Terraria Pumpkin Moon Step By Step AFK Farm | Terraria How To | HappyDays

creating AFK farms is a great way to test your building skills and have a lot of fun getting tons of loot from the various bosses and events in Terraria today's design is easy to set up and use and most importantly will earn you tons of loot howls go and crew this is happy days and today I'm going to show you step-by-step how to make an easy and awesome afk pumpkin moon farm in Terraria this farm works great with pre pumpkin moon equipment and only gets better as you collect the loot from this event as a nice side note this farm can also be used for the pirate invasion the first thing to do is find a nice flat area around the center of your world the reason for this is so we can set up a nice wide area to base our farm on without having to spend ages mining out hills that would reduce the effectiveness of our farm as always when making an afk farm I like to mark a little area in the center of the farm with a few blocks and torches and then remove the trees nearby this is super useful when measuring out the dimensions or your phone as you have a set place to measure from once you finish destroying nature measure 84 blocks to the left and right of our center platform and mark each end of the farm with a few blocks and torches so why 84 blocks will terraria actually has a maximum distance that mobs can spawn off screen from your character and 84 blocks is that magic number although to be safe I recommend you go ninety or a hundred blocks wide just to provide a little bit of a buffer now it's time to have some explosive fun grab some dynamite and blast out the area to the sides of your center platform I'll give you the exact measurements soon but at this stage focus on going wider than deeper once you finish that the next step is to measure 47 blocks below the center platform and mark it with a few blocks and torches again this is the maximum distance mobs can spawn below your character next you want to mine 47 blocks down from the left and right sides from your farm and then remove all blocks in the area between them sticky bombs can help at this stage as dynamite might be a little too much and now you've got a huge empty rectangle underneath your phone we're gonna fill it back in and I know right I just told you to mine all this out and nothing telling you to fill it back in and I know it sounds crazy and I totally get it but I explain why this step is critical for an a okay phone I'll put an image on screen to help you visualize why we have to do this step for our afk farm to work correctly generally to various pawns little pockets of open areas under the ground that we can't see from the surface but just because we can't see it doesn't mean that the mobs can't spawning it however so if a mob can't teleport or pace through blocks it gets trapped and because terraria has a maximum amount of mobs that can spawn around the player less mobs will actually spawn in your farm so to avoid that we've got to get rid of all the open areas underneath us thankfully I recently discovered that mobs can spawn in front of player placed walls so rather than having to fill in the whole area with blocks we can rapidly play something easy to get tons of like wooden walls under your farm with the bottom half of our farm all filled in we can now design the base of our farm you can have fun designing this however you like I like to use pearl stone bricks and place torches every 7 blocks or so to help light up the farm as this is a surface farm we'll be filling in the base with lava to block mobs spawning anywhere on the ground if you didn't know mobs can't spawn inside of lava so this is an easy way to block mobs spawning on the ground if you don't have a flying mount you could fill in the lava as your last step and don't forget to keep the center of your farm marked for later next we'll be designing the invulnerability machine for our afk farm from the centre of your farm build a box about three blocks in the air that is five blocks wide and six blocks tall place the teleporter in the base of the box and a slime statue on top of the teleporter I like to place a switch for the teleporter next to the slime statue to keep things tidy I'd also like to acknowledge there's another invincibility method that uses to target dummies and the slimy saddle make an 8 block high box and use the saddle to bounce on dummies for invincibility the reason I don't use this method is the fact I love to watch my afk farms in action it's half the fun of making them for me but they're bouncing from the slimy saddle and the screen movement makes it unpleasant to watch but I wanted to show you so you've got the option now we're going to design the mob grinder part of this farm build three blocks to the left and right of your slime box and then 40 blocks up into the air this will be the death zone that all the pumpkin mobs will fall into when the farm is active next we need to make an area where the mobs can actually spawn during the event so from top of your farm build 22 blocks to the left and right and finally another six blocks up from the sides connect the left and right sides at the top and you should be left with what looks like a large T shape we're going to add lava to the roof of our farm so mobs can't spawn on the top so add one block to each side and fill it with lava now we'll be adding some traps to our farm to help deal damage to the mobs speed traps have the highest damage out of all the traps so I recommend you use them place a roll speed traps 9 blocks above your slime box then stack more rows of speed traps on top of each other your temple will have more speed traps if you're playing on a larger world I recommend 6 to 9 rows of spear traps so if you only have 21 traps make seven rows of three activating the speed traps is really easy simply wire