everyone welcome everyone here this is our fourth night of revivals and it is good to be here I've been blessed every night this week um just thinking about the songs we sang the first song was a challenge to go deeper deeper in the love of Jesus so I trust tonight you're here to be blessed and you're here to go deeper you're here to learn more about Jesus second Psalm we sang speaks of uh Jesus leading Us by the hand we'll share some scripture verses and a few thoughts after which I will have a short prayer we will then lift an offering this evening this offering is for the expenses of this week so we will be passing the baskets around so if you could turn in your Bibles to the Gospel of John chapter 12 uh this these are some verses I read earlier in the week for our in our in our home usually before the show go to bed we have a short time of devotions and sometimes we'll do like daily bread but here late we've been just getting the Bible opening it opening it and just reading a bunch of verses talking about it and uh thinking about what it says so this was exactly the verses we had read earlier in the week and I've been thinking about this and I thought well tonight I will share this here with you John 12: 44 the Bible reads Jesus cried and said he that believeth on me believeth not on me but on him that sent me and he that seeth me seeth him that sent me I am come a light into the world that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness and if any man hear my words and believe not I judge him not for I came not to judge the world but to save the world he that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words hath one that judgeth him the word that I have spoken the same shall judge him on the last day for I have not spoken of myself but the Father which sent me he gave me commandment what I should say and what I should speak and I know that his commandment is life Everlasting whatsoever I speak therefore even as the father saith unto saith unto me so I speak so Jesus is making it abundantly clear that he has been sent from the father he is the Son of God he is God made flesh and we see this at the beginning of John the first chapter verse 14 it says and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory and the glory as of the only begotten of the father full of grace and truth the gospels uh bear witness of what the people seen they seen him they witnessed him and they heard his words Jesus did not come to judge the world he came to deliver a message from from the Father the father loved all people and desired that all of them would be saved through his son John 3:17 one verse after John 3:16 the verse we all know it says for God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved he had a desire to save the whole world and salvation comes to all those who believe it's not of any specific race or ethnicity or any status it's for all people anywhere verse 48 says he that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words hath one that judges him the word that I have spoken the same shall judge him on that last day so um the father desires that all people would believe on Jesus Christ and there is Grace abounding today for you and I he desires that we would all come to the Cross there is a day coming where all people will be judged and they will be judged by the word of God Jesus is the truth in which we will be all judged against and you know we take this for granted but we are blessed to have the scriptures with us today we're blessed to have the gospel truth with us today Jesus came to speak the words given to him by the father Jesus Is The Word of Life I will read first John you can turn there 1 John chapter 1 just just three verses I'd like to read yet first John 1 verses 1-3 this is bearing testimony of what people have seen what what they have heard that which was from the beginning which we have heard which we have seen with our with our eyes which we have looked upon and our hands have handled the word of life for the life was manifested and we have seen it bear witness and show it unto you that eternal life which was with the father and was manifested to us that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you that ye Also may have fellow ship with us and truly our fellowship is with the father and with his son Jesus Christ so tonight do you have fellowship with Jesus Christ and if you do you have fellowship with the father if we believe the gospel truth and put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ we will be saved to life Everlasting whosoever believeth anyone who believeth will be saved let's pray Almighty father we thank you for this evening for this opportunity to be here Lord I pray that that you could be with Doug Lord I pray your spirit could rest upon him and just Empower him pray that uh we could all um receive truth tonight and Lord I just pray that your spirit could work here tonight work in a mighty way convicting people of sin encouraging people drawing people to the word of life oh Lord we thank you for the gospel that we have here today the gospel that we can believe in and that we can be saved to life Everlasting we pray this in jesus' name amen so this time we will lift an offering so Vince will lead us in a verse of song Turn The Z's praises to song number 396 what a friend we have in Jesus house again with God's people I feel like a complete person here tonight I have my wife lovely wife be with