[Music] [Music] the tenryu Beto or the world Nobles are the Supreme Lords of the world government in one piece they are essentially the personification of a corrupt and totalitarian government Oda is extremely overt with this message to the point where the citizens of the world basically have to revere the tenryu Beto as gods on earth they are exempt from any laws and that can make them up as they please and in a world were even attempting to learn about the past is a punishable offence one could also see the world Nobles as hypocrisy made manifest huh you know it is surprising that it took me this long to talk about these guys you know I think it's just because I've made other videos about like the world government and like indirectly referencing the tenryu Beto and back when reverie was going on I was making a bunch of discussion videos about like you know the Hat and iam sama and everything so I think it just kind of uh you know glossed over my head that I should just make a video focused on the ten or you Beto and you know what the remarkable thing is looking into it we really don't know that much about them well we do but not as much as you would figure like for instance it's been stated that there are the 20 families that started the world government you know the 20 families came together during the void century or I guess right after the void century is a better way to put it because that's when the world government really became a thing so about 800 years ago and then the direct descendants of those 20 families are the current 10 rabito or the world nobles right okay well how many of those families do you think we know about at this point in the story the answer surprised me I thought we knew at least a few of them we don't we know - we know the doflamingo family and then we know the Nefertari family okay so minor clarification point I probably could have been better at explaining this when I say we only know two families I'm simply referring to we only know two named families out of the 20 Kings that started the world government so the donkihote family and the Nefertari family those were the ones that started the world government those the only ones that we know by name so far we know about like the world Nobles like Shar Lowe's and Roz Wald and Joe Mack but we don't know what their last names are so that was what I was referring to there also I apologize because Don Quixote is the family name but I'm gonna switch back and forth between saying the Don Quixote family and the doflamingo family because doflamingo is the most you know well known member there so apologies for that but you know what I mean all right back to it and the Nefertari family is not even technically considered part of the ten rabito right now because they decided at the outset when the world government was founded they decided to stay in their original Kingdom alabasta what happened was you had all these kingdoms scattered across the world then the void century happens which I felt like doing a jig come on you got to do a jig every now and then alright let's get back to it alright so yeah void century happens and then all of these kingdoms decided to get together and they were like all right let's found ourselves a good old-fashioned world government oligarchy so they do that and of course when they're setting up their shop at Murray's wha this giant city at the top of the red line which I guess that was probably built around that time you know they had to leave their original kingdoms to start this world government that's why at dressrosa the ruling family is not the doflamingo family anymore it was at one point but then the doflamingo family left to go to Murray's wah and the Riku family took over which was led by King Riku that's who we saw during dressrosa before it was briefly handed back to doflamingo but then he was dethroned again and now it's once again in the hands of the the Riku family so that's great but with the Nefertari family they opted to not leave their original kingdom of alabasta probably because they had direct ties to it in the history of anything fun fact did you know that there is actually a prehistory in one piece yeah like even before I click we're not even talking about void century we're talking like thousands and thousands of years ago when Robin was reading off that pauna glyph at the in the tomb and the Ponte glyph actually gave directions on where to find pluton but she was lying to crocodile but I still think that there was some history written on it or maybe it was history she read somewhere else she was talking about how like alabasta was founded like thousands of years ago so there's definitely like a prehistory in one piece that goes even further than the void century we're probably never going to reference it although yeah I do enjoy my history it's not quite up on the list as geography because we all know geography is everything but history history is some things history is some things so yeah there's like a prehistory deal there but maybe because of that rich history and everything and they had some other you know obligations to stay in that country they decided to remain and so technically I guess you could consider king cobra or VV you could consider them tenryu beto because there's really nothing different from them you know in in terms of like hereditary you know the current tenor you Beto are direct descendants of the original 20 families and VV and Cobra are also descended from them although I I would like to assume that there's probably a little bit of inbreeding going on with the tenryu Beto considering the fact they spend most of their days atop this giant city and they're just like you know that I I mean it's never said outright but a lot of them are kind of messed up in the head and I could see them practicing the whole we got to keep our bloodlines pure son yeah so that that might be a