hey everyone welcome back to the dixie emilio early late night whatever show it is actually the first time we were filming this show late so the title makes sense and i'm here today with pop singer dylan francis how are you so gonna be here welcome thank you um so basically what we do i'll ask you some questions you can answer if you want and then we could switch it around later you could ask me some questions perfect what's your favorite color i see i was like i was super into red when i was younger but now i'm more of a blue blue i mean i feel like those are the two like main ones yeah so what do you do um a llama pop singer um i'm a music producer and a dj and um a writer as well i guess i'm kind of like one of those uh those people that is a multi-hyphenate that you would see in like an instagram bio like a lawyer as well i could do your taxes if you wanted yeah you won't do them you want to no you perform yes where nowhere right now right now yeah right now i haven't been performing anywhere we i was doing live streams uh for a bit but yeah right now there's nowhere to perform because there's no live shows what was your last performance um i was i was probably vegas because i used to have a resident well i mean i still have a residency in vegas at the wind but right now it's on hold because of covid yeah cool you have all the questions right up here yeah i'm just making them up as it goes i like it i like it i mean it's just super casual it's cash cash you know we're chilling where's your favorite place to like perform uh coachella for sure i've actually done coachella four times wow yeah would you say coachella has the best audience yes that's probably gonna be very there's gonna be a lot of people in the comments really pissed off that i said that but yeah coachella has like one of the best audiences ever have you had like international yeah yeah i've done uh reading and leads over in the uk um a bunch of like tomorrowland tomorrow world tomorrow whatever it else it's called all those in europe then all those yeah cool wait you're from connecticut yeah no way is he joking no that's one of my favorite places to play really yeah foxwoods oh foxwoods casino have you been to mohegan sun he was he was asking me about that now i haven't mohegan son is fun actually i heard foxwood it's better it's insane it's insane yeah connecticut's crazy we don't have much so that's why it's so insane that actually might be one of the best crowds as well no joke shout out connecticut they know how to party but i feel like it's connecticut in boston because so many people come from boston to go to foxwoods for that for the shows what's your craziest like show experience i mean foxwoods is great because there's a lot of champagne being poured on people one time we took a uh the girl wanted this to happen okay [Laughter] we had one of the what are they called the um the cryoguns and so we shot the cryogun and poured champagne in front of the cryogun so it was like a super soaker cryogun of champagne blasted into this person's face that's fun um and yeah the weirdest things also as since we're on the subject of uh foxwoods connecticut and um people there that see this um one time i was in new orleans at a bar and some random girl came up to me and was like hey i've seen you like videos of your shows in connecticut like i've always wanted a champagne shower can you give me one hmm so we went to the back of the bar and i gave her a champagne shower that's fun and the best thing is that she had no change of of clothes oh she was just at a bar randomly and saw me and was like yeah that's what i want to do tonight i want to ruin the rest of my night and just get champagne poured all over me i feel like that's like one of those things someone is like oh if i ever meet this celebrity i'm gonna say this or do this and she actually did it she did it she went full full send yeah yes she did has there ever been a time where you couldn't finish a show for some reason um i was guided to ask this question that's a good question yeah so this is a good story um i my friend and i had been drinking a lot that day a lot of water of course a lot of water um that had vodka in it and um and uh i used to play on serato which is this computer program where you can load up the decks with songs from your computer and i started having that problem where you have to close one eye you know you're texting you have to close one eye to be able to see like where the letters are so that was happening i can imagine oh okay yeah it's true my bad um anyways so there's this this thing that happens to you where you're looking at your phone and you can't really click the right things so this is in front of a live audience um uh i think i was the last person playing that night as well the song started running out and i couldn't see the next song to play at all so the song ran out and i'm looking at my friend and i'm like i'm too drunk i can't talk and he looks back at me and he was on the mic the whole time he's like i'm too drunk now i can't talk so we're just sitting in front of this crowd it's dead silent and people are just like confused on what's happening um luckily i just immediately started playing another song that i had no idea what it was it was probably an r b song or something it was it was really bad um but everyone thought it was a joke luckily the next day so no one actually thought that i was as messed up as i was um was anyone mad no really which was yeah very odd because you know they paid to see that it was uh at this festival i don't think the festival exists anymore but it was up in uh you know it doesn't matter some upstate new york festival it used to be a big festival and i did that so that's really irresponsible it was extremely irresponsible and i i haven't done that since good thank you i'm cold wow do you have like a signature on every song you do like a little like i used to i used to have a little coin sound that would drop out in every breakdown and i kind of stopped using it i should probably use it i don't know i i should probably start using it again i feel like that's so cool when people have like their thing yeah oh that's this person's song well recently i've started having the same snare on all the songs that i have so i think that's going to start or like a like a dylan kind of thing do you want to do it for me i can record it yeah dylan can i record that on every song let me just let me just open up my uh my recorder dylan perfect