me so it's good to have her with me here that with us here this weekend thank you for praying for me Wednesday night as I traveled home it went rather quickly I was able to stay awake because I'm here that we all know that the songs blessed my heart as I traveled home and thank you Vince for sharing that playlist with me okay if you're here for the first night the children know that we've been doing a bob section which are birds of the Bible so children the question for tonight it says this bird is going to make a nest and lay and hatch what is the bird how many of y'all found it okay right there what is that bird that is the ow and that is found in uh Isaiah 34:15 I'll read that to you there shall the great owl make her nest and lay and hatch and gather her un gather under her Shadow there shall the vultures also be gathered everyone with her mate so I thank you children for participating in that that'll uh conclude our Bob section but if you think of the name Bob from now on maybe you'll think about birds of the Bible to get started tonight why don't we all stand and to you tonight sometimes I get you to participate with it it comes from Psalm 28 verse 7 it says the Lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusteth in him and I am help therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth and with song I will praise him I have one statement or a six-word verse verse for y all and then I could sit down my message is done and completed here's the verse John 1:16 do not Heir my beloved Brethren y'all ready go home James 1:16 do not he my beloved Brethren Heir is to roam to wonderer to go astray and tonight friends we're going to look at let me back up just a second I left I was staying at be's parents place we're going to be heading back there again tonight to stay Monday night Tuesday night I stayed there Wednesday night I traveled home but Wednesday afternoon as I came here or Wednesday evening early Wednesday evening I said I said to myself you know what I can leave all my things at Bev's parents place because I'm going to go back there so I left all my notes and I had everything that I thought you know kind of had a schedule for this week and as I was traveling home Friday night or Friday night Wednesday night got to get my day straight here with taking a night off as I was traveling home Wednesday night I realized that the message I was going to preach tonight was laying there in her parents house and we didn't go there tonight we went to Roger and Roose for supper on the way up so I'm saying God what are you telling me you're telling me I'm an old man and forgetful or you telling me you want me to go a different direction okay you know God works in those ways and so the other thing I was going to say too as I was thinking about as I was sitting here there's one challenge about revivals you know what that is there's a lot of things I'd like to say yet and I can't preach every message I'd like to preach okay I only have what is it seven messages or six or whatever it is I believe it's seven but I prayed to God for a message this morning and there's one that I would say became very very clear to me and as I st sat and studied for quite a while today and also today my day's activity I got to visit the older fellow that comes to our church and the man Rodney Medford I was telling you about I went and visited both them spent a little time with them here before lunch encouraging them in the Lord Rodney is very sick I would say he's in his little trailer right next to our church there not sure what is going on yet in his life so that was an enjoyable day being able to spend some time with others but the title of my message tonight is dealing with sin in its infancy and as I think about Sin here tonight friends sin is very dark it's very evil it's all around us it's also um it hurts okay sin hurts a lot of people but as I think about the title tonight of dealing with sin and its infancy you know we all live in a sinful world we live with the sin the human nature and there's times that we're going to sin but what do you do with sin in your own life if you sin okay and the reason I called the title dealing with sin in in its infancy is because infancy means the early stage of the development or growth of something and we're going to look at some of that but here's my challenge for you all 1 Peter 5'8 I have it written down be sober be vigilant because the adversary the devil as a roaring lion when I think about a roaring lion I think of strength I think about fierceness walketh or prows about seeking whom he may devour then verse n says whom instead resist steadfast into faith knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world we just sang that song we got the power do you believe that here tonight yes we do you know it sads my heart sometimes do you hear about people that werein the Christian church in the trail of sin in their life but you know friends here tonight Le I was talking with Nate before a little bit Satan doesn't care how he gets you or how he gets me as long as he can cause us to trip and fall and to send had a little illustration happened at work I wasn't at work yesterday or today but yesterday afternoon my son sent me a little message he said we had something happen at our store and I told you we don't live in a very righteous neighborhood where our where our hardware store is we have a lot of challenges there with people stealing I would say we