2024 Subaru wrxt 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance in Ultra red the Subaru is in ignition red the Subaru the TR is the driver's version of the WRX currently there is a GT trim that goes above it but this is dedicated to the drivers Subaru listened to the enthusiasts that love the Subaru brand and missed the STI and made a bunch of changes to this car well I shouldn't say a bunch there's a few changes to this car that make it more driver focused now this is my Tesla Model 3 Performance and I understand that there is a cost difference between the two of them this starting at $4,99 and this at $42,000 now the Subaru is a manual transmission this is obviously an electric vehicle but they're both performance-oriented Enthusiast focused vehicles and that's what I'm going to be doing comparisons on over the next several years with my model 3 Performance they are both all-wheel drive they have high performance brakes the Subaru actually has a six piston Brembo brake caliper up front along with Brembo brakes in the rear they have Penza s007 tires so a very sticky aggressive summer Tire the Tesla has an ultra high performance summer Tire made in tandem with plli so this is made specifically for the model 3 Performance they worked together to make sure this wheel had low rolling resistance to give it extra efficiency because it's an electric vehicle and a ton of performance and kept it quiet so it doesn't have the harsh ride this also Al has an Adaptive suspension so you can take it to a sport setting or a comfort setting this does not have adaptive dampers but the Subaru WX GT line does have adaptive dampers the problem with that one is it only comes in a CVT transmission but I would rather drive an electric 10 ways bike instead of driving in a CVT transmission so today's video sponsor is 10 ways who makes ebikes let's check that out so your 10 ways bike will come in a box like this and it's very easy to assemble all ways ebikes even come with a toolkit giving you everything from the reflectors needed the wrenches and hex keys to tighten everything down and make sure the bike is properly assembled it's very easy to follow the cgo 600 Pro weighs only 37 lb and has 53 M of assisted range it also has a 20 mph top speed that's assisted but you can go well beyond that just by pedaling on pure power it also has a 6061 aluminum frame which lets them make something that's really strong and really lightweight as well as CST puncture-proof tires and a single speeed drivetrain with a carbon belt the tekro disc brakes are also really impressive on this thing and give you a nice brake feel and I've even noticed because it's 100,000 de in Phoenix they heat up pretty quickly which make them even more aggressive the color on this bike is avocado green and it's a matte finish they also have midnight black matte finish and sky blue matte finish as well as Pebble gray it's also funny that the cgo 600 Pro has a headlight that reminds me of the rivan so this cgo 600 Pro like I said it's Ultra lightweight you get 53 Mi of assisted range it has really nice disc brakes on it I also own the cgo 800s which you will also see on their website the main difference between the two is the cgo 800s has big hydraulic shocks up front so that thing rides a lot more comfortably than this this rides very sporty and firm so on pathways like this it's great to ride on so that's the big difference between the two I really enjoy having both of them short trips if you want to go out to eat to somewhere near your house or even people use these to commute to work they are excellent for that plus the added security of the battery being locked in with the keys and you can have a passcode to actually ride the bike so these things can be ultra secure lightweight easy to charge in your garage and very easy to assemble so I will have a discount code Linked In the description below this is the third time I've worked with 10 ways I really enjoy their products 10 ways thank you for sponsoring the video now the wheels on the model 3 are 20 in The Wheels on the WRX are 19 in the big difference between them is these are fully forged wheels these 20-in wheels only weigh there's a minivan coming 100 mph around that turn now that's what I should you hear hitting the rumble strips dang got a G wagon now coming this is crazy back to the review these are forged 20-in Wheels they only weigh 21 lb these 19in wheels are cast Wheels they are not forged and really that just comes with the feel that you will have in your hands but this is a gorgeous this wheel I just God I can't stop looking at it the red brakes this is like a satin titanium finish wrapped in these sticky Penza tires I just love it now the model 3 Performance Wheels I'm like here's the thing these are plastic covers and the reason these are on here is for efficiency if you remove these it can be it's about a 5% difference in efficiency of the vehicle that's why they're on there uh the problem is they're very hard to remove well the old model 3 Performance didn't have these so that's why the car gets more range and actually in the real world is because of these wheel covers that they've developed so I think it's a good looking wheel that is a much better looking wheel I absolutely love it the other difference is the model 3 is a staggered setup so these are 235 width in the front and a 275 width