The Cheap Pedal Board Challenge!!

hello Earthlings Earthlings well thereof exactly where they are now I presume what I view 10 years from now they probably all the one that went to the Independence Day oh yeah first fill all time and space anyway uh Rock was saying that a lot of you guys on youtubeland wanted us to do another pedal board challenge just and I thought the challenge that we haven't had done yet is one for all you guys that are on a serious kind of pedal board budget so Lisa for $10.99 we should park in a brand new pedal board of elastic bands I said if you got 200 quid and I'm and I'm now I'm not saying just to spend on pedals I'm talking might be the whole thing so you got board power supply by the pedals you got by the cables the hot they pay versus no yeah so you've got two hundred quid and an obviously Rob and I are a boy this is no way that you can do that if you're going to go and buy an actual proper board and a expensive power supply stuff so I want well let me just make the board's out of wood and we'll just use daisy chain power you know it's proper cheap so we've got a little challenge the I wipe overboard two hundred quid if you if you want to make the board out would the only if you want to use white board be that big and just have a new labor pedal of it if you want to about two hundred pounds that's it and I guess that you know we should also probably only have we should have a limit of like you know maximum sort of for five hundred pounds for our guitar amplifiers or so that's not part of a challenge it's just when we choose to demo them we can't demo them through so what so I use a base breaker combo yeah and well how much should we go for pebbles well it's time for debate but I'm saying 200 and then that should get you between 4 a.m. oh five repurposes depends like there's like a we're gonna go for tumors as well what that's up to you again personally I wouldn't because I go you know I'm get free tuning on my iPhone and that's a really valid point unit I actually have a tuner on my phone right now so I don't think this this is absolutely about going this isn't about in an ideal world what would get this is about going I've got a strict limit of 200 pounds right and that's what I'm going to buy so in which case I could get for metals owns you you almost look like is your person who well I think where how big is the pedable big word we've got except to use I don't know usually got I've got a pallet out the back that we're going to break down so if you want litter like a meters whether you won't get a meter or if you want I can have a four of inches we have a limit of four on worth of space if you want it all right and let's do this then so yeah I think eBay go first and then I'll run away that I'll come back and we'll do me okay fine the two brands that came to mind for me right three brands I suppose in fairness that I know are affordable tone City which one of my favorites and Muar which are very good and ho tone hot one o tone hot one so let's play around this side of the cabinet so I guess if we go have a look here I'm a big drive pedal fan my amp is probably going to have reverb in it so I'm probably going to go I'm probably going to try and do Drive echo maybe just a simple booster I'd love a loose house rubbish and I'd love a loofah but I guess that's more for home stuff so I said you know what I need I need some I need some time to just think without the pressure of the camera so you can go and ask Rob what he's gonna do but I'm gonna go in haven't if I will do things better than leave so I've heard a great deal of good things about these Maxon pedals which I know are fairly affordable if not very affordable also clearly some of these little smaller paddles because there's less of them are going to be more affordable than some of the bigger pedals for example some of these massive two notes audio engineering slices of joy that look really really attractive and quite frankly give me some semi wood so I think I'm probably going to end up with a max on drive pedal because I know Lee has one of the sounds really really good it's kind of a tube screamer clone and then I'll probably not get a tuner use my phone for that get I'm gonna have to have a reverb I'm gonna have to have a delay that leaves me with one more pedal which can be an interesting sound like a buzz or an Octavia so let's go look at small pedals and run trot absolutely there is a deal in Anderson's at the moment if you buy two tone city pedals you get the power supply free right so hungry it out kind we're asking factories some we you could get where you can't put backwards in the mini pedals Kenya that work on batteries so could I presumably that's a bit that's fine because that is that's fine if you can get a deal you can get if that's I mean I'm not talking about I'm talking about that is literally an aligner moment that's that's on our website so so two-for-one on tone since to time city pedals and you just get the pro you get a power supply phone in so that just I mean that just saves like 10 or 15 quid and it's just every penny is important oh so many pal and these are like fifty quid a shot um Lee those Maxon affordable pebbles not horrible well they have hundred quid affordable affordable but I could get one of them but that's half your budget con and then that's half my budget gone I mean that to be honest with you the melody there to the max on the max on is kind of like the original guys that made the tube screamer yes so if you just want to cheat tube screamer you just buy the ibanez tube screamer mini which is how much 60 quid is it 60 70 quick do I trust him as he guising me is he trying to get a better board than me these questions will be answered wait a minute I have prior experience of this selection of pedals here because actually I own pretty much half of these at the moment and I know the golden plexi is ridiculous as a game pedal but it's kind of all of the gain or none of the game there isn't much flexibility in between it's just did you want gain with your fries yes please but I'm imagining if I'm going to be going with base breaker combo that's got a lot of saturation anyway so probably I could even avoid using any game pedals at all and just get nice colors so I think I'm probably going to get