Tesla Cybertruck: HUGE Updates and Changes 2021

[Applause] unveiled for the first time back in november 2019 was the tesla cyber truck welcome to the cybertruck unveil the cyberpunk inspired pointy angular tesla cyber truck hasn't been released yet four months into 2021 as the product is going through some final design tweaks and upgrades before hitting the market welcome to smartsense in today's video we are going to dive into all the latest news about tesla's cyber truck estimated release date new changes upgrades and the real purpose behind all these changes which i'll get to at the end of this video ceo and owner of the company elon musk has been dropping some hints regarding design changes on twitter while replying to his twitter fans the final design update was previously supposed to come out at the end of 2020 which unfortunately didn't happen as planned the pre-order's number has now surpassed half a million and increasing most of the tesla cyber truck customer base lies locally in the u.s market but it has managed to attract some audience in the chinese market as well in a tweet earlier this month elon musk revealed he is hoping to come out with the company's quarter year report which means that we can expect it to hit production lines by late 2021 but looking at the anticipation shown by tesla enthusiasts on twitter people are seeming to become more and more impatient for the grand release this is also quite evident from the pre-orders that tesla has received for the cyber truck starting from after its unveiling in late 2019 the starting price of the tesla cyber truck was announced to be 39 000 with no compromise over functionality to be specific the production of a two engine all-wheel drive version is scheduled to go into production by the end of 2021 while the single engine rear wheel drive version is supposed to hit production lines by late 2022 now getting into the changes and upgrades let us start with the cyber trucks armor glass which took a pretty hard blow during the durability test demo during the unveiling event in 2019 this was a huge setback as elon musk had previously claimed the glass to be indestructible sure yeah oh my god well maybe that was a little too hard [Laughter] later after the event the reason for the glass breaking was explained to me that the sledgehammer blows to the truck door while demonstrating the strength of the exoskeleton cracked the base of the glass which is embedded into the exoskeleton and that resulted in the glass cracking instead of metallic balls bouncing off it during the glass durability demo either way this mishap exposed a flaw which certainly needed some deliberation which the company did elon musk posted a tweet on november 23 2019 which included a video demo of glass durability and mentioned they will be making improvements to the windows before the vehicle goes into final production in april 2020 musk announced an almost 3 percent decrease in the overall size of the vehicle elon musk explained that this size reduction decision was made because the original dimensions of the cyber truck were too big for letting it fit into a standard parking space but he has assured his concerned fans and customers that this downsizing is not going to have any significant effect on the specs and storage capacity elon musk also announced the installment of all new air suspensions for the tesla cyber truck which were exclusively designed for this vehicle and are not a re-rendering of tesla model x or s's suspension system the tesla cybertruck team had been working on increasing the dynamic air suspension to make the truck better for off-roading in addition to this tesla's battery packs are water sealed so no damage can happen to the batteries from water thanks to this feature you won't need to worry about exhaust pipes filling up with water since evs don't have those elon said that the final version will be able to handle fairly high levels of water with no problem and that it will even float for a while around that same time musk again took to twitter to announce that they will also be producing solar paneled roofs to charge the batteries on its own replying to a twitter fan that was asking for a teaser to the updated version of the cyber truck earlier this month elon musk said that there will be no door handles in the final version whereas previously the cyber truck was declared to have self-presenting door handles as used in the tesla model s which lay flat against the door surface when they are not needed and pop up if you push against the door handle or automatically as the driver would be approaching but apparently this idea has been changed for the cyber truck getting rid of the tesla model s's self-presenting door handle is a win for tesla as many of the customers were disappointed by them due to their tricky usage and not so great performance especially in freezing weather among other updates to the structure the window sills have been lowered a few inches and the center line has been made more leveled as well now some people may be concerned about shrinking the size of the truck by three percent which might result in decreasing the original size of the bed and room inside but knowing the overachieving track record of elon's team it is likely that the overall storage specs are to remain unaltered and size changes to be made entirely across the trunk the steel alloy exoskeleton of the truck shows incredible durability and is dominantly considered to be a safe driver for its passengers with the ability to recoil most of the impact in the case of low speed or even high speed crashes preventing any significant damage to the passengers however modern vehicles are also needed to be safe for pedestrians to some extent given the possibility of a crash and looking at the pointy sharp and angular body of the cyber truck there is a strong possibility that it might not get approved to be released especially in europe it is most likely to fail the european safety certificate and would need some modifications to its shape and structure before getting approved according to some safety expert so maybe we can expect some tweaking to the shape of the chassis as well but if this is to happen the changes will most likely be applied to a version of the truck that will be specifically designed for europe only so at the beginning of the video we talked about how there's a bigger purpose for all the cyber truck changes overall the changes to the final version are going to be an increment to the specs of the vehicle and will make it more cost efficient to make it affordable tesla is not just making an average truck the goal is to make the cyber truck a leader in the pickup segment for functionality and
