brought us a great word this is our church and we want to share it with you in fact our campaign for this month is our church can be your church we want to take you on a journey through our ministries we want to take you through the facility the campus and show you how there's so many different things for so many different ages here but most of all we believe that your life your kids lives your family's life can be changed here at first apostolic church our church can become your church like never before i want to see the gifts of the spirit of operation i want to see miracle signs and wonders he's still a healer he's still a deliverer he can still sober up the alcoholic and he can still deliver the heroin addict he can still oh yes friend and i'm marching in to my 41st day global grounds coffee shop plays a huge part in our church being able to give over half a million dollars to missions every year our kids quest ministry not only has a blast every sunday but we learn biblical truths and biblical character at a very young age strong tower student ministries and hyphen young adult is all about being together every single week there's an opportunity for you to grow not only in relationships but to grow spiritually as well no matter your age and no matter your need we believe that our church can change your life because we've seen it happen so many times at our church we've seen marriages put back together we've seen the depressed and the addicted live free lives we've seen the sick leave healed and we believe today that you can be changed here at our church opportunity that in my estimation is the greatest privilege and opportunity that we the children of god have and that's the opportunity to pray to be able to call out upon god tell a god all about our needs tell god all about our troubles when we don't know what to do he's one that we can tell him god would you help lead the way god i don't know the next step to take the next turn god would you help me tonight i want you to listen very closely let's please remember a first lady in prayer um she is uh we have got her blood pressure down just a little bit but she is still not in what we would refer to as a safe zone so let's please lift up first lady tonight in prayer please let's pray for sister tracy hurst family tracy's father charlie passed away a few days ago and we had his service let's remember that family as they continue to grieve please remember to pray for elder brother orr as he has went to be with the family of his brother in illinois and his brother had passed away and let's please pray for hands or family tonight sister lawless is in need of a touch from the lord i am very very thankful that brother tim mori he suffered a heart attack but thank god they caught it in time and put a few stents in and he was here at church with us this morning and i do i do thank the lord for that please pray for joe sutton this is brother and sister sutton's son lives in texas his health is failing he needs a touch from god upon his body and then sister rhonda carpenter uh one of her dear friends mary many of you know remember mary would come to church we baptized mary and friday right before the marriage retreat we got word that they had found mary dead and so please pray for all of those that loved mary and just pray for that family tonight if you have a prayer request in the presence of almighty god tonight it is a symbol of your faith it is as if you're a student in a classroom and you want the teacher's attention you would raise your hand and in the presence of god denied and his holy angels if you have a need would you just make your hand would just lift your hand to those of you that are watching online tonight would you just go ahead and lift as we have requested god and ask you to lord whatever is causing the blood pressure despite god i pray tonight that your healing angels would be upon my help mate lord father i pray for all of the needs that have been represented in this house i pray for the names i pray for the names that are scrolling across the screen lord i ask you lord to look down from heaven upon the names that are scrolling across the screen tonight father i pray that you would reach out and touch every hand that was lifted tonight oh god we need you lord god you you're our anchor in the time of our storm you're our great physician in the time of our sickness you're the captain of our salvation lord in the time of the battle lord jesus tonight walk the aisles of this church lord i pray for dr hughes tonight god i ask you to use this man of god as never before lord i pray tonight that you would anoint him and use him god lord let your word lord just come forth in boldness let your word god in its creative power lord god help people to see in darkness they can come to life lord may the enemy lose souls tonight may the enemy lose souls tonight lord the enemy that has deceived minds lord may men and women be placed in their right mind tonight lord let your spirit come down upon this place and reveal the deception that we have been led to believe oh holy god from heaven i ask all of these praise right now could you give him a hand i got a special announcement to make i believe it was on thursday before our marriage retreat started on friday but sevier county lifted the mass mandate they they lifted the mass day and i want to follow suit now we're going to maintain a masked section over here to my right which would be your left we're going to maintain that mass section but what i am going to lift tonight is i'm going to lift the band on all the sections of the just this section go in this moment that section go in that moment i'm going to go ahead and lift that band tonight so all sections march out the right side of your pew back in on the opposite side when the pew in front of you empties that will be your sign to come now let me tell you about offering let me tell you about offering offering is this way god is not looking at what's in your hand [Music] he's looking at what's in your heart now you might the only thing you may have to bring up here and put in the offering container is pocket fuzz but you know what i believe that it in your heart if in your heart you were saying if i had some money i'd give it if i had some money i'd give it tonight i believe that as far as god sees you walking down the aisle i believe god sees you walking down the aisle with an offering with an offering in your hand do you know there is no greater work there is no greater work that you could be involved in like financing the work of god financing the work of god right now we're in the preliminary stages brother uh schnitzer has been in a zoom teaching uh conference with a group of men and women in africa and i mean he has walked these people through they have see they zoomed and they showed them baptizing in jesus name they showed all of these different things that are taking place and he's teaching them about the oneness of the godhead and different and they're just like they're just like eating it up and no doubt no doubt there will come a time we need to connect these people with other oneness people in the area and no doubt there's going to come a time we're going to need to send brother schnitzer i've already talked to him i said at the right time we need to send you over there and let you make sure everything is all right and do you know something about delta delta may do a lot of things for you it's covet season they may they may give you a free upgrade they may not charge you for cancellation but i promise you nobody's going to call delta and say we