an angel win which is a nice spanky chorus sound and then as you all is listening to then I'll get something like a nice reverb concrete mom this is brutal this is really really hard so I made the decision to okay what not only mitigate distortion so I'm using a base break ground I've got the gain I need yeah oh they need any more games yeah that's interesting so I am you see I've got game pedals I'm not I've got a few days my gonna lose out there I the angel wing is a chorus right it is a chorus it's not sorry is what city I'm doing enjoying as a core yes right yeah then my first pedal is an angel wing okay if I get one more I get a power supply oh yeah that's reason why I've got two how many pedals will the power supply supply five okay we're fine so in which case I will also go what's a calf a lot it's it's another kind of drive pedal but it's the one where the the wet and the dry signal so you get like a clean signal and adjust audio signal you can blend between the road Tiny's i'm going on a tiny spring way bang reverb then you've got rhythm in your voice breaking you're absolutely right yeah um in that case tape machine is tape machine has the echo that's an echo isn't it looks like an angel wing tape machine that's my tones 20 cities that I get my power supply and then like get home easily you've still got at least a hundred quid left yeah can I get four hundred quid I'd get anything from an exam you certainly could oh it's just a nightmare customs fault I want I'm going to go and look how much stuff is on the computer I can't just use all tone see or just feed they'll be completely boring yeah I need something that's nice those max honor the nine skills which use the only known I think very very good really yes but I've got driver now it's directed let me go over by like 50 quid I get a POG I mean some of these are really affordable at the screaming birds 32 quid envelope follower 39 quid actually I'm beginning to rethink my whole concept I wonder what the most affordable power suppliers my meal because these these probably would take batteries so a little bit of a little bit of banter with the staff here and I've discovered this stag do 1299 to annoys like a hum canceling five pedal powering device so I don't have to get some of these little tiny pedals I can get some nice I can get some nice pedals from the big display of exciting things instead so just going to do that so what other than saying nothing my mass isn't very good help me does this add up to less than 200 pounds seventy-five eighty nine thirty another on that that's that's the bit I didn't want so I think I think I'm okay I'm five so 20 quid left which will buy my patch cables that's my board that's my board although I've got massive Blockheads are going on so I'm gonna have to make some sort of I don't quite know how that's going to fit on the board but who cares right I've chosen Rob yeah chosen I don't know it's going to be a good one or not but I've got the money as well to do the patch cables you've got the money to do the flats cables yeah I'm patch cables then you haven't eat there about two quid each okay you need it you need like a ten to spare their new with your patch cables okay I've done it I've done it okay well I I need some help on some of the pricing of these pedals here please on them what runs so for example uh hey I wouldn't know what that is and then I want to know how much it is the electro harmonix what does it even say I don't know but it looks really cool oh Sh what does it mean say it's very important to me that my purples look cool oh hang on it's in this some patch cables box while are it's the cheap one that's all I can afford which is the eight four five I looked up some footing up cheaper than that but like that's alright boom baby there's me Rick so I've got basically Judy's in a video years ago where it's actually if you've never seen this video this is one of the funniest videos we ever did because the pedals are kind of got this interesting sort of slopey thing we decided to test how aerodynamic they would be by getting a bottle of talcum powder and a fan to remember that playing it all over it so go and look for this is a quality but this was a good sounding pedal this is my just little bit of you know little sprinkle of dirt echo wah-wah I think I mean so I'm gonna go now now the fun bit is level to try and get a bit of wood and make a pause what about you if I'm dying that you can see that that's time to quit is it less than 10 quid and you want no free power supply because you haven't bought two times it's all possible you bought pass quite good for you bought a stag one plug at stake come on both cutting the daisy chain to make a fiber ice bar this is 188 pounds including the power supply and then you've got a lot of the cables obvious let's do this thing what would you rather have what so you're getting all of your gain sounds from the amplifier and you just go in freaky sounds and I'm getting all my gain sounds from the pedal what let's see let's be fair someone's phone so this is what you have to do and you're working to a 200 pound budget to put a pedal board together well these sort of boots have a penalties oh no that's too big for me I just found these bits of wood outside and they obviously used to be one bit that's pretty much the same that's the size I need really I just found outside so if I gaffer tape around here and around there I reckon I've got and spendable I think I need two or three of these strips to be honest you can run free look I've got wah wah ha ha ha short-sighted mode can you show you them another piece no I'm fine I've got my little ball around outside in case you're wondering about coming to England for your summer holidays this year this is the kind of spectacular weather that you can expect in you know oh people a suntan lotion it is unseasonable wet at the moment so we're back in the room and we have chosen wisely but in some cases not quite so wisely yes I think this is if you ever needed to watch a video that basically summed up the difference between Rob and my personality without actually talking about our personalities essentially haha this pedalboard basically sums it up that's interesting because Lee doesn't know why I chosen these puddles well I guess because you're