[Applause] [Music] what's up youtube world always wanted to do that oh here we are great my son watches these youtubers yeah they are so annoying hey what's up youtube what's up youtube world it's wednesday the 27th we're going to cover those other digitech photos you were never going to buy anyway yeah all right let's look at the table here let's let's check it out we got a chewbacca got 100 bill that's not real and we specifically have three digitech pedals that are being focused on we have duplicates of the distortion factory we're going to give this away which we forgot to plan for we'll do it though we'll give this away and i don't know how and we'll figure it out it'll be sometime for those who hang around and are loyal to the stupidity of our show you have a chance to win this this is just a digitech x-series delay it is in chinese uh to the point i have to have a cheat sheet to understand what's going on chorus factory the cf7 and then we have the df7 which we uh apparently made a very controversial video about unknowingly to our purpose of the video uh we'll talk about that for a second and then we have this pedal which is also uh i've never had this on a board and i've honestly never owned this which one's that uh the chorus factory i i've had this in the room for probably two years just collecting digitech full lines i had this on a board as i said and this one i've used way more i used to carry this in a gig bag and i would throw it down at the front of a board so that i could have an easy easily accessible whammy sound and also a wah and i would at times use the space station mode that's from this uh pedal so we're going to talk about this and the reason we have this other giveaway unit there's kind of a secret menu feature of the df7 which i talked about and we'll use it on this so if you look back at the board this pedal is going to be hooked up and never on let's jump back to the board here there we go this pedal is going to be used as a cab sim um now that's kind of a hidden feature that people don't talk about no one really mentions per se so we're going to use it like that if i turn it on of course it's the distortion but i'm going to use it just for the cab sims and model 1 is a 65 deluxe reverb 112. mode 2 is a marshall 412. you have a johnson 412 which was john johnson's brand as a digitech amp basically a basement 212 is mode 4. i'll probably leave it on the basement 212 then you have another johnson of vht and then a marshall with greenback so just like you saw us play this different distortion pedals right these these pedals well when you have it off and you use the mixer output you have cab sims now this is way before strymon this is way before anyone and it's really good it's really good so let me play through this i guess we'll start there yeah how's everybody doing we're doing good let's let's go around everybody it's been i think we haven't said is that it's been a while since we've done a live with all of us here it actually has it's been a solid two weeks so how's your life nick i mean things going well good you know great fantastic you're in a graphic t-shirt i've never seen that i have do you guys want to see my t-shirt yeah i want to see it show hold on let me move my microphone so we can properly see this yeah let me see it stand up bam baby i got the pedal on my pedalboard to be the strange uh unspoken spokesperson michael jordan is to wheaties as you are to the crook yep at this point shouldn't it be the other way michael jordan needs to win addison is to the crook what michael jordan yeah yeah michael you know anyways i'm doing good i have a new graphic tee and it says the crook on it go buy a crook from poison noises that's uh joshua how are you doing over there i'm doing really good um i'm also wearing a graphic tee which is not abnormal it's very cool um i went to their show on friday and it was seriously probably the most fun i saw a video of you dancing i already did i danced the night away like seriously there's a video circulating in our internal chat program oh i know you were dancing there was a moment where it was like i knew my favorite song was coming up and so i was looked at the crowd and thought who can i dance with and i saw a group of like 20 year old dudes and i was like you guys and so i just went over bumped them and we all just it's a good time it's amazing so all right let's look down at this this is just cab the cab sim hack before we do this yeah let's talk about this episode okay all right i don't read comments much anymore because it's just insanity i enjoy them i gaze through them you all show me it's it's great this episode spawned insane reposts like it went to 125 000 views in a couple days two years it was so it had some uh we it had the heat on it yeah yeah yeah and there's this sentiment about what we call this anyone want to start this off it's it says i feel like the language that's used is that somehow we have this plot like where these right like like we've plotted there are comments that claim that i bought a bunch of these yes put the episode put the episode out to rese do i have time to do this no no one does we we own a total of you all ready for this two df7s and one of them one of them today one of you people are going to get today and larissa owns one personally and she's not getting rid of it and she's not no she she loves so there's there's no insider trading no this is and also like a lot of the other comments are like mad that we drove the prices up supposedly as if people were like you know what this friday i'm gonna buy a df7 and it's like you weren't no none of you guys were going to buy dfc so like and daniel danger messes yes on mark and we're talking and he's laughing and he's like not a single person was going to buy this pedal no but when you read the comments i have ruined their life yeah from buying the df7 nobody cared nobody wanted it yeah some people were charging three four or 500 bucks first of all number one that doesn't mean they're selling number two that's true chill the junk out and wait number three i saw one today for two hundred dollars sell it's already going down yeah i say all the time for that much money don't buy a pedal if it's too expensive you don't go house shopping and pay 40 million dollars for a house you don't you you know i'm not elon musk i might you might i actually did it i hacked the internet and was like you know what i'm gonna do i wanna trash josh and nick's lives nice so i'm gonna hack the internet and make every df7 three hundred dollars wow so thanks for doing this so it was you you did it okay the point is we just i just showed this pedal because i i remember we needed to actually film a quick episode this is what's funny yeah this happens this happened with behringer it's just like we put a lot of thought into certain episodes i study a lot of stuff i do phone calls interviews write scripts this was like hey i'm really burned out this week it's hard let's film something we call them like easy episodes like a burner like a light lift a light lift episode and i was like hey i used to have this pedal on the board it's super cool and i love that i kind of thought about you know i did the muffler the banza in the background i was like there's this weird thing like i never thought about that was the similar thing way before and that was fun to me so we filmed this episode in three hours or something like that and then we put it up and it's like people act like there's some master plan here we just like i just wanted to show it yeah but so that's my defense the other thing to remember too is the the alternate option okay this is like how i would talk to my children okay and i don't mean to be condescending but i'm gonna be for just a second but it's for everybody's good it's like there are two options we can have fun episodes or we can just go home yeah that's what our options let's see options we can have fun episodes and we can tell you about pedals that you didn't know were cool or we can just go home and i have no problem loading up the family turning and turning get in the swagger wagon and go home i got lots of stuff to do yeah it's like this room this room has around 4 000 pedals yeah and probably 60 of them not no one knows what they are or remembers them or cares yeah so