll see because uh pretty much what happened once i got colvin and i had a lot of free time so i decided to finally do work on an iceberg video that i've always wanted to make and i figured why not start with the last of us given that we have lassos part one just around the corner so i want to give a few shout outs here and few things to just let you all know if you already know what the iceberg is podcast by playstation that takes you through the journey and making of the last of us one and the last of us two a feature stars of the game troy baker ashley johnson and laura bailey along with the writer and career director neil druckmann and co-writer haley gross it spans 12 episodes that premiered on july 3 2020 and ended on june 9 2020 of course you can check it out or you can listen to my official last ones podcast road to part one and wrote to part two that are about any and all things last of us from news lore reactions upon release our official review and spoiler cast to end off each series i'd say shameless plug but you know i have no shame stages of infection within the last of us universe the core set brain infection aka cbi more on that later is the infection that cripples society in the game it has six stages we currently know of four are featured in the original last of us game while two were introduced in the last was part two all infected follow these stages if left alive so there's a decent shot there will be more types of infected if we get to the last was part three the first stage is runners runners are people who recently turned into infected they are defined by their intense speed sluggish attacks and tendency to attack people in hordes next up is stalker stalkers are people who have been infected for somewhere between two weeks to a year per their name they stalk and hide from prey in the dark and attack at opportune moments some also latch onto walls and allow the corsets to fester keeping the host alive until prey walks by at which point the stalker breaks free and attacks the third stage is the clicker clickers are people who have been infected for at least one year the long time elapsed has allowed the fungus to spread all over their bodies blinding them and forcing them to use echolocation to find prey however the fungus has granted them enhanced strength making them fearsome foes and close quarters combat the fourth and final stage for the last of us original game is the bloater bloaters have been infected for several years the fungus has led them to become slow and blind yet incredibly strong and resilient with the fungal growth serving as armor plating blowers can also tear fungus from their bodies to use as spore bombs and throw them at their enemies however this additional fungal growth makes them vulnerable to fire the fifth stage and the first new type in the last was part two are the shamblers shamblers are people who have been infected for several years and typically inhabit areas thriving with water while not as physically enhanced as clickers or bloaters shamblers are able to grapple prey and expel large spore clouds from their bodies which cause acidic burns on the skin of prey when killed the spores explode releasing a final burst of cordyceps into the air and now the last stage of infection that we know of in the last of us universe that was first seen in the last was part 2 is the rat king the rat king is a unique stage of infected that developed in the seattle hospital after over 20 years of infection formed from several infected combining into one the rat king is colossal in strength and size and able to take extensive damage from fire bombs and guns even after taking much damage it does not die but instead its varied infected parts will start to break off from their larger mass and attack along with it outbreak day outbreak day in the game lord is september 26 2013 which marks the day that the cordyceps brain infection hit the city of austin texas it's the intro to the last of us with joel tommy and sarah as they try to leave austin amongst the chaos of people being admitted to hospitals trying to leave the city just as they are and people being infected throughout the city this also so happens to be joel's birthday which is revealed in the first few seconds of the last of us however in the real world september 26 is celebrated annually by the last of us fans on this day posters merch free psn avatars and more are given out to fans it still continues to this day however it's now referred to as the last of us day as of september 22nd 2020 in effort to be more aware and conscientious of the other infection that spread throughout the real world in 2020 being covent 19. next up seattle seattle is an extremely prominent location in the last was part 2 where the majority of the game takes place it was formerly a quarantined zone run by fedra more on them in a little bit and the u.s military by the time the game comes around the city is controlled by the washington liberation front aka the wlf or wolves once again more on them in a little bit in the iceberg while another group called the seraphites aka the scars once again more on them and a little bit as well control the surrounding area of seattle you played through six major sections of the last was part two within seattle broken up by ellie seattle's day one two and three and then for abby's day one two and three in seattle which was extremely controversial upon the release of losses part two i personally enjoyed it for how different they felt and how intertwined all the days feel but definitely understand and agree with the remarks from fans that pacing grinds to a halt when you switch to abby midway through the game the last of us tv show the last of us hbo show is an adaptation of the first game and is expected to debut sometime in 2023 some dialogue and scenes will be regulated from the game while some episodes will quote deviate greatly from the games unquote it's written by craig mason and neil druckmann with gustavo santa olaya returning to compose the score for the show as he composed the games as well for the casting we have pedro pascal as joel bella ramsay as ellie gabriel luna as tommy merle dandridge as marlene which will be returning and reprising her role from the last was one and last of us two and a tour of as tess storm reed will be playing riley nico parker will be playing sarah nick offerman will be playing bill which is a great pick by the way lamar johnson will be playing henry and kayvon woodard will be playing sam so far we have jeffrey reid also starring in the show playing a character named perry who is an original character and we still don't have castings for robert and maria although they are confirmed to be in the show as well we also have two new characters in the show that are names marlin and florence played by graham greene and elaine miles respectively and they have been described as being a quote married couple surviving alone in the wilderness of post-apocalyptic wyoming very interesting stuff there as well and this hit the best for last we have troy baker and ashley johnson a part of the tv show as well however even though they played the original joe and ellie they will not be playing joe and ellie in the hbo series however their characters are yet to be confirmed it's widely speculated that they could be playing ellie's parents with ellie's mom being named anna who's a nurse with marlene and her best friend in the game lore as