creative and experimental and slightly out there maybe he doesn't watch as sensible and conservative and so I as you can see I've got the free training part on the form half the chromatic to you 3 up from Bob myyy I'm perfectly Ching and you know what the app works pretty well didn't cost a penny and I'm really happy with that just make sure you don't stamp on it because that probably really upset my phone then to be honest with you I don't really know what I've got all I know is that they were exciting their nano paddles they're all electro harmonix and they are the kind of board that would put me in the mood to write cool things and dorje myself a beer and then Dave we're going to start a new phase of writing for an album we're going to be releasing at some point some time and so we're in the process of crafting getting ideas writing licks little sections ambiences and this is the kind of board of random exciting pedals that put you on a vibe and make you think I wonder what that would sound like if I press this one pedal here and do this weird thing they all do a thing like that some of them more than others yes I will I will completely admit so the Neo mistress is this got a flashy weird thing so here's here's my amplifier without the damaging we should just say that your board was put together specifically in the knowledge that you were going to use the fender breaker we sorta didn't need gain yeah it's a pretty affordable amplifier I mean it's not affordable like 99 quid affordable but it's you know it's a it's a low to mid price kind of yes gigging calmed indeed gate and I didn't need reverb both of which I'm out of you got all that what I haven't got is funky interesting right ease yes agree things that put you in a mood and give you some kind of cool vibe so here's the knee initiative Hey it's completely different from anything I've ever owned yeah which is a good thing and probably given half an hour I've come up with a riff on to the dr. Angelou dr. Q basic follower and it's an embed filter yeah and those Teddy's am below follow up its name yes and I'm going to filter now when I first put this on I was quite disappointed because I put it through the effects loop school by out much remember the first time I use membrane filter and again this is a really interesting playable completely different it's now not through the effects leave anything under which is how it has to be and this is what it does not the kind of thing that stylistically gels with me not really know which begs the question why did you pick it how was I to know if we don't experiment the tones of a different sounds how on earth would you know bringing me to my final decision yes which was a good choice your final decision I think for you anyway I'm quite surprised I almost suspect uh what's it called we could never work out what this actually was trying to say could we know Nick let's up one of those death metal bands made out sticks or something like the most impossible what it actually say n R er a the novel premiere tablet-sized others my voice plays this pedal we say what's it called octave X I like your best I've got a question the order you've put the pedals in I'll be honest with you you you can absolutely question your which is your in and which is your out this is your SS my own yeah I would I would go since my I would go nan-oh care yeah bars mistress well but sometimes different orders give you different they might be she'll survive and sometimes certain orders just work done you know it's not already feels like it's a wreck it does it feels like everything's got a face I see bye honey yeah but safe thing but can I also say I really do think I deserve brownie points the fact that I spent 188 pound yes I've got a really cool stag noise-canceling hum canceling pass play and look at my reef fabulous Lord cute little board the panels if you're interested I held on my blue tack yeah if we have more time and more we would have done it with Velcro or something more steady but I just rising because the wood I found I just wrapped it in Gaffa tape ably attacked the Pens onto the board I think to be honest with you if you're if you're a pedal train owner and and you've just gone unspent Turner and 50 burn I'm sorry right you are ask yourself a question why why you and you could have literally Gaffa titles and uses a word together what's interesting is perfectly effective you know what really sticks gaff or take laughing go for taking BlueTEC you're taking tap dead but you're Gaffa tape I'm talking to Pat Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers gaffer tape and blue tack stick it does so I'm just saying that's stuck on there and I'm really proud of it good for you it's a creation board and now I rest my case of winning any longer you might as well you explain what you think write a little ticket I went with the - I've gone first safe haven't I've gone safe so I knew that my little amplifier was going to be a pedal amps that's my M I'm really cute this actually I just thought you did thank you so much where ye oldie while the good old-fashioned blues junior and if you're sitting there going it's not looks like doesn't look like a blues junior it's the limited edition tweed one could you have gone any sofa no that's super safe I could gig with an amplifier of this volume and I know the sound and then all I really wanted was my my to gain stages which is you know a little bit a little bit more there this is the sweet cream buy I mean I can wind it up a bit more but I don't need to see because what I've also got in here is the black star LT drive which is Oh I've got a bit of nice ambient you that is nice what does not have a bit more of that tape Bashar that's the again the tone to the tape machine and by buying the two times it depends of course I've got my free power supply same pass apply Robbie of course I've got my box wha which you'll notice I've used cable ties to stop it rocking the fat forwards which is very slightly by about a millimeter oops way restricting the amount of sweet all right cable you've got about two million it's the best thing about wah-wah put put on put the drive on the and the cream on the bar on them now all four together so how much was the Black Star Drive 35 pounds mmm about the same price is my dr.