got a bunch of people in africa that have seen the oneness of god and want to be baptized and would you give us a ticket i promise you they're not going to give a ticket all right and you know what we shouldn't expect them that god's people can pay their own way god's people can pay their own way so tonight your offerings will go to help further the gospel of jesus christ let's lift our voices father i thank you tonight i thank you lord for health in my body as far as i know god i'm a healthy man i thank you for helping my body tonight lord i thank you lord that you have given me the ability to earn an income for my family i thank you father that you have given me the ability to know a trade and lord you have given me the ability to earn an income that i can feed i can shelter i can clothe my family but lord not only that you've given me the ability to have an offering of tithing or an offering in my hand that i can bring it into your house and i can bring it and drop it into the container and it is a form of worship lord i pray over this offering tonight multiply it as you did the fish and the loaves we'll give you praise and honor and glory in jesus name now listen very closely to this next little statement if you don't listen very closely you're men over men only i can still see that man hanging over that banister at that mall like i can still picture that and but that man was not married to somebody like my wife because that man's wife stood there and waited for him to ask for help if that had been me looking at that woman that way she would have went ahead and took the other foot and throwed me over the side there gave me the old heave hole amen well before we introduce dr hughes tonight i want to remind you that in just a couple of weeks on may the 2nd sunday morning and sunday night sunday morning and sunday night those of you celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first apostolic church here in maryville tennessee amen now when a lot want to change the names of their church i like the name first apostolic i like that number one it's so awesome to know that this church was the first apostolic church in the city of maryville tennessee there had never there had never been a one god jesus name book of acts church until brother james and sister judy r wood along with their three sons and a handful of saints from the knoxville church came and started the first apostolic church and i'm glad that we hold that honor that distinction of being the first apostolic church aren't you thankful to be a part of the first apostolic church 40 years 40 years celebrating brother mike bingham will be our minister brother mark mike bingham comes from carlsbad new mexico and he is no stranger to us here at first apostolic church and we are thankful to complete 40 years of continuous apostolic ministry to blunt to blunt county we have several ministers here tonight and their wives and we have several guests here tonight we would like to give you a first apostolic church handclap offering thank you so much how many in this room have a birthday on april 18th would you stand right now but standing stay standing i i carter where's carter at i i think he's got a a birthday today and uh all over this room and little did you know brother happy birthday today man people started telling me but little did we know how good god was gonna be to us our son's birthday is april the 18th and the little girl that he met married fell in love with her birthday's on april the 18th amen and what a wonderful they are four years apart and you know who's older all right and uh what a wonderful thing brother nolan we we wish you a happy birthday sister flannery happy birthday we man one birthday one gift one cake one party my god this is good [Music] brother hines the only thing better if they could have got born on december 25th that just been that just been awesome that'd be awesome i want you to stand with me right now dr hughes and his wife are with us tonight and um i have been looking for a special occasion he really needs no introduction he really needs no introduction to pentecost he really needs no introduction to us tonight i was absolutely convinced that i had to have him come to maryville when we were doing a conference together in ohio and they had him on like a panel discussion and i really loved number one how authentic he is uh i told someone they said describe him i said he's a doctor without a muffler he just kind of tells you the way it is and he don't use those big long words i tried to use them and i get it all over my tie when i try to use them all right he talks where you can understand although he is maxed out educated and in all of that you know but he just talks he just talks right where we're at right right work and what just sealed the deal he was doing this panel discussion and there were on that panel discussion some rather liberal views of things but when it came dr hughes time to speak you didn't have to wonder which side of the fence he stood on and i just loved watching all the men's eyebrows arch when he would be and i said i've got to get dr hughes to maryville he's got to uh he's got to minister to us he's going to bless us tonight would you put your hands together and welcome to the first apostolic church dr hughes [Applause] praise the lord everyone is anybody glad to be in the house of the lord tonight my pastor used to ask a question before he preached every sermon i've heard it several thousand times over twenty-something years of being with him question he would ask before he preached every sermon was has god been good to anybody here he would follow that question with a second one and the second question was who's he been the best to see god has no problem making every one of us feel like we're the most important child in his life that doesn't cause god any problem at all god's desire is that you become the vessel of honor he created you to be his desire is that you be able to accomplish and discover every talent and every ability he put in you because he did it david said i am fearfully and wonderfully made the literal translation says i am fearfully and wonderfully created god is not shocked at what i looked like the day of conception he chose the chromosomes that would create the body that i now live in he's not shocked at what it looks like at 70 years of age it doesn't take him by surprise of what's happened in my life because the same psalmist said you wrote in your book all my members when as yet there was none of them and that can only happen at conception within a matter of minutes that one cell becomes 2 4 8 16 32 64 and it keeps multiplying by double until the child is born at the instant of conception you detailed in your book how tall i'd be what the color of my eyes would be how long my fingers would be he wrote the detail of my life from the cradle to the grave the day i was conceived and his desire is that his children become what he created them to be you're not broke you're not damaged you're not worthless you're god's masterpiece and god's desire is that you be able to become everything he put inside of you you have your bibles tonight let's go to the gospel of john the fourth chapter now begin reading in verse 4 john chapter 4 and he must needs go through samaria then cometh he to a city of samaria which is called sychar near to the parcel ground that jacob gave to his son joseph now jacob's well was there jesus therefore being worried with his journey sat thus on the well it was about the sixth hour or noon there cometh a woman of samaria to draw water jesus said