well although ellie's father is unknown so that could be who troy baker is playing the last of us american dreams the last of us american dreams is a four-issue mini-series published by dark horse comics it was written by neil druckmann and lead artist faith aaron hicks it goes through the journey of ellie and rally before the events of the last of us and specifically right before the last was left behind where we see ellie and riley get bit it's a really the description to both row 2 part 2 playlist and of course the road to part 1 payless as well the cordyceps brain infection the chorus have spring infection is a parasitic fungal infection as crippled humanity in the last of us universe that's said to have originated in south central american crops according to newspapers within months roughly 60 of humanity was either killed or infected by the fungus stage one begins within two days of infection where the host loses their higher brain function making them hyper aggressive and unable to think rationally aka the runner stage stage two begins two weeks after infection where the fungus begins altering their sight as a result of the progressing fungal growth over the head and corruption of their visual cortex aka they become a stalker stage three begins one year after infection where it starts to scar their face and blind them resulting in the infected using echolocation to get a sense of where they are aka the clicker stage in very rare cases stage four happens a decade after infection where fungal plates develop over the body where you become a bloater when the fungus kills a host it develops spores around the body that can affect people as well however infection can be prevented by the use of gas masks the infection can also be spread through bites as well and dead hose cannot be infected due to the parasite needing a live host corcep's brain infection was inspired by an episode of the bbc documentary planet earth titled jungles narrated by sir david attenborough in the episode it features an infected ant being killed by whatever this uh whatever that word is i'm i'm not even gonna try to uh you know enunciate that but there you go you see it on screen as well as showing a variety of other insects and arachnids that were killed off by different species of the fungus on this scene creative director neil druckmann said quote it was all based on the idea that the more numerous a species becomes the more likely it is to be preyed on by this fungus in left behind dlc there is an example of someone trying to amputate an arm that was bitten to avoid infection this was never determined to be true because the amputee in question bled out to death although his condition did worsen day by day after the amputation so it probably wouldn't have worked rest in peace i dread talking about this on the iceberg but the last of us part two leaks and drama was incredibly stupid the game leaked on april 27 2020 and while real things came out like joel's death a false rumor spread that abby was transgender people started hating on the game for becoming too woke and it was stupid as [ __ ] not gonna lie it completely tainted the release of the game and the conversation around it and i feel like naughty dog has never fully recovered from it it was a real bummer we covered it on road to part two link in the description and it's crazy because the last of us won remake also got leaked as well it's just insane man leaks suck and especially on this entry the whole debacle around people spreading the false rumors and thinking that abby was transgender just because she was buff was absolutely insane and really made me a shame to even be a fan and even associate with the last of us and playstation as a whole completely was just a really bad time in the fandom fedra fedra stands for federal disaster response agency that's an antagonistic faction in the last of us they're an amalgamation with the us military as the ruling authorities of the quarantined zones that tried to contain the virus you never directly combat fedra really but they are seen as soldiers and drafted civilian workers they are one of the last remnants of the pre-operative u.s government along with the department of defense and the center for disease control fedra mimics the real world agency fema which stands for federal emergency management agency wlf wlf stands for washington liberation front or informally called wolves they are a military organization and a major antagonist in the labs was part 2 that control seattle they waged war with the seraphites over seattle throughout the event of lapses part 2 and prior to it a major part of last week's 2 is that abby herself is a wlf member and struggles with her place among them after befriending sarah fights levin yara they are led by isaac dixon and used dogs as well which you kill a lot of in the lapses part 2. wlf also has a lot to do with the seven deadly sins but more on that later in the iceberg the serophites the seraphites also often referred to as scars by wlf members and the last was part 2 are a primitivist cult and an antagonistic faction in the last of us part 2. they are also at war with the wlf over control of seattle contrasting with the gun reliant wlf the seraphites rely on silent stealth weapons like melee weapons and bow and arrows although some can be seen with rifles shotguns and handguns in rare cases given their lack of equipment they prefer to blend with the environment and fight stealthily which can be truly terrifying in las was part two we'll talk more about the belief system of the serophites later on but their code of beliefs derived from the prophet who was their leader and they believe that the civilized world is to blame for the infection thus choosing to live amongst and in line with nature itself the fireflies the fireflies were a revolutionary militia group featured as an antagonist group in the last was part 1 and last was part 2 led by marlene they revolted against the military oppression from fedra in quarantine zones and intended to restore governmental control however they also worked towards finding a cure for the cbi and were spread out across the country although their main headquarters was at st mary's hospital in salt lake city where the last was one ends after the death of the group's only surgeon by joel during the end of the last was part 1 the group voted to disband and end operations however a small group of ex-fireflies have begun work on reestablishing the organization in the catalina islands stated in the last was part 2's outro [Music] the last of us one night live the last of us one night live was a single musical by naughty dog based off the story of the last of us it was held in san diego on july 28 2014 it was directed by neil druckmann with gustavo santa olaya to provide the game's score for some sections although it was from one night only they featured an alternate version of the last of us's ending that had interesting changes to say the least druckman said it was meant to be a way of quote saying goodbye to joel and ellie the alternate ending features a conversation with ellie that reveals that after the game's original ending they would end up at tommy's damn with tensions that ellie knows that joel lied to her tommy also set up joel with a woman named esther in this ending too and the scene ends with joel playing guitar and singing the last of us two's famous future days this scene got tweaked and changed