probably have at least one or two thefts a week that people are stealing things and the most amazing thing is they always leave the package behind and uh so when I find the package we can go back on the cameras and see who stole it and it's a witnessing opportunity I take it as a witnessing opportunity when those individuals come back in a lot of times we we will approach them I uh talk to them about the Lord and speak to them about their soul and so it is a challenge we just said something my son said we had something to happened on Thursday afternoon never had happened before and we have a parts counter and at that parts counter we have an old cashier drawer yet kind of that you have to push a button it doesn't um open automatically when you do the transaction and uh last night he said there was a 12 to 14 year old boy right towards the end of the day when we only have two people in our store it's not a huge store maybe 10,000 square feet there would be one of the cashiers up front and usually one of us men uh help close the store so there's two people there probably the last hour of the day that's basically what we need but last night probably about 15 or 20 minutes before the store closed was a 12 or 13y old boy snuck behind the counter pushed that button on that cash register drawer and emptied it okay and so we checked the cameras my son checked the cameras and uh it was a Brazen move of of stealing of robbery anyhow we uh my son said he wasn't sure what he's going to do but he felt like he was going to call the police because if they knew who the young guy was they would really like we'd really like to talk to that young boy and help him understand where his life is going to lead him if he continues to sin like that the other one I had was quite a few quite a while ago I'm here in a little story mode but anyhow we had a young girl about 12 years old I would say even less than that 10 years old where she stole some chapstick off of a counter and she stole a couple other things but we watch that on on camera we have cameras in every aisle see it plain as day I don't know if people don't see the cameras don't care but that young girl knew how to steal things the way she snuck that chapstick off the counter roll it under the counter and roll it right up her sleeve she did many times but anyhow today let's get back to the story of the young man the young boy my son would have liked to talk to the young boy and that's why he turned it into the police okay and so the police came today and they uh he looked at the video he looked at the young boy he said it's going to be a little hard maybe to figure out who it is so he said but I'll call it in check it out he soon came back into the story he said we know who it is but what really hurt my heart for the young boy was the police said we've had a lot of of uh occurrences with his mother his mother is telling that young boy to steal the money shocking you imagine you know my heart aches for that young boy 12 13 years old his mother she probably has a drug habit she's asking him to steal and yes she did return the money okay we would never press charges we take it as an opportunity to to uh witness to the people the police told her you return the money or I'm locking you up okay but we did it because we'd have like to talk to the young man a little realize that the mother was the one behind it sad World friends we say it's out there but there's times there's people in our churches that have sin in their lives I don't care what sin it is let's get here let me just think about being sober being vigilant the devil the as the adversary is a roaring line but you know friends here tonight the devil's not only a roaring lion heo he comes as an angel of Light that's where we need to be really on our guard because Satan wants to mix 1% out of 99% it could be 99% truth and he wants to add just a little percent of falsehood into it and we all know that there's an enemy of our soul trying to dis desperately with all his cunning Powers he can possess to keep us apart from God or Allure us away from God that's the devil's main object here tonight friends maybe you've never been a Christian and God has been speaking to your heart and to your life the devil as the holy spirit is speaking to you the devil is also there trying to keep you away from God and trying to keep you from responding to God or maybe you're a Christian the devil's trying to lure us away from God you know I've often said that Satan doesn't really want you follow me through in this Satan doesn't really want you but he wants to keep you away from God you know Satan's beef is really with God because he was cast out of Heaven he wanted to be like God so anything that pertains to God Satan is against okay because once Satan has you I don't you know he just he'll probably try and continue to destroy you but he don't really want you he just wants to keep you from God straighten me out afterward if you don't aren't with me on that but I really believe that that's Satan's objective he opposes anything that's right and godly and you know friends because we live in an imperfect World in a world of sin there's times these vessels of clay will sin let's turn to your Bibles to James chapter 1 I have four verses for you here my first point is what is sin James chapter 1 verse 13- 16 James 1:13 says let no man say when he is tempted I am tempted of God for God cannot be tempted with evil neither tempted