(upbeat music) - Hey, everyone. It's Natasha of NatashasKitchen.com, and today I'm gonna teach you how to make an epic BLT sandwich. And wait till you try our secret sauce. It's just three ingredients, but it takes these
sandwiches over the top. And I'm hungry, so let's get started. (bell chimes) This recipe is really
easy to scale up or down, but to make four sandwiches, you'll need eight slices
of thick-cut bread about a half inch thick. Also, 12 slices, or 12
ounces of regular bacon, four to eight green lettuce leaves, depending on how much lettuce
you want to pack in there, two ripe avocados. Then two large tomatoes, and
they're in there somewhere. Ah, there they are. Stay tuned until the end, and I'll show you how we did that trick of packing all of that
stuff into that tiny bag, but I do want you to guess, so drop your guesses in the comments. We're gonna start with the bacon, since that takes the longest. Once you've conquered
your bacon packaging, preheat your oven to
400 degrees Fahrenheit and place the bacon on a
foil-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake that in the center of your oven for about 18 to 20 minutes or until the bacon is browned and crisp. Now I'm gonna show you how we make our secret BLT sandwich sauce. In a small bowl, combine
half a cup of real mayo, two tablespoons of sour cream, and two teaspoons of yellow mustard. Stir that up, and that's
all there is to it. It is so, so delicious. Set that aside until
you're ready to use it, and you can make that sauce ahead of time. Now the key to making
an amazing BLT sandwich is to butter and toast the bread. And putting it in the toaster or the oven and baking it will not
give you the same results. Trust me on this. You'll want to put that
bread either on a skillet or on a griddle or even
on a barbecue grill. Toast that bread over
medium to medium-high heat, just until both sides are golden brown. I love toasting the bread
on a skillet like this because it makes them crisp on the outside and still soft and tender inside. This step is really quick and easy to do, so do not skip it. It will transform your BLT sandwich. Once the bacon is ready,
and that looks perfect, we're gonna take it out of the oven and transfer that to a
paper-towel-lined plate to soak up any extra bacon grease. If you prefer a thick-cut bacon, you'll want to put them on a rack and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 to 35 minutes,
so they do take longer. Next, cut your tomato into thick slices. And it is so satisfying
to bite into a thick slice of tomato in a BLT sandwich. And just some quick prep on the lettuce. I like to cut off that thick stem portion, just so the lettuce sits
better on the sandwich. And we love sneaking
avocado into our BLTs, so it becomes a bacon, avocado,
lettuce and tomato sandwich. It is so good. The texture and flavor is amazing. You'll need either two
small or one large avocados to make four sandwiches. Pit, peel, and slice
those into thick strips. And once you add some creamy avocado, you won't want your BLT
sandwich any other way. (upbeat music) All right, everything is
prepped and ready to go, and it's time to make that BLT sandwich. All right, we're gonna
start with our toast... That's what happens. That's why I have to build
these sandwiches now. (laughs) Or my ingredients are
gonna disappear fast. We start with putting our
toasted bread on the bottom. Oh, and look at that bread. Buttering it and then sauteing it, either on a flat top or a skillet or even putting it on the grill is so good and so much better than a toaster. I mean, if you're pressed
for time, whatever, but... Do it this way. Try it. You won't regret it. Okay, on that toasted bread, we're gonna put a generous
amount of that secret sauce, and it will just... I'm serious, it'll take this sandwich over the top. It is so good, so good. And this is something
that we came up with. After trying something
like this in a restaurant, we fell in love with it, and
then we recreated it at home. Once we have the sauce on, then it's time for the lettuce. And I like a green, leafy lettuce because it's really pretty. And then our tomatoes. And with tomatoes, I love
a lot of tomatoes in a BLT, and thick-sliced, because you get a really good
sense of the tomato in there when they're thick like this. Yum yum. So two or three slices. Let's hit this up with three. It's gonna be a big sandwich. After the tomato, we've got bacon. And then since we have 12 slices of bacon, we're doing three slices per sandwich. You can always make more
if you love more bacon. All right. And I love them sticking
out the sides a little bit like this, because who could
resist a bacon sandwich? Now, avocado. Avocado is not standard in a BLT, but it just makes this
sandwich so much better. That creamy texture is so nice with the crisp tomatoes
and lettuce and bacon. It just... ah, it just adds
another layer of flavor. This is such a satisfying sandwich. I could eat this every day for lunch and never get tired of it, 'cause everything about it is good. And once the avocado's on, add a sprinkle of salt and pepper, 'cause avocado can be a
little plain by itself. Freshly ground black pepper. And the top toast. So we're gonna add more of the dressing. Lots more. Love a saucy sandwich. Especially a BLT. I'm excited. I'm so excited 'cause I get to eat this. Lunch is gonna be good today. Okay, here we go. Just... boop. (laughs) Okay. I might eat this now. This is a big sandwich. So I think we probably
need to cut it in half, so that I can even hold it in my hands. Look at this. This is just the most epic BLT sandwich. All right, we gotta
cut into this sandwich, because it's kind of too big to eat. That happens a lot on our show. Ridiculous sizes. Okay, so let's cut this. Okay. Here we go. Look at this. It's ridiculous, right? It's a ridiculously good sandwich. Okay. I'm gonna do this. I'm going to do this. So saucy, wow. Mm. Let's see. How can I get the most of
everything in one bite? Ooh. (laughs) Mm. Hmm hmm. Mm. Wow. This is incredible. I love the combination
of flavors and textures. The sauce brings it all together,
and it amps up every bite. Wow. The crisp, salty bacon,
juicy tomato, creamy avocado, crisp lettuce: everything
about the BLT sandwich is good. And I'm gonna call in, for the taste test. The man who inspired this
sandwich to begin with. Come on in. 'Cause I think he's been very... waiting very impatiently
for a bite, right? - Yes. - Okay, let's get this
on your plate somehow. Okay, here we go. All right, come on in here. Get in here, bro. Let's sample this together. You ready?
- Yep. - Get a good grip on it. It's pretty awesome. If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face. All right, okay, let's do this. Ready? Steady, go. Mm. (laughs) You got a little something right there. - I'm speechless. - Yeah? What do you think of that sauce? - Perfect. - Mama makes it good, huh? You heard it from the man. Speechless. It's that good. Make sure you make this today. It's super easy, so delicious,
and the best lunch ever. Look at this. He's going for more sauce. What are you going to do with that sauce? Oh ho ho ho, that's smart. I like how you think. I told you it was good. Anyway, we'll see you in our next video. (beeps) (beeps) I'm gonna be right here, and the bag's gonna be right here. I'm gonna reach down here to get it. (beeps) I'll just go. All right? - [Man] Yeah. - Okay, you hush up down there. Ready? (beeps)