in the rear now that's great for performance but over time you can't rotate the tires you're just going to get less life out of them because you can't rotate them like you can on the Square setup in the WRX now both of these vehicles have sport seats so the WRX has these beautiful ricaro seats sit in them and they're nice they have the suede along the dash here and then you also have the suede on the seats which keeps you in nicely I think they're well done I don't think they're over bolstered I love the red stitching to go with the ignition red on the exterior also for some reason this press car has the allseason mats you can take a look at those and then they've just gone ahead and stacked on top of the summer mats and there you can actually see the frame of the vehicle so so it's uh it's Bare Bones as they say and and this is a 3400 lb car that is a 4,000lb car so there's a 600 lb weight difference between the two of them again manual transmission so I'm going to be driving both of these to give you an idea of what the feel is and I understand there's like a 10 plus th000 difference cost between the two so I am acknowledging that but they are performance vehicles and some people will cross shop these so that's why I make the videos now on to the model 3 Performance on the interior Tesla has finally made changes so not only has Tesla made changes to the front of the vehicle so we have this front splitter here and then we have this intake here just to get more air flow around the car I also personally think that this air T not only does it throw air around the vehicle it also as you're turning will turn air into the brake calipers for brake Cooling and that's that so now Tesla has these cooled vegan leather cuz you know we're saving the planet cooled and heated vegan leather sports seats developed by Tesla a lot of companies will have their seats outsourced by companies like ricaro or Sparco Tesla develops these in-house and they are excellent I mean the comfort in them is great they're cooled they're sporty they're everything you'd want them to be and going into buying this car I was worried they were going to be too firm or not great for everyday Comfort I don't think that anymore I think they are excellent now this model 3 Performance also has several Drive modes so you can go into Dynamics and then you can go to insane standard or chill in Insane Mode your 0 to 60 time is 2.9 seconds and then for ride and handling you can go to standard or sport mode and you can also adjust the steering weight and as well as put it into track mode and and in track mode you can actually change the bias of the all-wheel drive systems you can have it like 80% in the back and 20% in the front so you can change all of that but this has 510 horsepower that has 271 horsepower so now you think okay that's $10,000 less but when you break down the cost per horsepower it actually comes a lot closer this having almost double the power and almost twice as fast to 60 that's where this car begins to look like more of a bargain as far as sound systems goes this this has a better sound system but the Harmon Cardon system in the Subaru is actually very solid and it's also very um it's not the quietest car to ride in what I love about the WRX and like the Evo mitubishi Evo these have the incredible visibility out of them and a big reason for that is because of this small little pillar here in this window that you can look out of you just feel like you're in a fishbowl you can kind of turn everywhere and there's no real blind spots so in terms of that the WRX is better in terms of visibility so that's been a great feature on the vehicle now the other part is the trunk back here so the trunk in this has 12.5 cubic feet of space and there's actually a little bit of space underneath here as well and that's a big thing about Teslas is they have that extra space in the sub trunk so the model 3 has 21 cubic feet of space in the rear and it's also an automatic trunk so you have storage on the sides and then they get that extra space from this huge compartment down here which is very usable just to keep things out of sight and not sliding around up here you can keep them down in that subc compartment hit this button right here and it all closes up the other thing we need to talk about is uh rear seat room so I will adjust this seat here and the driver's seat is power the passenger seat is manual so this is about where I would sit again I'm 6 ft tall it's about right so into the back of the car again economy car it has plenty of space back here you have USBC and usba power outlets they're not uh heated seats in the rear and you also have this fake carbon fiber look as well the TR also does not have an option for a sunroof and the reason for that is to cut weight manual transmission upgraded brakes uh different wheels and they've also changed the damping rates on this to give it a more sporty ride I actually don't think it's too firm at all I think the sportiness is perfect in this vehicle anyone buying one of these is going to want that performance feel feel and it does it without going too far so overall the model 3 has a lot more storage because there's also frun space there's subc compartment in the rear but that's really not what you're looking at these cars for you're looking at them for the performance so let's take these for a drive starting