I love the smell of price to Performance gaming PC in the morning that's right in today's video we're going to be putting together what describe as probably some of the best value components if you want a PC that has a lot of poke but you don't want to poke your wallet off the edge of a cliff even for me these are getting bad as always we've grabbed some of the latest and greatest components including the brand new ryzen 7700 CPU this pretty epic little case from Cooler Master and we'll be showing you how to put everything together what's hot and what's not and of course show you those all-important gameplay Benchmark numbers so you know exactly how this thing performs so let's show you some value shall we and get our build on right after short word from this video sponsor Corsair murals is the ultimate way to get the RGB setups of your dreams with murals you can sync together your Corsair components and peripherals for a truly show-stopping display but now you can even integrate with both Philips U and nanoleaf you can create different effects based on Colors audio or even your gameplay thanks to monitor capture the end result is crazy download courseware IQ for free and get started with murals today let us Begin by discussing the two newest components that we have on our desk firstly the ryzen 7700 and this is genuinely quite exciting for me because when it comes to Value I think this and the 7600 are going to be the way to go because while they did launch the X versions of these a few months ago they don't actually really offer any extra performance yet they cost a whole lot more money so when you're building on a more expensive but more future-proof platform having a chip that has fantastic performance but costs a bit less is tuning me quite exciting and then we also I'm like looking around why can't I find it we have a brand new case and I say brand new I say brand new this is actually a V2 version of cooler Master's very popular td500 mesh and I think this is one of the best looking cases you can get on the market I use this ages ago actually when the 3080 launched and I think my main not problem with it but the thing I didn't like about it was that the cable management with all of the different fans and RGB was a bit Yeah and actually the build quality wasn't the absolute best so I'm hoping that things have changed a little bit with this but this is pretty much like a rival to something like corsair's 4000d which for the money offers pretty much the best price performance for a pretty cool looking chassis but this one actually comes with RGB fans as standard which arguably makes it even better value than the ones from Corsair and then while not strictly speaking the newest component that we have here today this has also picked my interest because when we recently did our graphics card buyer's guide we looked strictly speaking at Value and this is one of the ones that actually came out on top when it comes to some more of the high-end cards that do offer better price to Performance like the Nvidia cards in some instances will be better things like dlss for instance but you can't argue that if you can get this for about 50 pounds less that's actually a substantial amount because this is still going to set you back something like 350 maybe 360 pounds so this is hardly a cheap thing when you think you can buy like a Xbox series X for what 80 90 pounds more for a whole system so in isolation this still isn't fantastic value but when you compare it to the other graphics cards that are on the market this actually is worth considering if you're going for a price to Performance like we are here today up up oh it's all right it's all right I landed on carpets only a seat for you it'll be fine I'll be fine what's the PC Centric video without dropping something huh but how about less gas more action as we actually start our build and the motherboard that we're using as our platform is a b650 aorus elite ax for a gaming PC b650 or b650e is almost certainly what you're going to want to go for Because unless you've got loads of money to spend and you know you're going to want like endless PCI Gen 5 support then there's not really any reason to go for the higher end boards because you don't really get any real world features that are going to make any difference to you today and by the time you actually need all of those Gen 5 features chances are you'll be looking at newer motherboards with even more features arguably for even less money as well but don't go thinking that this is a cheap motherboard because unfortunately pretty much all the new boards from Intel and AMD have gone up in price quite a lot you could say this is down to all of the extra circuitry and things but I would say well if boards are always getting better why have they gone up so much in price inflation all of that usual stuff but this is pretty much going to be a solid platform it does have support for PCI Gen 5 but only on this top SSD you don't get it on any of these lower slots let's grab our CPU and get this installed so this is the ryzen 7700 this is an 8 core CPU that free gaming PC is honestly all you're going to need unless you are doing some other things on the side as well and when I say other things I'm talking about like game streaming or running proper other applications not things like a web browse or an Excel spreadsheet this is going to be more than sufficient for that but fundamentally the reason that this is so good is because it's single core performance is very very strong yet unlike the stuff from Intel it doesn't actually consume that much power at all I think this is a 65 watt chip curl correct me if I'm wrong but compared to like the 200 odd Watts that you'll find on Intel it is quite a substantial difference we are also