Tesla Turbine Build

so unlike my previous videos this time I'm actually going to build something for a purpose I'm building a Tesla turbine for somebody who needs a chef spinning at about 30,000 rpm and who needs it to be powered by compressed air so if you haven't come across this sort of design before it works by forcing a jet of air to spiral inwards and as it does this surface affects drag the discs round until the air gets to the center and then escapes through the exhaust holes now luckily for me Jonny q90 has published a series of YouTube videos that show how he's built a micro Tesla turbine so massive thanks to John both of the videos and for answering my questions to help me with building this and if you haven't seen John's videos I suggest probably stop watching this and go and watch what he's done first anyway it's time to get into the workshop and to start building the turbine discs [Music] [Music] [Music] after hand drilling the discs that need to be tidied up in the mill with the reamer [Music] [Music] now with the benefit of hindsight I should probably use an HSS tooltip to do this interrupted cut it's fair to say did the insert the pair of no good [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so with the disks car I'm now going to make the clamp that keeps everything in place and I'm doing this slightly different to John it's all going to be held with m2 bolts rather than soldered [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] right with the disks cut and that out of the way I can now put them together for a quick test assembly and then it's time to move on to the housing so this is made from bar stock cut with the bandsaw and then it's ready to be machined into shape [Music] [Music] [Music] I want to get the two bearings to be a good fit to the two end caps so to get the hole size just right I'm going to use an adjustable reamer [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you [Music] you [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music]