the any man but every man is tempted when he's drawn away of his own lust and enticed then when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death and here's my six words I said I I could uh say to you and be a complete message and I could go home do not he my beloved Brethren do not he my dear friends do not depart from God do not sin do not roam do not go astray question I have and this is a a term I thought about excuse me when I studied for this message how many of you know what LSD stands for okay there's a few of you LSD was a if you look it up back in the 60s it was a drug okay and uh we heard a lot about it you don't hear much about it today but it you can look it up I looked it up LSD was a drug and there's people that depends how much of it they took it was uh they would hallucinate and it was a good feeling um and so when I thought about this message I thought about LSD okay but I'm going to apply it in your memories if you knew what LSD was years ago or knew about LSD I want to put a new LSD memory bank into you and that is I'm going to spiritualize it okay the three verses we read or the four verses we read have LSD in it the first one is lust when lust here it says hath conceived it bringeth forth sin there's your L ands and when it is finished it bringeth forth death okay so when I think about a spiritual LSD it's lust equals sin and sin equals Death now let's look at the first point was what is sin let's look at what lust is here in verse 13 and 14 it talks about uh God never tempts anyone you know when we are tempted God allows the Temptation and we see that in 1 Corinthians 10:13 it says there hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but will with the Temptation also wa make a way of Escape that you may be able to Bear it friends here tonight that verse is such a comfort to me because God knows every Temptation you go through okay he knows each Temptation we face now God does not tempt us it's not possible for God to tempt us because God is holy God is righteous but he knows our Temptations He knows when the devil is tempting us but friends here tonight we've got the power we've got the power to be victorious over every Temptation and you know Temptation sometimes looks like a bad word we think of it sometimes as a bad word but temptation is not a bad word temptation is the opportunity to do what's right okay it really is through Temptation we can do what's right and friends here tonight when we are tempted and we are victorious it gives us strength to overcome the devil in the works of darkness but we need to be sober we need to be vigilant we need to be awake we need to guard our heart because the devil wants to deceive us let's look at lust again lust what is lust here in this verse it says but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed lust is an intense longing or desire an appetite that craves Indulgence friends tonight that is one of the Satan's tools is lust he makes sin look so fun and exciting he makes it look like everybody's enjoying it everybody's doing it and sin can be fun for just a little bit okay when you're in the moment of that sin sometimes you could gratify self and there's some pleasure in it possibly but when it's over you're left with the empty guilty feeling of what you did so lust is an intense longing and desire and I want to point out one word there in verse 14 it says but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust okay his own lust that word friends own friends here today means me okay you can't blame your sin or your actions or your decisions on somebody else I've always told my sons you know ministers CH are human Okay they've all made mistakes I think sometimes my son's made more mistakes than other people maybe not but I always said as a father I couldn't be so strict and put my children in such a strict mold that they couldn't make their own decisions okay but parents here tonight if you have Youth and they have failed here's what I want encourage you in when they fail you need to be there as a spiritual father to help them pick up the pieces and to find healing for their hearts there's a few times that our sons did I didn't have any problems with my girls okay my girls were perfect little angels didn't have any had five sons and I don't know if am you want to see a picture of her family I don't know if Bev has a picture along or not um be that as it it may but there's times as a church leader that I would have lik to see my sons do some things differently okay you know maybe there's some things they did that embarrassed me because of the magnitude of the sin you know they're a human right like anybody else and I had to be very very careful because I believe fathers in Ministry that it in our resp response to how and what they did makes all the wor difference in the world I can either push them away by becoming bringing an iron fist upon them and yes the sin needs to be addressed but it needs to be done out of loving caring attitude and heart thinking back back to owning you know you can't blame it on your friends or Satan because they didn't make you do it okay if you are tempted and you fail which we will because we live in the flesh yet it's a choice you made let's look at sin verse 15a says when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin so lust friends is the desire lust is the fing about it and friends when you think about something long enough you will eventually live