in that sense just buckle up yeah i mean if you're gonna complain and like i mean i'm fine i'm an adult and i've moved on past this but it is like slightly annoying that people think there's some agenda right and i just want to clear the air and go whatever yeah people got to remember this is what this youtube channel is about you're teaching this like thing or you're showing this you know thing that was a piece of history that's what the youtube channel is about yeah it's amazing yeah yeah okay connor i feel good connor says this is a huge dad speech and he's here for it well i i that is what it feels like he's here for it though so this is yeah this is surprise absolutely yeah i needed to clear the air for 14 minutes and we did that let's go over the cab center let's go over it all right down to the pedal board let's see let's just let's take our time and go through here's the 65 deluxe reverb [Music] right right here let me make sure so when this light is on blue that's my basement over there so yeah this is uh the amp right the amp we use on every episode big fender circuit now this is this so basement and here's the 65 deluxe reverb that is a very good cab sim for a pedal that the tag says 69.99 whatever it was about 86 after shipping you got it from music around or something i did just to give away just to give away we bought it just to give away i mean we did yeah my dad's speech needs to end all right number two you have a marshall 412. yeah it has the thing it has the there's the fender open open back clear top in when you go to the closed back 412 you have that like strange like woolen a giant nose and a cardboard box which is awesome when you add like [Music] did um am i mistaken or did david ryan harris used no not david ryan harris was it him or was it yeah he's used the ex for years okay yeah like on so many mayors yeah the x7 has been on it's amazing which also blows my mind but this has that cab sim feature too yeah it does the cf7 as well i don't think the cf does i'm not positive someone might know in the comments so mode three is a johnson 412 um so these are just different forms of a 412. you know they both sound pretty similar it'd basically be like moving the mic honestly this is the basement of this pedal so obviously this is more of an open back thing that we normally use this would be a true basement on the 212 fender cab and i think this is accurate it's darker and it's more closed it sounds great again if i go here put on the ts9 [Applause] [Music] you know play some cold shots you get the idea then we have another john now we have the v no this is another johnson 412 so there's three 412s then we have a vht412 the 90s really loved 412 caps and then everyone's back got injured and nobody does anymore that one's nice i like that more than any of them yeah and then mode 7 is a marshall 412 with specific greenback speakers and it represents it pretty well it's more mids etc etc etc [Applause] [Music] so tube screamer into that neck pick up now someone might be saying that sounds weird well guitar does sound weird straight through the mic usually like like if you're over analyzing this so we should jam and you'll see what we're getting about it's it'd be technically missing your amplifier section right but even still it's assuming the tones before it right but that's what's happening with any of these can you explain that for a second well that's if you buy a strymon iridium or a walrus whatever are you you know which one of those are you getting the ant portion which are you not a lot of speaker sim cab sims are not giving you an ant like one of my favorites is the gfi stuff it doesn't give you a name right and it just assumes what's in front and it's like amp neutral and these are used on thousands of boards i don't know if the iridium it's over there by you nick i don't it doesn't matter the iridium is an amp sim i think it has an amsterdam in it yeah so so and the point again is if i turn this on i'm in the mixer out so like here's the tube streamer with the 65 deluxe reverb that sounds really good sounds like very very good and i would dare to say if you need an amp and you want to play direct like let's say you're playing in like church or something or playing at a small club and you're stuck in this world of i don't want to pay 500 for like these crazy expensive new ir sims and all this i mean look you just turn the tube screamer on back the gain off mess with your eq that's a great amp sound we're literally going into if you can see it here just a radial direct box that is my guitar tone right here [Applause] so if i go up to uh dod 250 yeah it's just that's kind of their purpose i think you could even go a little crazier with that and add something like a wompler ramp in a box a super bolt charlie brown it gives you that amp feel so i will on all of today's jams i'll have this here for reference this is what you normally hear on every episode everything [Music] [Applause] gonna play this that's that's this sound uh 65 deluxe i'm just going to leave it on and that's my amp the whole time so we'll go from there love it cool jam yeah is there any questions about the amp sim no love it i love no questions it means that there's nothing to ask that is what that means it's deep yeah so let's let's uh so i have a delay here i will set this up [Music] and i'm like translating [Music] oh that's the here let's go into the distortion factory and i'll pull up a rat and we'll play a rat through the 65 deluxe simulation and i'll do the bridge pickup so if i'm [Music] it sounds really good it's crazy if you're watching and you have a df7 just say i got one in the comments i'm just curious how many people are watching you have one so rap mode [Music] [Applause] start a beat man let's go for it i'll mute my mic let's just jam [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] it sounds really good sounds super good [Music] that to me sounds in the jam like in playing i've played fender amps for like a couple decades and that's a rat and that's what it sounds like i mean i don't you can sit here and nitpick over stuff yeah it looks like a weird piece of carbon that should be in a bed of a truck but yeah i don't know it's it works they're kind of uh it's kind of acting as camouflage against the mono metal board there oh my gosh this is weird it's a bit hard to see it is actually it like super matches conspiracy theory this mono material is left over from all they throw away yeah wow it's funny because it's you know i don't know from just personally like the petals aesthetic is like i don't like it like it's not a very good looking petal sure which also kind of camouflages it from people probably wanting to try it because i think this i think we we may have even made an episode or several like uh just about ugly pedals that are cool and i think that we need to we haven't we've talked about it i think that's a thing maybe like to take away from this whole thing is it's people are you know getting upset about the price getting jacked up it's like well maybe you should just go on reverb and just go find the ugliest pedal you can find today and buy it it might be the coolest thing you've ever heard yeah because there's there's a lot of companies who have a grasp on aesthetic like yeah like an aesthetic thing like a holistic thing which is good aesthetic amazing sound circuit and there's some that don't there's some that have amazing aesthetic stuff and they're kind of unusable maybe right to whoever each zone and then there's some that are like some of the most brilliant circuits i've ever seen and the pedals don't look that great so yeah yeah you can be the type of person that buys a pedal because it looks great and i think that's fine sure i there's things that i'll put on my board because they just it's fun yeah and i think it's but this is a great example it's like a case study on well fake carbon didn't really you know didn't really grab anybody's attention so we understand the distortion factory and i'm not gonna rehash those things i'll stay on a rat most likely and i might play the tube stream or something so which one do you want to go to next oh chorus yeah okay um are the pedals someone asked this and i don't really understand this question so i hope you all do um it's not it's not