situation there then again you have people like Shar lows who had like nine wives or something like that and when he was at Sabo and he remember him that douchenozzle when we met him and he was like oh I want that girl to me by ninth wife by the way get rid of wives one through five I've tired of them so I don't really know how that works if it's like in Game of Thrones style where you have a child with somebody it's like a bastard son or something I don't know how that works with how the lineage of the ten rabito is carried on but I would probably assume there's some incest involved you know what I mean okay but yeah those are the only families that we know about the donkihote family and the Nefertari family did I say doflamingo family earlier sorry no that's not correct it's it's the donkihote family that's the family name it's just no flamingo when he it's confusing for me because you have the donkihote family that's the ten ruby toe clan but when doflamingo decided to start his pirate crew it's like a mafia so he named it the doflamingo family so that that messes with me there's two there is a doflamingo family and there's a donkihote family but in this context we're talking about the donkey ho days yeah so you have doflamingo Roshi not a homing homies wife who we never got a name for but they're members of the world nobles until homing decided to abandon his position and go off to another part of the world where he was he assumed he was going to live and I guess peace and harmony with the commoners I don't really know why he thought that that was a good idea let's think about this for a second okay granted you know the world Nobles are kind of removed from the rest of the world but they can get their hands on literally anything that they want any time that's the whole point of being a world noble right so they they might even be aware if they really wanted to I guess there's really nothing stopping them to learn about the void century I mean if there's any place in the world where there would be like a history book about the void century I would imagine it would be in marie's why I don't know like the Goro se obviously know about it ium sama definitely knows about it but a lot of the world Nobles probably do - some of them are kind of stupid don't really care but some of them might but yeah I mean if homing really wanted to he could learn about what the public apisto flike what is the current public opinion of the commoners of the world on the world nobles you know before I decide to toss away my status as a noble and descend upon the world and try to live amongst these common plebs you know what is uh what is the current opinion of them you know I think he would have probably tried to figure that out first but I mean his intentions were in the right place I mean he was different from all the other ones I'm not really sure what happened in his past that led him on that you know that goal to decide to live amongst the commoners but he went with it it's just that his methodology wasn't that great so him and his family left and his wife was cool with it as well his wife even though we don't know her name she seemed like a rather until Seoul kind of makes it even more messed up considering how dope doflamingo turned out you know what I mean but anyway yeah they move off to some random island that's not even allied with the world government see that's the thing they're not even at an island where like the world government is part of they're in just some random island in the northern seas but even here in a place that's far removed from the rest of the world the the people that live there knew about the world nobles and despise them because rightfully so let's list off a number of things that's messed up with the world noble system huh let's do that shall we okay well number one they're completely above the law number two they're taught from a very young age that it's okay for them to be above the law because you are essentially gods on earth I don't think I need to explain to you why teaching people why you know that their gods and they're better than the common folk and how they're just superior just for being born I I don't think I need to explain to you why that's not a good thing but it didn't happened to them so they can basically go wherever they want in the world and they can do whatever they want it doesn't matter even if they blatantly commit murder in a public street doesn't matter they could be walking down the road and some kid could step in front of them and yeah well he stepped in front of me everything that happens after this point is justified they could steal whatever they want not like they need it though because they're amazingly rich that's part of the reason why the world government has so much power and influence and just basically an endless reserve of money because all of the money comes from these détendre Beto right and that's why also the goro say state that they have to keep the tenryu Beto happy as much as possible the Goro's say are also stated to be members of the tenryu Beto but it's like there's like different classes here there's the tenor you Beto that just live out their days in their golden palace in their golden bedrooms [ __ ] in golden toilets and and just sitting there like twirling their wine glasses so freakin rich there's those kind of Santeria Beto and then there's the ten rabito like mules guard or like homing that are a little bit nicer than the others that actually have like what is it called yeah empathy and a soul and then there's other ones like the Goro's say that are actually learned and intelligent and they're not just complete freaking blowhards and they can actually run a government so there's different classifications here right but yeah that's so they can steal whatever they want but it's not like they have to I already mentioned the thing that's messed up with