it out I have a good friend that there were some things found out about him recently and I spent a little time with that friend and one of the things I wanted to do was encourage him in the Lord but as he looked back on his life I asked him how did you get from today where you are how did that happen it started at a young age because of lust a very very young age he had a lustful heart he got involved in pornography and it took him down a long dark Cold Trail in his life what is sin it's an immoral act that is a transgression against the Divine Law of God God the Bible has many different sins that it lists that we should not be involved in it's any action that goes against or Disobedience to the word of God okay so it could be an moral act it could be actions against or Disobedience to the word of God could be sin it could be wrong actions it could be words spoken it could be harbored attitudes it could be not following God's principles could be sin I thought about years ago probably back in about 2008 n 10 2010 maybe it was told you before B and I were spiritual advisers of the course joyful Hearts course and uh we had a program it was one of our longer tours and I'm not sure even what state it was maybe it was in Michigan and I remember that night it was a a a warmer evening I believe it was late early summer there late fall I was standing out back and as the people were gathering the church was rather full and that night there was a lady came with a young man I want to picture him be 21 22 23 in his low 20s and I could see that by his demeanor his body language that he didn't really want to be there he probably came with his mother but that night some of our youth youth men young men that were singing in the course or choir whatever you want to call it experienced something they never experienced before this young man after the service and he heard some of them songs talk to one of the ministry and the ministry had a history with this young man he was a troubled young man he had most likely and I I didn't get there I wasn't there I was with another group and we left it would have been kind of interesting to experience what they experien but this young man had sin in his life he was demon-possessed friends he really was and they different times the ministry from that congregation had tried to help him get to the cross I talked about the cross what really opened up some of our young men's eyes as they would read scripture they'd get him to read scripture okay and he would read scripture up until he got to Jesus or Christ or anything like that and he couldn't say it he would get to there to that word to Jesus or to Christ or Jesus Christ and all that would come out of his W his mouth was a was a high pitched scream and after they talked to him a little bit it was it was a darker night he went out the back of the church and they said they never saw anybody run so fast they came back again friends Sin Sin can destroy in a lot of ways when I think about Sin I've heard a lot of people say I've goofed up I've make I made a mistake I failed really what are you trying to water down you try what are you trying to say you trying to say you water down sin but you don't like saying the word sin I hear people sometimes and and I know confession I believe is something in the Christian church we don't do enough of okay but friends here tonight if you have sin in your life and you're going to confess it before the church don't get up there and say well I goofed up or I made a mistake or I failed yes it is a failure but do like David said in Psalm 51 I have sinned I acknowledge my sin before God friends here today sin is very serious business because it leads us to the next point and that is death okay lust is when we are have an appetite so when lust has conceived okay it bringeth forth sin we think about it we dwell on it we're going to live it out and friends if we don't do anything about it here verse 15 says then when lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death I've often wondered in our Christian churches how many Walking Dead people are in our churches you know I can't see your heart and life friends here tonight I don't know what your life looks like you do and God does okay you may think you have it hidden from your parents you may think you have it hidden from your pre preacher and you might but you don't have it hidden from God and you know what's in your heart John bunan said one leak will sink a ship okay there's one hole in your boat you're going to plug it or else your canoe or your boat or whatever you're in you're going to sink H my sons the other year we have a a boat we do some fishing in Eastern Shore and I'll tell you what happens if you don't put if you forget to put the plug in the boat okay yeah my son son's found out a couple times when Dad isn't along they kind of get in a little bit of a hurry sometimes always make sure that plugs in if you don't have the plug in friends going to sink John ban said one leak will sink a ship and one sin will destroy a sinner okay unrepentant sin leads to death and spiritual and total separation from God as I studied for this message the illustration I thought about this might be a little gory but it's going to give me an excellent it'll be an excellent illustration back in 2001 I was dained in May the end of fall of 2001 I got a call from a frantic father and I knew there was a commotion going on he I got cut off from the