who asked it it's me are the pedals good as inserts for the drums oh these would be amazing i would think um what does that mean i think what they're just talking about is could you use them as drum effects um i i don't know i can try i can just try stuff i need that as a stinger i mean to tell you honestly like the distortion factory to be able to set have this in a drum rig and go tube scream or a rat alone on drums oh yeah well and i think probably that has a and bass that has a bit of a talk about bass more hefty eq on it right very much so that's honestly one of the biggest things with pedals and drums that i've struggled with is not just not having enough eq because drums just have like a w you have a it's like a whole different plate of spaghetti so it's like being able to have a rat but then have way more eq to have a big mouth on drums with three tone control yeah like i should try it yeah yeah well now that we've raised the price this prizes too bad that's what that feels like to me yeah yeah yes that's the captain beefheart song that is that's the one what's it gonna say hold on hold on i know it's captain beefheart but is it also captain b fart no no no are we sure i know it's captain let's move on to the chorus factory who which we have not covered which is worthy of its own episode but let's just look at it turn it on first of all and mode one is the digitech multichorus which is from the same series as like this so not a big deal like it's a digital chorus that's i'll just say any of the digitech time-based effects are all baller they're all amazing this x series is possibly the most underrated pedal line in existence like the reverb the digital reverb it's like a teal aqua green unreal good and nobody talks about it so i said it go buy one they're still cheap no no no they're not just you know what i'm saying so this this is a good old classic one of their courses so then we go to number two and it's the voodoo lab analog course which is in my basement but it's voodoo lab has a two knob take on a ce2 which is phenomenal so this is the analog chorus mode it's realness and you know there's these secondary parameters [Music] yeah you can tweak all day the third is the tc this is this this alone is pretty epic the tc uh stereo chorus blah blah blah blah legendary which is a bit of a flanger over a chorus in most modes but it has a nice like vibrato thing let's see [Music] it's that wormhole flange i feel like this could be the comment where i just it's like good night everyone i'm gonna play the cf7 yeah this is the tc we need to reach out to the call now this is a flanging mode um that's really nice you'll notice the sound of milkshakes children laughing deer in the distance wow it's kind of relaxing to do this it is really relaxing i want to fall asleep have you had a hard day i have is your boss just riding your back he really is i wish he'd just leave me alone get lost in the sounds of the cf7 chorus factory next next up is the of course that i love the coral flange um man this is like a lost this is it's funny to see that they put it in here because at the time it was like greatest chorus ever this is all we ever want you never like just dropped off the face of the earth i don't actually think i've ever looked at one this is a case study in how things are trendy yeah yeah like this is so obscure now but in the time it was like everyone had to have this this is a really great chorus flanger a bucket brigade horseflanger so [Music] yeah i don't know the parameters for control one two three [Music] the only song i've ever heard that says placenta oh yeah who sings this song again live bro that's right ed if you're watching great song opens her eyes you know the next line pale blue colored eyes we're gonna get flagged my first car wreck was to that song i was driving down a two-lane country road from belgrade to hodges alabama on highway 187 listening to lightning crashes my cd wallet binder fell in the floor i reached down the rabbit and i drove through like a ravine through a barbed wire fence that gouged my car and then i slammed on the brakes and my hood came off the wind caught it and the battery came out and there was just cows all around me and the ignition stayed on the battery's like hanging off and lightning crashes is playing and i got to tell this to ed the live guy oh my god that sounds like a scene from like a really dramatic wb show yeah no it was very dawson's totally but it was like country boy alabama white ford tempo like cows and then lightning crashes all right uh real quick real quick ryan price said that he wanted to thank jhs for keeping him sane while in medical exile for the last five months no joke jhs helped my heart transplant so whoa hey that's so cool thanks your name i'm so glad i'm so glad gear can be so therapeutic and fun and it's always good that's really cool so this is mode five and it's a super chorus which is just a stock boss battle but but hey is that the ch1 yeah that's one of my favorite course pedals i've recently discovered it's so good if you want just like yes this is the chorus when i was at a cure sound check i go to robert smith's rig i'm standing there and he has one and then he has a second one gaff taped always on setting on his aunt hello like it's dude that's amazing he's like no this is just always like that's that's what you got and then we have uh the small clone which is an ehx classic we're about to give away a box of strings as well and we're giving away this pedal if you just tuned in but we're just taking it to chilton we're taking it [Music] so this is technically the come as you are chorus [Music] i never played that right but it's fine kurt's okay with it [Music] wasn't it did they do that on base is it on base i think it's even on the drums it's on the drums too let's see and then we have another boss pedal the ce5 which is it has the filter thing that's so interesting again this is anything you would need mod wise let's do a jam yeah and then we'll go to ernie ball trivia time and then we're going to give away a box of strings we're giving this pedal away which i'm not sure how we're doing that yet you'll just have to stay tuned because ride the wave with us and uh we also have a guest coming on later so jhs show live ride the wave let's do some like uh bullcrap shoegaze in b [Music] oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] [Music] [Applause] ah [Applause] i realized that that's basically what the first game was too oh yeah well that's okay it's like a series it's like a concept like i could be in a band with these like i'm serious like a couple of three pedals here i love that it's so good that jam kind of like gave me like a weird feeling in my in my tummy yeah but it like kind of reminded me of something okay i think it reminded me of earning ball trivia time hi everyone welcome to ernie ball trivia time we're going to ask a trivia question about ernie ball about ernie ball and if you get the question right you get an entire box of strings that's like 10 sets not a pack not a pack i used to say pack it's like 10 and if you get a base you can choose base you can choose bet you get whatever you want acoustic yeah man nobody plays mandolin but you could banjo did they do i asked this last time do they do banjo strings they do everything everything you can get whatever you want if it's a string and they make it you can get a whole box of them so um if you're ready we're gonna ask the question and if you get it right if you're the first one in our chat with the correct answer hold on okay yeah go ahead if you're the first person to answer correctly in my right there you go we had to close it hits our server i got a lot of angry emails the internet is a vast organism it really is and we're a small part and we're just doing our best we are in kansas city and if it doesn't get to us before the other person it's not our fault it's true we also have the worst internet on the entire planet i also got a few emails when i said that i was like hey it's actually a server thing there were a few guys that were very kind and understandable that's cool but there were a few that were not that's rare that is rare thanks for being kind of understanding we're not jaded no all right here's the question if y'all are ready get your