we should probably start from the very very beginning like a lot of people are going to be finding you guys and they're showing their parents and they're going to want to know all about your family i've seen some of your guys fans and the amount of information that they have on everything you guys have ever done is wild um but let's just start from the beginning before the days that charlie was everywhere on the 4u page do you remember like how things first exploded a little bit over a year ago my friends started asking me to do tick-tock dances with them and being a dancer i could learn the dances fairly quickly and then teach it to them and then eventually i made my own account and i started posting videos now we're here i guess i don't know it's just like they started to blow up and would you remember the one the first one that blew up yeah the one that went like very viral was a duet with a woman named move with joy and it was an easy dance and i did it on the way to a dance camp like right before i left home and then for a dance camp and i drove an hour and a half with my mom and the notifications just kept coming in there's something so weird about those notifications like i mean you start seeing those notifications and you kind of get like addicted to them right i mean at the time when it was all happening i just was really like nervous i was like i don't know what i did or why this is happening but okay like it was just it was more stressful because i was like what did i do but everyone seemed to be very positive in the comments and i just kind of went with it do you guys remember the first time you saw charlie get recognized you just noticed this this little girl looking at her like oh my gosh when we were in the restaurant and there was the window and the sidewalk and like her and her family walked by and then they came back and they were like so i was like what are they looking at there's no way we're too far from home like no way and then she damned her we're like what is happening when you first started seeing her blow up i mean was it you're her older sister like was it annoying i was embarrassed you're embarrassed that she was i was very embarrassed because like she would do videos and i was like oh this is so cringy because tick tock was always considered cringy right and then i was i got annoyed because it's all my family was talking about and then i was like you know what i'll just do it myself and so i started and i remember there were a couple of videos where you pop in on hers and you guys look a lot alike and it just seemed like everybody lost their mind but like you still can't dance at all and it's been like eight nine months yeah no i i've done a few i've gotten a few it does take multiple days to learn but yeah still being one of the top creators on the app cannot do the main thing people do on the app so as a big sister what was it like seeing seeing so many people commenting on charlie it was very like annoying at first just because i wanted to go back at every single person or like and just be like shut up you're so stupid i actually remember you did like you would go pretty wild in commons at first yes now i don't comment back to anyone but at first it was very hard not to no i look back at some of the comments of those saved videos and i like i attacked some of those people i was like why would you even say this like you know i'm a person i have feelings like i don't remember somebody who do this i would get so defensive and then they'd make another video being like haha charlie commented on my post my losers were like we live in a day and age where like people are using your guys's last name for clout uh and a lot of that comes with bullying of almost like the entire family but mark like how do you deal with that it's tough man it's really anybody that's a parent out there understands when their kids are attacked it's your instinct to just attack back and it's hard and i'm sure people look at me like oh my god why isn't that dad saying anything about it but once you open up that can of worms it just it it escalates and it's not worth it so what about just not letting them be on the app i mean was that ever a possibility yeah just yesterday not from hate just from like school and like not focusing on other stuff i mean there's like what are you gonna do it's still gonna be there for now on the app like might as well just have fun and while we're doing it when you saw your girls just dealing with what looked like every high schooler in america having an opinion on them as a mom what do you do i said the same thing they did and i clapped back a little bit online but we've come a long way and it's like how do you not how do you not defend yourself when people are trying to bring you down yeah people are saying positive things people are hyping you up people are complimenting you but it's like that doesn't even that's not what your eye goes to it goes to when people say what's wrong about you and it's like sometimes it's things that you just can't fix and it's things that you can't control but i mean it just it hurts worse you can get a million positive comments but those five really negative ones they hurt what were the ones that that really hit home for you i think it was the ones probably about my body because i mean growing up a dancer like if you don't look the part and you're too tall too short too skinny too fat too muscular that was my problem i was too muscular so i wasn't a ballerina i couldn't be because that's what they would tell me and i believed it so hearing that from hundreds of people online like it hurts during those days did charlie talk to you guys about what she was going through she tends to just close off and go in her room and doesn't want to talk and cry what do you say right it's like you know we could say hey you know we have perspective from being older so we know that middle school drama high school drama college trauma work drama it all there's drama everywhere and and and life is great and it's always going to go on but basically all we're telling our kids is don't don't pay attention to it there's not there's not much more you could do than that and it doesn't doesn't do the trick most of the time it's hard not to pay attention to it when you have more followers than like the population of england and like australia and you've got everybody in the country with their eyes on your family if you have followers you're not considered a person you're just the thing that people get to judge and objectify and call names and bully because what are they gonna do they're most of the time they're not gonna see it or i'll say something back i never thought you were gonna see it so it's like they don't expect it to hurt us but if we all do and you're still living a teenage life you're still making mistakes like we all did as a teenager do you stress about that are you like worried that everything you do is gonna hit the internet like you guys have paparazzi following you now right yeah i mean you always have to worry that something from when you were 