phone he we got cut off and and he called me back again and he said Doug meet us at the hospital he said my daughter lost her hand like okay wow to make a long story short the young girl was 14 years old her son had her brother had a weightlifting set it something happened to it and they were going to return it to uh the store they bought it I don't even know what the store was but that young girl was helping to uh load up that weightlifting set and it was a one of those weightlifting sets that had cables and she wrapped the cable around her hand and her dad used to like to joke with her he said um whatever he called his daughter he said what's taking you so long he said we're ready to go and she slammed the door in the car and they backed out the driveway little did they know little did she know that quite a few feet of that cable was hanging out out the door okay and when they backed up the front tire went over that cable and that cable that was wrapped around her hand got Tighter and Tighter and Tighter until it ripped the hand off okay and the doctor said she went to Hershey Medical Center um they took the hand with her with them and the doctor said it would be better if it was a clean cut okay because when that cable stretch around at the heat it created it pulled it apart like there was some in this part and some in that part she still had her thumb the doctor was a Christian which was a blessing I think it they went into surgery probably for 12 hours she had a lot of surgery after that but praise be to God that hand of hers she still has a scar but it she it almost works 100% And also the article they the Lebon Daily News news had an article of it and the title of it was hope within her grasp okay she got to tell the newspaper of what God did in her life but I say that to say this friends here tonight when I think about Sin in your life and it's unconfessed you're unrepentant of it it's like that hand it's going to eventually be get Tighter and Tighter and Tighter until spiritual death happens where that hand was separated you'll be separated from God the second point I want to think about is dealing with sin James 516a says confess your faults one to another and pray for one another that you may be healed too many times people are afraid to confess because what's everybody going to think of me what's everybody going to say about me friends it don't matter what people say or think it's what God thinks about you okay and being getting right with God I told a young man at our church who said confession is not weakness confession is strength because you mean business before God you're opening yourself up and I've told people before there was a young girl at our church that had a sin in her life as she confesses to her parents and that could be okay okay I'm not diminishing that but she didn't have a peace in her life she just couldn't get victory over it she just couldn't have peace until she confessed it to the church then she had peace that's biblical confess your faults one to another that you may be healed and friends here today I really believe when we confess our faults to the church our brothers and sisters can be praying for us not talking about it other than talking to God In Prayer friends my dear friend that's fallen for many years and it was exposed he don't need me talking about it except to God I have a friend another friend that he was uh adopted from another country and he said he thinks menites have the biggest gossip train you could ever hear about and I said no that's not true okay gossip is a human race issue not just a menite issue okay because when I look at the Democrats and the Republicans and whoever they are battling it out and always bringing dirt up and talking about all the garbage and I don't follow politics much but I know that's what they do okay it's a human thing okay but I think as Christians when you hear something that it's hard to believe a sin in somebody's life what do you do with it what do you do with it confess your faults one to another that you may be healed friends in 2 Corinthians 62 the end of verse it says now is the day of salvation if you have you sit in your life and you realize that you gave you started lusting and when you lusted then as you lusted it brought forth sin and then when you sinned it's bringing you to a spiritual death now God says is the day of salvation not at a convenient time not tomorrow not next week not in an hour maybe not even in a minute cuz you're not even promised a minute friends and I told people already when I was preaching you know the imitation is not mine that's God's okay I don't the revivals I had over the years somebody said well did anybody respond I said that's not my work my work is just to preach God's word okay and I don't consider revivals um successful unsuccessful because of how many people responded CU I don't see the hearts of men and God does and what what's going on in their lives but I always said if you're under such strong conviction I don't care if you respond right in the middle of preaching okay while I'm preaching here now if God has spoken to your heart and you want to come up and get on your knees and have somebody pray with you a counselor I say do it because friends that's how serious we ought to be about Sin the Bible says now is the day of salvation so I thought about dealing with sin sin will destroy you it will separate you one more another story to think about we had