Shar Lowe's how he'll just be you know walking down the street and if he sees a woman that tickles his fancy oh god why did I why did I use that way to describe it oh that now I'm gonna be thinking of that I'm gonna be thinking that Sharla's tickling his fancy all right now I wonder what his moves are in the bedroom I'd why am I asking these questions I don't need to I don't need to know I never wanted to know no one ever asked that no one's ever sending in an SBS - OH - hey what are Charlie's moves to pick up the ladies I don't need to know okay anyway yeah he can just like I want that girl as my wife and they have his like his handlers like his Butler's next to a bunch of guys wearing suits and fancy sunglasses kind of like the Secret Service they're like yes sir I approve of that all right fine let's take her and you know get her admitted to the Murrays wall immediately you know so that's that's how that works they're attacking a tender area Beto in any way shape or form verbally physically emotionally it will not fly you will end up in a shallow grave before sundown no although it is so satisfying when it does happen you know it's like Oda makes a point to say like attacking a world noble is a big no-no it's it's not just against the law you're basically you're defiling the acts of God at that point but it happened so often that one time were Zorro he's a man it's one of my favorite scenes in one piece where I need to make like a top 20 scenes in one piece like my personal favorite scenes cuz I use that term a lot I'm like this is one of my favorite scenes in one piece but they really are I need to make like my top 10 list but anyway there's that scene where Sharla's is walking down the street and saw Boni and he's on his freak oh by the way they use slaves as transport you know what it's not even that effectual because guess what human beings are not designed to walk on all fours we are not horses you know like use a horse it would be way more effectual but that's not the point they're trying to get across here the point they're trying to get across is we have all of this unabashed unquestioned power we could do whatever we want yeah I'm a world noble I could run down the street wearing you know it was an epic stallion that would be able to support my bodyweight but you know what would be even better to kind of just let the masses know who's boss I'm gonna ride down the street on one of my human slaves and he probably won't get very far because you know it's a human being not designed to like crawl on the ground very well so but it doesn't matter because after one collapses Oh put rig on the next one a mile later he collapses oh it's such a hot day out next please you know they can do that they just keep it going but anyway he's walking down the street with his freaking human transport and then Zoro's like you know he's Gus land some booze and it's kind of strong around sabola man I wonder where those guys got off to you man they're always getting lost he sees charlo sand he doesn't know the deal so all of the people of course they're there lying prostrate on the ground on like making a path for I'm like oh please do not please beseech us with your power and wisdom and then Zorro was just walking straight down he's just like where the hell are you want directions or something heads everybody it's like the best way I can imagine this is like imagine back in like the days of like Kings you know like we still have kings and queens right now I'm talking though back in the day when that was like like the king of England was actually the king of like England not just like a figurehead or something and the king is just walking down the street and everyone is just like oh it's the king let's make a path for him and then someone just kind of steps out and just like hey man what's up everyone would just be like whoa okay huh but this is even worse than that because well in some historical context Kings were basically held up to be gods but not all the time but sometimes but in this context everyone's just like like drops their fudge and just there let's get out of here let's get out of here and so Carlos is even dumbfounded and he's just looking at Zara like is he series brain camp right this is something he's never in camp insubordination not even insubordination but these guys are literally brought up since they're little kids on how you're better than everyone else and whenever you're walking through town people will just part the ways they'll listen to whatever you say because they have to and so it doesn't process in Sharla I can match like the little guinea pig wheel it's just like what's he doing and so charlo so just like reflexively he just and he tries to shoot zorro zorro uses his sword almost slices his damn head off that's when Bonnie jumps in is like what are you doing you idiot oh my god my big brother died and Carlos is like oh I didn't think I hit him but alright don't know why I'm giving him a Sylvester Stallone accent but alright we'll roll with it yeah okay let's go getting a boxing tournament come on so they move on down the road now of course later on we have the epic scene let's go frame by frame on this one and it's monkey dee Luffy coming up the stairs after this world noble bastard just shot his fish man friend Hachi he's rearing back is he gonna do it kids does this monkey man have what it takes to go all the way right out of here he's not gonna be waking up for several days ladies and gentlemen man they're gonna have to spend billions of berries on that reconstruction surgery oh man whoa and then later on it happens again it's like if one wasn't good enough during reverie when charlo s-- is like trying to take Shiro Hoshi back to his sex dungeon I mean it wasn't expressly shown in the series but you know he has a sex dungeon like you just know and so he's trying to take Shara Hoshi away but the