to be featured at the beginning of the last part 2 as a prologue and removed joel's love interest esther it's just really cool to see how future days was so integral and important to lots was part two and it all started back in 2014 with one night live insane one last totally here it was said that esther joel's love interest was removed from this scene and removed entirely because it just did not keep the focus on joe and ellie in the scene when they were of course the two focal points of the scene so they took out esther and she was nowhere to be seen or heard of in the last was part two the rest of the world the rest of the world is a pretty big topic so the rest of the world entry is about references to events outside the us that happened in the last of us in the first game there's a few references to canada for example joel can find artifacts like the shipping manifest that mentions canadian bison meat joel can also find tessa's manifest which references the smuggling of canadian whiskey there's also a newspaper clipping which tells us that about 60 percent of the world population is dead or infected outside of artifacts there's some clues that can be seen in game as well there's a newspaper in the prologue that sarah can find which says that the infection was spread by infected crops from south and central america then there's promotional artwork as well there's artwork of a newspaper clipping which says that england declares martial law there's a really cool video from the ipad chat on youtube that goes over what happened to the rest of the world as well link below in the description in that video there's really cool like before and after images of really big cities across the world super cool video definitely go check it out link below in the description cut the last of us part two dlc dlc was reportedly planned according to jason troyer of bloomberg however it's been shelved and may happen in the future my guess is that it would probably be for alaska's part 2 director's cut for ps5 but my dlc idea that i've had for the longest is tommy dlc for the seattle days one two and three there's a lot of time there that's unaccounted for on tommy's end and could give us more jesse as well since he separates from ellie to help tommy it could really work i think it'd be super cool to to intertwine ellie and abby and tommy's seattle days all together with this dlc could be super cool what do you guys think about it oh i also dread this iceberg entry let's talk about david david is an antagonist ellie encounters in the last of us when joel gets critically injured and ellie has to go out and search of food and supplies to keep joe alive he's the leader of a cannibalistic group of survivors and is played by the great nolan north which killed this performance as david you can barely tell it's him this character creeped me out and there's even easy to see subtle tones that david may want to do more than just eat ellie no i'm not gonna go into detail with that y'all can just play the game and y'all probably know what i'm talking about from that standpoint but yeah it's pretty gross david really creepy guy in the last of us where are dina and jj when ellie returned from santa barbara she would turn into an empty home with dina making good on her claims that she would leave her if she kept trying to seek revenge against abby there's a few theories being that they're dead which could i guess be true but probably not since ellie's stuff and the house itself is packed up seems like an intentional leaving process but where could they have gone likely back to jackson with maria and the rest of the people there i'm sure they'd welcome her back with open arms especially since jj is technically one of jackson's own with the father being jesse of course my guess is jackson but what do you guys think down below where do you think dina and jj are could they have gone to i don't know literally anywhere but jackson i guess maybe the catalina island maybe they heard about the fireflies what do you guys think down below where are dina and jj the ghost ship the ghost ship is location and the last was part two when you're playing as abby it's an abandoned passenger ship that was sailing to vancouver some people got sick so they were put in a quarantined area but due to this happening soon after the outbreak day some other passengers thought they were infected and so they took matters into their own hands and killed all the sick passengers there's a great video that voice acts the whole story from video games to fostering that y'all should definitely go check out link below in the description why is ellie immune why is ellie immune is derived from a theory that starts at the letter her mother anna left for her you can find said leather in ellie's backpack in the first game and it sums up that ellie was not even a day old when the letter was written and that her mother anna was dying as she was writing this letter the theory is that anna was bit shortly before giving birth to ellie which enabled the bite infection to act as a vaccine of sorts to make ellie immune it definitely makes sense and if ashley johnson is playing anna in the hbo show i'd be eager to see if this theory becomes a reality i mean to go a step further on the actual written letter you can see that there is blood and there's like bloody handprints and smudges all over this thing so definitely anna was in some sort of bloody state as she was writing this so maybe that is blood straight up from the bite that anna got who knows fan films fan films for the last of us are a lot more popular than i ever thought they would be extinction she is one of a kind well she's the last of the american girls and quote she will come in first for the end of western civilization she's a natural disaster she's the last of the american girls definitely makes sense that this song is here on the iceberg and it's pretty cool since this song came out in 2010 can neil druckmann have been a green day fan perhaps uh yes it's about time for this entry shall we ladies and gentlemen crash bandicoot references in the last of us part two they went wild and they are completely not safe for work in the last was part two i'm gonna roll the clip and y'all could enjoy this uh but definitely fair warning if you are playing this at work if you're with the family this is not safe for work content right here uh whoa whoa you know call it pg-13 [Music] hey he's got that videotape thing huh dong of the wolf smash brandy's cooch are these it's porn interesting taste eugene [Music] the surgeon's recorder the surgeon's recorder is an artifact in the original game that can be found in the firefly lab the content of the particular recorder sheds some light on joel's story aka the lie to ellie in the game's epilogue the surgeon mentions past cases which essentially means that they have experimented on other people who were infected but also immune yet unable to find the cure however the recorder notes that la's immunity may be the key to creating a vaccine although to use ellie to find the cure would mean that they had to do an autopsy and essentially kill ellie in the process to eventually hopefully find a vaccine okay this next entry is super cool days gone is the last of us prototype days gone as alaska's prototype is in reference to the fact that days gone has some assets and scripted sequences from the last of us and the last was part two leading some to theorize