you you welcome guys it's madness thank you for joining me today on this video we are discussing some more armored fighting vehicles and today we are talking about the BMP 3 yes a very formidable infantry fighting vehicle of the Russian military and one which I will say I am very impressed with now we all know the BMP 1 and 2 series a very famous infantry fighting vehicle of the Russian military back in the day of the cold war clearly those vehicles had some serious discrepancies and issues going on with various weaknesses and such and we all know about the fuel tanks and the doors and the back doors and all that sort of stuff and but still extremely impressive vehicles for the day and I guess the Russians kind of learned from the days of the Blitz that moving troops fast and quickly across the battlefield is very very important and being able to get troops into a area safely as best as possible anyway with some sort of fire support is very very key now the BMP 3 has clearly developed on this since the last two series very very prominently and it's highly impressive to see this kind of vehicle sort of take along the lessons learned from the past and progressing it forward to actually be a very formidable infantry fighting vehicle and I did a bit of research on this vehicle because I didn't know much about it to be honest I did some checks and it is actually really really cool to see the kind of equipment on the layout this via quite how its kind of changed a little bit since the BMP one and two so let's talk about a little bit first there is one kind of touch base on how this vehicle kind of operates and how its developed just since the days of the BMP 1 & 2 so the development of the BMP 3 infantry fighting vehicle commenced in about the late 1970s it was accepted to service with the Soviet Army in 1987 there was a pre-production batch of 12 vehicles that were delivered that same year but it was obvious that the design of this IFE had little in common with the previous BMP and BMP 2 vehicles a number of drawbacks related to previous vehicles with fixed currently the BMP 3 is in service with Russia Azerbaijan Cyprus Greece Indonesia equate South Korea Ukraine United Arab Emirates and Venezuela a pound apparently the appearance the BMC kind of resembles a light tank well yes it does but in my own opinion a lot of higher fees could technically representing a light tank but really I wouldn't really agree with that I'd still say it looks like it in 55 vehicle it is armed with a 100 millimeter main gun capable of firing nine m117 bastian laser-guided anti-armor missiles as well as ordinary hg frag projectiles the 9mm on seven missile has a maximum range of around four kilometers it penetrates about 650 to 750 millimeters behind explosive reactive armor providing this I see a considerable anti-armor capability high-explosive fragmentation kilometers the vehicle is complete with a semi automatic loader and has a maximum rate of 10 rounds per minute which is pretty darn impressive now I know in the past I've been giving the auto loader a lot of negativity I personally haven't been I think people have kind of misconstrued as I've been hating on the auto loader I don't hate Auto loaders guys check out my other video if you hasn't haven't already it's in the links below but I don't hate Auto loaders what I'm saying is in my personal opinion I kind of agree with the manual load aside for my own specific reasons but in a situation like this I would actually say that the auto loader is very very important first of all normally an infantry squad or platoon is going to stick beside the crew or the vehicle that they've been dropped off by in the battlefield okay so first of all we already have five or six troops at least they can at least help with track maintenance covering the vehicle provide support whatever it may be they're already there there is no real requirement for a loader to load this hundred millimeter main gun it's just not required so in a basis like this yes I would for sure side with the auto loader it makes complete sense of course having a loader would you know be very practical and advantageous for this vehicle and considering at such a small low-profile vehicle again Auto loaders are going to make a lot of sense but really though that anti-tank missile is going to do some serious damage I mean that's quite a bit of penetration 650 to 750 millimeters of penetration is quite impressive there's a total of 40 100 millimeter rounds carried so it's quite a bit of punch to be able to provide for those infantry being dropped off the BMP 3 is also armed with a coaxial 30 millimeter cannon and the 7.62 millimeter machine that's some formidable firepower guys to match along the answer take this out and 100 millimeter gun so clearly this is nearly gonna be a vehicle to carnage you kind of fulfill that very light tank roll I mean yes it's able to develop troops onto the battlefield very short notice and get them in there nice and safe but it's got some serious firepower behind it - I mean this vehicle could potentially not only support the infantry but actually head ahead of them kind of a spearhead advanced force to actually provide them a lot more than cover actually kind of bring the attack to the enemy which is impressive for a small vehicle like this the 30 millimeter cannon fires around 330 rounds per minute and has a maximum range of two kilometers against ground targets and four kilometers against low-flying helicopters and clearly this vehicle is going to be able to do some serious anti-aircraft defense of that kind of weaponry onboard and which is again key for the battlefield providing infantry cover because those aircraft are gonna sort of mince up your troops if you drop them off and leave them away without some sort of air support coverage really the bmp-3 is fitted with computerised fire control system and a ballistic computer so clearly guys having that stabilized main gun being able to kind of shoot and scoot move is very very key and that's going to be pretty much integral to every card in modern battle tank slash infantry fighting vehicle out there today because it's just there's no point having a vehicle that does not have the list of computers doing things manually is just not the way to go anymore if we can get rounds on target first time that's the way they'll go go about doing it the hull of the turret of this mp5 vehicle is welded aluminum alloy armor the front arc is made of