unto her give me to drink for his disciples were going away into the city to buy me then saith the woman of samaria unto him how is it that thou being a jew ask drink of me which am a woman of samaria for the jews have no dealings with the samaritans jesus answered and said unto her if thou knewest the gift of god and who it is that saith to thee give me to drink thou would have asked of him and he would have given thee living water for a few moments tonight i want to speak to you from the subject the gift of the holy ghost i want to talk to you tonight about what you really have but you have no clue the gift of the holy ghost the lord bless you may be seated before i begin tonight let me say what incredible honor it has it is to be here i've heard about this church for a long time i've heard others talk about it i heard one man in particular talk about it on many occasions and it's just an honor to be here and i do pray that something i say will help you to become a different person now i am asking the lord tonight the first of all to invade this place with a gentle spirit i'm praying that his peace show up in such a powerful way that we get to experience the day of pentecost all over again tonight and i'm praying that when his spirit shows up you'll let all your walls down and not be afraid of the presence of god that comes into this place i am convinced god's kids live beneath their privilege we have the greatest father in all the world but at times the way we behave and act we act as if god is mean and that he's out to get us and he does bad things to his kids we talk about god in terms that imply that god allows an enemy into our life to destroy the record and then when he gets through then he'll come back and pick up all the pieces and put us all back together if that father lived in this world he'd be behind bars because that's called child abuse god has never abused one child nobody will ever walk out of god's presence with their head down in a face shred because he shamed them embarrassed them or humiliated no one has ever heard god say i told you so if you listen to me this wouldn't happen i knew you'd do that you're stupid you're dumb you can't do anything right i hate you i wish you weren't born god has never said that to one human but we as humans use those words on a regular basis but he doesn't he's the greatest father in all the world and he's given us something that if we ever discover what it truly is it will change our lives forever several years ago i got intrigued with the gospel of john i was studying to prepare for a marriage conference i was going to speak out and i was reading from the gospel of john and i read this passage of scripture and part of it caught my attention i'd never paid attention to it before the more i studied it the bigger it grew as i began to really discover what john's gospel is really all about i had to first understand why it was written matthew mark and luke are written to introduce the world to jesus it's the history of the life of christ it was written so that those who hadn't believed or who just began to believe would have a knowledge or a history of what jesus said what he taught and what he did by the time john writes his gospel the church has been in existence for at least 70 years john's gospel is written somewhere around 100 to 107 a.d at least 70 years after pentecost so john's not writing to the world to introduce them to jesus every story in the gospel of john has a revelation behind it but we just don't pay attention to the revelations matthew traces the lineage of jesus back to abraham luke traces the lineage of jesus all the way back to adam the son of god but john does it this way in the beginning was the word and the word was with god and the word was god see john traces his lineage to god himself we beheld him we saw his glory we were able to view the demonstration of what god was doing in the world we were part of john said jesus must needs go through samaria that phrase did not have to be in this passage of scripture because it adds no detail to the story that's told other than john observed it was john's observation not jesus's words jesus never said we're going to samaria john just observed that jesus in intentionally went to samaria he has been at the jordan river he has been baptized by john he's been caught away in the wilderness and tempted for some 40 days he returns back to that river and and begins to teach and as he's teaching there some of john's disciples begin to follow jesus and then there comes a time to go home so he starts a journey home now according to john chapter 2 jesus knew all men's heart see jesus is god in flesh and i'll prove it to you in a few moments but he is the almighty god robed in flesh living among us as the god-man he's not the second person of the trinity he is god manifest in flesh god took on a body and lived among us and we beheld his glory as of the glory of the only begotten of the father we saw him we saw his works we witnessed what he did according to physicists time is defined by how long it takes to get from point a to point b if you're at point a and point b at the same time time doesn't exist god has never lived in time us humans live in time but god doesn't live in time jesus knew what time that woman would be at that well and he purposely started a journey without telling these men where he was going so that he would arrive at this well before she got there he sent 12 men to town to buy lunch now how often has it required 12 men to buy lunch he sent them to town because he didn't want them to see or hear the interaction between him and this woman this woman was so fragile that if these men had been there her life would have welled up a total complete wreck so this woman comes to a well and jesus is sitting on it we also need to understand where this will came from this is jacob's will jacob when he got back from laban's house had nothing to show that he had a birthright and an inheritance he had been blessed by his dad he had he had tricked his brother into a birthright and he comes back from laban's house with nothing to show that he is truly what god said he's gonna be so he buys a piece of property from the canaanites and he digs a well that never struck water it's just a hole in the ground about 10 foot in diameter and 150 feet deep the water in that well comes from the rain on the mountains on either side the mountain on one side is called ebal the mountain on the other side is called gerizim this is the place that moses told joshua to take the children of israel when you cross the red sea or the jordan river and you get to the promised land you come to this place and you put six tribes on one side and six tribes on the other side and at this valley by this well you define why you're here and you define what happens in your life if you obey the word of god and what happens in your life if you don't obey the word of god so one side would would speak the blessing the other side would speak the curse it's at this well all that took place this will represents humanity now this woman at the well was not a harlot and i've heard preachers make her the most worthless woman that ever existed in jesus day women had no right of divorce now the man on the other hand could get rid of his wife for any reason at all if she didn't smile at him he could send her home all he had to do is give her gallery back write her a bill of divorcement send her back to dad dad had to find another man to take her this woman had been thrown away by five men that thought she was worthless and they kept discarding