that days gone served as a prototype for the last was part two this cool breakdown by friako made a video looking into the files of the game and it's pretty convincing i gotta say so myself link below in the description if you want to watch i highly recommend it the connection definitely does make sense if you take into account that sony bend made an uncharted game and maybe through that partnership naughty dog gave them some beginning code or beginning starting places to eventually code the freakers in days gone also speaking of down below let me abandoned qz's refers to most quarantined zones becoming abandoned over time either due to lack of resources or due to uprisings examples include the hartford qse pittsburgh qz which was abandoned and then taken over by hunters and the seattle zone which was abandoned and then taken over by the wlf ellie is not immune ellie is not immune has gained traction in a few ways a rather thread from yuzi monte says that she could just be getting infected incredibly slow since she got bit and left behind and that she'll eventually turn he uses her choices in the last of us part two and how they seemed increasingly and increasingly radical as the game went on we thought she was bonded by rage but hey maybe she's becoming increasingly more and more infected the exact same day the game theorists put out a video saying that ellie has a different type of cordyceps that also uses her behavior in the last ones part 2 to support it link in the description below to the game theorist video but it's an interesting theory not sure how i feel about either of these am i being honest with you guys i feel like it's neat that there is a certain section of the population that are randomly immune but who knows maybe we'll get to see more contacts in the last was part three ellie scar ellie scar doesn't have too much on the matter online other than neil druckmann in an interview saying that it's remaining a secret as to how she got the scar but she did get it long before the events of american dreams left behind and the original last of us hope we get to know how ellie got those scars no no that was bad that was bad okay we're gonna move on but okay you know what if you wanna leave a dislike button leave a dislike if if if you know that was not okay i'll see you on the next one the last of us and uncharted are in the same universe has been a pretty common theory but it probably refers to how a newspaper in uncharted 3 says scientists are still struggling to understand deadly fungus this was actually an easter egg an artist put and forgot to take out when the charter 3 came out they were so afraid that people would find it but decided to leave it in and keep quiet the other half of this theory stems from the last was part two where in seattle you can find nathan drake's sick parvis magnaring in the bank if you didn't know it means greatness from small beginnings i highly doubt these universes are actually in the same universe and they're just not so other naughty dog games but hey who knows man who knows we have some other entries in this iceberg that perhaps gives some support to this theory so we'll have to see as we get deeper and deeper into the iceberg joel and tess were dating is something that's been long inferred with quotes like this ain't been out here in a while it's like we're on a date well i am the romantic type you got your ways and this one you've got to get this girl the tommy's he used to run with this crew he'll know where to go no no no that was your crusade i am not doing that yes you are look there's enough here that you have to feel some sort of obligation to me so you get her to tommy's i definitely think they had something but i doubt it was a formal relationship perhaps you know i'm saying little friends with benefits action you know i'm saying a little a little uh you know you give me your ration and then i give you a you know what i'm saying let me just keep this video pg but y'all get the jizz maybe it was a little friends with benefits type dynamic [Music] the story of ish ish has a story that takes place in the pittsburgh sewers on notes that he wrote that were left behind in the original last of us when the outbreak started he took to sea for a few months before crashing on the coast of pittsburgh sewers where you play during the game's events ish takes refuge in the sewers and finds a family in the nearby suburbs the family along with their kids join ish to live within the sewers and even establish a school as well eventually their luck runs out in the effort to steer clear of the infected and only ish and a handful of the initial group make it out as far as we know it's a great story that i also summed up on my road to part 2 series check it out in the link down below in the description but i would love to see a future where we eventually see ish or figure out what exactly happened to him in this group because you know there was a huge thing where a lot of them died in the sewers and we don't know what happened to ish and the few survivors that he was able to save so hopefully they're in the lapses part three even if they're just in notes i will even take that but we'll have to see when the lapses part three comes out why did tommy and joel split is not known but we do have this cut scene that gives us the most context we'll ever get as of now tommy i need this you want some gear sure but i ain't taking that girl off your hands this is how you gonna repay me huh repay you for all those goddamn years i took care of us took care that's what you call it i got nothing but nightmares from those years you survived because of me it wasn't worth it i bring you the cure from mankind and you want to play the pissy little brother we ain't back in boston you lay your hands on me again it won't end well for you we could likely infer that joel made tommy kill innocent people or other horrible things since joel constantly insinuates to ellie that he used to do horrible things to survive in a very similar way to the bandits on the highway that faked that one of them was injured to get joel and ellie to stop the vehicle but i want to end this entry with the prospect of perhaps telling this backstory in my hypothetical tommy dlc idea we see his journey through seattle day one two and three like i said before but what if we have flashbacks of joel and tommy during that 20-year gap that show what joel put tommy through it can also give us one more go at being joel in the games it could really work and make the dlc itself have a kind of two-part nature to it as the laptop's part 2 does not shy away from of course being a very much two-part game as well as have flashbacks sprinkled in between the actual gameplay developer cameos developer cameos can be heard after the attack on terrified island when abby returned to the theater to kill ellie neil dragon and haley gross are the voices on the radio as heard here [Music] jesus christ what the [ __ ] was the backup what's your location who's with you already echo you're breaking up what is your location [Music] also another cool one that is not really related to the games but ashley johnson was in the first avengers movie which is pretty cool the rattlers the rattlers are a militaristic gang of slavers based in santa barbara california who serve as the final antagonistic faction ellie williams and abby anderson encounter and the last was part two they utilize slave work and even