this video is sponsored by sakuraico and tokyo treat stemming from one of the most influential video games of all time ff7 remake is set to be one of the most ambitious gaming projects ever its predecessor set the bar higher than anyone had imagined with impossibly high expectations and a raving fan base unlike any other let's examine what we've uncovered from this monumental title thus far this is the final fantasy vii remake iceberg a reimagining conventionally when a game is called a remake we expect it to be the same story but with modern day graphics and gameplay mechanics sure some changes are always to be expected but usually the end result is the same thing as before however ff7 remake is in fact a reimagining of the original game which means that even though it has the same settings and characters the story has many notable differences that make it an alternate universe in the world of final fantasy some of the biggest changes include the fact that avalanche is a much larger organization that has a spy within shinra there are new locations sector 7 has a hidden lab sephiroth makes an appearance in the midgar section of the game which never happened in the original and zack survives his tragic fate from the original game as well at least for now there's even the addition of the mysterious whispers of fate which seemed to be one of the reasons behind events playing out differently as well so ff7 remake may appear to be just the old game but in better graphics at a distance but in reality it's a new version of final fantasy vii story altogether within a canon bass context aerith is implied to be aware of the events of the original game and perhaps even her own death but she might not know about everyone else's fate such as zak's and of course sephiroth also seems to have gained some knowledge of the future which is one of the main reasons as to why the events are playing out differently this time around third time's a charm the original ff7 may have come in three discs but it was just one game with a complete self-contained story for the most part it did have some spin-off content here and there but those were extra games and extra stories however it has been confirmed that the ff7 remake is split into three different games which will make it a full trilogy we already have the name for the second one which is called final fantasy vii rebirth and the third game is already in development at the time as well although we don't know its name yet fans theorize that it might be something like resolution or resurrection but we'll see in time crisis core ff7 reunion this is a spin-off game that delves deeper into zach's story who was a character that mattered a lot to cloud story in the original game since it was part of the original timeline everyone knew that it would end with zack's sacrifice and so it did which broke the hearts of millions of fans worldwide now with the announcement of ff7 rebirth a remaster of crisis core ff7 was also announced which is simply called ff7 reunion so we're only told that it's a remaster and although the graphics are hd and 3d models have been upgraded it does seem to be the same game otherwise however the reason it's part of this iceberg is because many fans and even some gaming journalists are theorizing that it's possible that the ending of the remaster will be changed so that it acts as a companion story to the new continuity set forth by the ff7 remake in which zach does survive if this turns out to be true then this will be the official prequel to the remake and will help us delve into zack's story once more without having to see him die ps3 tech demo during e3 2006 square enix unveiled a tech demo for ff7 that remakes the opening of the game it ran at 60fps and featured great visual fidelity for the time which was undoubtedly a massive upgrade from the original ps1 graphics of the game as soon as fans saw the demo they first assumed that it's a confirmation for an official remake of the game once they learned that it's a tech demo rather than an actual remake within development they still had hopes that it might lead to a remake either way square enix eventually revealed in time that the purpose of the demo was simply to showcase the capabilities of the playstation 3 and to show us how far the technology has come it took six months to develop the tech demo and footage from it was eventually used for a scene in crisis core ff7 at a later time however the team went on to develop final fantasy 13 which moved from a ps2 game to a ps3 game after square saw how good the graphics were from the ff7 tech demo which couldn't have been possible on a ps2 with all things considered fans still believe that the demo did contribute to the ff7 remake becoming a reality it showed the company how strong the demand for the remake was and how much fans still wanted it due to how much they hoped the ps3 tech demo was secretly an announcement for the remake aerith swears there's a very short scene in the remake where aerith almost falls off a broken ladder and she simply says you wouldn't believe it but it became an important topic of discussion amongst fans at first it just became a bit of a meme in the community because players found it funny that she never acted this way in the original game but here she said a swear word for the first time the reason behind how something as simple as the word was seen as a big deal for her is because she has been seen as an innocent flower girl by fans for decades so naturally it was unexpected however the debate eventually started when half of the fans said that this is out of character for her while the other half defended it saying that she grew up in the slums so even though she's a nice girl she obviously does have some down to earth parts to her personality and some went on to argue that tifa is seen as a tease yet her character is much more than that too so it's just a case of fans misunderstanding the personalities the debate was never settled as its different opinions and interpretations of the character but it does make sense that someone who grew up in the slums could swear despite being innocent at heart toilet paper the original ff7 contained a lot of attention to detail which was rare for the ps1 due to its limitations in one part of the game you could run on a treadmill which served no purpose aside from just letting fans enjoy the extra details of