Thaipusam 2024 at the Batu Caves 🇲🇾 | These monkeys are SCARY!

monkeys are scary they just oh  they're coming toward me oh my gosh C is getting your your whe  it's so beautiful I love I love   that it's painted a bunch of different  colors in school now Medics that's awesome oh no I need to get down here quick oh no   my bare feet here that's what the ground  looks like got to see it on the way oo oh [Applause] no good morning from koala lumur Malaysia this  is another beautiful day and uh I just got to   the B two cave it is closed today because  there's actually a special holiday going on   but I can see it across the way and actually  correction the caves are not closed the roads   are closed so I'm actually dropped off on the  other side of the freeway and I'm going to I   think walk across to get over to the caves so  so the holiday I think is called uh taisu pan   and I'm actually about to see if I can learn  a little bit about it I think this is a really   cool and interesting time to be coming here for  the first time um because I get to experience a   special day while experiencing the cave so this  is very very cool as I walk around here I can   already see that there's a bunch of stuff set  up um there's not a ton of people here yet and   I think that's because it is more of an evening  event so um we'll see if I like hang around for   a while to to see more stuff happen I honestly  don't know I couldn't find like an agenda or   like what the day is supposed to look like so I  just showed up and going to see what I find but   already this is like super chill plenty of stuff  look they even have like a fondue machine over   there cheese ponti py I just had my first one  of those recently he got a bunch of um sandals   oh wow it even splits off wow this is looking  like it's going to be a really big Market under   the bridge over here I can actually see  a lot of chairs I don't know what that's for I hope I'm going the right way  what is that one place special food gr but clearly there's a lot of uh tent set  up and uh it looks like it's building up to   be a really cool event oh wow some police  cars over here I wonder if I'm supposed to   walk it's got to be right oh wow it feels a lot  cooler in the shade I believe that's sugar cane juice okay lots of lots of people over here now  let me know in the comments um I believe this   is a Hindu holiday um I was reading about it  and I saw that it has something to do with a   guy who like slayed some demons or something  I apologize I'm not Hindu so probably doing   a bad job of explaining what it is but yeah  feel free to correct me in the comments help   me learn and help other people learn uh what  this holiday is that way we can appreciate   it better together um but I I'll see if I can  learn more about it while I'm here wow this is beautiful so right now I'm just walking up to  what looks like the entrance and you can already   see the very colorful gate it's got a bunch of  statues on it I believe these are um different   gods maybe I know the the one with the elephant  trunk and the all the different arms I believe   that's a Hindu god but okay so the thing that you  see in all the pictures when you look up the bat   caves is the big statue with the cave and the the  colorful steps leading up to it and I can already   see right there wow I can't believe I'm actually  here this is so cool bat two caves in koala Lora Malaysia all right super cool yur ice yogurt  that sounds good but you know I've been having   some milk lately and it is not doing well for my  stomach so I know I need to keep some distance   from uh any kind of yogurt honestly Dairy  okay I'm seeing that there's um the uh the flowers Indian atti I think what is  this oh the massage chairs I love   the massage chairs o look at this jewelry this are   tourists one of the most uh wellknown uh tourist  destination in Malaysia okay but then the other   70% that's all like locals and locals wow every  every year it's a it's a it's a national event   okay it's a national event but focusing towards  the Indians which is much a pretty much a Tamil   Community whereby they they go and do their their  whatever wow they have the the what wow they the   prayers normally they fast for certain certain  certain around 48 days then they'll do the prayers   they normally they'll carry C or they'll carry  the milk okay go up and they serving and they   come oh wow later I think you are at the right  day today later after about 5 6:00 today you can   see the cies will be coming here you know the  one is the C where can see the H and carry the   C and all something I think at the right time one  2 hours you can see the crowd coming in now cool   okay Char the Chari is coming the Chari the grand  Chari is coming oh wow okay so if I hang actually  seeing like something different again even   though I'm in uh Malaysia go to another  part see all kinds of new stuff love it people are wearing um actually there's a lot of  people wearing yellow t-shirts I wonder if there's   some kind of significance to that again I know I  keep saying this but let me know in the comments   if there's just things I don't know no I I'm sorry  guys I'm very ignorant this is not a it's not not   my religion it's not my country so I'm out here  to learn so if there's something that I'm like   messing up or something that I'm not noticing  please let so cool I actually see some really big speakers set up  here so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets nice   and Loud here later this is this is amazing  okay it looks like it's some kind of Temple   um I'm hope I'm allowed in I'm going to take  my shoes off cuz I see other people doing that actually um excuse me is it okay if I  go inside yeah with no shoes and your   socks prer take the socks off fire all right let's  take a look this is so beautiful I love   how many colors are painted on every inch of this place wow seems to me like a a place of prayer absolutely beautiful so there's like plain   