typing fingers out uh what alloy did ernie ball use to create a dynamic low end crisp highs and harmonic response between pickup magnets and strings one more time what alloy did ernie but wait oh wait hold on what alloy did ernie ball use to create a dynamic low end crisp highs and harmonic response between pickup magnets and strings three your answer in the chat i often wonder yeah when copy is written and someone says crisp highs is that the crispiness we experience biting into like lettuce is that what they're talking about is anyone with me there's total silence in the room sorry i was writing down the winner's name say again crisp highs what is what is why do we say crisp well because if you think about it when something is high its brain is not crispy but iceberg lettuce is crispy well i picture like like a like a 90s wendy's commercial where they're like never frozen and it's like the patties are falling and the cheese and the pickles bounce and then there's like a le and there's always like a hand with lettuce and it goes like there's like and then like from the from the there's like a water shoots everywhere and it's like oh my god it's so fresh is that what i think it's just high high sounds feel sharp you know interesting we have to have something to like uh you know describe the sound sounds feel i'm glad we settled this i don't know that we did no we didn't so yeah answer the question we have a special guest and they're zooming in so let's do that we welcome uh traction sinclair jackson sinclair how you doing traxton you guys i cannot express just the absolute joy and just profound exhilaration just to be on the show today and to talk about what we're talking about where are you because well it looks like i'm right there with you guys right yeah it looks like you're setting where addison's settings it's amazing but actually where'd you get that this is this is a a background a zoom background that i downloaded off of your guys website wow it's awesome actually i am though i am just hanging out uh in my backyard so um so yeah this is my place thanks for coming on and uh yeah yeah yeah yeah i mean so you're just you're happy bro i i mean i am he i emailed you last night and i said okay i gotta come on the show because never in my life would i have picked up the df7 had the price not skyrocketed the way it did gotcha and honestly just like the one for one sounds with these classic pedals it honestly blows my mind but i never would have experienced it because i would never buy a 60 peso so why would you not buy because we bought 69 this pedal has been available for a little around 20 years so you've had 20 years to buy this pedal and you like it sounds great it always it always sounded this great yeah yeah yeah no i understand and i know like 20 20 years ago that was kind of a rough time for me because i was i was kind of only living off of my dad's money at that time how old are you i had it quite how old was that how old are you i am um i actually legally disclosed my age um it's like been redacted from all documents um for several reasons is it fair to say you were a child is that fair i was 20 years younger than i am now we can move on yeah so you were young living off your dad's money you saw these and it was like yeah and you know i was driving the rowdy around i was just cruising and you know i would see these in the windows but like and then i saw the price points like when they first came out and i was just like no no yeah pull up the uh addison can you pull up the original df7 ad here yeah yeah the df7 ad 99.95 is what they were when they came out and you get all these yeah no so well how did that feel when you saw that you can pull it down listen it's it's all about it's all about the price for me okay you know it's like the dollar to sound ratio has to has to make sense if it's not above a certain dollar amount the sound just can't because you can't because you just can't you know what i'm saying in your opinion what did you pay recently you you said you told me in the email you said hey i bought a df7 the moment the episode appeared what did you pay because these people started raising the prices what got you okay i paid a solid 900 900 so the math yeah so a sound to you is roughly worth a little over a hundred dollars per sound in a pedal because there's seven modes yes there is the um there's prestige price okay there's sound price um there's flex price okay i've never heard of flex yeah i mean i mean you know what come on okay come on that's fine you know what don't don't play with me on flex price you know i've never heard of express go ahead he's being he's being modest no okay so like to me the sound price is entry level right and what i'm excited about is after this live this just the price continuing to go up really because i want to buy like seven more of these but for just for more more money there's probably some people in the comments that are willing to let some go around the grand so if you're one of those people in the comments just let traxton know yeah so i just want to i just want to thank you for making this episode that purposefully raised the prices okay that's not actually what i do at all i just love this pedal and just showed it it was i didn't intend that all i'm all i'm saying is i'm just grateful that because of what you did the prices are raised and i i do blame it on you do you have any advice for people like yourself out there looking for new pedals uh i would say um aim high shoot high you know the saying is aim high shoot low but why shoot low when you can why why not just do both so and you know high shoot high shoot high tracks and sinclair why would you yeah anyway and don't give these away like okay i am giving i'm gonna give this one away it's sick we paid about 85 bucks from a music girl i'm giving it away don't no don't do that it's been really great having you on the show i'm gonna give this away on this episode josh i'm killing it i'm never coming back on the show if you give that pedal away kill it i'm going to give this i promise for sure okay well uh it's good to see traxton last time we saw him was on the expensive versus cheap panel it's been a while he was a bit of a pill to be i said between him and i don't remember that other guy but t-bone they were something else man let me tell you well he's really into money if you didn't realize he's got a lot of money let's give these strings away who's the winner uh why is it so cold it is freezing in here and i love it um what alloy did ernie ball used to create a dynamic range low end crisp pies and harmonic response between pickup magnets and strings uh the answer is cobalt um and the winner i have it written down here is edible betty edible teddy edible betty you win the box of ernie ball strings if you would please email me at the jhs show at jhp jhspedals.com will have string sent your way hey and if you're not that person don't even think about emailing yeah okay you know i almost almost was gonna get you to chime in here do you remember we went to dinner we flew in we were somewhere in the great lakes doing some filming uh and traxton met us yeah he was at his dad's resort yeah do you remember how he acted to you specifically it was insane he we were ordering dinner he wouldn't let me order anything under 200. everything he ordered and there was one appetizer he really wanted he ordered as many as as it took to get it to 200 right and the thing is is i said tracks my dude if we're gonna be dropping this i can't afford this no because we're just and he said he said verbatim you need to taste what it tastes like to spend two hundred dollars i don't know what that means and i was like it's like he said something kept talking about the taste of two hundred dollars and i was like okay but also no yeah yeah he's a weird guy what's the thing do you know what he's talking like flick flex did he talk flex flex price yeah flex price i mean it's it's literally just it's it's just like i can pay 200 dollars yes brag price okay yeah that's it that's it [Music] well now that we have a winner let's pull up the cf7 advertisement we are gonna do a quick uh we're gonna do a potty break in just a moment because it's a two hour this is hour and a half to two hour episode we're gonna pace ourselves because we're