10 is going to get taken out of context or something that you might regret every single day of your life is put on the internet and you have to relive it they don't really care what you have to say they don't care if you apologize they don't care if you're truly sorry they just want to make you feel bad when your daughters are coming to you with something that they might have done wrong but is something that the world has already seen like what what goes through your mind um i just just support they're gonna they're gonna feel it more than most and the last thing they need is their parents down their back about it support we got it don't worry about it we love you what about for decisions that they're making today that's different like right like like your petition for the whop dance i love cardi b i love megan the stallion the dance that was made up to that audio in yeah i mean for me i don't want my 16 year old doing that on the internet she did do it she didn't post it but she did it and she wanted to learn the choreography and she did it really well really good it really was so one of the things that one of the things that you guys get flamed for all the time is like the sexually suggested lyrics and and things that are too racy and the fact that you have a lot of 14 year olds 15 year olds 12 year olds that follow you guys and see you as role models um do those how do those conversations work does charlie just post something or do you do you guys talk about it beforehand or is it a nice little family dinner discussion she she'll come to us and say should i post this what do you think should i post it i don't know i'm nervous should i post it like if you're feeling that you have your own answer like because once it's out there it's out there and then you can't take it back so if you're having those feelings already and you haven't posted it then you shouldn't do it and then there's something she doesn't she posted i'm like you didn't and she just does it and some things we make her take down but for the most part she has good judgment the stuff that you got into as a teenager compared to the stuff that you see your daughter's getting into how does it compare it's not even close to what happened when when we were kids and if they're and that's why people may look at us sometimes and think we turn a blind eye i'm just like it's under a microscope if every if every person if every parent that's looking at heidi and i and say how could you let that like let's open up your middle school life to the public in your high school life to the public it's just everybody is there there's definitely my kids have not done anything that i'm ashamed of that i'm embarrassed by what's been your proudest moment where you saw your girls and you're like all right they're on the right track you know i think that um for dixie when she started a new school she was always always fearless but seeing her high school come back and graduation was was huge with charlie it's seeing her handle this and i'd like you know there's the there's a part of me the ego that wants to take credit for her poise and grace and stuff it she's what you see i'm sure there's some influence by probably more heidi than myself there were times that i would question how she handles a certain situation and she's she gets it right 99.9 of the time you're still kind of in school you're 16 so i do one-on-one online school got it and then are you going to bama still no sadly no you're not going to bama just i was still planning on going but with traveling back and forth which i would have to a lot it just wasn't worth it because then i have to quarantine and then i would be putting people at school in danger and people in my home in danger so it was just easier if i stayed home is college like on the on the back burner for now i think so but i do want to go to school i want to go to college but maybe here so much attention has been on charlie for a long time and then when dixie's music video and song was released like did you guys see a shift in in the family dynamics at all she she was like beating kanye and travis scott it was i think it was awesome because first of all i didn't have to do anything while she was working on the music and i was just happy to play my bed and watch tv for days and it was like everyone got to see dixie's more than just someone who tries to do tick-tock dancing she can sing and she's athletic and she's talented and she's cool i think you were happy about it because you didn't really happy like there were i there were days i would work all day and charlie wouldn't do anything i was like how do you have all these followers and you're laying in bed all day it was great charlie do you look up to dixie in a lot of ways i remember like when i was younger i don't know if i can say this but like people used to say that i was the ugly sister or i was the fat sister like that's what people would say to me and i always wanted to be like just like dixie because she always seemed like she was so happy and she just she had so many friends and like at this point in our lives like we weren't that close so we didn't talk often and we especially didn't talk about our feelings and then once we started going to high school together and we drove to school together every day we just got to like talk and talk about everything and i feel like i was able to learn so much about her and so much about who she is and be able to look up to her even more when it comes to your little sister she's most followed people on planet earth but she's still your little sister does she act like a little sister yes um i find her very annoying sometimes but i do look up to her because she handles everything very well because i know when i was 15 i would not be able to do anything that she's doing well 16 now but still i wouldn't like you do a lot for your age and i think that's really cool it's really cool to have to see my daughters have such an incredible impact on so many kids and also parents i mean that's that's really cool too when the parents come up and say you know my daughter follows you but we follow your whole family and and we love what you're doing and and it's just great that we're making a positive impact and it's great that my daughters are making a positive impact with so many people what have you seen your dad do since this whole crazy tick-tock thing that's made you proud i think there's a lot of things that he does that makes me extremely proud to say that he's my dad because no matter what he's always the first person to think about other people and yeah we can do this but how can we help other people dixie what do you see in your mom i just i see a lot i think she like knowing where she grew up it's not a big thing to move out of your state and she made a very big jump to move to new york when she was young and i think that's what has made all of this so easy and them trusting us to make big jumps in our lives by doing switching to online school or moving out to la or coming out to la on their own because she's done that and i'm just grateful