her over and over and over and over again by the time jesus has an encounter with her dad must be dead because she has nobody to give her away in marriage so now she's just hooked up with somebody that's not actually her husband now at this well jesus knew all of this before she showed up and he asked her would you please give me something to drink now if you had drank water out of this well you'd wind up with a disease this well was full of immediate amoebas and protozoas and all kinds of other little creatures that if you dare drink this water you you'd wind up with all kinds of disease in your body you had to boil it before you drink it but jesus was willing to step to her level just to give her a revelation of who she is why because this is the lady that represents his bride this is what the church is gonna look like she represents every one of us sitting here tonight and when she showed up and she started listening to him first of all she was hungry she was she knew or was waiting for an opportunity for her life to change her life had been horrible up to that point she had been rejected rejected rejected rejected rejected and and treated as if she was worthless probably called all kinds of names you're not lovable i i don't like you you can't do anything right you don't even know how to cook whatever the reason was he sent her home and five times that it happened but now as they come back as as jesus is standing here with her or actually sitting on the top of the swell and he says to her if you just knew who i was i got a gift for you and that gift if i give it to you you'll never never never thirst again the moment he says that to her she instantly wants to know what he's really about and she starts but first of all by saying wait a minute you're you're saying you'll get me to drink you you don't even have a pot to lure into the well to get where how are you gonna give me this water she said he said if you just knew who i was you'd ask if you recognized who i was jesus words to that woman that day took all of her defensive mechanisms away he didn't ridicule her he didn't mock her he didn't belittle her he actually used the term to greet her that made her know instantly that he thinks i'm special because he called her by a greek word that implies a queen or someone of great honor or great esteem and he calls this little lady that had repeatedly been thrown away over and over again he lets her know you're very special to me i'm here to tell somebody tonight you are special to him i don't care what people have said i don't care what circumstances have said god has never said oops he doesn't make mistakes he don't make broken vessels humans may make you feel worthless humans may destroy your life but he will never do that to you he's going to make you feel like you're the greatest person in all the world and when you show up here he's going to make you think that he loves you more than anybody else in this room because that's what he's all about because we're that important to him [Applause] now she's ready for now now she's ready and she says okay i want he said but before i give this to you you got to go get your husband i don't i don't have one oh you're right the one you have now is not your husband you've had five up to this time and instantly she didn't get offended instantly she said i perceive you are a prophet and i i got a question do you say that we got to worship in jerusalem we say we worship here where do we worship and jesus said the day cometh and now is when true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth and the father seeketh such the father does what we sing songs about chasing god and we write books about chasing god when did god start running see jesus declared that day that the instant you call his name he's looking for you you don't have to find him the day is coming when the moment one of his kids just calls out he's gonna find you ins you couldn't find god if your life depended on it but all you've got to do is call his name and boom but if you don't spend enough time with him to start acting like him you're not a true worshiper so true worshipers are going to be people who hang around him long enough that they take on his nature and when they walk away and people encounter them they'll say whoa we know he's been with jesus because he has the nature of the person he says he's worshiping so true worship comes when you get the want to talk about i am is standing in your midst and as a result of being in the midst of i am she left her water pot at his feet and went back to town and converted the entire town that wouldn't even let her come there to get water now i'm going to mess with you tonight god don't need your testimony he needs you to live your water pot with him because he's the protector of water pots quit dragging your past around and telling everybody about your path god don't need you to do that god needs you to get close enough to him that you reflect him not talking about what you've done or where you've been [Applause] see true worshipers are going to get the nature then you're going to get the revelation of who he really is he i don't need yesterday to talk about him all i need is today to talk about him i don't have to tell you where i came from i just have to tell you about an encounter i met a man that told me all things about my life and the whole town came out to hear jesus and they begged him to stay and he spent two days in their city now he used to term to this lady that's very unique he said if you just knew who i was you'd ask me and i would give you the gift of god there are at least four different greek words for gift chara charis doran and doria charles and chara are words of beauty loveliness winsomeness doran is a gift that costs you you have to pay for it we just passed that time of year that you pass out all kinds of gifts but those gifts cost you you either have to go to work make money to pray for them or you have to take the time cream with your own hands they're not given to you freely that's a dull rod but a dorea is a gift that's given to someone not because it costs them but because it's theirs to give and they choose to share it with you because of who they are so jesus says to this lady if you just knew how i was you'd ask and i would give you a diarrhea not a dough on you it's not going to cost me anything what i'm going to give you is going to be a free gift you're not have to work for it you're going to have to pay for it i just want to give it to you and when i give it to you you will never want to leave home without it ever again because when you discover what it can do for your life you will never let anybody convince you you don't need it anymore the next place that term is used it's not found in matthew it's not found in mark it's not found in luke but the next place that word is used is found in a particular day and time and it happened when a man stood up when asked a question men and brethren what must we do to be saved and that man said repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the holy ghost the gift it's called apex jedical well when you use the term gift or do real you can substitute holy ghosts for it because they mean the same thing if you say the word holy ghost you substitute don't real far because they're interchangeable they mean exactly the same thing so on the day of pentecost peter stood up and said this is that that was spoken up by the prophet joel in the last days i'll pour out my spirit upon all flesh your sons and your daughters shall prophesy your own men shall dream dreams your