good evening everybody welcome to our service tonight we trust that you will be blessed by this singing of the anchored quartet which had live streamed this program on Good Friday so we just hope you there's people that joined in it's a little bit different for us tonight but we're excited about being here in doing this and the potential that that God can use the songs that we sing tonight to reach many people so we invite you to worship with us we are here to worship we want to have fun this evening as well but ultimately our goal is to worship Christ and we invite you to do that and actually tonight we invite you to sing with us as loud as you want to and you won't even throw us off key the next song that we're gonna sing is how deep the Father's love for us and you know this is Easter weekend and good Friday evening and there is there is not more of a display of love than what our Father has done for us and you know life is really upside down right now for us for a lot of people and we have a lot of questions we don't know why this is happening this is the weekend that I think Easter Sunday is when there's more people in church than any other Sunday of the year and it just seems a shame that that can't happen but we're thankful for technology that we can that we can still do what we do and and be able to minister in this way but just just trust it tonight you can feel the depth of Christ's love this evening and as especially as we go through this Easter weekend how deep the Father's love for us how vast beyond all measure that he should give his only son to make a wretch his treasure how great the pain of searing loss the father turns his face away as wounds which Mar the chosen one bring many sons to glory behold the man upon a cross my sin upon his shoulders ashamed I hear my mocking voice call among the scoffers it was my sin that held him there until it was accomplished his dying breath has brought me love I know that it is me [Music] I will not post in anything no gifts no power no wisdom but I will boast in Jesus Christ his death and resurrection action why should I gain from his reward I cannot give but this I know with all my heart big-time social distancing and all of God's children are going to really be at a distance from everybody here on this earth and I'm so thankful that we have that to look forward to the the the reward of heaven being able to to go to heaven and live with our Savior the next song we're going to sing is titled the joy of heaven and there will be no social distancing in heaven there will be yeah no going through right now you know we we talk about we talk a lot about toilet paper these days in the shortage of it but there's a there's a story a true story that a friend of mine told me they were flying home from I believe that was Florida and all of a sudden the airplane hit an air pocket or a lack of an air pocket whatever you call it and the plane dropped about a hundred feet and it really scared everybody everybody just kind of took a deep breath and finally the plane caught air and it started flying again and everybody's side a sigh relief and everything was quiet and they heard a squeaky door opened in the back of the plane and they looked back and there a man came out into the aisle holding the toilet seat when that plane dropped down he just grabbed whatever he could get a hold of and and and if the picture of that of a guy doing that's like what would be the most more nasty thing that you would want to hold than a toilet seat do this song says Jesus signed my pardon and I like to think of that toilet seat as sin that is in our lives and I know it's been the case for me so many times that there's something that I know is not from God but for some reason I just want to hold on to I don't want to let it go and to god that is maybe the picture he has and maybe he's maybe he's wondering why is he standing there ordinate eyelet C I signed your pardon you can be free so that song and that story challenges me and I want to challenge you all with that tonight if there's something that is in your life what a better time in Easter weekend is to just reach out and let that go and let God heal you but God redeem you from whatever that is that that you are holding that is really nasty as a toilet seat so as we sing this song if there is something that's in your life allow God to convict you and and take care of that because we're singing a song here in a little bit that says Jesus is coming soon and he really is he's coming back again and we really need to my heart is free I am very thankful to be able to do what we're doing here tonight one thing that's been a little tough to get used to is the thought of a good bit of our audience tonight sitting in their PJs eating popcorn oh how are singing but that's all cool keeps us relaxed and you guys know who you are but the next song we're gonna sing talks about a house which probably most of you are in your house first of all my name is Steve beachy and I sing the lead part so that's my introduction but the song we're gonna sing is talks about a house and the places that we keep our junk everybody's got one that well maybe not everybody but most people have one of those closets they kind of stuff everything into and companies coming or something they don't want people to see and this song talks about that place in our heart where we put those nasty things we don't want people to know about it talks about you know taking Jesus to that place and opening up our heart and allowing him to come in and clean that that dark nasty room up and I'm so thankful tonight that I have Jesus in my life because it takes away the chaos in my heart in my mind through these times we're in and I hope and pray that if there's anyone that is listening us to us tonight that through the songs we sing that the message would impact you and if you don't know Jesus you would come to know him tonight that's my prayer my heart is like a house one day I let the Savior in there are many rooms that we would visit now and then but one day I saw that door I knew that day had come too soon I said Jesus I'm not ready for us to visit in cuz that's a place in my heart where even I don't go I have some things in there I don't want no one to know oh but he handed me the keys with tears and love on his face he said I want to make you free let me go in your secret place and then I opened up the door and as the two of us walked in I was so ashamed his life revealed my hidden sea in for the well I think about that room now I'm not afraid anymore cuz I know my ain't seen no longer hides behind the door there was a place in my heart we're even I would go I had some things in there I didn't want no one to know oh but he handed me