getting older that's true um there we go look at that ad everybody 99.99 the most versatile chorus on the planet and i would say my professional opinion i think it's still and kind of insane impossible to beat can can we pull up on reverb joshua what the cf7 is going for i'm just curious and maybe click sold listings so we can get a actual reality check on the which one stupidity of scalpers a cf7 chorus factory high definition uh so this is the uh what motor is the first one is 299. so people are already raising the prices there's i think i paid uh 75 80 bucks for that when i got it i only see one click sold listings it'll be on the the left side like filter i know how to use the internet that's fine uh 61.59 64.89 60 60. so that's what they're worth i would say they're worth about 100 bucks and there's enough of these that you can find them around i did see a lot of people saying they were finding them locally in stores and stuff so this is a killer pedal let's do one more jam on that and then take a break and we're gonna dive really hard into this which is my favorite well the distortion is my favorite because it's so practical we can kill the ad we'll we'll dive into this after the break and we're gonna give this away let's let's do another let's take it to i just like this mood we're in i feel like i'm talking really slow same and i just it's where i am after that traxton energy too i think it'd be nice to just dial it back i can't handle him no i can't either he's really annoying yeah wow this that is a long delay okay addison um is the df7 your new overdrive tone uh i actually don't have one i should have got one before here's the thing i didn't buy one because i i've been collecting each of the modes i have like a an original of each of the ones and so i thought i'm not i'm gonna let someone else buy the seventy dollar awesome pedal that are now five hundred dollars so it's not my new overdrive tone so i'm gonna play the coral flange here this mode uh and i'm going to use this delay another little secret of this delay that to my memory you can correct me in the comments i actually don't think they advertised that it was tap tempo but you can actually hold this down it's awkward like the ui is not great but it's a tap tempo delay and you can find this again under 100 bucks it's a great delay a lot of great modes so let's do uh let's just keep it where we're at man i'll change the drive we'll go to e minor uh i want to do what do we got here let's do the ds1 mode that everybody hates on [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] my [Music] everyone [Music] so [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] here [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] just before we go to break uh justin garcia i i like he has a challenge for us all right um make the line six spider valuable that'd be a challenge only we can take it don't we have your old spider somewhere it's my sister's spider that i took to my house that's kind of broken it has that insane setting yeah the insane it's brutal yeah did we do that on solid and solid state sucks i don't think so no did we not we did it on weird amps or we did something with this something we did i think we did a bit okay i don't remember that was years ago it feels weird to say that it was years ago let's take a little break we're going to come back and we're going to dive deep into this the expression factory and i'm going to give away this df7 we'll see in a couple of three minutes three minutes three minute break yeah that sounds good i'm robbie i'm barry and i'm glad and it's time [Music] hey everybody welcome to jam squad today's letter is the letter m m is for my conversation a little late on the delivery there glenn sorry sorry can you say modulation did they say it i don't know what is modulation modulation means movement can you move very good the j chess emperor is a modulation petal specifically a chorus and vibrato oh cora yeah chorus what's chorus glad he's getting to it sorry just let him explain go ahead go ahead chorus moves the pitch of your guitar up and down can you move your voice up and down oh wow very good the emperor is also a vibrato vibrato hey where's my brother i'm glad he'll's going to explain stop interrupting sorry sorry it's fine it's fine i could i can manage go ahead go ahead vibrato is like chorus but with no clean tone it sounds like being seasick [Music] okay yeah that vibrato made you real seasick yeah hey what's that second button dude oh i'm glad you asked glenn that is the tap tempo control it allows you to lock in with the hottest beats wow yeah robby you think i could try changing the tempo absolutely how are you going to do that without any arms [Music] there you go say good job very good [Music] well thanks for watching everyone that's all the time we have forever [Music] we had a lot of i i've never seen this i just want to point out this is brand new yeah and it was a surprise for me and it's the greatest thing i've ever seen my favorite color well done what give yourself applause i it was all the puppets i don't know i'm telling them was if our wives walk in and see us watching this oh it's so great the puppets man oh my god puppets they're so strong so strong so strong yeah it's so weak i forgot what we were doing yeah i i'm honestly i don't know what we're doing here we need to give away this df7 we do we need to ask the question now i'll demonstrate the ex7 and then we're out of this joint yeah we bust it do we want to ask a jhs trivia question um i feel ill prepared but i'm like so comfortable with that oh i know i got it um can you name all three of the puppets that were in the thing that we did is watched easy the first that tells us who's paying attention that tells us and if you're not paying attention you don't deserve anything and and in case i know the right answer my wife was sitting here like wtf let's look down at the board while we're you can just collect those collect that winner we'll hold on to it joshua got it here we are this is i think this is my favorite of this three-piece series um but this is the one i've used the most i have a lot of experience with this pedal uh it has a switching system that'll make you question humanity um yeah there's like a foot switch it i'm not gonna get into that we're just gonna get into the sounds you can you can pick it up and choose your own battle it's a cool pedal and it it has the mixer out that we're using here so i'm still on the deluxe reverb so that's all in this as well so um you push it down like well it's hard to do on the table okay there we go so mode one is a dunlop crybaby wawa and addison would you play handwa yep [Music] okay the next mode is a vox well and there's parameters okay so you got all this tweekle and jiggle you can tweakle jiggle the sorry excuse me here's a box [Music] right okay now let's keep going mode three this is a very famous discontinued pedal that um that we need to talk about in pedal world news do not let me forget about pillow world news oh today okay yeah um the space station this uh is kind of this here's what it is this is a series there's xb 200 100 etc etc etc this i've done a lot of interviews and i'm going to do an episode on this entire series um they are really important to effects and the people that design them are geniuses and some of them are watching right now i hope and i'm pretty sure they are this pedal was like the kitchen sink catch-all of all the weird ideas from the other pedals that were too weird so there's like the reverb the modulation and the whammy and all that this is like all the weird stuff where they were playing around and it's called the space station and it flopped but then it ends up on all kinds of records some of my favorite uses of this were the early collective soul records there's like all these crazy guitar parts where just so well written and done and it's like sounds like this are in there um what am i doing volume helps [Music] wow you have to keep in mind this is so far before anything like this yeah so it's an auto swell that's a very popular setting [Music] that is wild [Music] so that's not i don't have a delay on so that's obviously you're you're like moving through a couple of the famous settings in here anyway i love alone this is worth