hey you want to know a secret okay come here there's one thing that rank one players don't really want you to know about you see being good at wow doesn't mean having insane reaction speed or needing to make super flashy plays that you see in montages just look at who wins tournaments every year it's not some 18 year old kids with goated reaction speeds no sometimes even old dads wind up winning BlizzCon so how do they do it well the very best players across every expansion recognize that game knowledge is what truly carries yes even if you don't have crazy mechanical skill you can guarantee rating gains by simply knowing more than your opponents oh yeah and don't tell anyone but this video you're about to watch is packed full of rank one game knowledge it will show you all of Wrath Classics broken abilities and give you the secrets that the best players use in order to counter them I even heard there's even more rank 1 game knowledge available at skillcap.com where supposedly you can find even more Pro Secrets like class guides on how to deal maximum damage and how to become a live Lord or even Arena commentaries where the best players share their strategies and with the knowing your enemy course you can learn all of the game knowledge you need to get ahead of the competition there's even a rating game guarantee when using their website isn't that crazy hey look I gotta go here just enjoy the video anyway let's get things started with death knight by far their scariest cooldown is summon gargoyle as the name suggests this ability will summon a flying NPC that will chain cast an ability called gargoyle strike which hits for a substantial amount of damage in the off chance the DK is playing with a shaman bloodlust can be used to make these casts even faster and if you don't do anything to avoid the damage you will quickly die or need to pop major defensive cooldowns luckily there are some very nuanced forms of counter play first up since the gargoyle is technically an undead it can be cc'd with some class specific spells including turn evil from paladins and shackle from priests you may have noticed that both of these spells have a cast time which is why there are two meta-relevant glyphs that make it much easier to land these spells quickly if you play Paladin or priest you should immediately look to CC the gargoyle with either of these spells but in the case you don't have these classes on your team there are still a few things you can do for one the gargoyle strike can be interrupted and in the vast majority situations is worth committing at least one kick on your team to stop its cast if that is not an option other forms of CC work on the gargoyle too well that is excluding fears of course since all Undead NPCs are immune to that category entirely finally if nothing else is available you have two other options the first is a simply line of sighted this works best when you first apply a slow to the NPC so it can't easily chase you the second is to actually kill the gargoyle this may seem a bit crazy but its HP is relatively low and most healers won't even notice it dying if you have the damage to spare this can be worth it seeing as it lasts for 30 seconds and once it's dead it's dead forever next up we have Druid where both feral and balance have their own broken abilities for feral it's berserk you're probably familiar with this spell from Modern expansions but in Wrath it is particularly strong first up it can be used to break out of fears and even provides total fear immunity for its 15 second duration secondly it allows the Druid to spam combo Point generators on the surface this might not seem like a big deal but feral Druids have one of the highest damage ramps in the game getting a full duration Savage Roar plus full bleeds makes their damage incredibly lethal and this becomes more likely while berserk is active not to mention that while they are spamming damage and spending combo points they will also be getting increased predatory strikes procs which can be used on instant Cyclones roots and heals there are a few forms of counter play to this ability for one it is often worth it to commit a cc to the Pharaoh once berserk is used of course they will be immune to fears but can still be stunned blinded cycloned or even hibernated and chances are they will be more likely to trinket out of these micro CC's since they will want to get value out of their major offensive cooldown if they Trinket in this way it can give you an easier time punishing them with CC later on of course not every team is micro CC effects but there is definitely one thing every Arena has and that's walls yes the walls of the Arena itself can help reduce some damage as some feral spells require that the Druid is behind the target which means parking your back against a wall will prevent a small amount of damage if this isn't an option your best course of action is to use a damage reduction effect this is often a worthwhile trade since the cooldown of Berserk is relatively long compared to most defensive CDs you should also be on the lookout for predatory strikes Buffs which the Pharaoh will be getting more frequently while berserk is active while these Buffs don't directly increase the druid's damage it will allow them to CC off Targets in order to prevent peels this means keeping the Druid free of Buffs and instantly dispelling predatory strikes with a purge effect will indirectly help alleviate some pressure next up we have balanced Druids who have an exceptionally strong cooldown in the form of Starfall yes if you are coming from retail this might be a huge surprise since this ability isn't that scary in modern expansions however in Wrath of the Lich King Starfall definitely hurts and is the main win condition of any balanced Druid inside of Arena what this means is that simply countering the Starfall will put you massively ahead as boomkins really don't have much pressure outside of its 90 second cooldown Starfall itself is a buff attached to the casting balance Druid and it creates a 30 yard radius around the boomkin that causes massive AOE damage