marble pillars not totally plain  but compared to the others their plane oh wow I see that there's a  fire up front and that he um put   something on on the people's head I wonder  if they're making um some kind of offering   oh wow I would love to participate  but I actually I don't know how oh   this is the stuff they carry up maybe  that's what they were talking about wow beautiful Temple excuse me is this something um is this  something everyone can can do uh may may I ask   what what is happening here no English oh it's  okay oh okay so I think that they're making a donation now that's something I've never seen  before I've seen a lot of people with um I   don't know if it's like clay or something but  covering their entire head see at least here's   another person that on   the other side looks like it has  a bunch of large like sculptures   I see a huge lion sticking out  right there I want to take a look this is so pretty seems like there's a lot of people here  with their families everyone seems to be in a   good mood I see a lot of people smiling wow oh  oh okay I need to take my shoes off for this for sure it's a little bit loud I hope you guys  can still hear me but there's a lion lots of   pillars with sculptures at the tops but look  over here now I don't know if that's um a God   or a Buddha but wow that is a large laying  one it's interesting to me that they have   the red around the eyes that's something I've  never seen before but the uh the nose ring and   the the jewelry and the arms wow there's even  like um something at the very top over there   like there's like a sword here it looks like it  looks like a throwing star and then um I don't   know if that's called like a trident very very  beautiful this is this is something something else oh yeah as I was saying a lot of  people here and it seems like a lot   of people are coming with their families  I mean the guy said earlier that there's   going to be between 1.5 I think I think  to 2 million people over like the next   couple days that's a lot of people and he said  that 30% were Travelers or foreigners and then   the rest were locals I guess so that's  like I don't know 1 and 1 half million locals wow so this is the huge statue that's got  to be so tall and then I'm at the base of the St   you guys are probably going to see me get very out  of breath in a minute here oh wow and this is what   it looks like at the base um I see a lot of people  wearing shoes but I also see oh my God there's a   monkey right here what look at this guy it's  like there's plenty of food for him oh there's two I was not expecting there to be monkeys  here what the heck all right maybe I'll see   more up there oh there's another one  oh there's so many monkeys here oh cool wow I probably shouldn't get too close I've  seen monkeys in other places and I oh honestly   they kind of scared me yeah I've seen monkeys  in some other places and I know they like to go   into your pockets and grab your stuff pull on  your clothes so I'm going to try got to keep a   little bit of distance here this is super cool  they're all over the place oh my gosh jumping   and stuff F basically now Lord Muran will be traveling in  Chariot right now so he they departed him about   9:30 last night so he'll be coming here about  5 if you are here five or six you can see a big   bright one will be coming up and they're going to  bring it up no they won't bring it up okay so it's   basically like his arrival something celebrating  for him why everyone wearing yellow when they   carrying things everything cuz that's his favorite  color oh really example like my friend here he   carries the milk and everything so he has yellow  because fav coloror see pretty much see why they   getting offer the milk recovery is something like  offering to him okay yeah the milk like final like   offering while the covery is like your Shing your  your we like all the hard things to your sin and   everything getting beat as well going up cool okay  dude thanks man um so I I actually went into one   of these and I I did a prayer and I got this so  can I leave this at the top and make an offering   can leave it at the top as well or you can keep  it for yourself as well okay cool actually for   you to be honest for you to keep it and then you  knower it to God so you want give can see the back   of the statue I can see way off into  the city beautiful I love looking at   the skyline a little bit out of breath okay  look there's monkeys everywhere this is super cool okay got a couple more  flights it's so beautiful   I love I love that it's painted a bunch  of different colors this monkey's got an apple okay wow I can see the entrance to  the cave too super cool and there's like   something really hanging down all the way down in there okay wow if you let me I'm hoping that  there's like a some kind of sign up here   that tells me how many steps and  how many feet or meters I'm going   up this is this is for real I'm afraid  of these monkeys got another one right here uhoh okay I hope that's it almost there guys  I am out of shape okay there's another   monkey here I'm super out of shape so  I'm a little bit embarrassed that I'm   this out of breath but you know what when  I'm traveling it's hard okay it's hard to   be going around eating all the foods while  still working out every day you know I'm we   having a good time enjoying myself it's hard  to be healthy sometimes but you know what I   actually did work out this morning and I'll  count that as my cardio portion but what's happening yeah you're not do you guys know what's happening very cool you guys are all from  Malaysia are you like school or in high   school right now oh Medics that's awesome  did you guys have to go through some kind   of training for that very cool very cool have  you had to help any Medics is it because of the   monkeys or like just the strenuous I see people  collection all the time get e of it ah okay you   guys probably like give them water help them