composite armor and provide protection against 30 millimeter armor-piercing rounds all-round protection is likely to be against fourteen point five millimeter armor-piercing rounds and protection can be enhanced with add-on explosive reactive armor kits again very very common most vehicles nowadays if you don't add-on kits it's kind of like you know it's a no-brainer you know if you can slap on some extra arm on the side of these things it's fantastic but I think one thing you've got to think about here guys is the more kind of armor kits that we put on these vehicles the more strain we put on that power pack now coming from a mechanical background and knowing how times work mechanically the more weight you put on these bad boys the more struggle they have and that engine is providing your mobile in the more strain you put on that the more risk you have of your vehicle just cut and put and doesn't want to go any further furthermore the arena active protection system and shatori countermeasures can easily be installed on this vehicle which again provides its defense and capabilities very very high such systems are usually associated with the main battle tanks however this IFE is able to provide that cover the fighting vehicle is primarily used for infantry and is going to be obviously fitted with an NBC protection system to provide them cover also it does protect itself with an automatic fire suppression system again both of these systems are very standard for most vehicles nowadays with that being said though guys in this particular scenario NBC is very very important you can remember when there's multiple people inside a vehicle the breathing rate of the oxygen in the excetera inside that vehicle is going to increase so the system inside this vehicle probably going to need to be pretty efficient to be able to withstand an NB C environment which clearly we don't ever want to go into in the military world because NBC is end of days we know that no one wants to be chemically attacked it's one of the worst ways that you could probably die on the battlefield of them being burnt alive is chemical attack and honestly in my own personal opinion I've seen the effects of chemical attacks and what they can do and it's just nasty nasty stuff so vehicles like this can provide coverage and protection for the soft weapon systems efficiently that's going to make complete sense and as I said before it's pretty common or standard map nowadays but it's nice to know this vehicle is supported with it to be able to provide that infantry that cover the bmp-3 is fitted with smoke discharges and it can also generate a smoke screen by injecting fuel into the exhaust this is pretty common for most armored fighting vehicles of today I must admit I enjoyed firing up the old smoke discharges on the corral and the Challenger twos back in the day they could create quite a mess if I quite an interesting story a few guys when I was going through basic training learning how to start up tank inside the tank Hagins and stuff we had a couple of crewmen who never even been in the vehicle for accidentally as they came into the crew compartment the drivers see at the vehicle they flicked both the smoke dischargers switches down as they climbed in accidentally with their boots and as they fired up the vehicle they put the pedal to the metal put the gas down as they're trying to get the engine to get nice and warm didn't realize that the smoke discharges are on half hatch and yeah the entire hangar filled with smokeless side-story flavor and we nearly got gassed out to death there to air that building out familiy an hour it was absolutely hilarious but yeah smoke dischargers clearly going to be very important for a small vehicle like this providing that infantry cover if you can pop some smoke and get a nice coverage arc in front of you to be able to withdraw very very handy especially when dropping off infantry and you know infantry against infantry it's going to be kind of a no-brainer popping that smoke and being able to provide cover but there's now obviously systems in place nowadays that can actually kind of see the thermal imaging through the smoke screen and stuff so not as effective as the older days when they clearly it was very very effective system to defend vehicles but still something very nice the infantry can utilize and help with and the smoke discharges from the turbos was obviously you can kind of make a movable smoke screen serviced a standalone arced range of smoke grenades which is cool to have this immature fighter vehicle has a crew of three and carry up to seven troops so pretty much a small squadrons very handy and clearly these vehicles on work just in one or two they're gonna be in mass which is pretty typical Russian doctrine get as many troops karenann vehicles which can rushing towards the enemy but I'm not too sure really how a Russian doctor you may have changed a little bit since then maybe I'll do some more researchers that maybe I'll do a video on it the two infantrymen are located on each side of the driver and operate the bow mounted machine gun sir bow bow rest of the troops are seated in the rear and to inward-facing bench seats over the engine pack it's worth mentioning though the troop opponent is extremely cramped so extra weaponry you know anti-tank weapons and such it's going very difficult for the infantry to pull inside with them infantrymen enter and leave via the exit rear doors and roof hatches again we know for a fact that this vehicle is going to have quite weak armor in these particular areas and that's going to be a given it's not designed to be able to take hits from the from the rear really as much primarily the front and that's where my drove its arm is going to be placed so it's going to be up to the driver and the commander to be able to place that vehicle head-on towards the enemy hold down to try and get as much protection as possible to provide against any potential enemy IFE attack or main battle tank attack or any kind of anti-tank item this our front towards the enemy is key so it is one of the weaknesses the BMP 3 is having that two thinner Armour tools the rear doors and hatches but that's pretty common that's not nothing new we know that's apparent for most vehicles even the warrior I know it's armored isn't exactly the thickest towards rear doors them so the BMP 3 is powered by the utd 29 diesel engine developing around 500 horsepower not that much but when you consider