going to save ourselves a little bit of money on the ram because this is not RGB this is from Kingston This is their Fury Beast this is actually an XMP kit which means it doesn't have an AMD Expo profile but it should still work absolutely fine if not you can I guess do manual timings and things try and get this to work but if you can for this very reason get hold of an expo kit I would actually recommend it because it should work a whole lot better with AMD boards and it doesn't guarantee compatibility but it should increase your chances but realistically I've only actually seen issues with ram kits that run at really high speeds I think this one runs at 5200 megahertz that isn't the fastest but you're not paying for Speed to that you're not really going to be able to take full advantage of at the moment oh can I play my favorite game and actually get this through the ring light no not today not today that was meant to be a smooth transition but I've failed to actually talk about the SSD and I would never have believed that Kingston's fastest SSD or at least at the time their fastest SSD the KC 3000 would be appearing in a sort of price performance video but this is a two terabyte version you can get it for 150 quid and when I checked before actually filming all this you can get the one terabyte version for 90. that is insane and it really does beg the question of if you can save like 15 20 quid and get a slower speed is it worth it probably not just go for balls to the wall right out the gate because it is gonna pay dividends a little bit later as more and more games come out that do support direct storage and you have things like in real five engine games and things that will take advantage of fast ssds I do think this is overkill but that's not a reason to not go for it if it's not really any more expensive but these days when it's not really that much more I think it is actually worth the asking price look at that tallest SSD that you then need a screwdriver to actually Mount but there we go that is in we can now take this opportunity to pick up our cooler and get this installed I'm going for air just because again the value is just so much better and to be honest I'm so bored of bloody radiators and every single build I know they look good but when you can get hold of a cooler like this that looks just as much the business does it really matter this isn't huge so it's not going to like take over your whole motherboard you still have RGB look so it is going to illuminate and look very pretty and you can find this around about 40-ish maybe 45 pounds depending on where and when you get it from this is one from be quiet and to be honest the main reason I've gone for this rather than The Cooler Master one that would match this I guess slightly better is because you need like an upgrade kit for am5 whereas this will actually mount with the am4 method that uses the existing structure I suppose the existing screws so you don't need to worry about getting any extra upgrade kits this is what I like to call my big bag of scary stuff but actually installing this is very very easy it's a Doddle so we just move the fan from the cooler like so we then unscrew the default am5 mounting hardware let's grab these little plastic tubes that need to go on these four corners and just place them down like that grab the AMD mounting brackets and just gently place them on top screw them down with the long screws if you're buying this cooler brand new then you would have some thermal paste either pre-applied or inside the box but as I'm reusing this for probably like the fifth time I do need to add some more it's always worth having a tube around in case you need to do this it only costs you about five six quid oh this tube's almost out look let's top this up with just a tiny bit more there you go it looks quite a lot but I assure you it's not then we can pick up and grab the cooler and just gently line this up with the CPU pick up this little metal bar and just lay this over the top of the cooler then get these little hex screws fit this into position do a little bit of pressure on one side and then move back to the other so you're not straining anything then you can pick up your fan again and gently lay this against the cooler I'm not a huge fan of this mechanism because the pins keep coming out it's probably easier to do one of these little coat hangers one at a time just line it up with the top and then look it just Clips on this side like this the only other thing you need to do are to grab the RGB and the fan cables the fan plugs into this little gray CPU header at the top and then this little RGB cable just connects to this header on the top right of the board before you can do a little bit of cable management tuck it under the fan and then you should have your completed motherboard combination it looks pretty nice doesn't it I always get comments from people that say they don't like the look of air coolers but I think when they're small and discreet enough I do think they look very good and remember the fundamental difference between this and an Intel system is that you don't need masses and masses of cooling because this is only a lower powered chip so something like this is actually going to be sufficient cool quiet all-round Friendly Gaming System without the cost and expense of having like masses of cooling but I think now comes the time to actually have a closer look at our chassis the TD 500 mesh V2 and right off the bat I am disappointed do you want to know why because this is not a captive thumb screw no r10 don't buy a joke but seriously Cooler Master like why it's surely it's like no extra expense and if it is it's like genuine pennies as for the other side it is exactly the same oh no it's not this side does actually