hello everyone welcome to the Skyrim cities collection where I bring together all the videos of the Skyrim cities Series in this video we will visit the nine major cities of Skyrim and take a journey cities in the province of Skyrim and is the hold capital of the rift built on the shores of Lake honrich nestled within the fall Forest rifton lies close to Skyrim's borders with cidel and morrowwind and enjoys robust trade with the ladder via the nearby pass through the valoi mountains rifton is also the home of the Thieves Guild in Skyrim and has become infamous as a town where the aspiring Rogue or Thief can rise among the criminal underworld rifton lies on the eastern shore of Lake HRI in a region of the rift known as the smoke Frost Peaks and is surrounded by the expansive fall Forest Lake HRI is one of the largest lakes in Northern tamel and is connected to the smaller lake g in the Northwest by the winding tra River in the center of lake honrich lies the aisle of gold rifton as with the rest of the rift enjoys a relatively temperate climate compared to the other old holds thanks to the mountains of isore teeth which separates the rift from East march and the Sea of ghosts blocking the cold weather that comes from the north one of the standing stones the shadowstone can be found overlooking the city from the southern gate much of the land surrounding rifton is Farmland such as the merryfair farm the snowshot farm and the thornwell farm among others Fort Greenwall serves an important Bull workk against incursions from the north rifton was also neighbored by several settlements including Greenwall to the West verum Wood to the north and marwin to the east towards srad Tower rifton's architecture and layout reflect the local environment and its role as a Center of Trade in the fourth era buildings are made of wood from the forest and the Heart of the City is its Market Square and dockyards which together are known as the plank Side District plank side is separated from the rest of the city dry Side by a large canal with water level entrances to lower quarters and a complex sewer system these sewers affectionately called the ratway are used as a refuge for the impoverished and outlaws and also hold the headquart ERS of the Thieves Guild in Skyrim who can trace their origins in rifton Back to the second era there is a Temple of Mara on the city's East Side a chapter of the benevolence of [Music] Mara several noble families inhabited rifton most notoriously the black Brier family canny political manipulators who owned the black Brier metery another clan was the snowshot family who were staunch supporters of the Stormcloaks in the Skyrim Civil War mistvale keep is the seat of the yal of rifton and contains the barracks of the city guard the entire city is by sected by a large Canal that used to serve as access for small cargo boats but lately has fallen into disrepair Decay and stagnation thanks to the lack of trade during the Civil War despite this rifton remains a bustling Center of Commerce the black Brier metery has a near Monopoly on the sale and distribution of a nord's favorite pastime drinking the city is located in the beautiful autumnal Forest region of Skyrim and that Beauty has encroached upon the city in the form of wondrous foliage and generally Pleasant if not sometimes overcast weather but most of rifton's structures are wooden and the city gives off an old and rundown feeling which often takes Visitors by surprise not that this bothers the residents who see rifton for what it truly is a bustling energetic city with a strong economy fueled by by hardworking fishermen and Mead makers despite the fact that the current yl in office is Laya lawgiver the residents understand that the city is for all intents and purposes actually owned and operated by Maven black Brier and in order to survive and thrive one needs to adhere to her rules despite the city's economic strength it holds a darker side the home of the notorious Thieves Guild in Skyrim rifton also sees much corruption in the form of Maven black Brier especially when dealing with Rivals many poor residents frequent the less desirable areas and thieves both Guild and freelance take advantage of the frequent Mist dark alleys and the canal praying on Travelers and citizens alike such conditions reflect on the city deaths are common and people will often fight in the street over dropped items the northern eastern and southern edges of the City built on the shore of Lake honrich are called dryside the bulk of the town's residents sits on dry side and is split from the Western Edge known as plank side by the rifton canal most of the more affluent homes are located on the Eastern edge of dryside as well as the Temple of Mara while the southern portion of the city holds the honor Hall orphanage and mistvale keep the western edge of the city is known as plank side built on the Waters of lake honrich and serves as the city's business district the market shops meery Fish Hatchery and the be and barbin are all located on Plank side essentially dry side is residence while plank side is business the buildings on Plank side have been built a top of wood and docks and the district is old and ramshackle there are three main docks projecting from plank side onto the lake one owned completely by the black Brier metery and the other two used for Commerce and fishery the rifton canal is the lower level of the city small residences and an Alchemy Shop are built into the moist ridden Stone dark and traversed only along rickety catwalks the canal is avoided by the more affluent citizens of rifton as it is common place for muggings and foul play it also contains the entrance to