g'day everyone i'm jazza welcome to youtube it's a little bit like tiktok except you have to turn your phone sideways to watch horizontal videos i know it's a bit frustrating and it's weird to get used to but trust me it's worth it last time we looked at tick tock we mucked around with some art challenges and we made our own creature with the dice the first roll determines the temperament one evil six good the second rolls the amount of limbs they have the third roll is the amount of eyes they have in the fourth their skin color from one to six they are red blue green yellow purple pink the fifth roll is the hair color using the same order of colors and then step back and admire your art what the hell i've seen a lot of you have been submitting it because i opened it up to you guys in that video so later in this video i'm going to be checking out your submissions to that dice creatures challenge i started and we're going to jump into that later but i want to look at art hacks because i hear that tiktok is a cornucopia for art hacks we'll try some out we'll experience some review some and we'll see where we go how to transfer your sketch to a canvas first get a pencil then start shading the back of the sketch till it looks something like this start over lining up that's a good one let's do it you ready let's transfer the dragon we're going to use our first art hack from tiktok because i can see the lines on the other side i can see that i don't have to fill all of it in i just need to to shade in where the actual lines are all right so i've got my areas down just thicken them up in places where it's a bit thin now we do the over lining just drawing over the uh the areas where i've got the lines there that i want to transfer oh my god i'm gonna be honest i didn't expect it to work as well as it just did that's a two thumbs up one here's how to make a realistic skin tone with very little paint colors you start with just red and yellow make an orange and add a tiny tiny dot of blue and that gives you a nice medium skin tone that's actually really good advice i genuinely learned some things from that because i tend to over mix colors mucking around and it's only in my recent mucking around in oil painting that adding that bit of blue has worked quite well in the shadows but i haven't done that in the mid tones to neutralize it and i felt like they were a little bit yellow that's really helpful 60 second tutorial on drawing teeth and a smile with the mouth open do not draw these vertical lines no don't yes that's good advice draw the gum lines kind of just like a v shape and under the gum lines on the two front teeth put a dot feed it in with your blending stump wait what's a blending stump blending stump a blending stump or a paper stump is a stick of tightly rolled up soft paper with two pointed ends they used to blend smear or smudge graphite charcoal with similar mediums i want to muck around with blending stumps and this has got good advice on how to draw a mouth and how not to draw a mouth that's two thumbs up obvious hacks that are not obvious use hair spray to fix your drawings keep them from smudging i'm going to test this with this drawing i'm just going to add a bit more graphite because there's more ink than graphite so just sort of shading in some areas and adding to the airlines as you can see the more i press and drag the more i smudge and this can be useful as you can see i'm using it to create a bit of a speed effect and if i'm quite firm and go in repeated places i actually quite like this it sort of adds to the drawing but what you don't want is to do that accidentally so let's give the hack a go give it time to dry so it's fully dry now and if i in theory push this way that's still smudgy that didn't seal my drawing let's just be fair and briefly compare this with matte spray finishing sealer let's just do it on this dragon artwork something different again just very lightly just going to add some shading just to test out the difference because i could be unfair you hear like you know maybe actual art sealant spray that's meant to do this would have the same effect if i actually tried to smudge in it all right i'm just gonna give it a whole smear oh my god that worked amazingly well no smudges who'd have thought that using the actual product that's meant to finish and seal your artwork it would finish and seal your artwork unlike hairspray maybe it's the brand of hairspray white gel pens for highlights that's just what the white gel pen is for that's not an art hack that's just an instruction that is very they're very good drawings you're a very good artist here's part one here it is what are your initial art hacks use a piece of paper to prevent your hand from getting dirty that's a that's a reasonable one i've always done that keep tin foil as a palette so you don't need to wash it okay yeah i'm on board that's pretty that's pretty good yeah all right look i credit where credit's due there's a couple of decent ones i'm going to give you a thumbs up hairspray no but the palette that's good the paper drawing thing someone had to teach that to me so you're teaching some people that well done white does not necessarily mean bright if you're trying to make your colors brighter try playing around with some neons adding a neon will kick up the intensity without desaturating the color i like that one because white obviously isn't saturating it's desaturating the tone so if you're making something lighter you lose that saturation which is basically saying use a highly saturated lighter pigment and you can mix in the white as well but it stays vibrant that's good i like that turning dried out paint tubes into watercolor oh that's cool i'm not gonna give it a thumbs up though because it's not i've never i've never had a dried out