young men shall see vision this has come to pass and this that you see that's happening is the gift that he told us he was going to give us now for peter to preach that message jesus forced him to interview this woman he never said it to anybody else other than her so peter had to ask that lady what did he tell you when the whole city came what did he tell you and he told me what he said to me because she represents the church she's the bride she's the woman he said to me that god is going to give us this special gift and when we ever get it it's going to change our life and give us incredible abilities to change things i need to share a story with you that i i don't often share caused a lot of problems when i share it so i'm very careful where i ever even talk about several years ago in the early 90s 93 94. was it camp meeting one of the pastors of the houston area tapped me on the shoulder at the altar that night and said i need to talk to him so okay so we walked over around the side of the platform and he said brother hughes i have a family in my church that needs help i don't know how to help him would you mind talking to him i said sure be glad to he said now i'm not sure what the problem is i really don't know how but i do know that this lady is my greatest prayer warrior if she tells you god said something you better mark it down because it's going to happen when she says god said it she has never got it wrong there's not a 90 rate there's not a 95 rate it's 100 of the time what she said god has said it happened so i get a phone call the next week i answer the phone the gentleman says our pastor told us to call you that you'd be willing to work with us so sure so i set up a meeting and on tuesday night they came in i was quite shocked at looking at these two people because they were so drastically different she's a little lady less than five foot tall and she might have weighed 90 pounds soaking wet when i tell you she's tiny she's this tiny little lady now he's about six foot two and he's got at least a 22 inch neck he looks like moose my my first image is paul bunyan i mean here's this massive man standing in front of me and this little bitty lady standing beside him he sat down in a chair the desk i was sitting at was l-shaped had a cardenza on it she said in her chair turned it sideways and pushed it up in the corner and disappeared i can't even see her she's hid by a bookcase so for the next 45 minutes i talked to him and occasionally she would say something i just hear a voice because i'm not looking at the person cause she's in hiding behind the bookcase we get through they start to leave and he said brother hughes do you do you mind the next time we come if i just talk to you first and then she talks to you afterwards i said sure i don't mind so next week they show up he comes in he sits down he said brother hughes i need to tell you some things about my wife that she will never tell you at least not at this point in her life but my wife has suffered incredible abuse as a child he said when i tell you how bad it was you will not believe what went on and so i listened she come in she wouldn't hardly talk she just basically looked at me i did most of talking it took almost six months before she would trust me enough to communicate and then she one night brings a binder about four inches thick and it's full of paper three-ring binder and she opens it and there's plastic sleeves in this binder and in every one of these plastic sleeves or photographs see dad wasn't just abusive he took time stamped photographs of every time he did something to one of those seven kids and every one of those kids had their own album of dad showing them what he was capable of doing her abuse started at six weeks mom was nursing her child dad comes in drunk by the way mom and dad are backslidden pentecostals dad comes in drunk and in his drunken stupor he goes into a rage and he starts screaming at her you love her more than you love me then he a pistol sticks it in the mouth of that infant the sight ruptured to rip the top of her mouth open she starts bleeding out of mouth and mom starts begging please please please please please don't hurt her so he beats mom senseless there's a photograph of the event mom is dressed baby's dressed baby's wrapped up in a tight blanket mom's sitting on a vinyl couch with no ends the baby's laying beside it mom's got her hands on both knees and she's staring straight ahead she's not looking at the camera she's just staring straight ahead her jaw is hanging over to one side because it's been broken he beat her and broke her jaw that day as a result of his his uncontrollable rage when he's drunk i'm not going to tell you what he did it's too horrifying about six years of age the local church started sending a sunday school bus bus by her neighborhood in tupelo mississippi and they knocked on the door there's seven kids in this family and and when the parents opened the door they said we'd like to take your children to sunday school would would you mind and they agreed and so these six seven kids started getting on a sunday school bus every sunday morning going to church over a period of time the other stopped going but she didn't it was her place of peace it was the only time in her day or her week that that something bad wasn't gonna happen she'd beg the sunday school driver to take her home last and that was the last drop every sunday somewhere around 12 years of age and sunday school class the teacher started teaching about the holy ghost and this little girl held her hand up and she said teacher can anybody have the holy ghost oh yes anybody it's for everybody whosoever will the word says well i would like the holy ghost you think jesus would give me the holy ghost then the teacher said yes jesus would give you the holy ghost he promised it as a gift to anybody if you would like it she said well i want it right now and in less than five minutes she's speaking in tongues in a sunday school class receiving the gift of the holy ghost she gets home that day after church walks in the house and she tells mom and dad i received the holy ghost today now they're backsliding pentecostal mom went into a rage there's not a child of mine going to ever go back to a pentecost you can't go there no more and dad said you don't decide what happens at this house if she wants to go back to church she can go back to church i'm in charge of this house you don't get no save so she got to go back to church and that sunday night she'd only been allowed to go in the morning but that sunday night the pastor and his wife picked her up took her to church and she got baptized that sunday night church became her escape it was her haven there was it was her peace she said brother hughes when i would get to church i loved jesus so much all they had to do was say let's stand to pray and i was running the aisles because i'd never found anything like this in my life and and and i just didn't know how to respond and he said she said i'm sure they thought i was crazy there's something wrong with that woman but i just kept worshiping 16 years of age she comes home from church on a sunday night pastor and wife drop her off at the door she walks in to find dad drunk and in a rage and he begins to beat her as she walked through the door grabbed her by the back of the head and and used her hair and beat her face against the telephone screaming call the preacher now see if god can help you now you're not getting away from me and he beat her so severely that it took three months for her face went down before she could even