mules guard shows up with just like a big chunk of wood and he's just like Charlo so yeah it's it's it's cool it's cool all right so let's move on and talk about the fashion sense of the Chenery Obito as you can imagine it's pretty fabulous they were these extremely stylish vacuum-sealed Astro bubble suits designed by Calvin Klein yeah and so the basic deal here is as you would imagine because they're obviously better than everyone else they can't be breathing the same air as us plebs right I mean come on now so they have these suits a lot of them actually they people actually think that they're aliens because of the suits that they wear like a lot of there's actually theories in the fandom regarding that and I'm not gonna say that's completely out there because the moon is a thing but I don't think that's the case I really think that it's just habit from literally hundreds of years of teaching just being ingrained that like yeah these these suits are there so you can you know you can breve a special kind of air you don't have to worry about breathing the common air and there's like a little there's like a little air freshener inside here so no matter where you go it smells like lemons yeah but yeah even when they're in Maurice wah though they still wear them which is the weird thing I thought if there was anywhere else in the world that they would not wear him it would be Maurice wah but apparently they they still wear their suits there which might mean that this it's just what they do it's the only outfits that they wear it's kind of peculiar for me because if I was a world no but it seems like just rather clunky you know like you're wearing a like an astronaut suit wherever you go and gloves and stuff just like sometimes don't you just want to like you know chill out but I guess you know it's the status of a world noble maybe they're taught that they have to wear them all the time the only ones that don't wear them are like of course doflamingo because he's technically doflamingo status is like a ping pong ball it's like bouncing back and forth he started out as a world noble when he was a little kid then his father left and all of them were excommunicated and then he took his father's head back to Murray's law and he was I think he attempted to get back in but they kicked him out but then he started to gain power and he's still new secrets about the world Nobles so he might have been like a shadow member of the tannery Obito and then the whole dressrosa thing happened and he was kicked out again and now he's rotting at level six impel down so yeah his status is is random but yeah he of course has a different fashion sense and the Kouros say all wear very stylish suits but as aside from them all the other members of the world noble class always have that that suit on when they were at Saban D they just use the bubbles there as the as the you know sphere to protect themselves from breathing the common air sainte jalle mak who was the one that went to the goa kingdom during the flashback with Luffy Sabo and ace they didn't obviously the bubbles don't work there so he just had like a normal like glass container over his head there most of them also tend to carry some type of firearm on them char Lowe's had a pistol Joe Mack had like this giant like mortar launcher thing and they don't really know how to use them all that well it's just basically it's it's a sign of power that's all it is is just like you could go wherever you want and do whatever you want shoot whoever you want it's whatever so just like they mostly carry some type of weapon on them there for that reason and of course it's not going to be any weapon that soils their own hands it's not gonna be like a sword or something is gonna be a gun because they I could just go down there I'm bored today you know just start a shooting gallery it's how it is oh man this is a really messed up system when I really think about it and like I said at the beginning there you know it's really about the hypocrisy of the whole thing because the world government has all these crazy rules in place like the world like the people of the world cannot study certain aspects of history and if they were to even attempt to do that they don't just get arrested they get Buster called out of freaking existence you know so they have all these ridiculous rules in place but then you get to the world Nobles that are the exemption from all of that is this like the entire world simply serves as a pillar to support the world Nobles it's kind of like yeah you you people might be living in the world but it's only because we allow it you know you guys are only alive because we say so we're the ones that are really should be wreaking the benefits of the world okay it's your job to support us it's our world [ __ ] you're just living in it kind of like that and that's that's that's how it is you they have the finest food the finest wine all of the technological advancements the world can offer full support of the Marines they have the entire cipher pol organization to protect them they have pretty much everything now you can kind of understand dragons ideals here now the Revolutionary Army came and said recently back during reverie they said hey look we're not gonna try to take down the entire world government because number one that might be fairly difficult to do but also if you do do that even if we succeeded let's just say we did that would be sheer anarchy and the way the world is right now isn't perfect by a long shot but mass Anarchy would be even worse that's why I don't really understand it when people in this current world say oh I want to live in a world I would just want to live in a world with no government as we live in anarchy let go back to our roots I'm like alright you have fun with that because it wouldn't be very fun but anyway yeah the Revolutionary Army doesn't want that rather they