and will follow the Druid wherever the they move there are a few ways to avoid its effect one method is to CC the boomkin during Starfall as this will suppress its damage entirely note that silence effects will not work for this and instead mechanics like stuns fears and coils should generally be saved for Starfall to completely negate its damage and to potentially force a trinket on the Druid if CC isn't available the next best option is to line of sight the boomkin as Starfall damage cannot go through pillars as long as you are completely out of Los the damage will not affect you whatsoever speaking of Los we need to talk about hunters who have one ability in particular in which line of sight will be your best friend once again if you're coming from a retail background it may surprise you that beastial wrath is one of the scariest cooldowns in rap classic glancing over the tool tip by itself doesn't paint a complete picture sure 50 extra damage on a pet seems scary but the real reason why BM is so scary is the Beast Within which grants the hunter some additional damage while making them immune to nearly every form of CC yeah that's right Hunters cannot be polymorphed feared or even stunned while beastial wrath is active so what can you do for one they are still vulnerable to disarm effects during this time which means Warriors Rogues and Shadow priests might want to save these counters specifically for beastial wrath since their cooldowns are shorter making this an efficient trade while the pet might be doing the majority of the damage disarms will prevent the use of aimed shots which in case you've been living under a rock deals a lot of damage and applies a 50 healing reduction effect BM damage is scary but infinitely more manageable when you take this Ms effect out of the equation this also means that if you don't have a disarm ready the best course of action is to utilize Los in order to prevent aimed shot from Landing again it is the combo of pet damage and healing reduction that makes BM Hunter so lethal so removing just one of these things dramatically increases your chance at survival if all of this isn't enough then trading a defensive cooldown might be needed especially something like ice block or bubble since they will negate all damage while instantly removing the aimed shot debuff these of course should be used as a last resort but generally speaking BM1 hunter games are so explosive that simply outlasting one beastial wrath puts your team in a much more favorable position Paladin and we're gonna let you guess what broken ability you need to monitor alright that shouldn't have been too difficult it's wings or avenging wrath if that's what you prefer to call it you already know how this ability works from any other expansion the Paladin presses wings and they become scary and that's it right well not quite since Wings is a completely different beast in Wrath classic you see red paladins have this really strong Talent called Sanctified wrath which actually allows Wings to bypass various forms of damage reduction effects this includes things like pain suppression Shield wall or bark skin with Sanctified wrath these damage reduction cooldowns will be significantly less effective at negating damage Wings will also bypass complete damage absorptions like Shields which is a big deal if you play major priest since ice barrier and power word Shield are your primary means of Defense whenever you see a red Paladin use Wings you know it's going to be scary not for the damage alone but for its ability to negate key defensives so what can you do for one any crowd control used on the Paladin will be particularly effective especially spamble forms a cc like polymorph fear or Cyclone if you used in succession these CCS alone can deny the ret from getting any value out of wings we should note however that stunning a red Paladin during Wings can be a bit of a gamble since the Divine Purpose Talent turns their hand of Freedom into a stunbreaker disarms are also slightly less effective against Wings damage if the red Paladin is playing with a one-handed build yes that's right some rep paladins play a pseudo hybrid build utilizing a shield which means most of their damage will come from judgment and exorcism which can still be used while disarmed but if the Paladin is using a two-hander which the majority of them probably will then disarms are actually quite useful here since it will prevent the use of divine storm and Crusaders strike which are two major sources of damage for the two-handed red Paladin build especially while Wings is active avenging wrath can also be purged by any class with an offensive dispel and spell steel is arguably the best counter to Wings since it will grant the Mage a 20 damage boost on their spells the only caveat for dispelling wings is that paladins have some passive dispel resistance thanks to stoicism and even have a slew of trash Buffs that can interfere with the dispelling process as a final counter you can simply kill the red Paladin during Wings well well well skill capped what great advice but seriously avenging wrath applies a form of forbearance which prevents the Paladin from using bubble while Wings is active this makes them incredibly vulnerable to swaps and if you have no other way to avoid the wings damage then use this opportunity to reverse pressure since they will be unable to use major defensives for 30 seconds next up we have Rogue everyone's favorite class of all time right but before we dive into that you guides so what are you waiting for use the discount code below and start your journey today anyway let's show you how to counter those dumb Rogues unless you've been frozen in time since 2007 you should already be familiar with Shadow dance without a doubt this is one of the most iconic cooldowns in the game and grants sub rogue's unparalleled control in Arena along with the glyph Shadow dance allows Rogues to use any stealth ability for 8 seconds coming from retail including this ability might seem silly but the original form of Shadow dance was infinitely stronger although it only