the ratway the city under the city rifton is notorious for being the home of the Thieves Guild and residents urge Travelers away from the sprawling tunnel system if successfully navigated one might find the Ragged flagen the headquarters of the guild home to a Tavern and several shops of its own however that would mean crossing the dark tight tunnels and avoiding those too dangerous or Outcast not to Warrant residency in rifton proper or membership in the guild leaving them to try and survive on their own wherever they can in the [Music] ratway upon approaching the city Gates the rifton guards attempt to make the dragon born pay a visitor's tax which varies according to level heard the forming the dawn before I let you into RI in Old might consider joining with a high enough speech skill however they can persuade or intimidate the guard if recognized that this is obviously a Shakedown the guard tells the Dragon Born to keep this quiet and go on ahead after unlocking the gate for them it is however raided by dark elves of an unknown Creed in which they hit several Farms across the area not long after a local Nord unal ironhand had gathered Warriors from all across Skyrim and began his series of campaigns across morn's Coast come spring tide he sailed off with an army of Warriors once or twice a year and wreak havoc across the province one such example was when he sacked the port town of davon's watch his explos were documented and celebrated for several years statues depicting unal were erected in rifton and Windhelm rifton was once known for its famous rifton Cavalry that used to patrol roads throughout the rift though their Fame has faded by the time of the three banners War during the Skyrim Civil War in fourth era 2011 rifton and the rift were affiliated with the Stormcloaks the rebel group that sought to split Skyrim from the third Empire and Crown ulick Stormcloak as High King of Skyrim lla lawgiver was the yl of rifton at the time and despite aligning with ulrick she was not fully convinced by the Stormcloak cause or ulrick's leadership the snowsha clan avidly supported the Stormcloaks while the black briers were friendly to the Empire meanwhile the Thieves Guild was experiencing a long streak of Misfortune that had resulted in the loss of much of its influence in Skyrim there were many theories about their sudden downfall but the troubles began after Guild Master gas desus was killed in fourth era 176 by one of his allies merer fry during gas's time as the Guild Master he maintained relationships with the influential families of Skyrim and kept the thieves Guild's business safe across the province with his death the Thieves Guild had fallen Into Obscurity but continued their alliance with the matriarch of the black Brier family Maven black Brier a new recruit eventually helped the Thieves Guild regain its lost Glory expose the murder of gas and reassert itself throughout Skyrim and finally we have come to the end of our story of its meaning is unknown the city is known as the hero's graveyard many great battles took place here for centuries and countless warriors were buried here leaving behind Graves and monuments to them because of the nature of the city the merchants of FAL are known to reflect the melancholic themes of death in their business the town lies in the southwest of the province of Skyrim near the borders of hamell and cidel at one period in history fulree was part of cidel later the town became a settlement in Skyrim during the fourth era when the events of the eldest Scrolls faty Skyrim take place the Y of FAL is sidg having succeeded his uncle denar of ston FAL lies in the southern forests of Skyrim on a strategic iic Crossroad in the middle of its respective hold and the provincial border towards hammerfell Wilder country the Dragon's Teeth mountains it is built in the forest Basin between the Geral Mountains and the highlands that contain the shriek wind Bastion where a small Lake forms at the base suited for a mill in this Lumber Town it is a city that is heavily Reliant to the lumber industry due to the abundance of resources around them in the second era FAL was much larger in scope the yl long house once overlooked the town from the hills in the South while the original Hall of the Dead was kept underneath the mountains nowadays the current Hall was a single home for the priest as they tended to the expansive graveyard in the city's Northern section the yarl's long housee is stationed in the dead center of the city on the main road that runs through Falkreath the land outside of the city is largely unpopulated but beyond the Western gate the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary was found just off the road the Nords of fulree are known to master the ability to tame saber interregnum ful was once again part of the covian Estates who were also split into Petty Kings and Warlords while the divided kingdoms of Skyrim had dissolved king kulakane of falth sought to unify the Estates but in order to move forward he needed to secure his northern border towards the reach his prized General healty early beard LED his forces at the Battle of old Holan but as The Siege surrounding it and not many buildings the town is far more similar to a small farming Village rather than a major city the hammerfell Border can be accessed by Road a short walk west of the city since they were constantly living alongside the Dead the people of fulree gave many of their shops and other buildings names related to death As Told by the residents fulree was the place of many battles in guards that Patrol the [Music] town the city has two mines iron breaker mine and Quicksilver mine which Supply iron and