them all with one color and place actuators on them then connect to switch and flick it you'll activate all the speed traps in a single hit and then remove the wire and actuators so why are these effectively I recommend alternating between red blue and green wire so we can time each row of traps to fire one after the other place one second timers in the base of your farm and connect them like I've shown on screen to be fair you can wire it however you like but it's good practice to keep your wiring as tidy as possible if you're new to wiring and you're building along with this video a great idea would be to pause the video when I'm flashing the finish wiring on screen so you can easily just copy the wire layout as you get more confident with wire you can make your own designs with it before we go any further this is a good time to build a little spawn box next to your farm most importantly this will have the second teleporter so you can get into the farm but you can also have a bed some loot boxes a place to put banners and anything else you like next we'll make a switch so you can turn mob spawning on and off in your farm whenever you like simply place a row of blocks in the top part of your tea section of your farm and place actuators on them the reason we do this is due to the fact that mobs can spawn in an area and this is three blocks high of empty space send a wire down to the switch next to your slime box so you can turn it off and on from your invincibility machine I also like to place a torch in the wiring so you can see if it's on or off without having to fly up there we're almost ready for the pumpkin moon now just a few final steps connect your slime statue to any of the timers so it'll be active when your traps are I like to put some loot chests around the slime box I can fill them up while your farm is working without having to leave the box you can then decorate the rest of your farm however you'd like I like to put walls in the trap section so I can play some torches and display items but you can leave it empty if you want just make sure you don't place walls in the top part of your farm as it will block the mobs from spawning one last thing I discovered while testing this farm is if you add a row of blocks to the top of the T and actuate them it can increase the amount of mobs that spawn during the pumpkin moon leave the actuators on and wire them to any of your timers so mobs can fall through during the event at this stage you can technically use the farm and whilst spear traps will kill the mobs we can make this farm so much faster by adding some ins to it I'll show two sets of equipment on screen now the left side is equipment you'd have before fighting your first pumpkin moon and the right side is what you'd upgrade to as you farm the event a full set of tiki armor and either a pirate or a pygmy stuff is all you need to get started pirates and pygmies are great because they can't get outside of the farm or hurt your slimes for accessories get minion boosting items such as the Hercules beetle and pygmy necklace also if you didn't know summons can only benefit from damage boosting so reforge all of your accessories to menacing and your weapons to ruthless for maximum damage finally grab some of your favorite buff potions I recommend raft summoning and heart reach and also a little food for some more damage so how do we actually use this farm well the first thing we need to do is get our invincibility trick started the best way to reliably get this trick to work is log out of your world and log back in and quickly get in the slime box and turn the statue on once the slimes are hitting you activate all of your buffs and summon your minions in the base of the trap use your pumpkin moon medallion and flick the switch to actuate the blocks at the top of your farm to turn on mob spawning and watch the carnage begin the great thing about using summons is your urn banners from the event make sure to place the banners in your spawn point as they boost the damage or summons due against each of the mob types when morning would start to spawn you can see they fall on top of your character but because the slimes are constantly hitting us we don't take any damage from it the same thing happens on wave 7 when pumpkins begin to spawn they will occasionally float over your character but cannot hit you because the slimes have ranked number one when wave 15 kicks in your screen will become a massive damage numbers and crazy pumpkins floating all over the place you'll also start to see heaps of loot dropping from all the pumpkins and Morningwood as loot chances are at its maximum in wave 15 which is why it's a great idea to have some chests nearby to put all of the loot in if I open up the mini-map you can even get a sneak peek into how the farm works at the top with the morning wood and pumpkin icons appearing at the top of the farm and dropping down into the trap zone at the end of the night the pumpkins will fly away it takes a few moments for the mobster disappear so do your best to turn the chaps off and sort your loot out as you can see from the chest you will get every drop from this event as well as a nice amount of money as a little bonus tip you could even wire up a king or queen statue to spawn in an NPC after each event to easily sell the loot without leaving your safety box but I'll leave that option completely up to you lastly this farm also works really well in expert mode but because slime damage is increased in hard mode in expert you'll need to add a blue slime banner a heart Lantern campfire and honey in your safety box to help keep your health up for your six accessories lot I recommend a warding worm scarf to further reduce damage and help keep you alive and there you have it folks an easy to build and highly efficient pumpkin Moon farm that also works on the pirate