because these are stupid i've seen these are legitimately around 700 bucks lately i have this one and i have one that's never had the plastic ripped off of the top of it smells amazing hey you can go buy one of these right now ex7 is on reverb for as little as 175 dollars and that's worth every penny go get it if you like walls and things and maybe you want to have something in a gig bag or like you have a home studio all day this is like one of the biggest gear no-brainers you could ever have uh mode four is the digitech whammy so the whammy was invented in 1989 in this form and then it has some evolved forms that are basically all doing the same thing but just classic yeah like dive dive bomb me [Music] it's your tom morello [Music] it's great and then you can like tweak that [Music] [Music] sound familiar yeah it's like never your age against the machine album uh yeah and you know [Music] that's way too high of an octave but radiohead uses the toe down a lot and you just have to like find your setting that you like i love that you know with a whammy normally you have like the parameter control which gets into like one octave up and down and fifths and fourths and all this this is like really simplified and for what i use it for which is u2 like ridges the machine and radiohead style uses of mainly the upper octave it's amazing the two octave up is cool too and then we have a univibe which is [Music] can we pull the add up on this the original ad yeah i thought this was a rotary forever but people confuse a univibe with rotary all the time there is a rotary there there is so this chart i have is wrong so this is mode mode 5 is not a univibe so it's fine so this is univibe yeah and then rotary [Music] it's nice because you can add your like cab distortion in here you can distort the way the leslie moves [Music] this is the most famous use of this pedal i believe this is what david ryan harris has used on his board for years there's a couple other really major session players and people you will see this in photos and i believe because rotary is a very acquired like everyone says this one sucks this one doesn't this has a lot of favor in the rotary community it sounds like [Laughter] the rotary community nice shirt i picture in my head like uh like one of those like community centers where people are playing bingo like the rotary community we all gather every sunday night at six pm and have some meatloaf and then we have the ada flanger one of the most famous analog flangers ever made which is the last remaining mode 7. and it's really cool to have some of this on a treadle especially the flanger [Music] i'm kind of tweaking this blind but that's okay because i can't see over the turtle [Music] yeah it's super cool [Music] let's do a jam on one yeah what do you want to jam on i like that crazy all that crazy space nonsense is pretty cool let's just keep it in that vein then yeah um i'll play a dod 250. [Music] let me see [Music] i'm still very cold me too i'm not [Music] so i won't use the delay at all and i won't use the chorus i'll just have the distortion factory on a 250 and i'll play with this as we make up a jam i'm gonna do something in d like major like a one four six minor kind of thing or something y'all just start it up [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] pretty cool what a pedal i think we covered it all yeah we need to give this away but let's go to pedal world news just so we can talk is that good with everybody yeah yeah i have a not really stinger for that somewhere and i don't see it i'm just pedal world [Music] unbeknownst to me when i prepared this episode as mentioned almost 1 hour and 15 16 minutes ago um dod and digitech were floating in a void that i have called samsung and samsung just was letting it float and a toilet and an abyss and a wasteful ravine that maddened me deeply sadly i contacted various people and attempted to see if i could at least acquire dod rights i love dod duty is part of me yeah they're part of my story yeah so i was like man i'd love to get a hold of that tried really hard had a my trademark lawyer and some other like just got into that crickets yeah and tried for about two years roughly like loosely and just it's like this is like this is not happening so samsung is i believe a south korean company and there is some speculation to um like who are they connected with in that same area blah blah there are all these rumors about someone has acquired it now blah blah blah all this is going on and the world's really busy we're just filming an episode i'm trying to like you know wash my clothes be a dad and then all of a sudden we filmed the episode and suddenly there's an announcement that court has bought or acquired we're still unsure exactly what happened here samsung gave over in a purchase of some sort dod and digitech so historically you should understand from the dod 250 episode i did legend of dod 250 that digitech was started by dod as the digital dod so when you see digitech things like the df7 its digital dod was how it was all began how it was all began whatever it's abandoned [Music] and we have a statement and joshua would you read the statement from court that popped up literally when our episode kind of aired freakishly i think it was a day before too i don't know yeah cortex says we are pleased to inform you that we quartet corporation maker of court guitars have entered into a purchase agreement to acquire the digitech dod brand including all digitech dod intellectual property and assets since 1973 digitech dod guitar effects pedals have been iconic in the guitar industry and we have a deep admiration for the heritage and legacy of the digitech dod products we look forward to continuing the manufacturing and selling of the iconic products as well as investing in new features and products here's how i read that josh you will never acquire this secondly um court is a it's an interesting brand because most all of you probably even in this room have no idea like who is court so court if i told you tell me my first i was gonna string instruments well that was court curbo base okay no okay so this is where i was going with this it's usually like kind of an epiphone-ish samick yep like tier of guitar you'll see in like there's like the pawn shops that somehow have new guitars it's like you see them and you're like what is court okay so court is actually a huge company they they're big they make the they do a lot of oem so that's also like private label they make the prs ses like the new mayor guitars the sc versions they make those they make a lot of brand stuff for ibanez for all kinds of people they're one of these like secret manufacturers that make they're massive i'll just leave it at that they have actually a really big youtube presence as well they have like tutorial like playthroughs and they're just not american i can't say that enough there's something about them that it oozes like european market like with guitar and there's just a vibe to it but there's some hope here so i thought we could discuss our assumptions and predictions of what they will actually do because i just want to see like the space station come back in some form uh i would love to see tom kram's dod stuff reappear to the general public in an affordable way um there's a lot of cool things they could do i think there's like the purest collector historian side of me and some other friends like we'd love to see them drop the entire 70 series in a case like this and i don't know that they will like i don't i don't know what they're going for what do you guys think you got you kind of know yeah digitech deity is huge one last thing the whammy even in the samsung mess there are a few products that continued to be made under contract meaning digitech isn't like a factory building like it was in utah it used to be in salt lake it's just like some offshore contract in taiwan they're making whammies right and samsung kept that going so we're obviously going to see the whammy stay it's probably the best selling digital thing ever yeah so i don't know what the other fringy things are there aren't many and i don't know what it means because there's a statement in their statement where it's like they've acquired dod digitech and all of the what the all of the i don't know