the environment and in another part you could enter a toilet as well ff7 remake expanded upon this by letting players access a lot of different toilets mainly in the shinra building and they were of course properly detailed as you'd expect them to be however there is one small detail that fans were quick to point out there is no toilet paper whether it's cloud's apartment the shinra building or even aerith's personal toilet none of them seem to have any toilet paper which is a confusing detail to leave out considering how everything else is rendered perfectly do the characters in ff7 not need toilet paper perhaps the characters in the game don't actually need it or perhaps do they have a bidet system it's hard to answer this question and it's made confusing further by the fact that at one point in the game you can find people talking about restocking resources after an incident and one character says they need to buy toilet paper so do only a few people use it in the world we may never know voice acting overhaul steve burton started voicing cloud strife in 2006 starting with the first kingdom hearts game and he voiced the character in all of his english appearances up to 2018's dissidia final fantasy nt on the psx 2015 event a trailer for final fantasy 7 remake contained voice over and steve burton was seemingly still reprising his role as cloud strife in the english dub of the game however this was unfortunately changed in the final version of the game as cody christian took over the role instead steve is not the only person who lost their job in their role as longtime actress rachel lee cook and mina sivari who both voiced tifa and aerith respectively were replaced by newcomers as well bo billingsley was originally supposed to play the role of barret as well similar to steve but was replaced by john eric bentley the only reason behind this is that square enix wants a fresh start and perhaps wants younger voices for the new games as it's a reimagining rather than a shot to shot remake as you'd expect fans were torn over this decision especially since the japanese voice actor of cloud still reprised his role in the remake but over time the new voices have been welcomed as they are talented actors plus steve burton publicly acknowledged and respectfully wished cody the best of luck up up and away while we're on the subject of voice acting ff7 remake is the second time that the role of sephiroth was played by someone who also played the role of superman the first actor was george newburn who voiced superman in an animated series whereas the new voice actor tyler hoakland plays the role of superman in the super girl and superman and lowest tv shows on the cw channel additionally cody christian who voices cloud gideon emery who voices biggs and tyler hoakland as well all appeared on the tv show teen wolf in the past it's time once again for our favorite sponsor sakuraico is a monthly japanese subscription service where you're sent a box full of authentic locally sourced japanese tea sweets snacks and home goods like this shout out and thank you to sakurako and tokyo treat they've been wonderful and i hope you give them a shot and now back to the video young at heart but growing old conversation on making a remake for ff7 had been going for a long time but square enix did not greenlight the project and focused on newer games in the franchise instead however the original developers of ff7 had a dream of remaking the game themselves and did not want a different team to take over instead the development finally began when the producer brought the subject up to katasi nojima and amira all of whom felt like they were getting too old and they might not be alive to make the remake anymore if the project took longer to be greenlit and they did not want to pass it on to newcomers because they felt the essence of the game would be lost and of course square was asked to help grow the ps4's game library so the timing was just perfect in every way it's not every day that the original creators of a foundational game can work on the remake two decades later first of many ff7 remake was the first time a 3d final fantasy game was given a remake although ff3 and 4 were remade as well they were originally 2d games of course this should not be confused with remasters as games like ff10 and crysis core were remastered but ff7 marks the first time there has been a full-fledged remake of a 3d final fantasy game not just an update on existing visuals the unlikely level cap ff7 remake is the first numbered entry in the franchise where the level cap is not 99 or higher but instead just 50. the reason behind this is speculated to be the fact that the game ends on just one part of the story as two more games are being made in the trilogy so letting the player become too powerful this early on will feel overpowered and not letting them be overpowered yet letting the number hit 100 would simply feel insincere that being said the highest level caps in general are typically just for players who like to max it out anyway as the original final fantasy was still able to be beat by players level 40 to 50 for those who like to go fast a total span of story if you pay close attention to the day and night cycle in ff7 remake you can get an estimation of how much time is spent through the events of the story the first day is the midgar bombing mission the second day begins with cloud and tifa exploring sector seven the third day has cloud join barrett and tifa day four starts with aerith finding cloud in the church day five has cloud leaving early in the middle of the night and then the rescue mission in wall market and then in day six the trio rescues wedge from the underground lab and in day seven the trio rescues aerith from the shinra company and day eight the gang exits midgar early in the morning all of this combined is a total of 8 days and although the game does not talk about it you can easily count the days from the day and night cycle since the game does not feature a time skip and all the days go sequentially together times are changing although the final fantasy franchise is mainly popular for its turn-based combat rpg gameplay square enix seems to be leaning more towards the hack and slash real-time combat as of late after ff15 added a quicker battle system that is similar to hack and slash gameplay rather than turn-based experience ff7 ended up