a man by the name of Doug ciders that went to Sharon years ago anybody remember no Doug ciders anybody hear about Doug ciders okay Doug ciders and his wife um Karen came I think from Harrisburg they uh he looked kind of like an Amish man he wasn't Amish at all um his wife she wore jeans she had her hair was uh hanging but they he would have read his Bible some and they came to our church and they grew a lot and uh she eventually started wearing dress the ladies helped her to put her hair up she wore a prayer veiling and uh but Doug ciders had an interesting Hobby and uh how many of you like snakes how many don't like snakes okay there's quite a few Doug ciders for a hobby was he would catch rattlesnakes in Pennsylvania and he was part of a rattlesnake Club he went up in the mountains he caught rattlesnakes he'd measure them and I think they're an endangered species I don't know why the best snake for me as a dead snake Okay uh but anyhow he could keep one a year okay other than that they were in danger they had to turn them loose he would uh but anyhow one not one time and I want to say this is probably again almost 20 years ago he brought a rattlesnake to church cleaning my friend Lyn horse be Glenn's uh brother-in-law he would have liked to have a rattlesnake and get it I guess keep the skin of it or whatever get it whatever I don't know what they do to him if they can tan or what they do so he brought a rattlesnake to church cleaning one night and it was in the bag he had it in the bag he had all the equipment he had the catching stick and he left that rattlesnake out and he was showing people people how to kill the rattlesnake okay because he was planning on killing it because he was going to give it to Lynn Lynn would have wanted a lie rattlesnake out thing okay I don't think anybody's that great but anyhow so he was killing that rattlesnake and there's so many and I I I forget there's so many breaks that you have to make on the back of that Ratt and there so close close to the back of the head that you have to break break that I guess you call it I don't know if they have a they have a spine or not but whatever they they he hits it about six different places when he got to the back of the head he got a little caress he didn't break it where he was supposed to Rattlesnake uh spun around with the head and it got him right between his fingers right here okay so he got his kid out cut it tried to suck the venom out and one of the guys was there how many of you know Leonard Martin I'm sure there's some here that know Leonard Martin oh yes Leonard Mart was there that night and uh they asked Doug Sor you think you ought to go to the hospital no he said I think I'll be okay and then about 5 minutes later they looked at him again Doug you think you ought to go to the hospital yeah maybe we should go so Leonard loaded him up in his vehicle and they took off a Good Samaritan House school which was 15 20 minutes away from Shar and Leonard said the closer I got to the hospital the faster I went he said because I could see that the Venom was taking its course of his life okay and he got to Good Samaritan hospital and they all they said all lots of nurses and doctors came in there because they wanted to see the guy that got bit by a rattlesnake it don't happen that often it doesn't happen once in a while but friends here tonight I'm saying this to compare it to sin Doug cider showed me later where the Venom went you could see the trail of Venom went up through his arm and up in here it turned all purple okay I said Doug later after they he was is all better let me just say this the antivenom was very expensive okay so it was quite expensive bill for him I said Doug I said tell me if that would happened to you when you were in a wild what would happen what would have happened he said you know what would have happened friends here tonight that's how sin in our lives is okay it started out right here just a small bite and it came up through here and he turned all purple here it was going to kill him that's the way sin is why is it so important to deal with sin in its infancy as a boy I can hear Paul CTS bellowing out the saying sin will take you farther than you want to go sin will keep you longer than you want to stay sin will cost you more than you want to pay just a few verses yet to challenge your hearts you don't need to turn to him Psalm 102 101 2 and3 says I will be this is psalmist David I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way oh when wil Thou come unto me I will walk within my house with a perfect heart fathers and mothers that's so it be our desire then verse three I will set no Wicked thing before my eyes I hate the work of them that turn aside it shall not cleave to me that word cleave in the Hebrew means that here overtake to be joined abide fast catch by Pursuit men here tonight I will have no Wicked thing before my eyes I hate the work of them that turn aside friends here today tonight I think sometimes we like sin too much we got to hate it like God does Hebrews 3:1 12-13 reads like this take heed Brethren lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief and not in departing from the the Living God but exhort one another daily while it is called today lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin okay friend lust we think about lust sin death and I've often wondered how people there were once here I got a verse here before I before I go on