have Captain thumb screws that's even more bizarre is it just ah it slides off it was just stiff for the first time there we go have a look inside actually this is a little bit on the flimsier side it doesn't make any difference but there's no light acoustic treatment or proper strength and rigidity there I do like this a proper full RGB Hub I love these so much because while the mechanism like three pins that bend still isn't particularly fantastic but I like that it's simple yes something like a Corsair or lean Lee system is going to be better I mean the lean Lee is the best if you ask me because they also have days chained together not that many cables fantastic but this is just so much more affordable and it's going to work with pretty much every brand of RGB fans really other than corsairs so if you do want to sort them out go for something else you can still use this it's cheap it's cheerful it's easy to Cable manage I like it let's unwrap our bundler joy and actually see what's inside this I mean the thing that I'm thinking is just that this is a very big box with just a couple of screws I think this is a review is special I don't think everyone gets this because this is a gem I mean I'm intrigued now does this just magnetically sit on your PC it's very big I mean that is very big oh yeah yes that's what that does very strong magnet what's it do again Gamepad holder headset holder multi-service tool is mounting venoid Cooler Master here's a Corsair headset there we go even on this it's strong enough you happy you included it in the Box you got little shout out cheeky so I guess that all of the cables you actually need or all of the screws I should say are actually located in this bundle of joy down here one of the main differences with this case is that you do now get USB type c on the front and you can actually take this top panel off as well and then sort of Mount the fans or radiators externally if you want to do that but otherwise not too much has actually changed but it was good before I like the look of it and to be fair build quality does actually seem to be slightly better Fair bit more rigid it's just that side panel that's a bit but you know the drill by now let's grab our case and lay it down flat grab our motherboard and just gently line this up with the back I O plate give it a little wiggle so it sort of Falls in to place screw it down so it's safe and secure and then we can pick it back up and actually have a look at our system mid progress and I do think this is a fair bit bigger than the old one actually it seems slightly taller to me whether it will fit the largest of graphics cards and radiators and things well let's have a little demo and find out this is the largest one I have this is the 4090 master and this should be fine as long as you don't want to put a front mounted radiator here but this is a very extreme example I think anyone complaining of this it's not really fair to be honest here's a normal 4080 this one and you can see you do have loads of rims so if you're wanting to do like the ultimate water called everything okay maybe is slightly not like wide enough but I think for most people that don't actually want their whole desk taken up by a system this actually is probably about right so good let's grab all our cables though and start plugging in the connections our USB 3 that is actually purple plugs in here at the bottom right hand side USBC it's right here next to the ram HD audio is located here at the bottom left hand side next to that is an addressable RGB for the case lighting we've also got another fan header here for the case fan control and the last but certainly not least we have all of our front panel connections I would actually prefer that there was another little cut out here Cooler Master I'm not sure why you haven't done one just plug all of these tiny connections down here at the bottom oh I'm so glad we don't have to put a radiator in this because it means we are actually almost done and we can move on to the graphics card again this is the 6700 XT and assuming you want to do high refresh rate 1440p this represents good value that's not good value versus as I say a console it's good value versus other graphics cards this does tend to cost about 350 pounds on a good day and that should get you 1440p 100 165 Hertz and quite a few titles actually and depending on the game that you want to play you can actually do 4K as well either by using FSR to sort of up Res from a low resolution or in some native games maybe even something like Forza 4 I would say 4K probably actually isn't too much of a big ask let's remove the top two slots so we can get this installed we do have proper pcie covers but they're not thumb screws so they're slightly harder to screw in but again very nitpicky am I being too harsh today I don't know I think it's just because this is otherwise a very good case and I do just want to let you know the sort of things that you not miss out on but the compromises you make by saving that like extra 20 quid versus going for like a Corsair and adding fans so that is in let's give it a little screw home and now you can see as long as you're happy with this little silver accent down the bottom it does fit very nicely into our rig and you can see you've got so much space here which is why I say the review that I saw online of this case and one of the complaints was it's not quite wide enough I think it's very harsh cool but that is in which means we just need our power supply and then we are good to go I think it's nice spacing in this because don't forget the more space you have the more air you sort of have to move around and you're going to have to worry less about thermals I don't think you're going to have to stress about that at all in here