the religion of islam and those who abscribe themselves to the belief in allah and many of the youth they find themselves struggling with their desire and their inclination to music and the lifestyle and the culture and everything that conforms with it may allah protect us from this i mean everything that i've derived for this talk today and i asked allah subhanahu wa to purify my intentions because my intentions is only to enjoying that which is good and forbid that which is evil which is the obligation upon the believer to enjoy that which is good and forbid that which is evil and what i compiled are proofs and evidences from the book of allah subhanahu wa the allah and the sunnah of muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the companions and those who followed them in totality and righteousness and in faith so insha'allah insha allah i pray allah subhanahu wa allah open our hearts and allow our hearts to embrace that which is true and may allah turn our hearts to obedience to him in this matter and aid us and assist us in abstaining from that which he forbid for the embodiment of our souls and for our final abode which insha allah we pray so with no further delay let's begin this matter of establishing the evil the most of music and the evils of the culture and everything that follows in his glorious book he says and of mankind is he who purchases idol talk to mislead from the path of allah without knowledge and takes it by way of mockery for such there will be a humiliating torment in this ayah clearly for those who have sound intellect and pure hearts he establishes the prohibition of those who purchase idle talk and we will clarify from the understanding of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in his companions with this hadith what it entails in regards to misleading from the path of allah without knowledge and he takes it by way of mockery for such there will be a humiliating torment in the fight yeah they be left so allah he connects this he mentions of the doom those who turn away from the quran and do not benefit from hearing the words of allah instead they turned to listening to flutes and singing accompanied by musical instruments subhanahu wa ta'ala and making fun of it so what we know from the consensus of scholars that mockery is one of the nullifiers of islam meaning the one who makes mockery of islam whether intentionally or jokingly he has left the fold of islam whether he does it intentionally or jokingly this form of mockery expels one from the fold of islam so if we do not understand or comprehend the severity of this form of mockery may allah guide us and rectify our affairs because this matter is severe subhanallah i remember there was a song that i overheard one day of this woman may allah guide her and rectify her affairs that goes by the name of nicki minaj she's in the song saying masha allah alhamdulillah meanwhile she's extremely close to being naked gyrating and things of the likes by mentioning statements from her mouth that are clear statements of ibadah though she's not muslim her intentions may not be intentionally or jokingly she may believe that she's doing something to actually pay homage or show some level of respect to islam but for the muslims who engage in this meaning you're rapping behind her masha allah al hamdulillah these are act these are statements of ibaad and these statements have a place they have a respectful place because we know that that is for allah and allah alone so how does one think that because some false sense of homogeneous being paid pray paid to allah subhanahu wa allah or the religion of islam that this makes it permissible or this makes it praiseworthy or this makes it acceptable this form of mockery coming from those who ascribe themselves to belief it would immediately remove you from the fall of islam because masha allah alhamdulillah subhanallah all of these statements are statements of ibadah and we know that he you who know me know that i spent many many years immersed in this lifestyle even before the music business being born and raised in the streets of harlem and growing up in the streets surrounded by drugs violence prostitution murder rape all of these things for years and years growing up believing that this was normal believing that this was normal this was my plight then allah subhanahu wa he guided me to islam and what i found in the religion of islam was everything that i was looking for when i had no knowledge because our natural disposition we want good and we are in a consistent pursuit of that which is good but i was a victim of the tricks of the shaytan making me believe that everything that was evil or everything that was evil was good meaning it was okay to listen to music it was okay to fornicate it was okay to sell drugs because the intentions is good i want to help my family i want to help people so i do something evil with the intention of doing something good when one cannot derive any good from that because the foundation and the basis of it is evil so when i look at many of the youth who were born and raised in islam you were born and raised muslim you came from the womb of a believer this is from the mercy of allah you came from the womb of a believer you came into this world nurtured and cultivated upon to eat but many of you have allowed your curiosity and your lowly desires to take you away from the security that's been provided from you has been provided for you since the very day you were born this understanding that you had was made clear to you from the very moment you can talk from the very moment you can comprehend from the very moment you were able to implement and many of you have allowed your curiosity and your lowly desires to chase something that is contrary to what you were nurtured and cultivated so i asked allah subhanahu wa with the islam to turn our hearts back to that which is correct guide us and rectify our affairs and make us from those who affirm upon obedience to allah subhanallah with the allah and he make us firm and abstaining from that which he forbid now and share with them wealth and and this lifestyle only contributes to all of the evils that are consistent in the communities witnesses practice it only contributes to the evils that are consistent in the communities where this is practiced meaning yet the barometer is set so high in certain places that if you do not achieve the boundaries that are set or the limitations or what is to be successful in that society people resort to all types of evil things i just left federal prison many men are being warehoused for chasing their desires you have some that are there unjustly but the majority is from chasing their desires silk meaning men wearing silk they take up musical instruments they drink wine and men are satisfied with men and women are satisfied with women subhanallah i remember back in the 90s i used to go to this club called the tunnel in new york city it was one of the most revered clubs every sunday you had to be there like you were not relevant if you were not in the tunnel every sunday and the thing that was most significant about the club was not just the abundance of gathering and congregating for the sake of entertaining our desires the thing that stood out the most was the unisex bathrooms subhanallah the bathrooms were unisex and anyone that attended this club in the 90s can contest it what i'm about to say is so true extremely horrific acts that i know now back then it was normal subhanallah but back then it was normal to see the things that took place in the unisex bathroom meaning you could literally be in a stall next to a woman literally you could see a man and a woman in the store engaging in sex literally you can see women who are extremely intoxicated and incapacitated being taken advantage by several men men being set up and robbed this particular area of the club was the highlight for evil you had those who laid in the cut waiting for a person to get to that intoxicated point where he needed to relieve himself and they will follow him into the bathroom and they would rob or they waited for the woman who threw up or got to the point where she may have drank too much or even some of these individuals would drug them and wait for the reaction so they can follow them and take advantage of them even leaving the club you will see women staggering with strangers men don't even know they lost contact with their friends it came five six girls together now she is somewhere getting dragged into a car by a complete stranger to either be raped or may not never be seen again and i say this to say the thing that united these people was the music whether we want to accept it or not people don't gather into these spaces for a cappella moment thousands of people under one roof just to be talking looking around whatever the case may be the thing that motivated us and intrigued us was whoever was djing that night whoever was spinning the records because it was a good dj that mean that his selection of music was extremely relevant to the release and the people for the people we're supposed to be the ones who are calling those who were ignorant of these consequences to that which is correct in that which is better as i mentioned in the beginning we have the obligation that enjoyment was good and forbid was evil so i asked allah subhanahu with the island to continue to protect us and bestow his mercy and favor upon us ask allah subhanahu what the island to soften our hearts so that we're able to digest and process that which is better for us and better for the betterment of our souls i ask allah to increase us in knowledge that is beneficial so that we can navigate through all of the pitfalls and ills that we face in the societies that we live in i asked allah subhanahu wa the islam to open our hearts to sound advice sincere advice and do not rebel and reject i asked allah to make us from those who when they see it evil they walk past it with dignity unless allah subhanahu wa continue to preserve and protect those who allah has favor with knowledge so when we do decide to return back it was correct that the early man of islam and the scholars of the sunnah are still there to aid and assist us in our ignorance