the keys with tears of love on his face he made me clean I let him in my secret place is there a place in your heart where even you don't go you have some things in there you with Jesus makes it right sometimes my path grows tree without a ray of cheer and then cloud about me hide the light of day the miss of sin may rise and hide the starry skies but just a little talk again it seems like a long time since I've been here but even with being here there's things that I miss I missed my church family I miss my friends I miss talking to the ministry after the service is over I miss the chatter of the little children at the end of the service we hear they're excited voices as they look for eivin's I said each child knowing that he has a pack of Smarties in his pocket for him and the excitement that goes with that I miss Lydia Martin and maybe those of you that don't know Lydia Martin she's an older sister here that God has given a talent of encouragement and a lot of times when we should be encouraging her she's encouraging us and generally when I speak if I don't know if what I'm saying is making sense or if it just needs some encouragement I look towards her and she's staring at me she's just always nodding she's a I'm gonna miss her tonight because I won't see her nodding face as I go through this devotional I want to talk about a few things tonight I'm gonna jump around a little bit but I want to talk about change and some changes positive and some changes negative and positive change could be a marriage or a positive change could be just the way we're live streaming tonight and under these circumstances positive changes when someone gives their heart to the Lord change can be fast our change can be slow for all you moms out there that have a handful of small children and the laundry and the dishes and the runny noses and the diapers it just seems like it goes on and on and it seems like there's not a change in your life it's just the same thing over and over or for maybe somebody like me for the last 25 years it took me to realize that I'm not young anymore but change can be fast change can be like a fire when there's a destruction change can be like a death when there's a heart attack or a sudden accident and we all know change will come if we were believers but in my mind always thought when change would come to the church it would be something that would be slow and over time but it amazes me that and if you were to talk to me in the beginning of March and told me that in a matter of two weeks almost every church across America would close but I said I find that hard to believe but I'm looking forward to when the churches open again and I trust that they will once were past this maybe not as soon as we would wanted to but it just makes me realize that things can change quickly but we need to put our trust in God we see a lot of effort from our country's leaders today to save lives especially the lives of our older people and this is good I have a mother I have a mother-in-law that would be considered older people and it's our responsibility to take care of them proverbs 23 22 says hearkened unto thy father that begat thee and despised not thy mother when she is old ii kings 223 says and this is in the setting when Elijah was taken into heaven and Elijah was taken over his role as a prophet and in verse 23 it says and he went up from men unto Bethel and as he was going up by the way there came forth little children out of the city and mocked him and said unto him go up the bald head go up the bald head now we know that as this story goes on Elijah cursed the children and the two she bears came out of the woods and mauled the children and I don't know why this all took place but I do soon see two things here one is the children were mocking God's prophet and two is the Elijah was bald I don't know if he shaved or if he was an old man that was he was bought at the time but they were not respecting him as an elder and we do have a responsibility around to respect our older people but I can't help but to think if we could use the same urgency the urgency that we see in our country today with businesses shutting down with people losing jobs our economy taking a hit lawmakers continuing to change things daily to save the lives of people if somehow we could funnel that energy into the lives of the unborn we still have thousands of unborn children's lives that are being destroyed an abortion children didn't even get to live the 52 years that I lived and it would just be great if somehow we could use that same urgency to save the unborn I don't think any of us would want or any of us think that negative change comes at a good time I have a 16 year old daughter who was gonna get her driver's license on a Wednesday and Tuesday they shut down all the PennDOT driver's license centers and you might say well that's just a little thing and it is a little thing but a 16 year old it's kind of a big thing but each person has their own situation in their own story how negative change affects them in a at a bad time and I had to think of myself why does this change and this virus bother me do I think I'm gonna die from it no I don't think I'm not afraid of dying from this virus so then why does it bother me and I guess I was thinking when times are good it's easy to say that everything that I have is the Lord's I can say my truck is the Lord's my house is the Lord's my business is the Lord's my recreational time is the Lord's everything that I have it's the Lord's but if it's the Lord's anyhow what happens if he wants to take it back Timothy first Timothy 6:6 through eight days but godliness with contentment is great gain for we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we can carry nothing out and having food and Ren me arraignment let us therefore be content so if I can testify the I'm content with food and rank Raymond can I also say that like job said the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away blessed is the name of the Lord I guess I also had to think of in mark 12 41 to 44 mark 12 started in verse 41 and Jesus sat over against the Treasury and beheld how the people cast money into the Treasury and many that were rich casted much and there came a certain poor Widow and she threw in two mites which make a farthing and he called unto him his disciples and saith unto them verily I say unto you that this poor Widow has cast more in than all they which have cast into the Treasury for all they did cast in of their abundance but she of her one cast and all that she had even all her living and when I look at this teaching of Jesus here and I think of my life I began to realize that I was much more like the rich men oh yeah I give money when I