is Galaxy AI enough to Dethrone Google's class leading software trickery and should you be worried about Periscope Zoom cameras being downgraded find out in this battle of the beasts Android police's Galaxy s24 Ultra versus pixel 8 Pro comparison hey guys I'm Ryan Thomas and it's going to be all about the AI this year Google has been the class leader so far with its magic tools but Samsung has stepped up and delivered some AI tools of its own with the Galaxy s24 Ultra Galaxy AI can do similar things to Google's Magic editor though it does have its own on the-fly translation tool voice note transcription and circle to search whereas Google stuff seems to be primarily focused on the camera for now with video boost and audio eraser I think while Google's tools are cool Samsung's might be more useful or at least have more variants to them and it's exciting to see where the Korean firm takes this going from forward in fact Samsung has matched Google on its software update promise 7 years for the s24 ultra and 7 years for the Google pixel 8 Pro the difference being the latter device has already been out for a little bit which is already eaten into its software update policy time either way both companies are going hard on longevity which makes these eyering price tags a little easier to digest speaking of which there's a big price Delta this time around Google's pixel 8 Pro sits a hair under $11,000 whilst the Galaxy s24 Ultra has launched for about $300 more for 30% more cash it better prove its worth you could get a decent mid-range phone for that price Delta difference I mean that's kind of nuts speaking of Delta there are some pretty big differences externally well Google has gone with the aluminium and Gorilla Glass victus 2 Samsung has opted for the more expensive titanium and Gorilla Glass armor which should specifically help scratch resistance feeling the two in the hand there is a significant contrast whilst larger the s24 ultra does feel grippier with the more textured side rails and squared off design the flatb is easier to hold on to than the sort of slippery curved one on the back of the pixel 8 Pro though you do feel the extra 20 G in weight in the Samsung neither of these phones are for small-handed people or small pocketed shorts and jeans they are absolute Beast these things if you like to listen to music out loud the pixel 8 Pro's heavier Note weight more natural tamber and more impactful bass are likely to impress where the s24 just sounds tener through its speakers and button tactility and haptic feel are both Superior on the pixel 8 Pro 2 though as far as inter display fingerprint scanners go it's hard to beat Samsung's ultrasonic unit for speed and reliability it's also been hard to beat Samsung's displays for the longest time and as good as the pixel 8 Pros panel might be it's not dethroning the king the s24 ultra's brighter panel is bigger it's sharper making it probably the best display in a phone right now at least a slab one at this current moment in time and I don't see it being beaten anytime soon don't get me wrong both screens are big beautiful sharp they're great for gaming and watching YouTube videos and other content but the Samsung's display is just objectively better is it worth the extra spend I'm not too sure about that at least not until we get into performance where the pixel8 pro gets absolutely bodied by the s24 ultra the latter's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more capable outside of games with the ufs 4.0 storage helping the phone just feel snappier and more responsive but it is in those heavier games that really separates the men from the boys here and there's just plain more performance with the s24 ultra more demanding games run smoother and smoother for longer thanks to the advanced Vapor chamber cooling solution and if you're serious about gaming I would go with the Samsung even at its higher price that isn't to say the tza G3 and the pixel 8 Pro is bad it's certainly far off that but it is a ways off the Galaxy s24 Ultras Snapdragon 8 gen 3 and having that faster storage really makes a difference in those big games too big phones have big batteries the pixel 88 Pro and S2 for Ultra have 5,50 and 5,000 Mah batteries respectively with the latter giving you substantially more time on a charge both devices can be 2-day phones if you want them to but the s24 ultra delivered that far more easily and reliably the pixel 8 Pro's battery life is really good but the s24 Ultras is a step ahead when you bring charging speeds into the mix Samsung has Google Pon 2o with 45 watt wide and 15 W Wireless over 30 W wide and 23 W Wireless with the asterisk being you need that compatible Google pixel stand for the 23 W wireless charging is the charging a deal breaker no but the additional battery life is worth thinking about and it's also worth noting need the phone comes with a power break in the Box the S Pen the handy little stylist that follows you around and something that you either use all the time or barely ever is something to take note of here this is a personal preference but I really enjoy having the S Pen for marking up screenshots and signing documents it's really handy to have in my opinion and does add value to the Samsung as a complete package you don't get a stylist with the pixel 8 Pro speaking of complete packages the cameras I'm going to Chuck the specs up on screen for you right now because there a lot to digest but the gist of it is that Samsung seems to have the hard Ware Crown add more sensors and lenses alongside that monstrous 200 megap Main sensor with high resolution video if you want that too in reality things are a lot closer than you'd expect actually a lot of the time it was the pixels photos that I gravitated towards due to the more natural color and contrast profile look we know Samsung likes to push things to make images pop and stand out and the sharpness filter used is quite aggressive especially when zooming in compared to Google's but this can result in clearer looking long range shots both pretty much nail color temperature tonal capture which is great to see so what you're looking at was more or less what I was seeing with my eyes when taking these [Music] photos video capture is a very similar matter the ultra hd60 FPS video looks great from both I think the pixel8 pro deals with exposure transition a little more smoothly but both are very technically impressive it really is quite a back and forth between the pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy s24 Ultra the former has a more reliable point and shoot set of cameras the more interesting design in my opinion and comes in significantly cheaper and the latter has better performance and battery life a better display the S Pen and decks where you can hook your phone up to a display and just use it like a a desktop computer though the s24 ultra does take the crown this time around and is the new best phone you can buy I'm not sure it's really worth it for most people to Pony up the extra $300 for the s24 ultra over the pixel 8 Pro especially since Google's phone has been out for a while now and you can find deals across the internet to get them around the $850 to $900 Mark if you want my pick I'm taking the pixel and putting $300 into savings for a rainy day but I want to hear what you have to think about this in the comments on this one and that's it from me guys thank you all so much for watching please hit like And subscribe if you enjoy today's content and never want to miss another upload