Quicksilver respectively it is home to many fishermen and is an important port one of the nine major cities in the province of Skyrim found in the river valley of the reach known colloquially as the city of stone it is a former Dwarven City built through a large Stone cck intricately designed around the cliffs and waterfalls from the environment since the region is poor Farmland Markarth is mainly a mining town that has a vast influx of silver vein in the mountain the city is the focal point of power throughout the region it is often disputed over between the reachmen and the Nords Markarth was founded on the abandoned remains of the radiant City nanel Markarth is known for its Rich Silver Mines that use convict labor which are mostly owned by the influential silver Bloods family the Cutthroat Intrigue surrounding Markarth silver producing industry popularized the locals saying blood and silver are What flows through Markarth the city is located in the far west of Skyrim in the mountains of the reach west of the karth river as a result the city has a good natural defense even from the skies being a long distance from any other major city and with both main roads cutting through mountains valleys and rugged terrain venturing to and from Markarth is one of the most treacherous trips for travelers it is unique in that the city's layout is intricately built into the mountain of kmad dividing the city into two Districts The Northern end dry side has streets that Ascend above each other with well-refined homes below the main square and marketplace where the populace tend to congregate the city's southern end is the Riverside the Basin populated by the lower class and the bustling Silver Mines these districts meet each other at either end of the city at the main gates on the east side while on the west side side they ascend High towards the top of the Crag and an unstone keep which contains the mournful Throne the seat of power in the reach the precipices between the keep and the Riverside contain the city's Smithy and other important places like the local Crypt and the marar ruins there is an ornate temple on the highest peak of the Crag that has been used for different deities it has been known as Shrine of the hunt father and used by The Cult of hene during the reaches Independence in the second era whereas under the third Empire it contained the local chapter of the House of debella underneath the crck are the slums of Markarth was known as the Ard known in the reach tongue as the king of the Ford at that point Markarth was an occupied ruin with Huts made out of animal hide and decorated with rough Furs one of the goods exported by Markarth early on was Granite mined from its quaries Evermore Palace in the High Rock City of Evermore which was founded by the river horse Breton in first era 983 was built out of Markarth Granite Markarth had their first encounters with the empires of cidel when Empress hestra attempted to conquer the reach in first era 1033 their first Target was Markarth the largest settlement in the region and so they Advanced forward with the iron might of the alesan Empire the Ard of Markarth fiercely defended the stronghold but the Empire's well-trained tacticians proved to overcome the disorderly and unorganized reach Clans the city had fallen to the Empire and some of the ards greatest warriors chose death than to admit defeat during the year-long campaign Imperial would meet their conscription quotas situations like this had hurt the public perception of the Dragon guard and the the Empire however it was mended with second Raymond's reign in fourth era 174 Markarth and the reach as a whole were subjected to what is known today as the forceworld mar Dominion in the Great War the native people of the reach called the reachmen took this opportunity to seize control of the city this was only possible as the Imperial legionnaires stationed in Markarth were recalled to fight the forces of the Dominion leaving the city highly vulnerable to Conquest yl mun's father roler was yl at the time but could not quell the uprising and was driven out of the city the rebellion was successful and the reachmen ruled over Markarth and the reach as an independent Kingdom from Skyrim from fourth era 174 176 according to one imperial Source the kingdom was relatively peaceful during this time the reachmen allegedly ruled their land's fairly and even made overtures to be recognized by the Empire as a legitimate Kingdom others claimed that it was a chaotic Uprising and that marth's Nobles grew desperate when the reachmen refused their offers of Peace desperate to reclaim the reach Hofer and his family Enlisted the aid of ulick Stormcloak and his militia promising them free worship of Talos in exchange for their assistance ulick accepted and his troops reconquered marar from the Rond soon after the returning Legion coming back to restore order in Skyrim after the Great War was refused entry into Markarth until they granted free Talos worship the Empire accepted however agents of the almary Dominion discovered the empire was violating the terms of the white gold concordat and demanded the arrest of ulick and his men or face another great war between the Empire and the Dominion the disillusionment of ulick and his men over what became known as the Markarth incident would prove to become one of the direct causes of the Skyrim Civil War and be the foundation for the creation of the Stormcloaks in the aftermath of the maroth incident the reachmen took on the name of the force Warn and fled to the highlands to continue their of hial mar its ruling yl is idgrod Raven Crone the main stronghold of Fort snowhawk that defends Morthal