have a chance I gave money when I still had a mortgage to pay I gave money when I had bills to pay but every time I give money I always made sure there was enough money there to take care of what I need to take care of never once did I see a need where I gave money knowing that I have a bill in two days and trusted in faith that the Lord will provide for me so I guess it's a challenge to me is what if the Lord wants my living and I realized that the fear of this whole virus probably comes back to my selfishness is what I have really the Lord's I want this devotion would be a positive and not negative so I want to look at John 1 19 through 30 john 1 starting at verse 19 and this is the record of John when the Jews sent priests and the Levites from Jerusalem to ask him who art thou and he confessed and denied not but confessed I am NOT the Christ and they asked him what then art thou Elias and he saith I am NOT art thou that prophet he answered no then said they unto Him who art thou that we may give an answer to them that send us what saith thou of thyself he said I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness make straight the way of the Lord as said the Prophet Esaias and they which were sent were the Pharisees and they asked him and said unto him why baptize this thou then if thou be not that Christ nor Elias neither that prophet John answered them saying i baptize with water but their standeth one among you whom you know not he it is who coming after me is preferred before me whose shoe latch it I am not worthy to unloose these things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan where John was baptizing the next day John seeth Jesus coming unto Him and saith behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world this is he of whom I said after me cometh the man which is preferred before me for he was before me now we see here John was called the forerunner of Christ and he was preparing the way for the coming of Jesus and he knew that change was coming and he knew that somebody greater than himself was coming and he said that I'm not even worthy to tie the latches on his shoe but he was okay with leaving the scene and letting Jesus take over and we also know that it talks later where John when he was cast into prison he sent some of his disciples over to Jesus and asked him are you the one are you the Messiah are you the one we should be looking for and we might question John why he sent his disciples to Jesus to see if he's the one when he proclaimed he was the one earlier but nevertheless I think of myself and ourselves in these times when we get into troubling times we get into times that we don't know what the answers are we get into times that were uncertain what we should be doing isn't that a time when we go back to the Bible we go back to the word we go back to Jesus's teaching and look and study and determine what we really believe who Jesus really is and what his promises really are I would like to call us after runners of Christ and I don't even know if that's a word but we are after his death and we are in the last times so are we trying to live like him are we being an example of him or are we showing the world who Christ is what he has done for us what he can do for others people may be more open to his teaching now than they were before are we excited to share are we using as an opportunity are we showing by our lives that we trust in the Lord are we giving people around us hope can our encouragement affect others last week I was sending out some text messages one day when I wasn't working and I was sending some messages out to some older people and this one gentleman of course just how you doing he texts me back he's doing fine how are you but then the next day he sent me a text message and he said hey I got to thinking about this and I'd like to help this cause but he said I don't know where to donate to is there some organization your church is involved with it is helping to fight this coronavirus so I got him the information of the the packing for the health workers in New York City that we do up here at Peavy a couple times a week and I gave him the web address and the next day text me he said he looked up the wedding web address and it was really happy the way they were what they were doing and where the money was going and that he made a donation and that's just a little thing but I just want to encourage us as we go through her days just reach out to people show them that we care show them that we have love for them and by doing that we can cause them to make good choices and also see that there is hope life is always changing good or bad fast or slow but when we believe the Bible we know change will come the biggest change that will ever come is the returning of Lord Jesus Christ the heavens will open and Jesus will come for his church his bride the Dead will rise first the living will meet him in the air praise the Lord are we and after honor of Christ showing teaching leading people to that glorious day that's pray father we thank you for this day we thank you for the opportunities that you give us we just pray that your spirit would lead us as we go through these days as we go through these times and we can put our trust in you and we can take to heart that what we have is yours and then we can take what is yours and use it in a way that you want us to use we just pray a special blessing on everybody that's listening tonight we just prayed it could be encouraged and they could find comfort in their own hearts and peace at a time like have to try to do this each from our own homes I don't know I think you have to really know what you're doing to make that work the next song we're going to sing is called love will bring us all together and I'm thankful I'm thankful for God's love thankful for the love that that we can share here as humans on the earth but even more the love of God that he would be willing to send his son down down to this earth and to die on the cross for my sins and he did that with no guarantee that I would accept that no guarantee that I would accept that that gift he gave all and there was no guarantee that I would accept it and I'm just amazed at how much God loves us and and would be willing to to step out like that to give everything to give his the you know his son giving his own life just amazed by that and so thankful for that love will bring us all together all things work together for good when God's love is understood God is good and everything he does is right springtime flowers wilt and fade but the memories that they made or a ray of sunshine in the darkest night there's a love is calling son as we stand God our God loves us all loving call love will bring us all
