this video is made in partnership with ESR the last time I used an Android phone as my daily driver was 10 years ago I upgraded from the Note 2 to the Note 3 and it was one of my favorite phones ever see my love for Tech started with cell phones I love exploring the features of a new phone testing out the new upgrades discovering lesser known features and comparing it to phones that I know are out there but admittedly I've been stagnant when it comes to this since I switched to the iPhone so to fix that I got the s24 ultra to use as my daily driver for 30 days and I'm here to talk about my onewe experience with it the things that stood out to me as an Apple user and how this whole switched to Samsung was for me and I even got the Galaxy watch 6 classic to replace my Apple watch Ultra I felt like this was necessary so that I can really give Samsung a shot I pre-ordered the s24 ultra from Best Buy and I got a $150 gift card I got a 512 gig model for the price of a 256 gig model which was really nice I love that there's an extra incentive to actually pre-order the phone so right off the bat I saved $270 if you watched my day in the life video I unboxed the s24 ultra and the Galaxy watch 6 classic there I got the watch and silver because I love that it looks more like a traditional watch and I got the s24 ultra in the titanium gray color so I can compare it with my iPhone my initial reaction to seeing the s24 ultra in person was one it's a really beautiful phone like wow it's probably the best looking phone I've ever seen it just feels so premium in hand and number two it's a big phone but unlike the 15 Pro Max I feel like this phone is Big with a purpose the color of the titanium gray has more of a yellow champagne tint to it compared to the iPhone it kind of leans more towards a very light gold while the iPhone is more like silver the less rounded edges the matte frame the flatter display makes it look like a 2024 or phone and the iPhone 15 Pro looks a bit stale next to it in my opinion although these changes are very nice visually you do give up a bit when it comes to ergonomics the sides are less rounded so you kind of give up some comfort there and the top and bottom portion of the s24 ultra has a very hard transition so it doesn't feel great when you're holding it for an extended period of time they could have easily made this a better experience by rounding the edges just a little bit kind of like what Apple did to the iPhone 15 Pros but it is what it is but if you're planning on using a phone case like me then this shouldn't be a big deal as a big fan of Mag safe I am bummed that the s24 ultra doesn't have G2 but thankfully ESR has some high quality cases for the s24 ultra and some of them are mag safe compatible there's the Boost kickstand case which is a clear case perfect for showing off the color of your new phone especially since it's a yellowing resistant case and it's also scratch resistant there's also the armor kickstand case if you need the extra protection it's a two-part case that comes with two front covers one with a screen protector and one without and it has included lens protectors for your cameras giving it full 360° protection if you want ma safe compatibility the hybrid classic case is a great option although it doesn't have a kickstand you can pair it with an ESR wallet stand which makes it an awesome everyday carry setup but if you want a good Do-it all case the Boost Flex stand case gives you the mag sa compatibility the built-in kickstand and it has shock absorbing Corners to protect your phone from drops and bumps making it my personal favorite if you are interested in any of the products I mentioned you can check them out by using the links below setting up the s24 ultra was a pretty smooth experience for me I used smart switch to transfer my contacts messages and apps for my iPhone and although it took over 2 hours or something it worked pretty well for me just be aware that if you're planning on transferring your photos or videos it could take a lot longer than that I also had a pleasant experience transferring my eim and pairing the Galaxy watch 6 classic so there's nothing much to say there and I think that's a good thing I was very excited to switch to the s24 ultra but I must admit I felt pretty overwhelmed at first after using an iPhone for 10 years you get used to a certain way of doing things and trying to unlearn my iOS habits and relearn basic things with one UI was a bit of a struggle it wasn't difficult or anything like that but my efficiency definitely dropped down quite a bit and that can be very frustrating especially when you're trying to work for starters the keyboard layout is different so I kept making mistakes I had to look at the swipe down menu icons at least twice just to be sure I'm triggering the right thing and the default app icons kind of just Blended together I felt like there wasn't enough distinction between each one and there are a ton of apps the settings page was also kind of confusing one thing I can point out is on iOS when you turn on a setting with a toggle option usually you get more options below it and it's pretty consistent that way on one ui6 when you toggle a setting you can get more options inside of the thing you just turn on but you have to tap on that specific setting those are just some examples none of them are a big deal in my opinion I consider them the pain of going out of your comfort zone I just wanted to point those out because if you switch you'll experience a lot of those little differences that can lead to frustration at times but stick with it you'll get used to it eventually and the s24 ultra might just be worth the struggle for me I started to feel more comfortable around the third or fourth day watching YouTube videos definitely helped and I'll leave a link to the playlist I made of the videos I watched to help set up my s24 ultra most of the things I encountered that was annoying or frustrating I was able to address by tweaking my phone settings and that's one of the biggest drw for using an Android phone you get a ton of customizability and you can absolutely go crazy with it but personally I chose to use the phone with only basic tweaks especially during this first week to see how the phone feels with little adjustments changing settings like the navigation bar from buttons to gestures changing the edge panel size location and apps and even the color of the swipe down menu buttons to make them pop