just want to get rid of the ten rabito which is the ruling class that are the ones that call all the shots even like the Goro's say they are still technically ten or you beat oh they're a little bit more intelligent than the others but they still are ten Ruby tail so that's what the Revolutionary Army is trying to do and I'm not sure what their goal is afterwards like they date they take down the ten Ruby toe and then they'll set up a committee as like a temporary head of state or they're gonna get they have other people in mind that are gonna run the world but the infrastructure that's in place is not necessarily a bad thing and not every member of the world government is bad not every member of the Marines is corrupt obviously it's just that this ruling class has to go because their outdated it's it's ridiculous of how unfair and unjust this is that they can just do whatever they want whenever they want just for the sake of I hate that and I think that's what Oda is really trying to do to get these using it to personify like this is a corrupt government made manifest into human form that's what the ten ruby toe are think of all the unjust things all the unfairness in the world of the government all past governments that existed that's what the ten ruby toe represent and it's a system that's existed purely because of tradition and heredity that's that's all it is like yeah like 800 years ago a bunch of kings got together and started a government therefore their great great great great great great great great great great grandsons definitely deserve all the rights and and uh you know privileges that they got right just because they're related therefore it's ridiculous it doesn't make any so yeah that's what the Revolutionary Army is attempting to do take them down I'm assuming that also means taking down the gore Jose in taking out EEMs saw my M Sawa as we recently found out in the manga is the supreme ruler of the world because he is we don't know his story we don't know if he is a he's most likely a 10 or a Beto but we don't know what certain circumstances led him in particular to be the ruling King perhaps back during the void century that story that they told about the 20 families maybe that's a little wrong because the way that they always tell the story in the history books in one piece is like the 20 families came together and they were all equal and they decided to you know rule the world on by committee like equally that's what they decided but maybe what actually happened it was maybe like one family in particular was the one that rallied everybody together and maybe even oppress the other Kings like this one King was so powerful he beat all the other Kings down and like under his boot and he's just like you're gonna listen to me and we're gonna do this world government I'm gonna be in charge and if not I'm gonna kill you and that might have been the situation so yeah but at any rate even sama is the supreme ruler he gets to command the gor who say and the Guru say or the public face of the rulers of the world government but iam Psalm is the one that really calls the shots and we saw that when Gore was seven the gore who say all kneeled to him and is like what is your will M sama whatever you say we shall take name your theories kids like he has the eternal youth operation by the Aviano me done to him he's an alien he has some sort of clairvoyance ability to see the future there's a bunch of theories out there take your pick but yeah he is most likely a tenryu Beto just like of the most royal class out of all of these royal people another reason why they're so what's the word I'm trying to think of dastardly oh I don't get to use that word too often dastardly um no they're dicks and the reason for that is mostly the slave trade yeah it's kind of hard to get over the slave trade you know what's messed up the sole reason that this exists in one piece is because like I said all the messed up things they have to do to showcase their power there's like a mobile there's like a walkway in Marie's wha that's like automatic it's run on slave power when they're walking through a town they can't walk they need to ride on on a slave that's what they do so I would assume the the majority reason why the slave trade even exists to begin with is simply because the world Nobles they want it to be to show their power and to oppress the common folk now there are other Nobles in the one-piece world like they're not getting off the hook here either you saw the auction go back and watch the episodes where they were at the auction house yeah the ten rabito were there but there were a lot of other kings and queens and royalty that were bidding on slaves too so you know don't uh ya know don't don't just write them off but hey there's good Nobles as well like king cobra and the alabaster royalty there those are prime examples they're dressrosa King Riku you know that that's a prime example but yeah the most the main reason that's the case is because of the Chenery Obito we of course have the flashback with the the BOA siblings the hope of the celestial dragon that's what this represents is if you're marked with that you're basically property of the world Nobles from now until the end of time when Fisher tiger raided Murray's hua and that epic scene I would love to see an actual you'd like that like Oh to actually draw that like Fisher Tiger climbing up the sheer rock face of the red line you know arriving in Murray's wand just like cracking his knuckles like let's do this tiger sharks you know and they attack you know that he did it single-handedly two rescued a bunch of the slaves rescued boa and her siblings they managed to get away out of out of Murray schwa I'm not really sure how they managed to escape because it's on top of a mountain but they figured out something maybe they hijacked a bondola I don't know but yeah and that's