that better be on the next one yeah that's so good that'll be on the next one right at the beginning dylan so you have a new song yeah be somebody be somebody featuring evie irie okay well like i released a song called be happy and i just feel like you kind of like i was biting you yeah a little bit like the bee yeah like come on i could no no that's i can see that but you know mine's about being somebody and if you're listening to my song and you're becoming that somebody then you'll be happy so like what i was actually trying to do was get it so that when people playlist our songs together it goes be somebody in to be happy because you're becoming that somebody to be happy so you did steal my idea is what we're saying here a little bit i would i would agree to disagree oh no my parents are home oh no i'm so sorry hey queen hi this is my friend dylan hi dylan hi how's it going how's it going dylan nice to meet you dylan nice to meet you hey babe hey how are you it's my friend dylan hey what's up dylan what's going on in the house here man just doing a little talk show thing cool talking showing it's the early late night talk show yeah he knows you're not interrupting wait dad come here come on come over here so my dad actually dj'd at his college he dj'd at a bar he likes he loves to talk about it so you guys hear it you know early late 80s just got got behind the turntables and just picked it up and you know i mean packed houses we'd have 30 40 50 people there that's packed man you know he played like coachella yeah that's cute but like i'm talking about huskies university of connecticut circa 89 i i think one time we had like 45 people look one night the windows got foggy it was so packed wow see that's amazing yeah so what's this coachella you're talking about that's cute it's this big music festival with um you know hundreds of thousands of people oh in there and you you i played one time probably like 40 years at college uh yeah yeah you know how many people was that at college was probably 45 and coachella is probably 45 000. [Laughter] iraqi that's awesome he has property in las vegas really i don't just lie to you what do you have i have a residency over there oh yeah at the wind really yeah oh that's awesome let me know anytime you want to come well i mean when covet stops yeah we're not doing that yeah we're not going to go right now because i don't want to touch anything i think yeah okay bye how did i get into this thing nice to meet you too so what was like your turning point in your career my turning point my career was um i made this song uh and i played it for one of my friends in the car and i didn't tell him it was mine and he was blown away by it like he was like what is this oh my god i've never heard anything this good and i was like oh cool it's me actually and he's like bull i was like no i swear it's me and so that night i uploaded the song to soundcloud and i sent it to my manager at the time and i said hey could you try to pass this along to diplo and so he's like yeah sure um so he passed it along to diplo because i'd heard he was really into this this music that i made which was moomaton and then that night um he emailed me back and he's like yo diplo emailed me back and said that he was really enter into it and um and then i went on to twitter and sent him a message because i saw that he started following me and i was like hey i heard you really like the song and then that night he was like do you want to come to the studio so i went to the studio and i ended up like watching the phillies lose um and getting in the studio with him like that night and that was where i was like okay i can finally go back to my parents and be like hey i can stop living in the back house now i think i'm gonna get a career out of this yeah that's awesome that's awesome congrats thank you you're doing very well so i'm gonna let you be the host okay you can come send them nice chair okay this one's actually heated seats perfect and back massager okay cool you left this on your chair oh this is nice okay what's up guys welcome to the dylan francis be somebody show it's about being somebody so we're gonna ask dixie here some questions about how she became who she wanted to be um so what was the turning point in your career um it was just the day my sister downloaded tick tock i knew i could clout chaser to the end and it just changed my life that's so sweet i'm crying that's sister love right there like i wish me and my brother had a relationship like that oh he's somewhere out there i think that's on you yeah that's no it is it is um he was not an a mean person to me when i was growing up it's not like he put me in a dog cage and sprayed water on me when we were little oh yeah very traumatizing stuff why did you think i have property in vegas you said residency you live there uh no no that's res a resident so my residency is that i have to play at the club every i have to play a certain amount of times throughout the year gotcha guys i knew that you did i could tell um so has anybody remixed be happy yet yes um but has it been like a dance remix at all like in the edm space no actually okay so why don't i do a dance remix to it i mean you could try but you can i feel like you don't want me to i'm offering my services i mean like i guess i got like one of the biggest remixes for cardi b and you don't want my services yeah you do i would love it i feel like you don't you gotta convince me now i will watch your residency on the days you're not there i bet you can't finish it in a week is that a challenge yes yes that is yeah i'm challenging you one week for a remix of be happy okay what do i get if i win i told you i'll watch your residency okay perfect let's go done in a week i will remix the song in a week or done in a week done in a week you see this right here eye contact with me camera guy yeah you know not not the camera you you're like you're seeing this right okay cool yeah friday the 20th of november i am expecting a live performance of the happy remix by you okay in my backyard in your backyard yes done done awesome okay and i'll watch your vegas house all right so i should go to get started on the remix i'd run i'd run yeah bye queen he was so nice um thank you guys so much for watching bye dylan oh he's back did you finish uh no bye just wanted to make it bye bye yeah bye god okay we'll see if he can get this done in a week for backyard live performance thanks for watching like and subscribe bye [Music]
