somebody oughta be encouraged today no matter what you're pacing huh no matter what your circumstance huh no matter what your position huh God is already working on your behalf hallelujah if you stand with me for the reading of the word today won't you high-five somebody and tell him he's already working it out amen I want to tell you that on any given Sunday and today as well there's probably four to five families that are sitting in my church that come directly from the funerals I preached of two backsliders their family saw how much they changed in just a short period of time and through pain God is bringing revival it's part of the process it's part of the process as you're turning to the book of Exodus chapter 15 beginning in verse 22 Exodus 15 beginning of verse 22 I would like to say again what an honor it is to be here thank you pastor Lehman Thank You Bishop Woodward and Matt Woodward and the team thank you so much for bringing me in for this weekend and I have enjoyed being here I've been blessed as much as I have blessed you I promise I send greetings from my wife Amanda and my three children Courtney Sidney and Isaac they are grateful that you're taking care of their dad and their husband and they would love to come and see you sometime and and Jesus name we're gonna work that out one day and I bring the whole crew and it'll be it'll be a lot of fun they are amazing and right now it's 10:42 back home so they're in the middle of adult Sunday School class and so just pray for truth Chapel today they have a great service and somebody gets baptized if somebody gets the Holy Ghost in Jesus name Jesus name I promise the NADA holds you long today but I want to just preach to you a very very simple message from the Word of God and if you have Exodus 15 beginning in 22 just shout amen so Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea and they went out into the wilderness of Shur and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water when they came to Marah they could not drink the waters of Marah for they were bitter somebody say they were bitter therefore the name of it was called Marah and people murmured against Moses saying what shall we drink and he cried to the Lord and the Lord showed him a tree somebody say a tree which when he had cast into the waters the waters were made sweet there he made for them a statute in an ordinance and there he proved them and said if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God and will do that which is right in his sight and will give ear to His commandments and keep all of his statutes I will put none of these diseases upon thee which I have brought upon the Egyptians for I am the lord that he loved thee and they came to Elim where were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees and they encamped there by the waters if you'll allow me for just a few moments today I want to preach to you the bitter tree for me the bitter tree for me amen let's pray together God I love you I thank you for your word today I thank you that I feel your presence in this room God you've been here from the very first song the very first a man the very first welcome your presence has been in this room you inhabit the praises of your people you inhabit the taquila praise of this group and congregation and so God I know that you are here now God will you allow your word to do the work for you have chose the preaching of the gospel to save them that believe and so God today I pray that the gospel would be preached and that ears would be opened and that hearts would be pricked and that there would be a repercussion from the words today of activity and reaction I pray it in the name that is above every name I pray that every heart would be touched every mine will be touched today in the name of Jesus somebody shout in Jesus name called shouted again in Jesus name Amen turn to your neighbor as you're seated and tell him the bitter tree was for me the story and the history of the escape of the Hebrews is one of the greatest stories of deliverance in the Bible it is an amazing it is amazing foreshadowing and allegory of what God is going to do in your life today after being trapped by Egypt in slavery for over 400 years God says enough God remembers his people and God remembers his promise and when God remembers his people and when God remembers his promise he calls a man by the name of Moses to lead the people out of Egypt he calls Moses to be his voice peace and to be his prophet to speak on his behalf and look into the eyes of Pharaoh and say emphatically and declare Pharaoh let my people go and I want to encourage you today that if you are in the grip of sin and if you are lost today if you are living a life that you know is not pleasing to the Lord and you don't want to live that life anymore there is a man by the name of Jesus who has already went to death and the grave and said enemy Satan let my people go God has already made a way of escape God has already made a promise and set it in place for you today you don't have to do anything you don't have to go anywhere you don't have to bleed any drops of blood but you can receive it today right here it won't cost you a dime we won't charge you anything you have to sign no paperwork there's no contract involved all the work has already been done by him on Calvary's tree all you got to do is receive that blessed Redemption today receive that blessed deliverance today for God has already looked death hell in the grave in the eyes and said let my people