turn in your Bibles to Hebrews chapter 6 going to hold that thought for just a second there's a lot of debate over these verses in Hebrews 6 if you want to share with me after the service what you believe that's fine but Hebrews 6 verse 4 5 and six read like this for it is impossible for it is impossible for those who once who who were once enlightened and have tasted of the Heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come if they shall fall away to renew them again unto repentance seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God aresh and put him to an open shamee I believe with those word what these verses are saying friends that God's grace and mercy you can come back and God is W there to welcome you back if you forgive ask him for forgiveness but a lot of times when people walk away when they knew and they practice and they've been with us in church and they start following going down the wrong road and following the devil and sin continues to grow in their Liv life a lot of times they never repent there is some cases when people do but a lot of times they do not I have a good friend I talked about the other night that's been out of the church for many many years pray for him every day and I think how how can he live the life he's living He tasted of the goodness of God his sins were forgiven he had peace but friends here tonight I believe he's deceived and deception when you're deceived Satan has you believing that you're all right little saying give the devil an inch and he'll take a yard better said he will conquer and destroy you I got two examples to share with you and then I'm going to close as I think about dealing with sin and in infancy many years ago same man I talked about as a good friend of mine's been out of church for many many years over the years I've had a burden for that man and there's one one very specific time God spoke to my heart I believe it was after revivals God the Evangelist and I don't even know who the Evangelist was it's been May years ago said if we have a burden for somebody's soul that we know is lost we should speak to them and God so and burden me for my friend that I went call him up and ask him if I could talk to him he didn't know what I wanted and that night I went and talked to my friend I said my dear friend I loved him dearly okay people know if you love okay you got to talk to a soul that's lost they know if you love I people tell me that not lifing myself up that they're surprising need other than they know that I love him and he knows I love if he ever wants to come back I'm going to be there with open arms to back to Christ but that night I talked to him about his soul I said my dear friend if you died tonight if God required your soul of you tonight where would you spend eternity he put his head down he shake his head I said do you want to ask God for forgiveness tonight and I'll never forget what he said he said I need more time friends here tonight time does not heal or cure sin okay time doesn't do it the only thing that does it is when you fall on your knees at the foot of the cross and find Jesus and another young man in our church he was a young married man had small children he had a questionable friend that he was trying to kind of witness to okay it was a friend that kind of didn't have many friends uh this guy he was with and one night they went into Lebanon he went with his friend and they got into trouble they committed a sin that he knew was wrong very blatant sin it was because he was with this other friend okay the man from my church he couldn't sleep that night he called me the very next morning he said Doug I need to meet with you and he was a farmer and I remember standing by the stall one of the Stalls in the cow barn and he said Doug last night I sin he said I want to tell you about it he said I want to find peace in my life friends that's dealing with sin and its infancy okay immediately I went and talked to his wife said you talk to your wife he said he did I went talked to her he said I'll do anything you you all ask me to do to clear this up and he was a man that was stumbled with words okay he wasn't very good he didn't get in front of the church we asked him to confess it public publicly he said I will it wasn't very polished friends so tears ran down his eyes in a few words he said you could tell he repented Romans 6:23 concluding verse for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord beautiful verse the end of it but if you rece receive death because of your sin that's the wage you earned okay it really is but friends the beautiful part is the gift of God which is a gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord friends are tonight which will you choose will you choose life or will you choose death the choice is yours let's pray God as we come to a message on sin we know your word says a lot about Sin God you're looking down upon each heart and life here tonight it all our lives are an open book before you God through your spirit speak to those that need spoken to God the imitation is yours God if you spoke to somebody about a sin in their life I pray they would respond and heed your spirit and come and find peace and forgiveness for their sin or sins in Jesus name I pray amen I'm going to give an invitation tonight if you have sin in your life you can come and confess it or you can come and have somebody pray with you or maybe you're a sinner and never responded