especially with the three fans on the front the only thing that might be worth doing is to actually put another fan at the back and fortunately for you guys we do have one this is a sickle flow 120 argb and this will just connect to David chain into the connection we have at the back I mean it's probably worth actually plugging in the RGB from this fan into the connections as well unless you want it to be different so we just pop this in at the top use the screws that come in the box to fit this down feed the cable around the back oh and then we've got to hope that we have enough length on this that we don't why why call a master they're too short do I have an extension cable yes I think we do I think we're good but yeah Cooler Master serious marks down for that I don't know what you were thinking there but with that mild annoyance out the way the only thing left to do is to install our power supply and this is not old but it's not the most current one this is the mwe 650 gold V2 and this should be more affordable than some of the newer offerings that do come with PCI Gen 5 cables as standard depends on the price difference and you don't necessarily need it here so I would say save the money and grab this but if you are looking to upgrade in the future and you think you might go for an Nvidia card then obviously that is worth bearing in mind let's turn this round and drop this into place hopefully I don't need to remove that HD audio connection that I don't screw this into place plug in the SATA connection down the bottom to the case lighting and the RGB controller then you've got the big ATX on the right hand side the graphics card two eight pins and then our CPU eight pin at the top right hand corner do note that there is an extra four pin next to it but with this CPU you don't really need to use it if you want it to look as neat as possible then that's absolutely fine but this is for power delivery over 150 watts and you're just not going to be getting that with this CPU okay I think we are just about there this is our finalized system needs a little bit more cable management I would also love to have a cut out here because it's quite annoying having this cable dangling along the side you could potentially come underneath but it's a little bit too long for my liking so I don't think it's going to look perfect either way but otherwise I do actually like this chassis I don't really have any major problems with it I know I've been calling things out but that is all very nitpicky you've got lovely fans on the front here as long as you can tune them to be pretty nice and quiet all good with me it's a nice size it looks good and it's pretty affordable the only problem is with that external fan that isn't actually a part of this chassis that had cables too small everything else has sort of worked and this is also new you get a cover that you can either take off or use depending on whether you want to see your power supply branding let's show you around the back one more time so you can see what we're working with I mean there's not like masses of channels and things that are very obvious to use but there is plenty of room here so I don't think it's going to be a huge concern this is with literally zero cable management and you can see it's not neat but it's not untidy which is something that's always nice to see we use the height y40 last week you can find that video in the top round corner of your screen and that was pretty much garbage for cable management it really was whereas this I don't think you're going to have a major issue just be aware there aren't masses of tight end points and you don't have like the cable management straps by default that would be nice to see let's get this thing plugged in and actually to see if it works shall we and of course the PC Centric mouse mat link for this is down below web one today created the PC gaming gods that this is going to work where's the button there it is well that is a good sign we have some life but we don't have any RGB but that's okay it could just be the motherboard signal at the moment oh we've got RGB now looks good doesn't it I like it in white actually as well black and white we get a nice bit of Pop we've got a red light at the moment isn't the best sign in the world but it does do some memory training with the Horizon system when you first boot it so oh I honestly I was getting married then I was getting worried then we did it it's there the stress was not necessary b650 ARS Elite new CPU installed it's what we like to see I've actually already got Windows pre-loaded on this so it's now booting into this if you are using a brand new SSD that doesn't have Windows on it it's very simple Don't Panic just go to the windows website download a copy of Windows 11 and install it onto one of these drives you just whack it in the back and then it pretty much just takes care of itself it should boot into you press install and that's about it I would advise doing a slight bit of tuning before you actually install Windows and that is just to go into the BIOS again and enable the Expo or the XMP profile and make sure your fans are set to silent or set a custom curve because I find it's easier to do all of this now and then if you're having like a problem with your XMP profile you know that it's actually the XMP not anything else and then install Windows rather than sort of dealing with the later but it doesn't really matter cool that is building this system complete all I need to do is actually get this updated all of the games that you're going to want to see on this and show you the benchmarks in three two got you one and just like that we are here set up and ready to go and it actually defaulted as you can see to this White theme I do really like if you go over