my absolute favorite dessert is bread pudding and today I'm going to show you my recipe you have my cookbook a ton of garlic you already know that that recipe is in here on page 122 if you're ordering my books as Christmas gifts the last day to order to get in time for Christmas is December the 9th the first thing you're going to need is a loaf of French bread and we're going to cut this into little squares normally I cut it in half and then I cut these in half this way I dice them into little squares the bread's all cut up now we're going to put in the oven at 250 ° for an hour we're going to be putting a lot of moisture into this bread so we're putting in the oven to take all the moisture out of it so it'll absorb the stuff that we want it to okay now we're going to get all of our wet ingredients together which is going to be four eggs one 12 oz can of evaporated milk one 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk and I don't know about y'all if I'm going to risk my life and lick this lid 2 cups of heavy whipping cream 2 tpoon of vanilla extract a half a stick of melted butter 1 cup of white sugar 1/3 of a cup of brown sugar 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of nutmeg now we're going to mix this until it's well combined our bread is nice and dry now we're going to add it into our mixture go ahead and stir all this up and then you're going to let it sit for about an hour and you want to stir it about every 20 minutes I'll show you what it looks like now and then I'll show you what your goal is going to be at the end so this is what it looks like right now as you can see it's very soupy that's normal this is what it's looking like now as you can see it has absorbed a lot it is absolutely perfect I let this sit for about an hour and 15 minutes I greased this 9 by1 13in pan now we're going to transfer the mixture into this now this part's optional I just really like it this way I'm going to add about 6 oz of chopped pecans to the top now you're going to bake this at 350° fah covered for an hour and 10 minutes and I'll show you when we get back all right y'all here she is out of the oven now you're going to take one container of the pillsberry salted caramel and stick it in the microwave for about a minute until it melts make sure to take the cover off all right give it just a little stir but y'all be really careful with this this is like straight up molten lava okay and then I normally take a spoon and I kind of separate this from the side so that when I put the icing on it will get down on the sides as well all right now you're going to pour it over the top and down the sides and you don't have to do this whole container if you don't want to normally I do like 34 of the container all right we're going to let this sit for just a few minutes and I'll show you what it looks like after it has sat now I love bread pudding when it is cold that is my absolute favorite way to eat it all right y'all she is done but I am stuffed from dinner so we are not doing a taste test tonight you'll just have to take my word for it that it is delicious it's delicious