something that's an extreme you know sense of like embarrassment and and just horrible it's like it got to the point where when they were discussing this with luffy sanders oniy like broke down like she had a mental collapse in the middle of that conversation from all of the horrible things that the ten rabito do remember it's still a show in manga so Oda can't like directly show everything that happened like but he does a good way of like showing you the mental trauma that occurred here like when they're just sitting there talking about this and Sanders onea just starts crying breaking down in the middle of just remembering the [ __ ] that went down when they were held captive in Murray's wha you don't need to see it directly you know what happened to them I'm not even gonna say it right here but we all know what happened to the Bowa siblings while they were held captive at Murray's wall we all know what the ten of you Beto did to them all right so that's that's a pretty messed up thing oh I can't show it but it was something that at least the effects of it are felt we understand how horrible these people are and why they need to go and why they serve as like the main enemy of not just the Revolutionary Army but most of the other like the world in general like there are some people that probably like that just for the sake of not wanting to die they're like oh yeah the world Nobles they're great imagine like you know imagine if you lived in like North Korea right and you're going into a public place you can't just be there like [ __ ] talk in the government that's not gonna fly you know so I'm sure there's plenty of people like living in North Korea and there's people that hear and the word in the one-piece world that are just like oh yeah world government yeah ten repeat oh man they're great i one of them was walking down the street earlier and killed our baker man he was he he deserved it though yeah he totally deserved it so yeah there's people that are just gonna go with the flow and they might be brainwashed in a sense you know just like growing up and just being told about the tenor you Beto and what they are and what they can do then Maz well just like hey play it safe just don't don't rock the boat just roll with it and that's the way they have to live their lives and then you have the Pirates that are actively opposing the world government and the Marines the Marines directly but the world and the world government is still an enemy of the straw hats like when they kidnapped Rob it and they had their you know saw a king burn down that flag and like Luffy is not the kind of guy that's gonna like alright guys we're gonna launch a raid against Maurice wah he's not the kind of guy that's gonna do that unless like one of the straw hats were directly captured and sent to Murray's wha then Luffy would do it in a heartbeat but yeah there are enemies of the straw hats and if Luffy comes across one of them again he knows that they're enemies they're gonna attack them but you know Luffy doesn't care you know they're gonna send it Admiral whatever it's happened before we can do it again maybe we'll get fujitora this time huh Zorro so yeah yeah so I think that's pretty much everything directly a 1 to talk about I was gonna mention the family that Charlo Sandro's Wald and Shari a chef Shari it's just sure sure surely are part of because we don't know their name that's something else that got messed up I'm like we've seen these guys so often and we don't even know their last name and I'm like really so technically we have three families doflamingo and Nefertari who aren't even part of the world nobles and then the family that Roz Wald and char Louis and Shirley are part of but we don't know their last name but aside from that those are the only were an angel' max family as well but we don't know their last name so there's there's that um interesting little fun fact though well remember when mules guard was heading to Fishman Island and he was you know he was shipwrecked and then everyone was about to beat the crap out of him for what he did do the you know the Merman and the Fishman on the island and oh so he may you know jumped over and protected him when he was heading down the figurehead of his ship looked like a mouse which made sense because he's like he's a really mousy kind of guy fun fact when Zhao Mak was heading to the Goa Kingdom he had a similar ship but his figurehead was a lion so I don't know if that means like each family has like their own like sigil or crest or something like that that would be really cool kind of going Game of Thrones II with it like the symbol of the doflamingo family would be a rat or a mouse that would make way too much sense like you know that would make way so much way too much sense and then maybe the symbol of shall max family whatever that was was a lion ra's walled and char losses family would be another animal the Nefertari families might be a falcon because of you know what the guardian of alabasta is a falcon that's why pel is like I am the guardian deity of alabasta so just an idea I wanted to throw out there something like that along those lines but yeah I think that's everything I wanted to talk about here kind of get into some serious subject Matt's a twofer we talked about spousal abuse yesterday in Totoro keys video and now here we are talking about the slave trade with with the tenryu Beto but man it's it's a pretty messed up system and I don't know when we're gonna see him again I hope we cut back to reverie at some point I don't think we're gonna expand on like all 20 of the families or anything like that but I would like to get like at least a last name for Oswald's family get a little bit more of introspection there and then get to see a few of the other families and how they operate maybe there'll be like a gathering of the ten rabito like or like every family has