featuring two types of battle systems those who prefer the classic turn-based combat can still select it if they want but it's featured as an optional thing and every advertisement in general endorses the real-time combat far more it's still a role-playing game that requires strategy but it's no longer mandatory to select your attacks from a list and after the ff7 remake ff16 seems to be dropping the turn-based formula 2 as it has been confirmed as a hack and slash game with real-time combat again though square is probably not going to get rid of the turn-based combat permanently it's clear to see where the future priorities are lying creative differences cyber connect 2 which is best known for their dot hacks series and many popular anime fighting games were originally hired to develop the game alongside of square enix providing them extra staff and support however due to reasons that were never publicly disclosed this deal fell through approximately within a year and square moved the development to their in-house studio right away some fans speculate that this might be related to how the main team felt the newcomers and the development team might not be able to maintain the essence of the original game and it's harder to oversee two studios at once super ultra arcade turbo edition we're in the age of video games having one edition two mini as soon as the game's launch and sadly ff7 remake is no exception to this rule the game originally had 5 editions which includes both physical and digital editions split among the three main categories there is a base edition a deluxe edition and a first class edition that was only available on the square enix store and if you pre-ordered the game that divided the experience even further by giving you a special chocobo chick summon materia dlc integrate speaking of another addition for the ff7 remake integrate is an updated version of the game that includes previous dlc and a new episode starring yuffie it's titled episode intermission it was released for the playstation 5 and for the first time ff7 remake found its way on the pc platform not only does the ps5 version cost 69.99 despite being an old game it has a separate deluxe edition that costs 89.99 and it includes an artbook and soundtrack and the general changes that it has are better graphics a few gameplay tweaks a photo mode and some difficulty settings and for the few to whom it matters there's some ps5 features too that take advantage of the dual sense controller it's surely the ideal way to play the remake and 2022 but it can feel excessively priced when these few improvements are generally offered as part of a free upgrade or cheap re-releases when it comes to other games what could have been first of all red 13 could have been playable but the widely believed reason behind this not happening is that he is only in the game for a short time and players wouldn't have been able to play him as much which is interesting to note because red 13 does seem to have all his physical attack animations already made and assigned then we have the fact that in the ultimania tetsuya kazushige and yashinori all revealed that they all wanted to expand on the original game even more by adding more story and gameplay elements but they had to leave out some of the ideas due to time constraints they did not provide many examples but one of the cut ideas was to have cut scenes in chapter 9 that showed tifa boarding the chocobo wagon from sector 7 to wall market then we have a famitsu article that revealed roche was going to appear in the last fight of the game and he could have been an additional fight in the slums too during chapter 14. but it was cut out because it would have been a tonal inconsistency since he is a bit of a joke character and having him show up would feel out of place especially as a boss fight himself with his bike in chapter 14. there's also an unfinished model of a younger looking sing in the game that wasn't used in the final product but it was intended to be part of a flashback cutscene where he meets a young aerith and last but not least it was revealed by katasi and hamaguchi that there was a plan to change the storyline even further compared to the original final fantasy vii but nimiro wanted the game to be as close to the original as possible aside from a few changes here and there that establish it as an alternate timeline so in the end that's what happened since many of the events in the original game still play out in the remake unscrapped idea in the original ff7 barrett was going to be murdered by sephiroth but this was later changed to aerith which is obviously one of the most tragic and notorious scenes in the final fantasy series and the remake aerith might die in the future but for now she seems to have survived her fate at the time instead like the original idea barrett is killed by sephiroth this time around but he is eventually revived by the mysterious whispers of fate so in the end no one has died but the original idea of having barrett killed was eventually reused in the remake most people seem to agree that having a meaningful moment like eric's death play out only to be reversed by the whispers would be a terrible shock factor angering the creator toxic fans are always a terrible stain on any product's legacy and it sometimes becomes very stressful for the developers themselves nojima was so angered by toxic fans bothering him about the remake he issued an official statement that he'd rather just not discuss the game at all and that if he keeps replying he might end up saying something that affects people's enjoyment of the game he then elaborated that he's not quitting social media and instead he's just going to stop talking about final fantasy vii remake in general and will refrain from stating any personal opinions about it and he seems to be true to his word as most of his tweets are now about his personal life and safely reaches a small audience of calm fans exploits and farming you can get infinite items in the game because shinra boxes reappear after you load your game so break the boxes save the game after collecting items like potion phoenix downs and moogle metals then reload the game and break the boxes once more and by repeating this step you'll be able to have an infinite supply of those items as long as you're willing to farm the recommended spot for this is the rest area that you can