Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
This is a really excellent and objective presentation and very respectful. I really like the style and presentation and how you pull this together and present it efficiently and fairly. Thank you.
You might note that the Bab actually revealed at least one significant text prior to revealing the Qayyum'ul-Asma. Prof. Todd Lawson, U. Toronto, discusses this in one of his academic texts. However, the Qayyum'al-Asma was the first major work, revealed in 40 days and being longer than the Qur'an and actually a commentary on the Qur'an itself even if styled or subtitled as a commentary on the Surah of Joseph. The rhythmic and poetic style of Arabic prose makes this a very difficult read but, as Prof. Abbas Amanat notes, it was clear that the book was a Revelation from God and some early clerics (at a tribunal in Baghdad in 1844) saw it as such and, therefore, heresy.
For those interested, a very long (696 pages in English) and detailed Baha'i account of the events surrounding the Babi and Baha'i religion from Shaykh Ahmad to the Bab's Declaration, the Bab's execution, and Baha'u'llah's imprisonment in the Siyah Chal can be found in a book online called the Dawnbreakers written by Nabil. It has been translated and heavily footnoted and annotated with other references by Shoghi Effendi and with a discussion of the background of Iran at that time. See https://reference.bahai.org/en/t/nz/DB/
An alternative text by Prof. Abbas Amanat, Yale University, Resurrection and Renewal: The Making of the Babi Movement in Iran, 1844-1850, edited and reprinted around 2005, is a more objective presentation from the perspective of a historian. It may be out of print, since I noted some high prices quoted for the text on some sites. It is less complete and chronological in nature, but still a fair presentation from a non-believer perspective. The original dissertation text published in 1989 can be found as well at: https://www.academia.edu/34993431/Resurrection_and_Renewal_The_Making_of_the_Babi_Movement_in_Iran_1844-1850 .
Professor Nader Saiedi wrote Gate of the Heart, 2008, as a commentary and outline of the Bab's major Writings and teachings. It contains some provisional translations and I found it quite helpful in understanding what the Bab taught and the connection to and His anticipations of Baha'u'llah.
I really enjoyed an appreciated this. Well done. Your sincerity and content-rich material came through with clarity and polished production values. Looking forward not only to the second part but also reviewing your other videos. Thank you.
Hi Dahlenbror,
This is excellent. Students of comparative religion have a very different insight and I can also see some Sufism trends in your presentation here too. These give it a very pleasing and rounded perspective. So I hope you might touch on the time Bahรก'u'llรกh spent in the mountains with the Sufis before He made His formal declaration in another video when you have the time. I think you would probably do this great justice because it really requires a person to have a good Sufi grasp to appreciate and understand. You appear an intelligent person. I am sure you will find the material in good time.
As r/bahai only tends to have a small following might I encourage you to approach Baha'i Blog https://www.bahaiblog.net and offer your video and an article about yourself for possible publication. This way, should they choose to publish it, your video will reach a much larger Bahรก'รญ audience. I tend to think it deserves this so please consider it.
Here is wishing you well with your channel and Masters.

Great job!