sometimes chained up slaves and intentionally infect them for entertainment they're pretty horrible to say the least and one of them knocks lev the [ __ ] out and i mean yo like listen like i'm not saying that i laughed at this which because like yo if i'm being real this is not funny right like like this is not a funny clip inherently but the way this man just completely knocks lev out is just like insanity watch the clip right here ellie's tattoo ellie's tattoo is significant for a few reasons for one it covers her bite mark she got from left behind although it said before she got the tattoo that she intentionally chemical burned her skin to try and smooth it out and hide it as well naughty dog landed on her getting a tattoo representing a moth and a fern to match the themes of the game and ellie's journey that like ellie reaching for the fireflies a moth seeks light as well it's also meant to represent the events of the first game and the memory of the time joel and her had as they themselves were reaching the fireflies another cool touch is that ellie also has a moth printed on her guitar that joel gives her ellie really is a moth in a lot of ways just trying to reach the light joel's planned death joel's planned death was actually told in an episode of the official last was podcast i said before earlier in the iceberg where neil druckmann said that during the final days of production on the last of us and scripting had begun for left behind dlc they were thinking about the future of the story and he says this quote in my mind joel's arc was pretty much done i didn't know where else to take that character but ellie there was it felt at least at the time it was going to be right for all these other stories at the same time i started thinking of stories for the next game a lot of them were plot driven like what's a cool situation to put ellie in oh what if she heard someone else's immune and she's going to go on this journey to find this other person that's immune it felt interesting from a plot standpoint interesting twists and turns you can do all that fan service joel is going to chase her and now they're going to be teamed up together and the lie is going to come up into play because of what she's after but it felt like it was missing the thing that i think was successful in the first game which was the emotional heart this very simple universal concept of love can we make you feel that unconditional love a parent feels for their child without that it could be an exciting story but it won't capture that emotional resonance that the first game had i left that for a while and came back to it with the content of hate of this very universal feeling that all people experience which is just deep hate where in your mind you're willing to commit horrible acts of violence against another human being how far would my mind go down this downward spiral and is there any coming back from that so joel's death was planned essentially almost a decade ago at this point to tell a story of hatred and how one could possibly come back from that to me that's very interesting and very risky at the same time because you know there's a lot of quotes that neil druckmann had leading up to last was part two where he described the last was part one as a story of love and this part two story would be a story of hate and this definitely does give context to that mind and thought process which is very cool in my opinion i really love lots of part two story but that's just me i know a lot of people didn't vibe with it but uh you know it is what it is the last was part two is banned in united arab emirates for a pretty straightforward reason as the game got closer to release multiple countries in the middle east noticed that the game wasn't listed in their country's playstation store already the user got a hold of planation support in their country and they said that any game that does not appear in the original store has been quote banned by the competent authorities of the country and we cannot do anything regarding that likely the reason why the largest part 2 is banned in the united arab emirates is that it is illegal to be gay in those countries so they didn't want a game to release in the country where the star protagonist is a gay character yeah that's you know definitely not cool but you know that's how it is over there joel is the villain joel being the villain is also pretty straightforward he attenuated he's done horrible things in the 20 years with tommy before the game we see him violently torture a man during the winter section of the last of us to get david and ellie's location and above all else he denies humanity a potential cure to save ellie's life among a long list of things this is honestly one of my favorite things to debate about the last of us and how people perceive joel because it's very interesting to see how different people really come out with different takes about joel himself you know for me personally i'm more on the lines of you know hey i really do kind of underline and empathize and at least understand joel's perspective on going close with ellie and not wanting a little girl to die to get a cure and granted yes that does mean that you know the rest of humanity is still doomed and it's still a doom and gloom apocalypse right but i can at least sign kind of understand that but at the end of the day you know i bet a lot of you will say that joel is a bad person but then when you're put with this specific scenario in front of you would you make the same decision or would you make a different decision let me know your thoughts on the comments below is joel a villain in the last of us the fireflies are the villains the fireflies being the villains in the last of us is actually a theory that kinda sort of makes a little bit of sense here the military that controls the quarantine zones tests for infections and control food supplies are seen as evil in the game but they're actually acting in somewhat of a similar way law enforcement would probably handle a major city trying to contain a virus the fireflies constantly wage attacks on them ambush them for their know cure humanity but at the same time you know when you look at some of the fedra agents and the beginning of the last of us they are being pretty brutal and everything but you know i get that their fighting against the infected gradually swayed them to look up to her in time her charismatic sermons captured the minds of the community's residents convincing them that the infection was caused by humanity's own sin and served as a second chance for humanity to redeem itself inspired the residents chose to face the infected alone closing off the community from the wider world in the meantime the prophet had the community grow their own food to secure their independence they fought the infected without guns because the prophet deemed them a part of the quote old world and quote nested with sin eventually the community universally referred to her as the prophet she made a prayer for them all to follow and formally made them into seraphides and of course they continue on even after the prophet's death in praising her honoring her and following her teachings that she taught the seraphites manny is neil druckmann a lot of people thought that manny from las vegas 2 looked like neil druckmann when neil druckmann took the twitter to squash all these rumors by saying quote look i know y'all think i'm handsome