find before the air buster fight in the sector 5 reactor secondary limit breaks hard mode in general is no secret but one of the things that come with it includes new challenges in the shinra battle simulator inside of chapter 16 and 17 which is a piece of info that is sometimes missed you can also unlock secondary limit breaks for characters in the coliseum by participating in optional fights that only allow you to use one playable character once you complete these fights you will earn these characters secondary limit breaks and there is one for each playable character in the game this can be done in chapter 9 and onward although they are optional these upgrades can be very useful in the main storyline tifa's bust if you've been paying attention to video games in the past two decades then you know that even people who have never played the final fantasy games still find tifa very attractive when tifa's new design and graphics were revealed in the ff7 remake fans were in shock at how amazing she looks and how high quality everything is but as soon as they close their jaws they started to realize that one thing looks different typa's breast size yes this became a big topic of discussion and many fans complained that her bust size has been reduced in comparison to what it used to be in past illustrations one theory behind it was thinking that it's censorship as games have been sexualizing characters less than before in the past few years though the original game had very low graphics so it's not exactly inaccurate in comparison the only real difference comes from certain in-game models and exaggerated pieces of fan art but that too is nothing that has to remain consistent since many of them were cameo appearances but there's still another explanation for this which is that similar to real life martial artists her sports bra might be compressing their size which makes them look smaller than they actually are and many fans believe this to be consistent with her character too since she's known to be a bit shy at different points over the years such as when she didn't want to climb the stairs at shinra hq due to her skirt in the original game and how she was reluctant to enter the men's toilets in the remake as well playable 13. officially despite having a move set red 13 is not playable in the ff7 remake for reasons already disclosed in the iceberg however you can in fact still play him through save editing which gives the player control of the character he does not have any character specific special abilities and you can't change his equipment since he won't show up on the character menu but you can still use his standard moves just fine and fight enemies that stand in your way and since the remake found its way to the pc platform fans have created mods of the character being fully playable as well which makes it less complicated than using edited save files it's still far from perfect but it does the job well enough for those who just want to enjoy playing as the fierce beast fan theories tifa mentioned that she went to look up the meaning of the flower that cloud gave to her at the start of the game and it meant reunion aerith must have known what the flower means so why did she give it to cloud well everyone seems to believe that it might hint towards her having already known cloud from the original timeline and now she has got to meet him again so she left him a hint and of course the name of crisis core ff7 remaster is called reunion which might be related to in some way and further fuels the speculation that it might have some changes that tie into the remake timeline resolution cutscenes in chapter 14 cloud can talk to barrett tifa or aerith in the flower garden and it's called a resolution scene which scene you get is based on your choices throughout the game and which characters you treated the best and the scene plays out on its own when the time comes players often think that the canon cutscene out of these three is individual to each player and that if you get one the other two did not take place in that specific playthrough however all three resolution scenes are kanan because they take place at different times of the day so it's very clear that cloud actually spoke to and motivated all three characters by spending some time alone with them barrett's cutscene takes place in the late evening as the sky isn't as dark as it is during tifa's resolution meanwhile tifa's resolution is thought to be in the middle of the night the sky is dark and she's sorry for waking cloud up and aerith's cutscene takes place just before the morning and she mentions that around the end of the cutscene selfish aerith aerith is generally seen as a selfless and innocent character but fans think that the new version of the character is a bit selfish ever since she might have realized that she was going to die first of all trying to change events to keep herself alive can put others who were originally going to live at risk then we have the fact that she seems reluctant when the fight with the whispers begins so she even seems to be possibly unhappy about the fact that she's changing things although she might not be selfish and she might be simply confused about everything and unaware of when or why she's supposed to die and in the sequels she might give into her fate too by believing her attempts to be pointless or selfish so with all things considered this might just be a case of fans reading too much into the limited info presented to the player at this time choose who lives everyone loves a happy ending but it's never that simple many fans believe you will have to choose who to save or the story itself would change who lives and dies as a consequence of changing the timeline zack might live and everyone consider that the golden ending but at the same time cloud might have to choose between aerith or tifa's fate and in a shocking turn of events who knows even cloud might end up dying so even though we're all happy to see zach and erith live for now we might be given a horrible choice or just be forced to see what happens down the line and it would make both the original ff7 and remake bad endings in their own ways as some people live in one and die and the other like and subscribe to see more videos like this and let us know what topics we should cover next and last but not least a huge shout out and thank you to the channel members