go God in dramatic flair releases the children of Israel God in dramatic flair sets them apart from Egypt as he puts a plague upon plague upon plague on Egypt and every plague is a slap in the face of one of Egypt's gods and it's just God's saying I'm greater than your God and I'm greater than your enemy I'm greater if God before you then who can be against you if the Lord is on my side who cares who's against me greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world can I get an amen today is there anybody in the room who was once a lost in sin huh but Jesus took you in huh are there any it's drug addicts in the room huh are there any ex alcoholics in the room that can lift their voice and say when God said let my people go huh but devil had no choice but to release me and release my family huh then release my heart and my mind hallelujah we are overcomers up by the power of our testimony I once was lost in seeing huh but Jesus took me in huh I was bound broken bruised busted and disgusted huh but when Jesus came into my life huh Egypt had no choice but to let me go he may be seated the same way Egypt was released is the same way you're the same way Egypt had to release Israel is the same way the world has to release you and in like fashion Israel's release is predicated upon one moment when God tells every man of the household to take a lamb and slay the lamb and take the blood of the lamb and put it on your doorpost to put it on your doorpost and he said I'm sending the death angel and when the angel comes into your area and he sees the blood he will pass over your house is there anybody that's still grateful for the blood is there anybody that's still thankful for the blood pouring reaches to the highest mountain and it flows to the lowest Valley it's the blood that gives me strength from day to day and it will never lose its power hey Manny Mass I still think it's right and proper to plead the blood of Jesus let me say it again I said I still think it's right and proper to put your hands on your children and say I plead the blood of Jesus over my child how I still think it's right and proper huh to put your hands on the sick and wounded huh and say I plead the blood of Jesus I plead the blood of Jesus but it didn't stop at the blood it had to be the body as well after you put the blood of the lamb on your doorpost the body comes into effect now take the body of the lamb into your house cook him with some carrots and onions and eat them eat the lamb when I say eat the lamb because taking the blood also you have to take the body take the lamb in your household and cook him and eat them because the blood on your doorpost is no effect if the lamb isn't in your belly it takes the blood of the lamb and the body of the lamb and he said then when you eat the lamb do not eat this is Bible I'm not paraphrasing but I'm telling you exactly what the Bible says he says when you eat the lamb do not eat the lamb in your pajamas what he said don't eat the lamb in your nightclothes he said but eat the lamb fully dressed with your running shoes on and your walking stick in your hand because once the blood is applied and the lamb is in your belly we got to go to the water it's leaving time once the blood is on the doorpost and the lamb is in your belly it's time to go to the water hallelujah hallelujah and it was in the Red Sea that Pharaoh and his army was destroyed and I come to tell somebody huh you may have repented of your sins and you may have received the gift of the Holy Ghost the lamb in your belly but you need to be baptized in the name because when you're baptized in the name when you go down in that water huh Pharaoh has to let you go forever repent and then be baptized for the remission or the washing away or the eradication of your sins those sins don't hold me any longer huh they were washed away in the water huh those sins no more have no more effect on me huh they were washed away in the water after you may be seated after they are released from Egypt they're set free from the grasp and the hold of Pharaoh Pharaoh is dead let me get to walk into this wilderness Pharaoh is gone his army is no longer a part of their world never never again never again never again never again in the history of the Israelite people well they have to face another Pharaoh they will face the Philistines they will face Hittites and parasites and amirite sand Hittites they will fight Canaanites but they will never fight a pharaoh again hmm when you went down in that water everything that went down and out water with you you should never have to fight it again let me say you should never have to fight it again everything that went down in that water you may have some more battles tomorrow you may you may meet a hittite somewhere you may meet a Philistine somewhere but but whatever went down in that water with you baby it stays in the water after the Holy Ghost right there whatever went down and then water with you whatever you're facing right now if you're baptized in Jesus name you'll never have to fight it again in Jesus name you may fight something else down the road but Pharaoh is dead huh pero esta hallelujah hey man may be seated but but I want to point out to you here that that they didn't walk across the Red Sea and walk into the Promised Land there was a journey between somebody say between it was a journey between there was a journey between Egypt and Canaan land a process 3 days into this process there's no water there's nothing to drink and so they come