but i'm not quite as handsome or talented as alejo edda who i think played mandy obviously who brought minnie to life missy brother so yeah i get the resemblance i get the man bun phase of neil druckmann and everything but no neil druckmann was not manny that was a whole different actor riley's death riley's death derives off the question of what actually happened to riley yes we see her get bit in the last was left behind but does she eventually turn does she kill herself does ellie kill her we never actually learn of her fate besides that she got bit and then she died but what's the in between it's a very intriguing question but you know she probably uh you know i mean obviously who knows what do you think like do you think that ellie killed her do you think that she eventually turned and maybe she's still roaming in that mall or the more grim outcome did riley you know kill herself as she was losing her mind what are your thoughts aly killing abby ellie killing abby was the original plan for the ending and was the plan up until halfway through production they decided to have ellie let go and not go through with it in the end so that it can show the little humanity ellie still had the old ellie was still in there the old ellie meaning that ellie with humanity the ellie that is impacted by joel still exists within the version of her that's so overtaken with revenge neil druckmann made the call saying quote letting abby live felt wrong thematically initially but at the end of the day it felt more honest for the character the theme and what we're trying to say shifted a little bit but our top priority always is are we being honest to the character there are certain things we are trying to hit but they can only work if we're consistent with the character we're writing and to me you know that pretty much makes sense to me like it is actually pretty shocking that the original plan for this game was to have ellie actually kill abby because you know i wouldn't i would definitely agree with neil neil druckmann here obviously i'm not the creator of last of us neil druckmann is but i would have never thought that it would have made sense for ellie to actually go on and kill abby right like that just never felt like it would make sense to me and i know a lot of people disagree with that and feel that ellie's journey was completely pointless but i feel like they missed the second half of that where this journey was about ellie understanding the essence of forgiveness and that she was able to bring herself to a place where she was able to start the healing and forgiveness process of forgiving joel for what he did to her and how he lied to her then ellie can also extend this forgiveness as well towards abby that was just my whole read of it and i figured that be the overall kind of theme and point of it but really cool to see that they eventually shifted to that tone to make ellie's actions more in line with what ellie would actually do based off the first game ally is contagious ellie being contagious is stemmed off of a part during her time with david in the original game i warned you i'm infected i'm infected really so are you right there roll up my sleeve look at it i'll play along what you say everything happens for a reason right what the hell is that she would have turned by now it can't be real looks pretty [ __ ] real to me [Music] the common answer and what i believe to be true as well was that she used this to throw david off since he was about to literally fillet her but to dive deeper i don't think she is contagious because we see her ending the kiss constantly has a happy ending the aspect of ellie having a happy ending is actually based off of the interesting detail that i hadn't seen in the last of us two when ellie is telling dina that she's going to search for abby she's not wearing her hamsa bracelet however when she returns she's clearly wearing it on top of that people have cited that due to her not having her weapons and her wounds healing she could have stopped to see dina and jj at jackson if that's where they are i get this but man i just don't know the wounds could have healed during her journey back to the farm and the weapons could be somewhere nearby i have no clue on that but most importantly is that dina was hurt by her leaving i feel like she wouldn't let ellie back in with open arms ellie leaving her to go back for abby was a huge betrayal although maybe ellie coming clean with her admitting that she didn't kill abby and she let it go possibly they've patched things up in jackson and ellie just went back to the house to say goodbye to her guitar which is also in turn her saying goodbye to joel what do you guys think i'm still very much on the fence about it honestly i think that dina is still very much upset at ellie because you know she seemed very much like yo if you leave right now like i'm done with you like that was just my interpretation but who knows the infected are conscious the infected are conscious is actually pretty disturbing this time some infected although typically runners that can be heard sobbing this is due to them being early in their infection and the virus start to take over they are still conscious as the infection slowly takes control over them as we learned earlier in the iceberg but it is really creeping hearing them scream and cry like humans because there is a human under that infection the elders the elders were amongst the highest if not the highest in accordance to the hierarchy of the seraphites after the prophet's death the elders assumed control over the seraphites and carried on the war against the wlf in her absence elders led the group and assigned the members their roles in the community with some decreed as soldiers and others into pre-arranged marriages the bethroath must receive permission from the elders before having children elders also hold special privileges including top priority in gathered food joel is immune so throughout the game joel gets in pretty close contact with the infected for example he breathes and spores thrown by the bloaters which should cause him to turn despite that he never does so therefore he must be immune think about it the surgeon's recorded seems a hint at the existence of other immune people so perhaps joel is one of them well well what was one of them um because you know if y'all you know play dumb i guess we'll never know giraffe symbolism in the last of us giraffes are often associated with children and innocents for example in the pittsburgh sewers the player can find drawings of giraffes by children that listen yo i looked up down and around the internet i could not find this for the life of me but i guess there are drawings by children of giraffes i think maybe this is referring to like on the walls in the sewers of ish's group that's my guess but i could not find a picture of it but they are also seen in salt lake city where ellie encounters giraffes on top of all of that sarah also has a stuffed giraffe on her bed as well in the intro to the game boris legisov boris legislative was a story found by letters and artifacts in seattle during the last of us part two he was a world-class archer and helped fend off his part of seattle by using his bow he was well loved by the community and presented those in need he was even called the clicker killer as the wlf takes over the town of hillcrest after winning the territory of seattle they're met with resistance