hi everyone welcome to my channel in the previous tutorial we learned how to unwrap the UV map of the low poly character that's required for adding texture and texture painting processes you can watch the previous tutorial from the link in this tutorial we'll learn how to add and paint textures switch to the shading workspace and select the shirt as you know we already added materials in the previous tutorial we created a UV grid texture a I want to use PBR Textures in this model you can find lots of free textures to use in your project go to the share textures.com website I will share the link in the video description click the textures Tab and go to the fabric category choose any fabric texture you want to download Define the texture quality I will select the 4K quality don't forget that the higher you set the texture quality the longer the render time and the larger the file size in the same way download PBR textures for pants and [Music] shoes once you downloaded extract the files rename the extracted folders as you can see many texture maps are in this folder I only want to use the base color and normal Maps go back to the blender with the shirt selected click the open new image button go to the shirt folder and open the base color image we downloaded now we can see the texture image on the model but we need to resize the image to do that select the image texture node and press crl T so the texture coordinate and mapping nodes will be added if it doesn't work make sure the node Wrangler add-on is enabled go to the edit menu preferences click the add-on tab search for node Wrangler and enable it we also use this add-on to add PBR textures practically go to the mapping node and increase the XY and Z scale values uniformly that's it all right let's add the normal map a normal map is a texture used in computer Graphics to add surface detail to 3D models without increasing their geometric complexity you can watch my Tut tutorial about PBR textures from the link let's add a new image [Music] texture open the normal map image we [Music] downloaded plug the vector node into the vector node switch the color space to non-color because they contain directional information of surface normals rather than color information we need to convert this data into a vector add a normal map [Music] node plug the color node into the color node and the vector to the vector node if you zoom into the shirt you can see the surface details if you increase the strength value you can see the details strongly don't forget it's just a fake effect on the surface we're not actually deforming the surface set the strength value to two increase the roughness value to make the Surface less reflective all right select the pants this time we'll add the textures more practically delete the image texture node and select the principled Shader press shift control T and select the base color and normal maps in the pants folder click the principled texture setup that's it all texture Maps will be connected automatically with the node Wrangler add-on increase the scale value uniformly set the normal map strength value to two increase the roughness value just a little bit now select the shoes and make sure you are in material slot one in the same same way let's add texture [Music] Maps increase the scale [Music] value set the normal map strength value to two lower the roughness value to have a more reflective shoe surface all right let's start painting textures switch to the texture painting workspace on the right window press Z key to switch to material preview mode first select the object you want to paint switch to the object mode and select the pants switch back to the texture painting mode open the texture slots menu and ensure that the base color texture is selected then click the plus icon and add a base color paint slot you can rename the paint slot let's keep the name pants base color set the image quality to 4K select the fill color black and set the alpha value to zero so the background of the image will be completely transparent click the okay button and create the paint slot select any color from the Color Picker go over the pants and try to paint as you can see we can't see the changes on the pants however we can see the changes on the image editor it's because we haven't yet connected the image to the material output switch to the Shader workspace here you can see the image texture node we just created we need to mix both the base color and paint textures add a mix color node drop it between the base color and Shader nodes plug the paint texture into the B socket that's it if you set the factor value to zero it will be 100% of the first texture if you set it to one it will be 100% of the paint texture if you plug the alpha node into the factor node all areas other than the painting will be the first texture that's exactly what we want all right switch back to the texture painting workspace to delete the existing painting go to the brush settings and switch the blend mode to the erase Alpha apply the brush to the pants [Music] switch the blend mode back to mix pick the white color set the brush strength value to 0.1 hold down the mouse wheel on the top menu and slide it to the left side enable the X symmetry option so we can paint symmetrically on the x-axis apply the brush to the pants switch the stroke method to the line so we can apply the brush with a line we can scale the brush size by pressing the F [Music] key we can also apply the brush on the UV map [Music] all right let's paint the shirt switch to the object mode select the shirt and back to the texture paint open the texture slots menu and select the base color texture click the plus icon and add a base color paint slot keep the name shirts base color set the image quality to 4K select the fill color black and set the alpha value to zero click the okay button switch to the Shader editor plug the paint texture into the Shader with the mix [Music] Shader plug the alpha node into the factor node mode go back to the texture painting press numpad 1 to switch to the front view pick a white color set the brush strength value to one switch the stroke method to line go to the falloff menu and select the falloff type to constant adjust the brush size and draw a line from top to bottom in the same way let's paint the sleeves [Music] switch the stroke method to the space and apply the brush to the [Music] collar switch the stroke method to the drag Dot select black color hold down the left click and drag the button where you want disable the X symmetry [Music] option all right let's learn how to add decals and logos on the models with texture painting open up the texture menu and click the new button to add a Tex texture switch the mapping method to the [Music] stencil select white color switch the stroke method to space ensure that the falloff type is constant go to the texture properties Tab and add a new texture open any logo image in PNG format to adjust the stencil size to fit the image aspect ratio go to the texture menu and click the image aspect button hold down the right Mouse button to move the stencil where you want hold down the shift key and right Mouse button to resize the logo make sure that draw tool is selected and the brush strength value is set to one apply the brush to the logo go to the texture menu and unlink the image that's it all right let's say you want to make the logo reflective to do that open the texture slots menu select the base color and add a roughness paint slot set the resolution to 4K select the fill color white because roughness Maps contain black and white color data white means the material is all rough black means the material is all reflective set the alpha value to zero click the okay button when you go to the shading workspace you can see the roughness map connected to the roughness node go back to the texture painting workspace select black color and apply the brush to the logo that's it [Music] you can also apply the brush to the [Music] buttons all right let's paint the arms go to the shading workspace select the arm and delete the existing image texture back to the texture painting open the texture slots menu and add a base color set the resolution to 4K select the fill color black and the alpha value to zero choose the fill tool in the left panel pick a human skin color apply on the arms in the same way paint the face and hair [Music] [Music] choose the draw tool and pick a white color lower the brush strength switch the fall-off type to smooth apply the brush to the hair [Music] choose the smear tool and apply it to the [Music] hair finally let's paint the shoe so [Music] in the next tutorial we'll learn how to rig the low poly character in blender thanks for watching see you in the next tutorial