out  well wow well that seriously is like a strenuous   activity I feel it right now cool life but  nothing like this ever oh my God so we have a   shrine here on the right side I'm still trying  to be cautious cuz there's there's still there's   a lot of monkeys here oh wow there's like a  statue up there looks like it's split in half   with a tree and a peacock something about that  feels very familiar I feel like I've seen that before oh no oh gosh these monkeys are scary I don't I don't know how I'm  supposed to behave when they're all   chasing me okay okay we have a  shop over here looks like they   have um probably offerings to to give  I don't know why there was a werewolf mask wow I can't believe I'm  in a cave right now this is so beautiful on the right we have some statues  I don't know if they're um I don't know uh   if saying like souvenirs is the wrong word I  think yeah I think these are souvenirs like shrines okay so it looks like the name is  tree vatar Temple maybe there's multiple   temples and that's why this one says it's  the main Temple but yeah guys this is super   dope um I've never done anything like this  before and it's cool how it's like one thing   after another first you have a market  then you go up stairs then there's like   monkeys everywhere it's like non-stop  looks like they're actually requiring   the no shoes rule over here so at least I'm  prepared for that oh it's even written on the Rock wow there's holes that go all the way through  to the looks like there's light coming in the top   so to the guy oh my gosh yeah I can see the the  trees up there this is absolutely beautiful I love   the decorations I'm curious if any of you know  is it always decorated like this or is it only   because it's the holiday all of this seems like  it's probably an always thing but I don't actually know [Music] I think it's free entry oh no cost [Music] money thank you very much okay so  it turns out there's a 5 RM   entrance fee and it says Tai right there on the top seems like there's a water  source over here is that why I'm hearing oh wow looks like this is where everyone  leaves their offerings wow [Music] okay I don't want to hold up the line so I'll keep moving oh there's more stairs wow look at this this is crazy all right I see people up there so I think   that means I can walk it I'm  still keeping a lookout for monkeys oh and there's like raindrops  coming in here the ground is a little   bit [Music] wet is cool they have  LEDs connected to everything my gosh wow it feels amazing up here there's a nice  Cool Breeze feels like it's from a fan but I think   that's just because there's like a a wind tunnel  or something this is what it looks like from the   top and all around it's just huge beautiful  Temple I can see the I don't know if it's   slag mites or stag tights I don't actually know  there's birds in here maybe bats I don't know all right wow I just can't imagine how much time it   would have taken to build everything  everything's painted everything's so beautiful oh this okay okay I think that might be the end wow and I think he gave me um an apple wow this is honestly so beautiful we got wax burning some people just relaxing up here maybe  taking a a break from the long walk up the steps   woo how cool all right guys well I think I'm  going to take a break um my camera's getting   hot so I'm going to let it cool off for a  second and um I'm going to see if there's   anything else I want to show you guys while I'm  up here otherwise I'll see you on the way down okay so I walked back out to the stairs and  the cave entrance I'm about to go down I hope   I don't have any issues with the monkeys on  the way down cuz that was pretty scary on   the way up I reorganize my bag so I got it all  in my arms I feel a lot safer this time but my   pockets are a little bit exposed so that still  need to be careful but yeah I mean I'm feeling   some raindrops that worries me a little bit oh  but wow isn't this this place is so beautiful   I'm just amazed I love that I can see all the  way down to the bottom it's pretty steep I can   see the freeway oh no I need to get down here  quick oh no it's going quick it's going quick   all right I'm just going to try to work my way  down quickly cuz it is going to get slippery   and that scares me I have no traction with my  bare feet here that's what the ground looks like okay wow I can see the back of the  statue up here I'm a little bummed that   it's raining I'm glad I at least  got to see it on the way ooh oh   no I'm glad I got to see it with uh  clear skies on the way up woo this is scary but I think that means it's time to  end the video I'm really glad I came here   um I didn't have a lot of time but I was like  you know what that cave sounds like a really   cool experience I I shouldn't pass that up so it  was actually a lot closer than I thought but at   first I thought it was going to be like an all  day thing and uh I made it out here super super   impressed it's bigger than I expected cave was I  actually didn't see pictures of the inside of the   cave and I didn't realize how big it was in there  so that was cool and yeah I'm glad I got to watch   part of the the annual tradition of taasan wow  I still got a lot of stairs to go this is crazy   that statue is huge so yeah I didn't actually see  any information to learn about like how many steps   there are how tall the thing is so I'm going to  do some research after this so I can learn about   like you know more about my surroundings it's  a bummer to go somewhere and not really like   be able to appreciate everything I'm right now so check this out it almost feels like a parade but what  I understand is they actually marched very   far to bring this I'm not sure if  this is like the main thing [Music] spe wow there curious what they're  going to do once they get to the [Music] stairs [Music] hallelu okay well that was my experience at the bat  2 caves in koala lumur hope you guys enjoyed   watching I definitely