how supportive her and my dad were with everything like even not just with tick tock but with everything we've ever done they're always letting us try things out and watching charlie kind of follow in your footsteps as a dancer i mean you know a little bit about that what's it like seeing her grow up she's the kid that's always in the back of the class okay charlie go in the front so you can see no no no she's not she's confident but you know everybody has their insecurities i think even the best dancers have things about them that is tough and it's hard to work through that but she uses dance to get through her emotions so to see people on these apps say she's not a real dancer i don't care how technically amazing you are you put the work in and you grow you're a good dancer that's it now on twitter a lot of your guys's fans have questions i think one of the first ones i saw was who is the most dramatic no contest no who loves the spotlight well like you don't love it you're just good at it yes you're good at the best at it he gets embarrassed by it who hates the spotlight the most really and all right and and charlie she really hates it i'm like oh i'll just sit in the back i don't like stepping out of my comfort zone and this is so out of my comfort zone and sometimes i just want to be like back at my home studio and like just dancing and competing and doing all the normal things but then it's like i also love all the stuff so i go back and forth but ultimately like i'm super happy and appreciative for everything that i think we're both pretty good just because we're so good with the flow right like i like fast moving things and structure and schedules yeah i don't planners what do you like the most about about all the changes that you guys have been going through i think we've just gotten closer that's what i wrote the times i'm sorry the thing that you like the most about being famous is that you're closer as a family yeah it's like we know we can rely on each other for anything and we have each other's backs no matter what it's like no matter like friends sometimes come and go and like people come and go but like you have your family with you forever and especially with like us we got even closer than we were before which i didn't think was possible and we've all like matured the internet treats us like adults our parents are treating us like that so i feel like it's made our relationship a lot better but then we can also like still be kids yeah you probably paid them to say that that brought you guys all together no but it makes things so much easier because i look at the kids who move out here and i'm like i i say this all the time like if i if i'm ever summer and i see someone like i'm so glad i live with my parents because i just know if i came out here by myself like i could just easily be influenced by stuff i mean my parents raised me well but la is a very tricky place and people get sucked in but being around my parents and my family keeps me so grounded and i still sleep home we still like tell our parents if we're leaving yeah like do you guys like that yeah i mean it keeps us like insane and normal you've never snuck out um what to go to a girl's house to hang out with two people and i got grounded for a month and never did it again what was this i don't remember what about what about post-famous you've never snuck out post-famous i want to do it once you want to you're going i just want to do it once what's the what's the one thing you guys miss the most about life before this going out and looking bad you do that yeah but like now people take pictures and i feel embarrassed after i miss school like high school i wish i mean obviously no one gets to do that right now but i loved going to school and seeing people every day so how about you mark do you miss anything from before i look at it as just an adventure so and we can always go back at my age i'm excited about like this whole thing and famous side business aside it's just cool man it's like you don't a lot of people don't all sudden get to when i we lived in my hometown where i grew up and you know heidi and i were talking about maybe some time moving where are we going to retire and then boom also we're plucked out of so there's not much i i miss yet and it's also kind of new like we'll see a year from now or two years from now when we're not in connecticut as much or not in connecticut at all or new york as much what we miss so do you you said we could always go back have you ever thought about just going back yeah going just pulling the plug on the whole thing oh my gosh every time okay we just got over this it's a joke now but every time we would be like complain about a little thing he'd be like then we'll move back to connecticut it's okay it's olympia it's fine but we just got over that and we were like dad you go zero to a hundred and you need to stop he's like yeah he's like now it's a joke and he's like because we can't really move back to connecticut we're going to arkansas if things got crazy if you decided that that this was too much would you guys be okay with just going back to how it was yeah yeah that's how we did it before i mean i feel like it would be hard for a couple years but yeah is there still an adventure that you guys want to do something i i mean charlie you said that you wanted to be a backup dancer for j.lo and i'm pretty sure you're homies with jlo now so what's next on the bucket list to go to bora bora and be friends with megan the stallion anything on your bucket list i miss the garden what is that on your bucket list is just having i just wanna yeah i wanna get good at it i feel like i i have some work to do but you guys have like ungodly amounts of money now and you can do all kinds of stuff and you you just wanna garden it's so fun it's hard and i'm not great at it so i want to get better so that and traveling one of the things that people see on your account and on the millio family account that makes you like feel like like everybody knows you guys is those videos of charlie sitting on your lap as like a five-year-old or dixie like running or doing motocross like do you you miss those days yeah i mean there's there's part of it like every part of the life is of like when they were toddlers that was cool right but then when they started to be able to when they started have personalities that was cool so and it's great like will sometimes one of the coolest things about this whole ride with tick tock is digging up those old videos and actually like i remember them like they were yesterday but charlie doesn't remember them because she was so young so the fact that we have them to say you know and and heidi always say oh my god you and your dad used to do this you and your dad used to do that and she was 15 and and you know most 15 year olds don't want anything to do with their dad at that point and then they come back around later but so i don't miss them i cherish them can anything break up the demilio family i think no we would walk away from this before that happened for sure you