and the hold is located just Northwest of Morthal between the swamps that Encompass the Northwestern part of hmar [Music] morol said to be named after the Great atmoran Hero Mor house lies deep in the marsh a for boing area of hiar isolated from other Villages and shrouded by a constant and ominous fog [Music] moral small population and relatively remote location have kept it distant from most major conflicts in recent years the citizens of Morthal appear reclusive and cautious of Outsiders they are quite vocal about removing the town's more recent settler a wizard by the name of Fon they fear he might upset the balance of their quiet and peaceful existence due to his magical training due to their distrust of Magic the yal does not have an acting Court wizard like many of the other hold capitals do she remains neutral on the presence of a wizard in her town and allows him to practice magic and sell his supplies in the privacy of his own [Music] home due to its isolation and lagging economy moral remains of little strategic importance in the war the city's lumber mill appears to be its only source of trade a point which the citizens show concern concerned for to the east of Morthal lies ston Hills which supports Rock wallow mine the local iron ore mine but it is owned by bring one of the THS of solitude the provincial capital under the late High King T's wife yal elisif the fair and the ore is used to support the Imperial war effort there are few points of interest nothing in the way of a market no General good stores armorers Stables farms and shrines are also notably absent from [Music] morol however there is an Alchemy Shop and an inn where Travelers passing through can look for work rest and hear the latest rumors the citizens will often speak of strange sounds lights and shadows in the shrouded fog of the marshes at night the city also contains an Alchemy Shop and visitors May purchase spell Toms and enchanting supplies out of the home of a wizard recently making his home in [Music] morol the town also houses a guard house for an imperial leot stationed within hial Marsh and its capital are under Imperial control there's not much to do in Morthal but herbalists and Alchemists will find a bounty of deathbell swamp fungal pods mud crab chitin chorus chiten and giant lyen in the vast expanses of swamp and Marsh immediately surrounding Morthal firsttime visitors to the town May notice an untended burntown house on one edge of the Town collecting fresh snowfall near the moride in many of morel's residents can be overheard gossiping about the wife and child burned alive in their home and suspect Foul Play after noting the husband immediately moved in with another woman the following night behind in the burned down house there exists a small [Music] Cemetery Whit run is one of the nine major cities in the province of Skyrim serving as the capital of White Run hold and its vast open Tundra it is found in the heart of Skyrim and because of this it is the Center of Trade across the province it has been described as the Imperial City of Skyrim and its large Palace has been compared to cilic castles it has a rich and important history that dates back to the 500 Companions and is the site the mythical Forge known as the sky Forge in the dragon language the city is known as ahol sedova which means Hill of dragon the yal traditionally rules from a crystalline throne in the castle of dragon's reach which overlooks the entire city White Run is situated between the White River Gorge and the grassy Tundra of White Run hold an open expanse that reaches as far as the eye can see from the city to the edge of the hold it is ideal hunting ground for the local hunters and pasture for the farmers east of the city is the White River as well as the crossroad that goes in four directions the north and east road goes up the White River and Through the mountain passes until they reach Skyrim's cold old Fringe the South path goes up the hills into forested country and eventually the borders of Skyrim finally the West path runs along White Run's Southern face and a creek where the city's sewers empty in along the way are farmsteads and Fork that goes either directly into the city or further into the plains White Run is well fortified the road into the city is a fortified Hill with three layers of gate and the rest of the city is surrounded by a thick stone wall Laden with small water Towers White Run is neighbored by several settlements including black Moore to the West lar Dale to the Northeast nlon City to the southeast and Riverwood to the [Music] South the city is separated into three districts based on their elevation the plains district is white runs Center of Commerce riddled with open-aired marketplaces and firmly built Cottages that also work as shops for business at the center of town square are Merchant stalls which all surround the well the back street behind the homes and toward the wall has small homes and even an entrance to the city Barracks the winds district is the city's residential area which divides itself from the ples with another stone wall at the top of a stone stairway it is the home of the clan Halls of both the battleborn and the grey main families who have lived in White Run for many years at the center of the district is the sacred tree of kth the Gilder green and a small park that circle around it the historical me Hall Jor vasar is on the east side Imperial Legion and the Stormcloaks because of its central location however yl balr the greater remains neutral in the conflict Whit run is home to the companions a faction similar to The Fighter Guild of Cil their headquarters are in Jor vaser a legendary Mead Hall that