paint tube i don't know how unsealed or old a paint shoe has to be for it to actually dry out let me know in the comments have you do you have a problem with dried out paint tubes i'll give it i'll give it a almost thumbs up legs are kind of curvy and point in and down like little triangles next is the side body the human torso is shaped less like a carrot and more like a bean the elbow goes in the middle of the torso hand at the middle of the thigh this guy is a very straight posture but it's more comfortable if you add the tilt and you can see that if the knee bends the hip goes down hip down shoulder up so the jaw is usually located a little bit above the mouth and this is true for manga styles as well so there you have it five common anatomy mistakes part three i like that they're helpful tips i don't know what qualifies an art hack i feel like an art hack is something that solves a problem in a new way these are drawing tips and they're good ones i like them thumbs up for that but i don't feel like it's hacked anything it's just sort of guiding to be fair i can imagine being a new artist and just looking up art hacks and just scrolling through these and just soaking in a lot of cool stuff something i always struggle with is i draw sketches that are full of life and depth but then when i draw the line art it just feels flat for some reason but then i watched a video from my favorite artist of literally all time she draws her line art on the same layer as her sketch and she literally erases it as she goes and just goes over it with the darker color and bro there is a difference i don't know if you can tell but like i don't know my theory is that it gets you out of your head and it gets you more into the flow of art anyways let me know what you think and like for a part two i don't know if it's a hack again it's a cool tip but that's a that's a double thumbs up really interesting one this method is really useful if you want to break down the anatomy of a hand i'll draw a line down my thumb and curve it around the middle of my hand so when we're done your hand is going to look like this and it's going to make hand studies so much easier and more flexible with what you want to create that's an interesting one because we did not hack with the facebook art hacks thing that was similar but it used a glove i guess it was trying to avoid the mess but it was really inorganic and not great this one's more organic i can see it actually being more useful except that it's messy half a thumb up lay down some squiggly lines that's it that's the technique just a bunch of squiggly lines until you have something that kind of look like petals some artists that use this technique they're so good my dude they just have one flawless swoop and they got a full pedal i'm not one of those artists oh my god that's really cool i'm impressed i like that one today i'm going to show you an easy way to get your cheap colored pencils to look like they're expensive colored pencils hey it's rain now we're going to give him a bath for maybe about three to five minutes and now that we broke down the first layer of wax check it out okay well that's cool because it's always the resistance i feel in the cheap pencils that's a good hack i like that hack well done don't waste your time or money on buying fabric paints if you already have acrylic paints it's a fabric medium alternative which you just mix with your paints and heat set ah that's clever your fabrics come out soft stretchy and what's washable let's go that's two thumbs up an easy way to give your paintings a professional finish is to paint the edges have you ever been irresponsible with one of your paint brushes to then find it doing like weird things like this you can alleviate that problem using good old-fashioned hand sanitizer helps to kind of break it all up and make it good as new i like it that's actually a pretty good hack thumbs up depending on how much of a custom color mix i have left over i will just store it right in the syringe that's a good hack too i like that hack you're a good art hacker i'm following you if you're looking for paint that's going to give you full coverage make sure that it has this little black box oh this is useful stuff instead of only painting on stretched canvas i often prime watercolor paper with gesso because it ends up giving you the same nice texture to paint on but it doesn't cost as much that's a good tip bender like that one too who's our hat queen creative steph well done steph good tips but i want to take a break and check out your wonderful submissions to the dice creatures challenge oh my god there's so many it just keeps going like check this out it's still it's it's there's so many it's not loading them in time for me to scroll okay obviously i can't go through all of them in this video so go check out the dice creatures challenge you can see it by following me on tick tock and you can see the dice creatures thing tap that and go to that little soundtrack on the bottom right and you can see all the submissions that use that same audio soundtrack where people make their own dice creatures i'll put the link in the description to this dice creatures challenge i'm going to make another challenge at the end of this video for you to join in which i'm going to show you in a future video on this channel and showcase some of the top entries to that so i'm going to flick through the top 20 or 30. maya your heart what the hell so actually it looks really cool step back and admire your heart i'm surprised you guys kept up with the speed of all the problems and then step back and admire your heart what the hell this is so cool they're so random like all the characters are so different the same order of colors and then step back and admire your heart wow oh my god these are