what that means intellectual property and assets intellectual properties like all the copy yeah yeah and i it probably means things like the program programming and dsp all right so anyway that said what's speculation let's speculate yeah i i hope they do i hope they don't overlook what's already there i think that sometimes it's easy to get really excited about like just slapping a name everybody knows and loves and has experience for so long and slapping something new on it like sort of slapping the name on it like just taking digitech and just putting something putting it on something that has little to no relation to any of digitech's like lineage like if they start making digitic headstock tuners like just things or or even pedals that just kind of don't make sense because i think like the the most obvious thing is the right thing which is it it's to take the like rip the state space station apart put it in an enclosure that makes sense for today yeah that's easier to bank through that's easier to find settings to like maybe have a couple presets and just sell that because the sounds are still good like the sounds aren't bad they're not dusty it's like the packaging maybe could be updated but i i just hope that it's not it doesn't feel like let's just slap a name on a thing to sell it that's what i hope yeah yeah they it could go either way yeah i don't know and i think there's a lot of dreams out there for like to see dod back they're gonna they said they're gonna do something with dod which is a huge statement because samsung laid off tom's entire team shut it all down and it's like what are they gonna do though is the question are they gonna do like a simple reissue thing are they gonna try something new and i agree like we don't wanna we have seen even lately taking a legendary brand and just making a product and it's like yeah i hope they hold on to the story right and they pull it along through like the ages of guitar literally because that's super important to me it's like even in their announcement they say since 1973 which bothers me it is 74. i mean the founders looked me in the face in interviews yeah so they're already missing their history by a year yeah i don't want to like pick them apart but it's like i really hope that they focus and go this is such an important brand to guitars history i hope they i actually know exactly what i want them to do i want them to like do a reverse dod so like dod happened and then there was grunge or uh there was um digitech yeah and um they had the girl and there was i know i know uh but digitech was that like kind of offshoot and um digitech what i kind of want them to do is to take all the digitech stuff and give it all early dod aesthetics that's fun like how cool would it be to have a df7 that kind of looked like the like old school dod with the pinstriper yeah like really minimalistic like yeah fonts and stuff and like a really great like included like that would feel really cool i really like bring them both back together almost that way so many of us are like begging these companies to see how beautiful their art was leave it like yeah i mean even with the hx it's like we're constantly saying this and we're like mike look at this and we do the lizard queen people see that and and then you have there's just so many brands it's like this is so beautiful please don't ruin it well and i think the thing is is like people are people are doing new stuff it's all here this wall we have plenty of all of the new stuff we have plenty of niches like this is all of the cool new stuff like if you if you're coming in as a legacy brand like just use the legacy that you have like there's a reason why people are still playing jazz masters and strats and telecasters it's because we love them they're they our heroes played them there's a and there are people who are doing new stuff but it's not but the people who are doing it really well aren't fender and aren't gibson like i don't want dod to do new stuff yeah there's there's decades of amazing stuff done yeah and it's cool i've been having a conversation with one of the engineers involved in a lot of stuff uh the meat box some of the jason lamb era a lot of digitech and there is some hope that they would actually pull back from some of the internally in my world i call them like the salt lake city crew they're still there the people that designed all this stuff they just most of them live in salt lake city and they're like they do freelance programming and they're everywhere i mean digitech was huge and they had a lot of people on that team there is some hope that like court would recognize this and go back to the source and like yeah i'm just this is hoping can i put an equivalent to this this is like when a new movie trailer comes out i'm like man i hope that direct i mean what i hope he does is i hope he takes early arrow batman and mixes it with modern day batman but he gets rid of all that that like that that mush that like nasty stuff like gets rid of bat flick like i don't want that like this is what i do with movie trailers but anyway no that is how it feels all right your turn i uh i my mind immediately went a bit to what yours did nowadays people need like new things like new functions of things yeah right so like i'm thinking um implementing midi for being able to change presets between some of these things because like you've already you've already got these factory series that have tons of settings inside of it and i'm going i mean how dope would it be to have you know a box that's the size of a df7 or cf7 and you can actually pull different sounds from or like the ricochet for instance is up here on the wall that's like the whammy but in a tiny little box but there's no expression control on it so it's like these amazing products that have like just a couple of like misses that i think this you know great opportunity to to add those yeah yeah and even this so this is another forgotten really cool this episode will come soon and not it can't come soon enough this is the world's first ever programmable analog pedals they're fully analog circuits and programmable digital control so like i mean we look at the the the evolution i always love to say things aren't invented they evolve so the evolution of this is like chase bliss the genius chase bliss yeah analog brain digital heart analog brain is that it yeah it's like this is where all of that started please talk about it please make some of this and please don't throw it in the dumpster it's like they're setting on a gold mine of history like in my like i would love to fly to south korea i would get on a plane and do this i would love to sit in an office and give them a personal two-hour speech yeah the entire i like it makes me so like the panic in me that they would throw these things away i'm just like like back here's the digitech section it's so full of history and it's like so many amazing things that everyone would reattach to i just don't want to see like a newfangled thing we don't need it yeah we need dod back bringing dod back there bring digitech like this stuff is so cool court you should have problems like well that's what i'm saying so that's so many of these they did 2020. exactly there's so much opportunity now but court if you're listening yeah consult josh please fly him to korea and there's other more like yeah tom cram involved like ask some people there's so many people that love dod there's people that far surpass how i feel about it and i'm psychotic about it it's like there's so many people who have such a good pulse on what could be done joshua do you want to have an opinion i'm hoping that they release a line of cheap beers oh okay those digitech beer beer cool i would drink it call one the whammy yep i have a winner though let's get the winner and do one more jam and and get out of here get the heck out of here uh the winner brothers we have a winner come on brother i'm just looking for the name i'm sorry i'm trying to stop [Music] uh oh i don't know how to say this it's l lacaz212 lakaz lacaze212 you win the digitech df7 please email me at the jhs show at jhspetals.com you know the drill yeah congratulations and if you're not that person don't email us isn't there a movie where somebody like has to go to see a king in a