out more when they are on I'm definitely excited to dive deeper into customization but honestly speaking these little changes were enough for me to feel right at home since making those changes using the s24 ultra as my daily driver has been a pure joy it's hard not to love because it's such a great phone it has a beautiful display that really stands out it makes any task more enjoyable texting scrolling on social media watching content and even working the reflective coding that they added definitely makes a huge difference in reducing glare and Reflections in any scenario here's how it compares to the iPhone 15 Pro I did notice though that despite having 2600 nits of peak brightness the iPhone 15 PR 2,000 nits of peak brightness is a tad brigher people are saying it's probably because of the reflective coating which makes sense but overall I think that this trade-off is worth it because the s24 ultra is still pretty bright in fact it's so bright that I even find myself turning on the extra dim mode at night for a more pleasant viewing experience one reason why you might get the s24 ultra over other phones is the S Pen I haven't used it as much as I would have liked but it's more my fault than the S Pen's fault there are too many Tech products that are coming out so it's kind of hard to keep up but in the times I've used it I really enjoyed using the spin it was so refreshing being able to interact with my phone in a different way and I can definitely see myself really utilizing this moving forward I usually write down my to-do list and weekly planning as it helps me reinforce what I need to do and the ability to write notes anywhere I think would be a game changer I will definitely be more intentional in trying to use it for the next couple of weeks so I can properly share share more of my thoughts then the Samsung AI features are pretty cool Circle to search has been the one I've used the most this past week even though it's not really AI it's basically Google image search built in which is still pretty cool but it's not AI the object eraser can be very useful although it can be hit or miss sometimes you have to redo your selection to get a better result but it's cool that you have that ability in a pinch I'm really looking forward to testing out the transcribe feature and the chat assist feature and especially the live Translate feature I think that can be really cool especially when traveling what I was really excited to test out were the cameras I took some Ender photos of different things in my space just to really get a feel of the camera and so far I'm really impressed I love that you have different focal lengths so you get a ton of flexibility when shooting and overall I'm pretty happy with the photos and videos that I capture using this phone just take a look at some of the photos I took I am pretty pleased with the results of most of these shots I do need to tweak the camera settings so that I can optimize it more for my style of shooting like for example the auto HDR feature I feel like is a bit too aggressive at times so I definitely need to dive deeper into the camera assistant app and just play with it a bit more I heard about the shutter lag issues and I don't think it's a big deal with the s24 ultra but maybe I'll find out more of an issue when I start to shoot outside which I'll be doing for my 30-day review I'll be comparing the photos and videos of the s24 ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro and kind of give my recommendations for iPhone users who are thinking of switching when it comes to battery life as an Apple user I am very happy I can easily last a full day no problem and I can even make it last at least a portion of the next day and this is despite the fact that I've been playing with the phone quite a bit so my usage is higher than usual so I can only imagine how much better it will be when I'm back to my regular usage I also love that you can charge up to 45 watts and get 50% within 30 minutes and that is going to be so clutch I found the combination of the unders screen fingerprint reader and the face recognition to be pretty reliable I did have some issues with the fingerprint at first but after rescanning my fingerprints at an angle in the same way that I would unlock it when I'm holding my phone I have had a much better experience with it and since I have it paired with the Galaxy watch 6 I get extend unlock which has also been really great for the sake of not making this video super super long I wanted to do a lightning round so I could give you some of the things that stood out to me and some of the things that I feel like it's missing I love that you can adjust your alarm clock snooze interval there's modes and focus it's like shortcuts and focus modes on iOS there's the multi- window feature which you can access by swiping two fingers from the bottom which is very useful for productivity tasks there's a notification history I don't know about you guys but I have a habit of clearing the notifications before I even see them and so this is a good way for me to look back on the notifications that I accidentally cleared and there are a few things that that I don't like about the s24 ultra first thing as a lefty the power button and volume button placement is really not ideal you can get very confusing especially since they're both on the right side so sometimes I'll press the power button when I mean to press the volume down and vice versa I find it odd that there's a separate app for voicemail I think that clutters things up it's a pretty heavy phone it's a lot heavier than my iPhone 15 Pro I am getting used to it but it is a heavy phone and last last but especially not the least I miss iMessage so much but good thing I downloaded an app on my Mac called bluebubble that has really helped me survive my first week with the s24 ultra and I'll talk more about that in the 30-day review this is my initial experience with the s24 ultra as an iPhone user for over 10 years it's honestly such an amazing phone and I'm curious how my opinions and thoughts would change at the 30-day Mark if you have specific questions testing and comparison that you want me to include in the 30-day review let me know and if you made it this far in the video type galaxy in the comments below I hope you guys enjoyed this video if you did please give it a thumbs up if you loved it subscribe to the channel thank you guys for watching and I'll see you in the next one bye