some serious creatures guys step back and admire your heart what the hell whoa that's a really cool like that really simple design and just cool textures well i just love that execution i love it i love seeing the progress ones too where you can sort of see the stages as they went through it wow yes that's so good i love that fifth roll is the hair color oh my god this is amazing admire you whoa my god amazing you guys are amazing like i said i can't show everything in this video that's not what this video is but please go check out the amazing entries there's such cool stuff here i'm gonna check it out in my own time see this challenge after drinking too much i haven't seen any of these where they go side by side what's that called it's um it's like it's a duet it's a duet let's do what you at you and me you're watching this right now as you can see there's gonna be a lot of people joining in the duet that's cool that means because there's going to be a lot of stuff for you to enjoy and have a chance to being spotlighted in a future video on this channel and of course get noticed and get some exposure and find some new followers on tiktok from other people who are exploring our little challenge so it's up to me to create part one of the duet i'm going to draw the right page of a sketchbook and you're going to draw the left page i don't know if any of you can relate to this but i only really draw on one side of the sketchbook all of my sketches are on the right page of the sketchbook maybe it's because there's something darker a foot i feel like there's a theme here that i can channel [Music] okay i've got a drawing i'm happy with the drawing i think it's a cool concept i'm going to be on the right side of the duets you're going to be on the left so i just got to give a context as to what it is that my avatar is hiding from pushing away scared of what i wanted to do is like finish it off by basically having myself sort of covered up or destroyed by whatever it is that i'm hiding from all i need is this little bit of paper phil i mean i've got something here and i'll just add sound and voice over let's hope this works for some reason i only ever draw on one side of the sketchbook i like to tell myself it's because it's neater and i don't want the drawing to show through on my nice illustrations but maybe the truth is i'm just scared of what lies on the other side oh god no no stop i think that went pretty well don't you all right let's add some horror sound i have a feeling that this is perfect because it leaves room for you guys to do something really epic and creepy or really dumb and funny and it's all good all right allow duet posts it's up to you what's on the other side of the sketchbook we're going to have a look at that all together in a future video i realized that i should wrap up my art hacks tick tock video on youtube with a tick tock art hack that i contribute myself and i've seen the caliber of tik tok art hacks out there i feel like i might have a few up my sleeve and actually drawing this picture has made me think of one that i lean on pretty heavily and i've never had to not use which is how to draw chains it is a sort of how to draw but it's a hack it's a really simple like mechanism i'm doing this in best so you got your lines this is going to be sped up so i'm just going to go circle circle circle circle circle all right i've done my erasing and then oh don't lose it don't lose it i didn't mean to lose it let's add a voiceover draw a line for the direction of the chain and draw little circles again i'm running the same problem i had last time i'm not quick enough sketch little circles along the lines that use that again the answer last time was write a script and read the script i'm doing that then draw the rounded rectangles connecting these lines why is this so hard and an outer and inner line and voila easy oh just that last second let me show you the super easy way to draw chains just draw lines for whether positioned and sketch little circles all the way along then draw rounded rectangles connecting these circles with ink and then go back over those original circles with your ring pen with an outer and inner circle erase your sketch and voila easy chains outer and inner circle erase your sketch and voila easy chain all right i feel like that's possible let's add some music or something fun chain chains we need that one yeah that's the one all right i've got a changed heart hack chain chain chain hashtag art hacks there we go boom it's posted so go check out my art hack if you want to learn how to draw channels i am occasionally posting to tic toc as well so feel free to follow me if you want to see some impromptu art challenges or goofs this has been a really fun look at art hacks on tick tock i'm pleasantly surprised i actually learned some things and got some cool ideas for things i want to try and muck around with obviously my main thing is youtube so don't be like oh my goodness we're going to talk about but i'm actually having a lot of fun because i think something that hank green said about it being a real community vibe over on tick tock is really what i'm liking the fact that i can directly interact with you guys and just sort of have a bit of a play back and forth in a really direct way that i don't get to do as much on youtube so if that sounds like fun to you go follow me on tick tock and check out the future videos i come out with on this channel subscribe here but obviously my main thing here is having fun with art and creativity and that is what we did today i hope you had fun with me there are more videos over there you're bound to enjoy that's it for now and until next time i'll see you later maybe oh this could be at you out with my editor all right your turn ready you can join in oh no oh god