with the Tesla Model 3 Performance all right so I currently have the car in insane mode so it's most aggressive mode for the street let's give it a rip here so despite this being 4,000 lb which is heavy I mean I think a BMW M3 is right in that range but again the bm3 has the same amount of power as this it feels incredibly planted and athletic and these seats help a lot on Canyon roads like this to keep you locked in place where you need to be so you can just kind of cut and carve through these roads with immediate power in a way that I've never really felt in a vehicle you know I've driven the model S plaid but this just I mean it's on it's a really truly point and shoot and I like the size of this car a lot better just because it's more tossable and easier to balance Corners flat through all of these turns and the other thing is it's silent now that's a problem to some people cuz you want to have that feedback and feel of the manual transmission the exhaust the pops and crackles I get that I love that I used to own a BMW M2 and that was a favorite car I've ever owned it sounded incredible had perfect amount of power just made you feel good when driving it and you never had to use your turn signal cuz it was a BMW but this just carve it actually has too much power for a road like this but that's okay cuz you don't need to be flooring it and pushing the car to the Limit you just need to be enjoying the drive and now that they've finally fix the suspension on these to not be just stiff and it's it's comfortable I'm not even in the stiff setting I don't think the stiff setting is ever necessary for the street because the Comfort setting is perfect it's still sporty it's different than like the model 3 long range or the standard look at this hairpin turn right here it just digs in and then you go an ungodly amount of speed out of a turn now the other thing I feel is the the way the weight shifts back and forth on this too is pretty remarkable now the other thing I've noticed is the breake dust on this I I have a model y long range I've never even on my rivan I've never seen any breake dust I find myself using the brakes a lot more on this probably because it goes faster and these have track ready brake pads from the factory which is also new so they're really paying attention to how the drivers of the model 3 Performance are using their cars that's probably the most likely Tesla buyer the model 3 Performance buyer is the most likely to go to the track and they're paying attention to that just the forged wheels alone are a a signal of that but it just cuts and carves through these roads you know I find myself wrestling with the idea of you know do I miss the exhaust do I not there's no maintenance with this it's faster but then there's the feel of the exhaust and that's the problem a little bit with The Fringe people in the Tesla Community is in really the EV space is they get too locked in on oh you need to the yucky gas and things like that and that turns people you know us vers them and it just doesn't need to be that you can enjoy both of these do we have a NST about to jump off the bridge no not a nudist okay um um I got another WRX there you just don't have to be that the here's the thing is if you got a Tesla and that was the first car you ever cared about and all of a sudden you're like wow I like how fast it is I like putting different wheels and accessories on it and I like washing it and I just care for my car all the sudden I care that's how people enthusiasts are driving Civic SI Ferraris wrx's evos it's all the same we're all the same so it doesn't have to be us first them you just have to like what you drive and the model 3 Performance is not only is it a bargain it well it's a bargain if you buy it cash cuz after I looked at the financing sheet we saw that it was it's $70,000 after you finance it and pay taxes now I will pay it off early Dave Ramsey told me to do so but uh yeah this is just you know that we're in the drive mode insane and that's exactly what this is now I I don't think you're going to get bored of this being a one-trick pony over time with my model y that I've owned for 4 years I found myself just enjoying it more and more it's continually getting software updates there's been no maintenance with it and just the practicality and speed that it has and the way that it drives to me is unlike anything else and I didn't buy it because it's electric I bought it because it was a great vehicle that happened to be electric this is the same way the model 3 and Y are are amazing to me the S and X are cool but they need to be built a little bit better especially the S it's just uh you know I don't know why they can't figure that out but the the three and Y the build quality issues that's years in the past that's gone it's not an issue anymore and now what they've done with the performance model is incredible so now that we've done a little bit of a drive here on a Canyon Road with the model 3 Performance let's jump into the WRX manual transmission quad tip exhaust let's see how that is all right so now we're going to get in the WRX drive manual rev it up a little bit little boxer action let's take off [Music] now immediately you just feel you definitely feel that it's lighter you feel that in your hands and the wow the all-wheel drive you know I'm coming right out of that model 3 the all-wheel