by the community as they were once ruled by fedra and don't want to be ruled by another organization the community looks to boards for leadership and answers boris's daughter sophia was killed due to her defiant ways against the wlf which causes families to be scared of the wlf and fall in line with their ruling all except for boris boris goes on a massive killing spree with his bow against the wlf and the families of hillcrest that once stood with him stand against him out of fear that the wlf will kill them all just as they killed sophia so boris infects the neighbors that wouldn't stand with him against the wlf and locks them in a garage so that they could all turn infected together in the garage in his efforts to get the infected neighbors in the garage one bites and affects him as well this ends up being the stalker ellie fights and gets his bow from so the stalker that ellie 1v1s in that garage is boris legosaur from the trail of letters and artifacts that is such a cool detail and insane that boris want to exact revenge against the wlf using his bow and ellie will be able to use that very same bow to seek out the deaths of the wlf and what boris was initially going to do ellie has a brain tumor ellie having a brain tumor is a theory that attempts to explain ellie's change in behavior in the last was part two in the first last of us ellie is kind and caring however in lapses part two she has become increasingly violent reckless angry and cruel such a drastic change in behavior could indicate the presence of a brain tumor although it is true that brain tumors can cause aggression she was probably filled with anger since she saw the only father figure get his head smashed in by a golf club but you know i guess it could be a brain tumor the true faith dispute the true faith dispute was based off of ellie singing a song called true faith in the cgi trailer released in june 2020 for the last was part two the thing is the specific version of true faith that ellie was singing was a direct replica of another cover made 10 years ago from lady kestner she tweeted in essentially a tweet quote hey are you aware that the true faith cover you put in your last of us 2 trailer is a replica of my cover that came out 10 years ago i wrote original parts not in the original song that are copied exactly by whoever covered it which was ashley johnson i am heartbroken this prompted neil and nollie dog to tweet this out quote ellie's rendition of true faith was inspired by lady kessner's haunting cover of the song due to an oversight on our end she wasn't credited as intended our deep apologies we are rectifying this as soon as possible we hope that lot kestner receives the recognition she deserves and after that it was pretty much all ironed out as loli tweeted this quote so proud this music has found the home and such an amazing project thanks to neil naughty dog and everyone at sony so all is good on that front infected animals infected animals are nowhere to be seen in the last of us there's some speculation on the wiki fandom that the cbi is attracted to the complexity of humans and their molecular structure thus making us better hosts instead of animals but i have no idea would you want to see infected animals in the last of us like i feel like this is going to be something that may be in the lapses part 3 as another evolution of the cbi like as it evolves into what it makes humans right from like bloater to clicker to you know etc shambler right maybe it'll again start to mutate and go into animals that's my thought that they could probably do but let me know down below would you want to see animals in the last of us be infected everyone is infected is based off of a pretty out there theory but kind of does sort of make sense right so when you're sneaking around enemies are often unable to spot you when they really should this implies a lack of peripheral vision which is a sign of being infected since the disease is airborne and with many people having close contact with the infected it becomes hard to believe that most people are not infected already though in reality it's probably simply due to an oversight in game development but for my own little personal like theory right i thought that this entry was referring to the concept of the walking dead where everyone in the walking dead is infected and when you die you have natural causes you will inevitably turn into a zombie in that universe right so i thought maybe it would be a similar thing here where if you were to die of natural causes or just die in like a non-gruesome way where your body is still intact you will also become infected and become you know a stalker a runner upload or whatever uh upon death that was my thought but what do you think down below in the comment section do you think that everyone's affected in the last of us something really bad happened with that right so i'm thinking either like a very nasty divorce if we're keeping that kind of pg or maybe she died during childbirth or something like that but i feel like there's definitely something really negative with that topic joel hates humanity according to this theory joel has seen the absolute worst of humanity his own daughter was killed in front of him he's lived 20 years into the apocalypse and counting and everything he's had to endure do and witness since outbreak day therefore he came to resent humanity this is evident when he decided to end humanity's one last hope of a cure in the eyes of joel miller humanity doesn't deserve to be saved at all very interesting theory and definitely something that like i honestly would not rule out joel planned film of the last of us that started development around 2014 however for some reason it entered development hell and it was ultimately cancelled it was meant to be distributed by screen gems written by neil druckmann directed by sam raimi and also be based off of the game's storyline as well it sounds like this project got new life as a series with hbo although a lot of us movie with sam raimi's horror style would have been pretty interesting to see although probably wouldn't have fit the tone what do you guys think like do you guys think sam raimi's horror style tone would have been pharmacy was a pharmacy and left behind that was then featured in the prescription bottle and uncharted 4 which was then featured in the last was part 2. it also has a twitter account that last fireflies created ellie's immunity this theory is that the fireflies ran vaccine tests on monkeys 15 years before the start of the game and what if one of their subjects was ellie's mom to test on a human a video from rio hemzy on youtube has a lot of really good information and i highly recommend it it makes a lot of sense when you really listen to what he has to say and we could very well see this come to reality in the hbo show i'm being honest here i was really convinced by this video link below in the description it's a really good watch and i think it does make sense because they do confirm that they were talking about doing vaccine tests at the actual university in the last of us and there's a bunch of monkeys around of course as we all know that could be what they use to test prior vaccine tests on the monkeys at the university it all really does make a lot of sense if you could watch the video once again link below in the description tess was the original villain this was based off of an original script for the