go outside and be around anybody she never was allowed to go back to church after that night she called her pastor and i asked him how it went and he told me the exact same story he said she called me and said dad says i can't come back to church so what do i do he didn't have a clue what was going on home nobody did so pastor says okay the bible says honor thou father and mother if this is what dad says you've got to honor what dad said but god will be with you she said my life went downhill from that time forward it was one chaotic event after another one one abusive environment see this this dad didn't just abuse one he did all of them including mom so there's eight of them getting abused every almost on a daily basis one daughter had a child by dad that's so severely deformed that the child is in an institution and the mother lost her mind is in the same institution with this deformed child dad is arrested as a result of child being born sent to prison they only give him a couple of years and when he got out came back and started up where he had left off she had brother hughes it was so bad at my house there were times i just didn't know if god even knew where i was at she said i was walking home from school one day and i said jesus if you really know what's happening in my life i need to know you know where i'm located i need to know you know what's happened in my life said nothing happened so i went to bed that night about two o'clock in the morning i'm awakened to a presence in my room i'm terrified because it's dark and i know something's in my room and i hear a voice say be not afraid it is i lights come on in my room and there stands the lord jesus with two angels and jesus said this room is soundproof nobody in this house will hear what you do right now it's just me and you and the angels said brother hughes people think i'm crazy when i tell them a story but i got out of bed that night and i took the hands of two angels and we danced in the presence of jesus until i was so exhausted i fell in the floor of exhaustion should that happen twice in my life she was incredibly intelligent graduated valedictorian of her class she's not some kid there's a nobody she's valedictorian of a large high school in her city she got a job working for the judge and the judge was so impressed with this young lady that he gave her total control of his home she paid his bills bought his groceries he starts talking to her about college before all this took place she called her pastor and said pastor i can't come to church but would you bring me a key to the church i i have friday afternoons off i'm through at noon if you'll get me a key i'll keep your church clean i'll come every friday and i'll clean your church from top to bottom and then i'll walk back to school and catch the bus home so he took a key by and left it in the office and it was passed to her and she'd walk two miles from school to church every friday that pastor told me he was actually wound up being foreign missions director and he told me he said my church was cleaner you could eat a meal off the floor at that church my church never been that clean it's history she said when i got to church i did my job first i kept it clean and i know promise to god your house will be cleaner than any house around so i'm gonna make sure your house is clean when she got through she'd go get a bible and the old hymnals and she said i'd open a hymnal and i'd sing a few songs and then i'd open the bible and i would read it and then i'd go down to the altar and i'd just worship jesus for a while and then i go back to school the summer she was to graduate this summer she did graduate she was working at judge's house she walked in one day and he said honey i talked to the president of ole miss and he's going to allow you to register for college before anybody else so whatever you want to take it's yours your college is fully paid for never cost you a penny and she said oh yeah but but you know because dad said you're never going to leave this place you're mine and i will never turn you loose and she said no i'm you know i'm not sure and he he just said okay no problem two weeks later she shows up and there are several sheriff's car in the driveway and the judge and there's papers on the desk and he said come in she walks in she's okay here's the paperwork you pick out what class you can't do and she's no no no just pick them out sign up for whatever you want to take so she filled it out knowing she wasn't going to get away but what she didn't know is the sheriff was then say okay honey let's go and she'd he'd take her and put her in his vehicle and then three or four more cars would follow him home and when they got to her home the sheriff walked up and took his nightstick wrapped on the front door when dad opened the door he just tapped him on the forehead a couple of times and had set down sir and two deputies stood on either side of that big man and the others took her to a room and she bagged up all her clothes in a paper bag and they took it put it in the sheriff's car before the sheriff left that day he wrapped his stick on that man's head a second time he said sir i'm going to give you a warning if i ever hear you've ever done anything else to this little lady your life is over do you understand what i'm saying i know where to bury things in the woods where nobody's gonna find you so if you ever do anything this lady again your life is over are you do you hear me clearly and she escaped she wound up at college she wanted to go to church she didn't know what the name of the church was she had been attending she didn't know how to find it so she got the phone book out and she flipped it open but she went to churches back when we used yellow pages and she started going down the list and she went to one church nope that's not it went to the next one nope that's not it went the next one no that's not it went the next one nope that's not it with the next one nope that's not it and finally she wound up at that pentecostal church and walked in and said this is it didn't have to do anything just walked in the door knew i'm where i need to be she said when they said let's stand and pray i was running the aisles i hadn't been in church for three whole years and i just let it all he she said they thought i was crazy but every time i was at church we were going to have church where they wanted to or not i wanted church and so i'd start worshiping jesus and i'd just start worshiping with all my might she graduated in three years became a schoolteacher her specialty is children with emotional needs she is so skilled every school district in the houston area wants to hire because of her abilities on a tuesday night in february she walked in she didn't even come in the door she just walked in and said i was praying today and the lord said the answer to my problem is found in romans chapter 8. if you'll go get romans chapter 8 and read it you'll figure out how to help me he said okay so i went open romans 8 i read it i reread it i read it i reread it i read it i couldn't find one answer i knew what her pastor said so i said jesus if there's really an answer here i gotta find it so i went got my greek text and i set up my dining room table my wife asked me what are you doing i just told her i'm gonna translate romans eight i need to find out what's there she said okay i'll keep the kids away so i sit down at my dining room table and i begin to translate romans chapter eight and it dawned on me that the scripture is writ written in third person but you do no injustice to the scripture