black and white you've got a few different silver accents even with a power supply I think this is a very nice looking system it's clearly very well themed I don't think you're actually missing out by not having the RGB memory everything just seems to work together but obviously the main benefit of a case like this is all about the airflow so you get the looks and the practicality as well but let's jump into some games the first one we have here is some Hogwarts Legacy this is running I suppose at the start of the game but obviously in one of the more demanding areas this is the outside area with the castle itself and you can see running at about 1440b this is actually running at 4K but it's using FSL 2.0 at the Quality mode so it's rendering at 1440p and upscaling it and you can see it's doing a very good job I mean is anyone really going to complain about this sort of frame rate around about 75 80 frames a second or so and you'd like to think most of the games should be this or actually a little bit higher let's show you the options menu for a second though here we've got fsr2 set to Quality as discussed but we actually do have this set to high not Ultra so let's see what happens when we up the settings a little bit come back out of the game I'm guessing we're probably going to be about 50 55 now and we are a little bit more than that actually pretty much a bang on perfect 60 frames a second you will probably get a few dips so if you're running this at a 60 hertz display with vsync then you might get a few stutters from here and there but ultimately if you have like a freesync premium Pro monitor or something like that then you should have a very smooth experience it's not the absolute best you can get this isn't 1440p 165 Hertz but obviously it's a very good looking game and you can sort of customize it really to your heart's content and don't forget this is running at 4K if we do turn this down a little bit by tweaking it to FSR balanced you can see this is running at just over 1080p now and in theory we should see much higher frames a second yeah around about 70 frames a second or so now so this is probably how most people want to play if you're playing them like a TV or something but I will say that Nvidia dlss is still clearly better than FSR because this definitely looks a fair bit softer I mean that maybe that's a bit harsh it looks softer not a fair bit softer than it would with dlss especially at 4K you can run like dlss performance and it still looks really good whereas anything less than quality you can start to notice a little bit of degradation in outright quality but it's still very sharp it's still very good and overall for this game it's a winner let us put our side panel on though and actually do ourselves a bit of a peel I've been looking forward to this because it does look a little bit odd with all of this on when you've got these sort of fake cracks on the glass but here we go are you ready a little bit tight but boom slow and steady wins the race you can't argue that is a good looking system let's press swiftly onto our next title though some cyberpunk 2077 and again this is running at 4K but we will upscale this with some clever Technologies let's set this to Ray tracing Ultra and really put this through its Paces though and see what it can do here we've got super resolution 2.1 is a fair bit better than 2.0 we set this to balanced I think and then everything else we can leave at the default Ray tracing Ultra and if I was a betting man what frame rate would we get I don't think it's going to be fantastic to be honest I reckon about 38 to 45 frames a second So you you're going to want to turn the settings down all the resolution down even the Nvidia cards sort of struggle unless you've got 38 or above actually playing this with dlss Ray tracing Ultra But ultimately we've got to be real world we've got to show you the highs and the lows of this system here we go here we go am I right no no I am not that is way off the mark this is borderline slideshow this is showing a latency of 230 milliseconds we're getting 19 FPS there's there's no way around that this is um this is unplayable so let's instead go into the settings and let's turn Ray tracing off for a second just to see if you can play this at 4K with FSR is it okay I mean it's still not great I mean I think this is where the real high-end cards come in like the Next Generation obviously depending on when you're watching this there might actually be an RX sort of uh 7700 or 7700 XT I was going to say 7 900 that'd be way off the Mark I'm getting confused and clearly those cards are designed for games like cyberpunk I mean even the Nvidia cards need the frame generation technique to get the Sky High frame rates but obviously if you do want to play cyberpunk it's a great looking game but it is a very demonic one so let's turn this down to 1440p to see how real world that is I'd be surprised if you weren't getting 60 FPS at 1440p and yeah here we go it seems to me as if this is just a title that is disproportionately difficult to run at 4K resolution because I mean 75 to 80 frames a second is more than anyone needs it's actually slightly higher than I played the game at I think mine was about 65 to 70 and I had no issues playing it whatsoever so clearly if you do want to play cyberpunk you are going to turn some of those settings down you're going to have to turn Ray tracing off really on this sort of card and you are going to have to be aware that you're going to need to run FSR to get the best results I mean this does look okay but I think the sweet spot is going to be FSR quality again I'm just not happy with the balance preset to be honest and despite the fact we're getting this weird artifacting here that's just the game that's not the