last of us that had joel portraying tests causing tess to go on the mission to pursue him across the country according to neil druckmann the storyline never worked out and instead we had tests be the motivating factor for joel to take ellie across the country instead neil dropping further explained in these quotes here quote we had a tough time understanding why joel would take this journey we weren't buying it we also had a hard time buying that test would go on a vendetta we could understand her pursuing joe a little bit but why would she go for a year around the country those things were solved by saying that tess is going to die when she gets bitten but her dying wish to joel is to do this one good thing help me do this one good thing so my soul can rest because i've done all these horrible things there's even really cool concept art of the storyline where tess is pressing a knife against joel's throat it's pretty neat and i think it would be really cool to see this you know if there's any leftover cut scenes i doubt it right but like it's a really cool concept to have tess going after joel the last of us and the girl with all the gifts are in the same universe this is based off of the fact that a character from mr carries the girl with all the gifts is eerily similar to the last of us it takes place 20 years after a zombie apocalypse caused by a mutated strain of cordyceps the main character is a girl who is infected but immune along with scientists wanting to cut her brain open to create a cure for humanity there's plenty of overlap but the actual plot of the story is different and the book was likely written before the game was even announced so no plagiarism seems to be afoot here but it is a weird coincidence to say the least there was even a movie released in 2015 that's based off of the book itself so it might be a cool um watch to see if you know this is kind of the last of us movie that we never got in a spiritual success reform based off this book [Music] the cbi infection was created this refers to a reddit post suggesting that the lethality and the precision that the cbi has against humans couldn't have been created in nature other fungus that affects humans like athlete's foot are relatively harmless as opposed to the cbi the theory suggests that a government bioterrorism group or doomsday cult could have created the cbi that leaked into the crops in south and central america maybe the scientists were trying to affect crops and created the deadly infection who knows the last of us is about a scb breach this refers to if the cbi virus was created and released whether intentionally or not by the special containment procedures or scp for short this will explain how the infection suddenly started and how the authorities were able to mount a rapid response to it which in fairness they already had cool handheld devices that could already detect if you have cbi or not and an agency like fedra already in place to establish quarantine zones it seems like that would take a lot of coordination and effort what do you guys think i don't know this one this one i'm kind of speculation that somehow to go even further than sarah and ellie being related they're apparently the same person that sarah's soul lives on within ellie in some divine manifestation it's a way to possible that nathan drake unintentionally unleashed cbi while exploring an ancient ruin i mean think about it nathan drake did find el dorado shambhala and discovered the imran of the pillars i say it's at least possible and you can't believe one without the other so guys let me know did nathan drake cause cbi yup this this end bit of this iceberg is is is some of the best stuff okay this is the best stuff right justin bieber cause cbi this is a joke theory that argues that since there is a newspaper article about justin bieber starring in uncharted 13 and apparently the movie was so bad it caused the apocalypse i love this and i had no idea also uh that this was in the original game until making this iceberg that's an insane find no idea that was a thing but uh you know what i think it's true i think i think that this one's actually true justin bieber cause cbi you heard it here first all right got the little clap this is the 69th entry of the iceberg nice original infected concept art is actually pretty fascinating to look at for one it shows a scrapped big infected boss that seems to look like a flower monster type of infected it was likely another stage of infection that was scrapped but it looks super cool to say the least but when you look deeper into this infected it looks like it has multiple sets of legs so maybe this was an early concept of the rat king we eventually got in the last was part two another piece of concept art depicts infected with weapons it seems that this was going to be another way that they would attack the player which would have been very scary and very terrifying and lastly we have just a cool design of an infected infiltrating tommy's dam at jackson these seemingly glowing red pinkish spikes things on disinfectant here at tommy's damn also looks really cool and really dope i would have loved to have seen this in the original game oh man this this second to the last one is a lot to take in all right and this is not a joke this is for real originally only women got cbi yeah you heard that right the concept was when the game was called mankind and we even have content art that shows some of the female only infected as well that was going to be in what was known as mankind but would eventually turn into the last of us as to what happened with the storyline i'll let a 2013 speech from neil druckmann do the talking quote the reason it failed is because it was a misogynistic idea a lot of the female workers at naughty dog came up and said quote i don't like this idea i understand what you're trying to do it is ultimately a story about the love of a girl but the way it's coming off is you're having a bunch of women turn into monsters and you're shooting them in the face yeah i agree this would have been absolutely horrible like this this would have definitely not flown in today's age and i doubt it would have flown honestly in 2013 if i'm being real with you like this is just an insane concept and i'm very glad that this was just a short-lived uh idea at least at the walls and halls of naughty dog and this never actually got made but we do have content art to uh you know reminisce on this really bad idea if you want to look at that we have arrived at the last entry of the iceberg ellie didn't want to kill abby this interpretation of the ending of last part 2 claims that ellie had no intention to kill abby the second time since ellie and tommy killed all of abby's friends she already got revenge if ellie really wanted to kill abby she could have just shot her when she was tied up instead she cut down abby and fought her with a knife and her fist she realized that if she actually killed abby it would not change anything i don't hate this interpretation to be honest and there's no doubt that through ellie recalling her steps to start to forgive joel for what he had done to her in turn that showed her that she's capable of forgiveness and that she could forgive abby in the end while i ultimately think that ellie cut down abby to simply have a fair fight i suppose i do believe that in the end she didn't want to kill abby because well she doesn't go through with it what