to change the pronouns to first person the bible is written so you can apply it to you that every letter in that book you can apply to myself and it you haven't done one injustice to the scripture to change the pronouns from third person to first person and i found it it's found in the 26th verse likewise spirit also helpeth our infirmities when we know not what we should pray as we ought the spirit maketh intercession for us likewise the spirit helpeth let's change the pronouns let's don't use third person let's put first person likewise spirit also helpeth my infirmities when i know not what i should pray as i ought the spirit maketh intercession for me with groanings and utterances and the spirit knows the mind of god the word helpless is a word picture it's like a walls built across this room from wall to wall floor to ceiling there's no door you can't get around it over it under it through it but there's something driven through this wall so far you can see it but you can't get a hold of it the literal translation is to take hold of on the other side or to take hold of along with the word infirmity means any weakness it can mean disease it can mean emotional struggle it doesn't matter what the weakness is any weakness i have in life the holy ghost knows how to take care jesus said i'm going to give you a gift that knows how to take care of every problem in your life no matter what that problem is i'm going to give you a gift that will give you the ability to get by every problem that life has produced if you'll just learn how to have intercessory prayer she came back the next week she said okay did you find the answer i said yes and i started revealing to her what i just said your face lit up she said oh i've been doing this for years i just didn't know what i was doing i got this one handled i'll see you next week turn out walked out the door came back the next week with a smile on her face she said i did it i heard a babysitter i went to the church the next day i spent six hours in intercessory prayer and when i got through god had rearranged every memory in my brain there was no blank spaces there's no blank spot i can tell you my history from my beginning of life up till right now because he put it all back together see you don't know what to pray but god says i know what to pray i know i have the ability i'm to give you a gift if you ever learn how to let it work it will cause incredible changes in your life you're before last or last year i guess it's been about this time last year i was flying in the airport open my laptop and my home pages is the news page and so it popped open and i saw an article caught my attention so i downloaded it got on the airplane and i started reading it and once i got home and and had read it there this was a a research paper that had over 30 items or 30 different areas that they had gotten the information from so it's not just a person's opinion it's research that's been done about human beings and the title of the article was scientists have discovered that human dna can be altered by sound and vibration they have discovered that you can take dna and place it in a fluid suspended bring people into the room and have them say harsh and ugly things to each other and if you examine the dna the dna is going to be damaged you can put it back in that same fluid bring people into that room to speak words of kindness words of love words of affirmation to each other and the dna that had been hurt or injured will now be healed by the power of words so the the word that i speak according to proverbs in the tongue is death and life i have the ability through my words to speak life into other people's lives we will never know what happens in the lives of your children that are conceived while you are part of church and and mother brings those children into this room on a regular basis before that child we will never know how many lives have been changed simply by the song saying and the words preached that have the ability to alter the dna some of your kids have been healed of horrible things just by you showing up here being part of a pentecostal church hearing the preached word of god and hearing the worship as people worship and sing the songs of melody the songs of praise and worship will never under only eternity is going to be able to unfold what's happened but what scientists discovered is the sound the vibration that alters dna is 528mhz now i'm not a music major i don't know nothing about music as a kid someone made fun of me because i couldn't sing on key and i turned music off from that day and as of today if you get my vehicle and turn it on there part of your brain that controls your tongue and vocal cards is not active your brain has no control over the words coming out of your mouth when you speak in tongues and when the day of pentecost was fully come they were all in one place and one accord and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire and it set upon each of them and they all began to speak with tongues as the spirit gave the entrance the part of your brain that's highly active when you speak in tongues is your sensory perception it's like every nerve on your skin has been stroked all at the same time when you let him speak through you god just wraps himself around you and touches you from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head to the every nerve gets touched by god all at the same time you're getting a hug as god allows his spirit to flow through you if sound and vibration alters life they also discovered that dna communicates you can take the queen out of an ant colony move her halfway around the world as long as she's alive that at colley thrives the moment she dies the ant colony disappears because dna has a communication ability it also stores information it's like a computer in your dna is a record of every disease you've ever fought and it knows how to fight them and deal with them so my dna has the ability to communicate they played music to dna and discovered that classical music alters dna by about one percent rock music causes it to be hurt by one percent but gregorian chants caused dna to be healed nine times faster than anything else you know what a gregorian chant is it's when the catholic church sings the word of god it's a bare-toned voice taking the scripture and putting it into music it's the most beautiful i never heard it when the pope died i was walking through an airport and they were doing his funeral and i hear this incredible music it caught my attention i turned and there's this gentleman standing there and i hear what he's singing he's singing from the gospel of matthew and i hear him sing the word of god the word of god literally causes your dna is a helix it's a spiral but when you put the word of god in the influence of dna it relaxes and unfolds and lays down flat now tell me the word of god's not jesus said i'm just going to give you a gift if you ever learn how to use it it's going to change your life it'll change the life of everybody around you if dna can communicate then god said i'm going to give you a gift that you can affect everybody in your life that shares your dna without you ever sent a word to them i'll give you the ability to pray for your kids when they may be lost they may be halfway around no matter where they're at your prayer has the ability to communicate with their dna without their permission or their even know you're doing it why because he said i'm going to give you this gift that if you ever figure out how to use it you will change the life of everybody that's