was built next to the sky Forge an ancient Forge that is said to be older than both men and elves the city of Whit run itself was built around Jor vaser which attracts Warriors from all across Tamriel the settlement of Whit run may be partially inspired by the settlement of adoras the capital of Rohan in jaar tolan's work the Lord of the Rings both of the settlements have a similar layout and appearance for example dragon's reach and meduseld are rather similar they also have similar banners with emblems of horses on them and are both situated on the plains tactical Maps found throughout Skyrim list white run as well as all towns and forts in the hold as being under Imperial control marked by red flags the age prosperous City in 4th age 1222 a cataclysmic event known as the great collapse occurred in which most of the city fell into the sea of ghosts Winterhold now only consists of a few rudimentary buildings and the College of Winterhold one of the only original structures Still Standing many of the remaining inhabitants of Winterhold suspect that the college caused the city's destruction the college stands by the belief that it was caused as a result of the earthquake in vivec and subsequent eruption of Red Mountain in morrowwind the few remaining residents of Winterhold can usually be found drinking their sorrows away in the Frozen Hearth and most of these characters can point you to local quests BNA at bna's oddments can also sell you the coral Dragon claw for 50 septums which you will need to investigate to Ingle Barrow further for the longest time Winterhold served as the capital of Skyrim one with a rich and illustrious history and even in its prime it rivaled Solitude to the West Winter Hold is built on sherik head the very tip of the broken cape and where yamore first landed in Skyrim from the south the city is protected by a mountain range that spans across the northern old HS and is surrounded by glaciers of the ice fields on virtually all other sides despite the fact that the city is located on the coast and its people commonly work out of the sea the city is built far above the shore and it is a very steep drop below but at some point Winterhold had a port and the island ol envel was a summerday sail from the city winold is located at the end of the one road that runs through the region which wraps around the mountains and runs along the northeast coast the College of Winterhold is separated from the rest of the settlement by a deep ravine and connected to it via a narrow Stone Bridge Winter Hold is neighbored by several settlements including AML to the south-southeast Dawnstar to the west and haaren Creek to the Southwest the scope of Winterhold before it was destroyed has never been detailed but after the great collapse the former capital city was a set of homes on the main thoroughfare the only intact buildings in the town were the Y's L house the local Inn across the road a couple of homes along the mountain and the College of Winterhold which remained intact despite the destruction homes that are behind the street and closer to the edge of the cape are completely destroyed and encased in snow a path between the Y's long house and the general good store door leads into the greater Winterhold Wilderness while another path that goes under the bridge to the college wraps around the mountain the city's prison is called The Chill an ice cave on a glacial Island far north of Winter Hold the common folk of the Winter Hold region are seasoned fishermen that have grown accustomed to the harsh Winters and even though the land offers little for grazing they have managed to make duw successfully with food a staple dish in Winterhold and other Nordic Coastal C is Coastal clam chowder which is made from a combination of Nordic Barnacle clams oysters and a variety of fish typically The Catch of the Day one of the most lauded pieces of food to come out of the hold is Ghost flesh their Regional cheese dish the cheese is made from the little supply of dairy they have it is then smoked over a pile of dried seaweed and the northern coast of Skyrim eventually causing most of the city to erode alarmingly fast and be washed away into the sea of ghosts this event is now known as the great collapse [Music] regardless of the Genesis of the great collapse it is certain that since that time the population of Winterhold has continued to dwindle other than the college only a handful of buildings still stand what remains of the town's economy is based around serving the needs of the college as such Winterhold has become something of a Haven for Mages in Skyrim a safe Refuge from distrustful Nords the College of Winterhold is a school for magic in the city of Winterhold its campus is imposing and fortress-like arranged around a large Central Courtyard and reachable only across a narrow Stone Bridge it functions much like the mag's Guild in other parts of Tamriel but is a resolutely independent establishment separate from the guild the college holds documents dating back as far as the late second era though the college itself is even older it is said to have been founded in the first era by the legend legendary Mage shalidor although it is one of many dubious Feats attributed to him one of the oldest reliable mentions of the college comes from the early second era let's save more about the college for another [Music] video Winter Hold is set to experience a 100% chance of snowfall it will always be snowing even if the clear sky shout is used there is no jail in Winterhold instead criminals are exiled to a cave far to the North of the town called The Chill guarded by four Frost Atron of the karth river and has a port on the river