to a place called Moriah and at this place called Marah here is a great body of water I can imagine the first few folks who saw this water and ran and just jumped in there I can imagine the first few people who got a hand full of that water and put it in their mouth realized ah this is horrible and Moses and the elders try the water themselves and it's bitter it's undrinkable it's no good people begin to murmur Moses has brought us out here to die God's gonna get that murmur and spirit out of them it's gonna take him about 40 years but he's don't get it out of them but they begin to murmur Oh Moses has let us out here to die Moses has done us wrong there's no water and Moses says lord help me here I know that your plan is not to let us die in this place I know that your plan isn't to lead us here and let us die there's got to be something that can take this bitter water and make it sweet and God says you see that tree right there he said I see the tree he said take the tree and throw it in the water so he takes the tree the Hebrew writers call this tree Daphne it is rose Laurel and the Hebrew writers in this moment say that this miracle is even more great when you discover the properties of the Rhoda Daphne Rose Laurel it bears flowers like lilies and the flowers themselves are exceedingly bitter the bark of this tree is exceedingly bitter and the fruit of this tree is exceedingly bitter they say the miracle at this moment is even greater because God took a bitter tree and put it in bitter water and made something sweet today I want to talk to you about that bitter tree you see I want to speak to some people today that are trying to come out of Egypt but your story is a bitter story your past is a bitter past you have nothing good to say about yesterday you have nothing good to say about yesteryear up to this point your life has been one bitter drink after the other I know where you're coming from because I too have a bitter story I too know what it's like to have a bitter past to be raised in the house of a preacher and still almost lose my life to the world I know what it's like to come to God to an altar and have nothing to offer him but bitterness free from Egypt to born again so to speak but still be dealing with a bitter spirit and a bitter life and a bitter struggle my water was a bitter every cup that I put to my lips was bitter everything about my world was bitter but I remembered that there was a bitter tree for me can I preach to you about this bitter tree you see the bitter tree begins with a slap in the face the bitter tree begins with a broken read across the cheek of my Messiah the bitter tree begins with the crown of thorns that is pushed down onto the head I'm breaking through the skin and the capillaries of releasing blood and pain releasing sweat releasing the salt of the sweat into the wound the pain is almost unbearable you see my bitter tree is very very bitter huh it has in its storyline a cat of nine tails where it was put across his back and he was ripped open the flesh was ripped open exposing ribcage and exposing bone and Meeta as his back was shredded for me his back was shredded for me you see my bitter tree was put upon his shoulder huh and he had to carry it all by himself huh I took dog out this heel huh that bitter tree was laid on the ground his hands were stretched wide they took iron spikes up and drove them through his hand and with every pound he could have called down a legion of angels to release him from this moment but the tree was more important because that bitter tree was from my bitter life they took his feet up and put him together and took one long metal spike and drove it through both feet up securing him to that tree huh they secured him to the tree and they secured my future at the same time they secured him to the tree and they secured my party huh at the same time yet I offer the Holy Ghost in here right now that bitter tree was lifted from the earth and I can see the devil's eyes get wide when he remembers the scripture I be lifted up with draw all men unto me that bitter tree was set in place that bitter tree represented a stab in the side where water in blood was released that bitter tree is where he lifted his voice and said Eli Eli lama sabachthani my God my God why hast thou forsaken me that bitter tree is where he opened his mouth and said Father forgive them for they know not what they do that bitter tree represented this 3 sentence life-altering moment it is finished but when that bitter tree touched my bitter life my life was so bitter my life was so undone but when that bitter tree met my bitter life something sweet the song says something beautiful something good all of my confusion Jesus understood all I had to offer him was broken this up and strive but he made something beautiful of my life when that bitter tree touches your bitter world today sir there's gonna be something sweet that takes place when that bitter tree touches your bitter life today ma'am at the cross at the cross where I first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away it was there by faith I receive mice on a hill far away stands an old rugged cross it's the implement and that'll cross where my dearest and best for a world of lost sinner's was slain sir that bitter tree is calling to you today Saint come come all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest Isaiah 53 says it like this he is despised and rejected of men he's a man of sorrows he's acquainted with grief and bitterness and we