around you you know god demands you practice what you preach i preached this at my brother's church on wednesday night after getting that revelation i had to have surgery on my back and so i had to quit traveling for a week and had to have a disc that was ruptured they had to cut part of it off and and so i was at home that sunday morning and my brother stepped in the pulpit and he started talking to the church he said we have a lady here calling her my name she's dying she has stage four cancer she's lost down to about 80 pounds she's a tall lady about five eight or five nine she's lost down to about 80 pounds and they don't give her any hope of recovery her husband called me last night his dad was a pioneer of the gospel in oklahoma and he called me and he said you know i was reading the word of god and and figured out we've done this wrong the scripture says if there's any sick among you let them if you don't want to call for healing god's not going to heal you see we've been calling you to be healed when in fact you're the one supposed to call not us so if you want healing to start showing up you got to start saying okay jesus i need you in my life and he said my wife wants the elders of the church to lay hands on her no no don't pray for her i'm sitting there i hate to admit i'm an elder i guess i resemble it now but it means i'm old and he just motioned like this and i walked up and he handed me that bottle of oil he said go pray for her. i started back to her pew i said jesus if all of this is true i want to see you demonstrate it i yield you my body and my vocal cords you know the sound and vibration that needs to happen to kill every cancer cell in that body so i give you permission jesus i put all my finger i stuck my hand out to pray and the holy ghost fell i couldn't say a word it just started flowing out when it got through i quit walked away nothing changed she was gray in color she looked like death they took her home she could barely walk the next saturday there were three large tumors that were seen through the skin one of them was gone two weeks later the second one was gone three weeks later the third one was gone so they took her back to the doctor the onychology had been treating her who happened to be a muslim man and they walk in the room and he just looked at her and said who's been treating this woman who'd you take her to and the husband said nobody no somebody's been treating her because i can see a difference in her just by looking at her right now he said no we're pentecostal we believe in the prayer the power of prayer i took her to church they laid hands on her they prayed for her now you see what jesus can do he didn't say a word he just turned around to his computer and start typing printed out a piece of paper handed it to the husband and on that piece of paper it simply said eat right sleep right and have lots of faith and as of today she's gained her health back her weight back and there's not one sign of that cancer cell in her body as of today why because jesus said i will give my kids a gift when people say it can't happen don't ever believe what they say can't happen just start using the gift that i give you the ability to use all you've got to do is be willing to say jesus take my tongue my vocal cards use them i don't know what to pray but the spirit knows everything that needs to be prayed it knows the mind of god it knows what's happening in their life if i can just yield my body to him and allow him to start praying through me so i'm here to tell every one of you tonight if you'd start demonstrating tonight not next week not tomorrow not next year but tonight if you wouldn't be in a hurry and if you would be willing to pray what i just said and say to jesus jesus i give you my vocal cards i give you my tongue i'd give you my voice you begin to speak the words that need to bring healing to everybody in my life i got a backslidden son god i don't know how to reach but you do you know how to touch his life so i'm going to heal my body to you so that my prayer can change wherever he's at if he's in a different state or if he's in another country of the world wherever he's located my prayer is going to start affecting his life right now that's it see i told you pentecost we're going to show up tonight you know what the upper room sounded like you're listening to it right now you're hearing pentecost all over again that day has showed up and it's happening right now again because he gave us this incredible gift called the holy ghost just don't be afraid to let it out don't be afraid to let it out give him your voice give him your voice let him speak walls come down that's it let it out don't be afraid the holy ghost is here people are going to be healed tonight lives are going to be changed tonight because you chose to yield yourself to his spirit so that his spirit could flow through you and his spirit could start changing things that are around you he's here all you've got to do is respond don't be afraid of foreign you're hearing pentecost today the wind is blowing right now what's happening here happened in a upper room 2000 years ago and you're hearing the same sound of that upper room as the presence of god invades this talk about speaking in tongues what we've been talking about the last few wednesday nights around here but now i want to tell you i want to send you home with something tonight i'm going to send you home with something sometimes we are we we have been westernized that we want what we want and we want it now right now we want glorious deliverance we want instant healing when the bible says these signs shall follow them that believe in my name they shall lay their hands on the sick i'm going right to this part they shall lay their hands on the sick and the sick shall recover he didn't say the sick would be instantly healed but it said they would recover after surgery is done in a hospital they have another room you are sent to it's called recovery because they know in order for you to be healthy you're going to have to go through a stage called recovery they brought a young boy to jesus the disciples had tried to cast him out and had failed they brought the young boy to jesus and jesus asked a question that a lot of us look over he asked a question this boy was self-destructing he was suicidal if there was a body of water he tried to drown himself if there was fire he tried to burn himself and jesus asked the father a question how long has this behavior been you ever read that he said how long has he been acting like how long has he been acting this way and the man said from a child in other words this behavior is deep rooted this is a deep rooted behavior he has pathways in his mind that automatically connect water with death and fire with death it is deep rooted no wonder jesus turned gave the explanation for why the disciples had failed because he said this kind can only come out but by prayer and fasting you look up here at me tonight you have missed the mark of what dr hughes has preached if you think you're going to wake up in the morning and instantly everything is blue skies and it's changed in your life you have you have missed the mark you have missed it completely but what dr hughes has left us tonight is that in the morning you don't have to be at church to be able to pray in the spirit you do not have to be at church to be able to pray in the spirit the things that have you bound the things that have got your life turned upside down are not going to change overnight your change will only come about but by prayer and fasting praying in
