all right folks this will be the definitive best video on the acceleration boost on YouTube what I'm going to do is do a before Dyno and an after Dino of getting the acceleration boost to show how much power it adds and if we can actually get the real life 0-60 times that are advertised the best 0-60 time I got in this car with my draggy device air conditioning off battery at like 90 percent was 4.71 seconds so I'm going to a supercharger right now we're going to get supercharged up to like about 90 then we're going to go to the dyno to get Baseline numbers and see what power this car is actually putting down it says from the factory we should be at 385 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque so we're gonna see how much power it's actually putting down to the wheels then to the acceleration boost to see what it adds I hope you enjoy the video so we just pulled into the charging station at Arizona Mills and I saw that three of the Chargers were down on my way here I show up there's already a Tesla Service guy here and the one I pulled into we moved the cone away and fixed it so like the downtime and the maintenance is incredible in all fairness this supercharger location is always packed early in the morning you're fine but about 11 to 3 in the afternoon it's usually packed usually have to wait a few minutes luckily I pulled right into this spot but he fixed it and we're up and running again getting 117 kilowatts it's just crazy how consistent they are at servicing these now you also may have noticed the sun shade I have in my car from tea parts let's show you that right now I've showed you various accessories from tea parts and this is another great one they have the carbon fiber spoiler that I've shown you they have the game remote to interact with your infotainment system and now they have this sun shade that comes in both black and gray to match the interior of your Tesla or give you some contrast so we're going to open it up and show you how easy it is to install it also has this nice storage case that way when you're done using it you can store it in here and then just throw it in your sub compartment one side of this has a nice reflective layer that's going to go facing your glass this side will be facing down into the cabin to install the clips it's very simple you just take that edge over the front pull back and then you can see there it gives you leverage so it can hang off of the interior of the roof of the model y installation is fairly straightforward got our clips pre-aligned and then to help you out there is a tag on the driver's side on the front so on one side it says Tesla front on the other side it says Key Parts right here that goes above the driver side seat so you don't have to do what I did and cut the clip because I put it in backwards yay so this is another quality part from tea parts it creates a nice cool canopy back here it lets your car run more efficiently and it's very easy to install so it's 75 bucks I also have a discount code in the description to get that price down even more for you it ships quick and it's a quality product T parts thank you for sponsoring the video all right so we're at Black Market racing we are going to do the dyno pools here they have an all-wheel drive Dyno we're going to do a baseline pool then we're going to do the acceleration boost add-on I don't think the torque number is going to come out accurate when I was talking to the guy first off when I came in and said I have a Tesla I'd like to dyno they started laughing at me straight up so that was good also they said the torque number may not be accurate because it's an electric motor but I guess we'll see but they said horsepower will be accurate so at least we'll know that [Music] [Music] thank you so the Baseline run is complete we put down 361.95 horsepower we're precise here we're going to the decimals so from the factory this is supposed to have about 385 horsepower so now we're going to do the acceleration boost which takes 0 to 60 from 4.8 seconds down to 4.2 seconds I think it adds approximately 50 horsepower we're going to see that here it doesn't record the what is the reason it doesn't record torque it just oh off of it in the edge okay yeah so that's why but we're going to see how much horsepower the acceleration boost adds and then we're going to add it right now [Music] okay so we did the software update it literally took a couple minutes I tethered my wife my wife on my phone Wi-Fi and now it says chill and sport before it said chill and normal so we're going to test this out and then after we do the dyno to show the power we're gonna go do 0-60 runs with the draggy device to see if there's any Improvement to 60. so let's do another run all right so the second run is complete 361 base 100 horsepower gain over the initial pull that we did I don't know should we do another Pool is there a point I mean it's that's it yeah so we added a hundred horsepower with that now the car weighs 4 400 pounds so it's not going to be like adding 100 horsepower to a car that weighs 3 000 pounds so now we're gonna actually go take it to the street in the real world and see what that means for a 0-60 time and if I can actually feel the difference you said you could feel the difference on the dyno so now out there should be a lot different let's see what it's like on the street all right 100 more horsepower under my right foot I've driven a boosted model y before I just think like is this worth two thousand dollars I I guess it depends on who you are like to compare to get this amount of power out of a gas powered car it could potentially cost a thousand dollars 1500 depend on other parts you have to add to the car this can just comfortably handle it from the factory with software a lot of gas powered cars are underrated from the factory as well but for reliability and efficiency they keep them uh rained in a little bit so the fact that Tesla offers this from the factory fully under warranty is very cool I think the best thing to do is get a Tesla referral which is what I did I had a Tesla referral it cost 9 500 points and so I got this for free and whoever used my referral card saved between five hundred and fifteen hundred dollars depending on what Tesla they bought you can see on the graph where it adds it's like after it drops off after 30 or 40 miles an hour is where it continues to take off and that's what you feel in performance models as well so let's do a 0-60 test and see again the best number I've ever gotten to 60 is four point seven one seconds let's see how much better we are all right acceleration boost is on 82 percent battery let's see what kind of 0 to 60 time we can get I still wish that this had chill normal in sport now it just says chill and sport mode I think with the two thousand dollar upgrade if that's what you're paying it should show that so if you work at Tesla and you can make that adjustment that'd be great here we go right there right when you cross 30 miles per hour that's the difference in the acceleration boost 0 to 60. 4.22 seconds it gives you exactly what it advertises we'll do one more run for science but yeah 4.22 seconds exactly what they advertise they actually say 4.2 so 4.22 is not what they advertise so let's do one more yeah zero to sixty four point one nine seconds so there you go I'll have this up on the screen so you can actually see it screenshot boom again this is using the draggy whatever the hell it's called the draggy GPS device 4.19 seconds so we added 100 horsepower today and took six tenths of a second off of our 0-60 time so works exactly as advertised you should be able to maintain your range another piece of advice I'll give you from experience for what's worked for me is if you feel like your Tesla's like not fast enough or it's getting boring put it in chill mode I was just looking there's a bird flying equal with me I'm going 36 miles per hour you know Spurs are crazy if it flies it spies if you're feeling bored without the feel of your Tesla put it into chill mode drive it like that for a week you'll forget it's even in that mode and then put it back into normal mode and you're like holy cow this thing is totally different so I hope that was helpful to you guys but if you want to get more information maybe on efficiency and how Wheels affect the efficiency of your Tesla Model y click this video right here where I show you the difference between the 19 inch and the 20 inch wheels along with putting different wheel covers on them I think you'll enjoy this video