has a single charge and is hard capped to a 60 second cooldown Shadow dance is the primary win condition for rogue teams due in part to the insane amount of damage Ambush can do thanks to a few key modifiers yes the scary part of Shadow dance is the fact that Ambush actually does a ton of damage this is a departure from the modern sub Rogue damage profile which funnels most of its power into eviscerate luckily the counter disability are fairly streamlined for one disarm effects are incredibly powerful seeing as they almost all line up perfectly with the cooldown of Shadow dance so if you play Warrior Marx Hunter Shadow priest or even Rogue itself then it is often worth saving disarms specifically to deny Shadow dance once it's been used if disarms are not available chances are you will need to peel or trade a defensive in order to survive especially in season 5 where sub Rogue damage is disproportionately high one cooldown that works efficiently into dance is Roar of sacrifice since its CD will line up every time providing the target with crit immunity will help avoid the massive damage spikes from multiple ambushes lastly just like we mentioned with feral Druid sub Rogues also have a positional requirement with Ambush and can only use it from behind in the off chance that the Rogue doesn't use a stun before using Shadow dance you could position yourself with your back against a pillar to prevent Ambush damage entirely this of course might be incredibly rare but it is worth trying if nothing else is available next up we have enhancement shamans who have one of the most over budgeted cooldowns in the game no it's not bloodlust but we will mention that soon it's feral spirit this cooldown is simply called wolves because well it summons two of them now we mentioned this cooldown is over budgeted and that's because it is practically four cooldowns in one wolves grants Shaman's a Mobility spell called Spirit walk which instantly removes snares and gives a substantial speed increase since wolves last 45 seconds Spirit walk can be used twice during their duration secondly the shaman will get access to a short duration stun through bash even though it only lasts 2 seconds this micro cc is still very threatening given the overall damage Shaman Cleaves are able to do in such a short period of time finally the Wolves Grant the shaman a significant boost in survivability thanks to their passive called Spirit hunt which will heal the shaman based on a portion of the damage they deal which winds up being a ton of healing for their 45 second duration this is why you will almost always see shamans use bloodlust during Spirit wolves since it makes their pets deal even more damage while providing them with massive self-healing with all this in mind you might be asking how Earth you counter this 45 second duration ability well one way is to kill the Wolves yes this is another case where the solution is so intuitive that it is absolutely shocking when no one does this the reason this is so effective is because only one wolf will have a party frame meaning the enemy healer might not even notice the other one is dying assuming they're paying attention to the pet frames to begin with this works particularly well with cleave damage since you can kill two wolves with one blade storm in some cases again the Wolves don't have that much HP and most healers won't even notice they are dying secondly be sure to dispel bloodlust off the enemy team and even off the enemy wolves this can be a bit difficult to manage while under pressure and while dealing with trash Buffs but if you are not the main target and want to help peel for your team then be sure to strip lust off as many enemy targets as possible kiting the Wolves doesn't really work too well since the shaman will have Spirit walk to make them zip around the map meaning your Mobility can't always save you if no other options are available be ready to trade a major defensive cooldown like ice block or otherwise you will wind up in a meme for years to come speaking of memes we've arrived at the last ability on our list blade storm again just like the majority of spells in this video Bladestorm had its Origins as one of the most game breaking abilities ever introduced to wow only to recede quicker than asthma Gold's hairline over time the core feature of this ability in Wrath of the Lich King is just how much damage it is able to deal even on a single Target when you throw sweeping strikes into the mix it becomes one of the most threatening damage cooldowns in the game with near complete CC immunity while it is active aside from its raw damage Bladestorm is powerful for another huge reason and that's the fact that Warriors have the highest theoretical healing reduction in the game thanks to the combination of mortal strike and unrelenting assault which under the right circumstances can reduce healing done by 75 percent this makes the damage from Bladestorm infinitely more threatening and it is no surprise that it became the subject of a series of damaged Nerfs over time our smartest viewers might already know one of the counters to this spell and for those of you who don't it's disarmed yes despite the fact that the warrior is immune to all CC while bladestorm's active disarm effects are an exception and will instantly cancel blade storm when used this makes it crucial to save disarms for Bladestorm only otherwise you will be paying the price with your health bar for those of you scratching your head and wondering what to do without a disarm the next best options are to use a Mobility cooldown to avoid its AOE effect or to Simply trade a major defensive to help mitigate some of its damage even with an MS effect active blade storm can be out healed though better Warriors will have a cancel or a macro to quickly use an interrupt if needed again all this information might have been a bit overwhelming but remember game knowledge is the key to gaining rating and if you really want to push yourself and truly dominate the competition check out skillcap.com where you can learn the best game knowledge that the best