hid as it were our faces from him he was despised and we esteemed him not surely he hath borne carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken smitten of God and afflicted but he was wounded for my transgressions he was bruised for my iniquities the chastisement of the peace I've been praying about it was upon him it was on him it was on him the chastisement of my peace was upon him and with His stripes I'm healed come on that bitter tree it's still standing today true and upright and it is still calling to a sinner today it is still calling to someone are you here today in your life is bitter are you here today and you said to yourself in the last 48 hours oh this life is it not worth living this life isn't worth living anymore I don't know what to do I don't know where to turn all I see is bitterness can I show you a tree it is bitter in itself huh it is bitter in its properties the beautiful flowers of this tree are bitter it was not gotten by sweetness it is bitter but if you come to that tree it will take your bitter life and mix it with the bitter tree and it will be sweet it will be sweet he said coming to me and I'll give you a rest I'll give you a rest once the bitter tree was put in the bitter water and there was sweetness now now we can go to helium huh where there's 12 good whales of water and there are 70 palm trees come unto me and I will give you rest revelation 22 blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the Tree of Life and may enter in through the gates into the city I'm I'm done today I don't have a whole lot more to preach music you can go ahead and start coming I know faster would work today I know I'm sitting in in the presence of theologian and a great studious man of the Word of God I don't want to by any means by any means try to add or take away but I wonder because just how God is and how his plan works I wonder if that tree of life that Adam and Eve stood and ate from is there any way I could have survived do the annuals of time is there any way that tree could survived the flood is there any way that tree is there any way that tree could have made it all the way for a Roman soldier walking in the middle of nowhere this one looks good taking an axe cutting it down I know it's far-fetched but justjust just allow me some comic book moment from you to that tree of life been the one that some Roman soldier in some other place by this time grown not this time Rome had made thousands upon thousands of crosses it had to make their journey broader to find trees to make crosses and some unknown land some Roman soldier or some Roman carpenter or some Roman subcontractor and some far-off place laid his axe to the side of the tree of life through a process of being human cut formed in shape when the roman soldier goes to the ban of crosses shifting through the prepared crosses in some potter's field somewhere grabs them specific Jesus's pushed out of his sail stumbling into the streets bleeding profusely the tree that Adam and Eve ate from every day the Tree of Life just placed on the shoulders maybe Jesus slides in closer to him good to see all friend let's do this together Tree of Life I don't know what it looked like in the garden but that tree of life for me today there's a cross the story of that tree is the most bitter story ever told of you today will bring your better story to the base of a bitter tree and sit at the foot of the cross you may be here today and you may be saying at the cross the cross where I first saw clay or you may be saying take me back take me no matter what song you sing today whether you are coming for the first time whether you're here today and you need to go back to Calgary that tree is called in to you he's calling all bitter stories all bitter circumstances all bitter waters to me let your bitter life meet this bitter tree and watch something sweet by His stripes he are healed he wants to heal your story I said he wants to heal your story he wants to heal your heart sir he wants to heal your emotions he wants to heal your unforgiveness and your anger he wants to heal you ma'am he wants to heal you your wounds and your depression and your hurt and your pain and bring it to the bitter tree today bring it bring it to the bitter tree bring your bitter story your bitter life to the bitter tree it will flow like sweetness would you stand with me today as you're standing every head bowed every eye closed and out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food The Tree of Life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good on a hue far away stood an old rugged the emblem see all what bitterness shame it's what it represents what it looks like but I love that old course where my dearest my world can we just sing it one time can we sing it one time and I'll cherish and I'll chew there's my story here's my story and I'll grab the prom and I'll exchange it every head bowed every eye closed what were you exchange today would you come to an altar today this altar represents that base of the cross would you make your way out of your Pew today and come to an altar would you carry your story to this halter god I bring the bitterest story my trophies at last I lay them here's my trophies they are there our brokenness they are shame they are guilty they are complacency they are wounds here here's my trophies God here's what I've done here head coach I for the Holy Ghost hey I Bowl Sunday a CC let's eat come on come in closer come in closer come in closer here's my story got