drive in this thing it's [Music] planted wow I I was a little nervous that the model 3 was just going to blow it out of the water but these tires the way they've changed the damping certainly not as fast not even close little pops out of the exhaust in the back oh my God have they done an incredible job with this see that's the difference right there that feedback the engagement you're involved with the vehicle it's just not perfect every time like the model 3 is perfect every time it'll do a 10sec quarter mile right off the factory showroom floor and this you have to shift perfectly and drive perfectly to get everything out of it and right now I'm thinking okay third or second second third do I need to down shift here I'm going to leave it in third and you can just push the car and really enjoy it and be more involved and that's that's like a thing when I drove the Mazda Miata you know I was like okay whatever people like these then you drive it and you're like oh uh yeah this is one of the most fun cars on Earth to drive and it's one of the least powerful sports cars I mean this thing is eating up really sharp turns brakes are handling this no problem huge six piston brakes yeah the TR is no joke it's a blast to drive and despite the that's the thing despite the massive numbers and the value of the model 3 Performance this is an excellent package Subaru still has it now I wish they had the STI still but the STI is stiff I mean it is a raw experience let's turn this thing around also this has a real e BR so I just had the urge in my head to rip it and do a U-turn here but this is a press vehicle and Subaru I won't do that Subaru thank you for by by the way Subaru thank you for uh giving me access to your Fleet I'm a longtime fan all right back up the hill we go it's just fun it doesn't have to be the fastest car ever it just has to be fun and engaging to drive they've done an excellent job with the wheel suspension and brakes the shift feels great it's only 34 00 lb and then you start to look uh to those of you you're like oh it's too expensive okay look what the look what the type bar costs look what the gr Corolla costs that's the closest to this look what the Integra Type S costs can't think straight they're $50,000 cars this is 419 42 and it has a ton of space I think it's 26 M per gallon on the highway zos sounds good oh man this is a blast to drive so man what what kind of what kind of decision am I going to make here uh do I do I go against Tesla nation in the cult or do I join uh The Vape nation in the Subarus I mean my goodness and people were like oh you know lesbians like Subaru okay sounds like they like the right vehicle this thing's amazing it it's very engaging to drive the infotainment system is whatever it does have wireless Apple carplay so if you want that it has it and that kind of takes away it's not bad it's just clunky Subaru is not known for building great technology but this is really impressive on a short Canyon Run cuz I'd been driving it through the city all week and it's been fun but this is where it really excels you know she's a runner she's a track star this is such a blast to drive so if you're interested in a Subaru WR XTR I think they're on inventory on Lots they're not going to price gouge you like with the typ r you could probably get a good deal on one you have a huge aftermarket for it but really it doesn't need much the TR is an incredible vehicle so what do I like more honest to God I don't even know I don't know why I would come to a conclusion on this they're they're totally different and really both really fun the drive the WRX is more engaging because you're interacting with the gearbox you can't change the drive modes or steering weight or anything like that or suspension like you can on the model 3 so you can't do any of that but overall it's just a really raw refreshing experience that's hard to get these days especially with a technologically advanced car like the model 3 Performance the steering wheel is great the shifter is exactly where it needs to be it has a manual real life e bra that you can touch you don't have to go that stupid sound this has surprised me and I'm happy that I drove them right back to back you can definitely feel the weight in the model 3 Performance it weighs more but it's remarkably fast and comfortable it's more comfortable than this so it just kind of depends what you not want you know if you're going to be going on your work commute every day in a vehicle you're probably going to want to be in the model 3 Performance I just wouldn't want to be driving a manual every day they offer these in the CVT but the manual is so good that's what I would get if you know if you work from home you want something that's really fast and fun you want to save $144,000 over that and it's still fairly efficient this is excellent so if you're going to get a WRX I say go with the TR it's the driver focused one it's the cool one that's what the cool kids are driving I think I don't know I have to ask one but um yeah this was an amazing experience thank you to tenway for sponsoring the video again their link will be in the descript description if you want to buy one of their ebikes now if you want to see Subaru's electric vehicle you can click this video right here where my re where I review the Subaru suterra which is a fully electric Subaru signing off