foreign country and they get they like just work their way through stuff i hope so i feel like that's what isn't that aladdin no he has a genie i'm a genie we're going to get you to south korea in front of you come on [Music] that's a good song i'm in drop d i'm on the metal zone setting and i'm about to have a good time you won this we're giving you this 69 pedal and we have one left and it's gonna go on the shelf and we're moving on and the whole world can stay fixated on these extreme prices my advice and our advice is do not buy them when they're too expensive life is that simple sometimes do you need this pedal no just wait you want it you might want it but needing it like you're not gonna die just wait wait 30 days i promise you go to pawn shops let's change the cab too just for giggles let's do the greenback marshall cap let's let's hear the metal zone hit the let's see the standard marshall gab sounds great with it [Applause] [Music] let me tweak a little bit here mid frequency it's still very cold does this remind you of your court that you played in the metal band that's what i've used for my metal band i assumed takes me back [Applause] court me we'll call this song court to me [Music] addison did you have like really long bangs i had long hair have you guys never seen a picture of me with long hair i have seen have you i saw like a second of a video all right so we're not good at this style we did a pretty sick jam on i have a few riffs they're basically recycled sound garden and silver chair things that i spice up a little and it's like that's all i got you know what i mean but well let me come up with something and they can just see how this works this is literally what we do when we're filming and you're just gonna have to be tortured for a second i'll turn the mic off are we good we're interrupted [Music] brothers are you ready are you ready to jam can you please do that throughout the gym yes [Applause] brothers i don't know what it is about saying brother like that i love it i've been doing it all day get ready brothers [Applause] do you hear that sound or others that's the sound of the df7 the digitech df7 brothers [Music] get ready [Music] brothers all right let's start it again we're just showing them how it's done so i need more trouble i need i need more i need less of this and more of this hold on [Music] [Applause] there we go there we go [Music] at least there's some 60 second home in the room [Music] [Applause] brothers do you feel the need for some digitech df7 [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] are you ready can you feel it brothers can you feel it brother [Music] just thought you thought it was safe to go on outside you didn't know that the df-7 is waiting for you in the alleyways [Applause] [Music] hello [Music] feel it again [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] all right that was really fun it was something josh i we should really talk about starting a band yeah i in i'm in for it my only negative review of the ef7 is it's really hard to turn on and off with your hand at a table that's at chest height so court if you're listening go ahead and remake this pedal just could you dial it in so that when it's on a table that's at chest height you can turn it on and off easily with your hand thank you thanks um i guess we're done unless there's any burning questions that are juicy in the comments no let's uh thanks for hanging out have a wonderful wednesday evening call somebody and tell them you love them hey what's everybody having for dinner you guys know pizza i haven't eaten in days dang i'm having taquitos i thought you're gonna say i'm having tequila nope part of me just like hang out and talk for 20 minutes on air yeah you know we could what do you want to talk about i don't know i like it because it'll annoy a lot of people who are never going to watch it anyway that's my favorite part of those this is like the part of the movie when the credits are rolling and it's just like people are kind of filing out but some people are staying for like a post credit scene yeah we've never done a post credit scene like where we've hit thanks bye but then we've actually come back should we do that what if we did that one day and gave away a con and only the people who are faithful to watch the bull crap you know what's going to happen people are going to stay to the end because they think we're giving away what i'm wearing because that's what happened like marvel started putting a post credit scene after every movie now every movie i watch with a person that's wearing a cape in it i'm like is there more at the end it's like they just set a precedent for like we want to see something after the credits i had a sammic guitar once we're doing this aren't we we're just gonna hang out for a minute why not i played it for like a week and then had it for like five years yeah did anyone ever have a first act did you ever own one nick john mayer did a first stack commercial no he did he did cause a volkswagen came with the first act and he stood on the volkswagen and played it i know it's more of a volcano commercial but the car came with a guitar which i thought was like really yeah the cheapest guitars that's a interesting like marketing hook it doesn't really make it josh driller do you what kind of guitar do you have at home a stripe he has a strap cool yeah my dad had an a carving a like a black carbon acoustic with this like shimmery emerald dang real question real question and this again this is just because i'm ignorant we're still here is it epiphone or is it epiphany epiphone is it okay i i get really confused and i've never wanted to spell the same way no but you know oh like is it one of those like music things where it's cool i was wondering that's what i was wondering if it was it's like how i spell laser with a z because it should be that way we uh i guess it's not swell the physique it's not did you guys know that brazil in brazil is spelled with an s but in america we spell it with a z yes the americans were like hey man uh it's a z sound so we're gonna change the way you spell your country i always thought third floor how are we gonna fact check this we won't okay we're gonna run extensive background checks oh my god [Music] are there any legit questions i don't know because the comments are we keep trying to give stuff away and people are like oh here's some here's a question hey what is the most expensive part of manufacturing a pedal oh that's a good question it's it's my guess there's so much that goes into it i mean you don't want to know how much taxes we paid there's like just so many expenses yeah yeah the most expensive part of a physical pedal though is usually it's it's usually the uh the circuit board meaning the the circuit board with like capacitors resistors and stuff that we treat that as a one bill of material if you divide it up it's it's like mathematically weird but that one piece we treat them as like case with powder coat drill holes pcb assembly that's kind of the major three parts i would say the circuit board cool sometimes the case is crazy expensive depending on what you're doing octopus ears you win the fx stereo flange flange flange flange ears are there uh are there any drummers in the house because you're gonna get a signed pair of nick lauck's steve jordan's signature vic sticks can we get this on him signing steve jordan yeah well why are you steve jordan's signature sticks [Music] just say if if you want these just say i'm a drummer and you're going to get them adrian r you're adrian r is a drummer [Music] nick stix who's on the apartment on the third floor uh octopus ears okay oh my gosh this is so funny let's uh why is a screamer in here well because there were like five out there and i just do it i was like hs three series screamer yeah let's do that uh i got a question yeah what year was the tube screamer released do [Music] text me the answer right now it's controversial though there will be a bunch of arguments here should we argue [Music] was it [Music] huh that's what i would say okay all right all right joshua the answer is coming to you okay well you already know it's 1979 so whoever answered that first zach greed [Music] i've been dropped zac reed with 2ks you get the screamer and we've given away