the vehicle size and it's pretty powerful as you can see in these videos right now it's punching through pretty quickly I mean it's not doing too bad off-road and it's doing pretty well for itself the engine is mounted at the rear and which some people will say well if it was mad at the front it be better protection for the armor not so much guys you got to think an engine really isn't that much more protection from armor-piercing rounds it's only aluminum steel another couple of you know italic objects there's no steel reactive armor in such in there that could potentially be used instead an engine really isn't an armored block as a lot of people think it is you know I'm a piercing rounds easily going to chop through an engine bay pretty quickly so engine to the rear may be a positive thing because they can put more armored towards the front of the vehicle the IFE has a hydrogen Matt expansion system as you can see in these videos popping around all over the place very very happily offroad which actually can be adjusted to suit the type of ground that is being crossed and the vehicle is fully amphibious and this is very very important and very very cool to be honest I think it's something that Western world should start thinking about doing when it comes to crossing bridges and stuff we have these big heavy heavily armored vehicles the other day if we can try and get vehicles that could actually cross a river on their own like the BMP 3 does very advantageous you think about the actual ground that vehicle like that can cover when it can pretty much go any way you want it to go or in propulsion on water is actually provided by two water jets not propellers guys it's not material or propellers don't drop down sir with water jets stretching pushing up despite its formidable capabilities the bmp-3 becomes a little bit outdated though and the new generation of I can't say this very wrong on a try my best coconuts 25 ifes were developed for the Russian army it was publicly revealed in 2015 however due to funding problems it's unlikely that the colonel purgin it's 25 account setter will be fielded in large numbers there are multiple variants of this vehicle the BMP 3k command vehicle the BMP 3 F marine version of the infantry fighting vehicle it has improved and fibia scape abilities and can operate at sea the BMP 3 M is an improved export version fitted with the new utd 32 T turbocharged engine developing 660 horsepower so squeezing out about another hundred 60 horsepower which ravika love this size is actually pretty impressive this IV also has a new fire control system the pro3 Lynx otherwise known as is an armoured recurrent reconnaissance vehicle with 800 millimeter gun removed the to s3 one vina or vane has a 120 millimeter mortar system installed and there are a couple other variants including an anti-tank missile carrier and a minefield breaching system so guys that's pretty much the overview of the BMP 3 as I said before I honestly think this is quite an impressive IFV clearly they've gone for mobility once again getting that suspension nice and tweaked fantastic power-to-weight ratio 500 horsepower for a vehicle this size is more than enough for me it's being able to punch pretty fast it's not heavily up-armored it's able to carry a number of troops to get them on the battlefield and honestly my most impressive feature of this vehicle is its armament 100 millimeter gun is clearly going to provide some extremely good fire support for those infantry being dropped off and obviously the side mounted 30 millimeter cannon as well I mean most is at the western world of running with the 30 millimeter cannons or 25 millimeter 20 millimeter whatever it may be and kind of a just a suppression system or this kind of vehicle it is actually able to provide some serious fire support and potentially like I said before kind of spearhead an armored attack a little bit instead of just being that vehicle that drops the troops shoots and scoots backs off and off we go this vehicle could in in essence drop off its troops park up say a kilometer and down the road even advanced a little bit ahead of the troops pop off a couple of anti-tank guided missiles just like the Bradley I guess but even then it's got a little bit more power to punch with that hundred millimeter cannon the 30 millimeter really putting rounds downrange potentially being more of an attack vehicle than just a support vehicle so like I said it kind of does resemble a little bit more of a light tank but I personally would never classify it as that the other day its armor is not at that point where it should be designated as a light tank I would always put this down as a troop bus it's a it's a battle bus getting troops on the ground safely providing them providing them with as much fire sports humanly possible to allow them to do their job properly and then getting back out there taking up more troops so to speak getting them on the frontline whatever it may be but mobility is keen as I said before the Russians learn that from the Second World War mobility is most important and this vehicle clearly can punch all over the damn place I mean it's fast it's got that great suspension it's able to shoot and scoot and get moving so my personal opinion I'm actually really really impressed with this book I'd like to tachi I love to honestly take one of these things for a drive I'd love to see how it compared to the warrior and even like the Bradley I mean the Bradley is a chunky little beast and it it probably put punch down too but I'd love to kind of put the three of them the warrior this guy and the Bradley against one another and kind of see you know in terms of maneuverability mobility how well they do be pretty impressive as a lot of technicalities there are different vehicle types like that but it'd just be cool to have a go and see how they do and anyway guys that is the overview of bmp-3 and my thoughts and opinions hopefully you enjoyed the video please feel free to leave a like and a comment I'd love for you guys to discuss what you feel about this vehicle if there's any in discrepancies or things that I've said wrong I am so sorry I'm going off the best knowledge and sources that I've researched I can find if anything is wrong guys please leave in the comment section below and I will try my best to correct it and annotate as I can in the description once again thank you so much for watching I hope you have a great day all the best and Bubba you