GPU you can see that there's not a drastic difference to the frame rate about 65 to 75 frames a second so this is bang on pretty much how I played it decent experience not the absolute best obviously top end in video card cyberpunk go together better but I mean do you want to base your whole rig around cyberpunk I don't know you tell me well let's press on to the multiplayer titles that you've been waiting for starting with some Halo and what you're seeing here is running absolute Max settings at 4K Ultra it's not exactly the smoothest experience in the world with around about 40 to 60 frames a second it's not the way I think anyone really would choose to play play even if you have this sort of high resolution screen just doesn't really make sense but it's interesting to see just what this is capable of let's quickly go into the settings and layer it down a bit though let's try 1440p I'm expecting a much higher frame rate now and indeed you can immediately tell it's a whole lot smoother and yeah we're getting about 80 to 90 frames a second or so oh that's enough for that and I guess this is pretty typical on what you can sort of expect to get across the board really it is going to vary from game to game but Halo is one of those ones that sits in the middle because while it's not the heaviest title in the world to run you don't have any FSR or dlss technology or anything to play with so you do have to run it at its full native resolution which is a little bit of a shame I'm sure this will change at some point so let's see what happens if we actually turn the settings down a little bit from Ultra to medium is this going to make a drastic difference not massively there probably is a few extra frames a second there but it is so variable that it is often hard to tell but this is still a very nice experience it's just I would personally try and saturate my monitor so if I was I don't know if I had 165 Hertz for example I'd be trying to get as close to that as possible and to be fair this is a game that you can actually set a minimum frame rate and it will try its best to actually keep it at that so if we change that in a second to 120 uh miserable and then as you can see your frame rate will increase to over 120 frames a second and it does a very good job of this because it's essentially just using Dynamic resolution to achieve this but it's not actually that obvious I mean obviously the image quality isn't as good it's a fair bit softer but I don't know this doesn't look like 1080p so it's clearly doing a very good job of upscaling what you do have even though it's not using one of those Advanced methods and just for playing multiplayer I think this is going to be the way I would choose to play personally maybe set a custom one to 100 frames a second or something like that but here you've got pretty much the Best of Both Worlds you've got very good image quality and plenty of smoothness oh come on this gun's pants oh oh oh no no on a more pleasant note you want to listen to the Acoustics of this or shall I say the lack thereof it is very impressive that this is not making any noise basically whatsoever even whilst doing all of this pretty cool but let's move on to the game that you have no doubt been waiting for Call of Duty war zone 2. this is again running at 4K this is not the extreme preset you're gonna have to make do with ultra but this is running with FSL set to Quality so pretty demanding and at the moment we're getting around about 80 frames a second or so which is pretty impressive I think the AMD cards do do a very good job in Warzone and clearly this is a testament to that I would say this is probably a little bit beyond the scope of what I'd expect this card to be able to do oh we got ourselves a little firefight where is this guy there he is there he is have I got any grenades no oh he's gonna pop out there he's going to pop out there thank you very much I still got it but let's change this to settings that you know Dale actually want to see some 1440p and you can see that there is definitely a difference to the overall image quality it doesn't look as sharp and the lighting and stuff isn't quite as nice nice but it's not really going to make any difference to you what is is the frame rate because now we're getting about 125 130 frames a second so clearly if you want to sit down have a nice evening in and play all of the games to your heart's content this is going to be an excellent system to do it it I mean let's use this opportunity actually to see what happens if we turn FSR off if we're getting bottlenecking does that stop it yes it does and our frame rate has now reduced but not like to a crazy amount about 105 110 frames a second and to be fair there are plenty of people that always say that they want to see this without any sort of upscaling so there you go Fair bit less but nothing crazy and yes once again you have meant that my journey in this is over talking to the camera and playing a game it doesn't work at the same time but anyway this has been the price to Performance gaming PC 2023 what do you make of it my verdict is I love the way it looks I think if you like the look of this chassis then there's not really too many things to complain about very good theming I must say very very good theming throughout I think think this is one of the better looking systems I've done in a while despite the fact that it's not the most out there system in the world performance is very good as long as you're aware of the limitations it's not going to be the best for Ray tracing and it's not going to be the best for 4K gaming but as long as you're happy with 1440p high refresh rate turn some of the settings down this is going to be a winner but let me know your thoughts on this what do you like what do you