itself a large percent of haar's population lives within solid udes walls it is also one of the northernmost cities on the mainland of Tamriel second Windhelm overlooking the main roads leading to the city like most Nord cities Windhelm has a hall of the Dead where bodies are interred overseen by a priest of Arc who ensures that corpses are properly consecrated and cared [Music] for the city's Arena is known as the Hall of Trials Windhelm was founded by the legendary yror and the crew of his ship the ilrt following the Battle of the MOs ring in the late moric era according to Nordic tradition after the 500 companions disbanded the ilms crew stumbled upon the Barrow of ingol is Gore's son when ismore looked South and saw where the White River flowed into the sea of ghosts he decreed that a great City should be built there to serve as a monument to the glories of mankind a place from where he could gaze upon the hill of angol Barrow and a gateway to guard Skyrim's interior against incursion via the river it was built by snow elf slaves of the early Nords the city's Great Bridge was designed to allow a Vigilant watch on the White River for Elven attacks and isg Gore's Palace the Palace of the Kings towered over the city to show man's dominion over the very winds that had caused ingle's death on the voyage from Atura an elaborate tomb was built in the catacombs beneath Windhelm to serve as is Gore's final resting place upon his death but was never used because he chose to be buried by the sea is Gore's descendants would rule the burgeoning territory of the Nords from Windhelm when Harold assumed the mantle of High King in one E43 he relinquished his Holdings in Atura and established Skyrim as an independent Kingdom with Windhelm as its capital during the time of frage the gifted the city city became the capital of not just Skyrim but the first Empire of the Nords that also encompassed High Rock Morrowind and parts of cidel when the first Empire of the Nords later collapsed amidst the war of succession that raged from First Age 369 to First Age 420 the city was sacked in second age 431 after the onset of the interregnum high King logrolf was assassinated precipitating a succession dispute between his daughter fredes and Y of solitude while fedus was accepted as high Queen by the crown of verity in Windhelm a partial moot convened in solitude and declared sparter to be high King from then on Skyrim was divided into two kingdoms with Windhelm serving as the capital of Eastern Skyrim and the seat of fratus and her line during the Imperial simulacrum in the late 3D era the city state of Windhelm was an active settlement being ruled by King asan it had a rivalry with rifton and Winterhold it was was neighbored by several settlements including AML to the west dragonwood to the South lanar Dale to the southwest and morrowwind to the east towards cormar view when the Oblivion crisis broke out in third age 433 Skyrim was under siege and faced severe casualties it was said that everything between FAL and Windhelm was laid to waste by the dri hordes by 4th age 2011 Windhelm was the center of the stor stor cloak Rebellion against the third Empire yl ulick Stormcloak leader of the Rebellion sought to Liberate Skyrim from Imperial control to protect the traditional Nord way of life and restore the right to worship tals which had been banned empire-wide by the white gold concordat in open Defiance of the ban Windhelm Temple of Talos was kept open throughout the conflict with the [Music] empire the city had also come to house a substantial population of dunmer refugees who had fled marind in the aftermath of the red year the elves were relegated to the city's rundown snow quarter later named the gray quarter after the dunmer refugees and face constant suspicion from the xenophobic local Nords argonians are also segregated from the Nord population and are forced to live at the Argonian assemblage at the city docks a decree by ulick Stormcloak forbidding the argonians from living within the city's walls also exists if the Imperial Legion takes over Windhelm Brun wol free winter becomes yl as a supporter of both the dunmer and argonians he believes that the argonians should remain outside of the city for their own safety because most of the folk in the city believe as ulrick did that Outsiders should not be trusted as a result of the treatment they face at the hands of the Nords the argonians point out how their their lives are difficult and how the Nords do not appreciate them other argonians are also warned about the living conditions in the city for argonians being warned that they should not want to live in Windhelm dialogue with ulick Stormcloak Windhelm current y reveals that he does not attend to the issues occurring in the gray quarter due to being too busy with the Rebellion despite the claims of ulrick's racism towards anyone who is not Nord High Elves seem to manage living in the city much better than the dark elves despite the fact that the High Elves are the head of the AL Mary Dominion nuran an ultimar citizen of Windhelm implies that it is because the dark elves refuse to conform rather than because of Nordic racism she manages to attain a moderate amount of wealth and owns a stall in the market during 4E 200001 as the Skyrim Civil War rages on Skyrim becomes a nation divided and Windhelm becomes the new capital of the storm cloak Rebellion the main center of the entire Nord Revolution against the empire Windhelm is governed by yl ulick Stormcloak the leader of the Stormcloaks ulick was chosen by the public as the new yl of Windhelm after his father the previous yl died at least three of Skyrim's other eolds pledged loyalty
