foreign [Music] welcome to another video and today we're going to be getting this 1989 ford mustang 5.0 back up and running it's uh apparently got 500 horsepower it's got a blower on it and this guy's let it sit for i believe about 10 years maybe longer was last inspected in o4 i don't think it'll need too much and then we're going to take it over my buddy's shop put it on the dyno maybe take it to the drag strip have some fun with it he basically told me get it running beat the balls off and have fun and then he wants to sell it which i'm actually interested in it because it is pretty darn clean looking and i used to have an 86 four-eyed uh so i might even might even try buying this guy often i mean look at the bottom of these doors too every mustang's always rotted out these ones ain't bad and thankfully it is a five speed [Applause] [Music] see this girl's got under the hood all right so quick look under the hood we got a small block ford with aluminum heads and gt40 intake a vortec blower on it which is a v1 non-intercooled blows right into the intake uh you got egr block off plate and the cooler's been blocked off too and green top 42 pound injectors if you can see those the headers shorties look like tension 5 8 maybe inch and three quarter msd ignition box msd coil aluminum radiator electric fan and adjustable front struts the heater core has been blocked off no no pcb just a breather on here and no ac and it's got the delete pulley and all that for i guess this he's probably had the smog pump on him in 89 too oh yeah looks pretty tight let's see if she runs all right fuel pumps running we got three quarter tank of fuel i hear the solenoid clicking um but actually somebody bypassed this can see our positive cable coming from the battery it's all on one terminal and running over to the starter and the other post does have a wire leading to the starter two so let's see if that's getting 12 volts [Music] yeah there we go it's getting 12 volts but look at this look how much the voltage goes down when you hit it probably a locked up starter [Music] um yeah starters locked up for sure let's see if we can go get a starter for this thing in advance all right third store later ended up getting one napa had it this is a mini starter i have like a later 5.0 gotta love old easy to replace starters oh yeah no proud metal um i think the clutch is locked up from sitting oh yeah yeah it goes into gear with it off i wonder if i just push the clutch in and try starting it oh there it goes it broke loose that'll go into gear yep let's hear that clutch for the first time oh yeah you hear all that rust on there i don't know if you guys can hear that all right rear brakes just locked up on me pull off here i didn't make it very far it's actually the front brakes locking up too so it must be the master cylinder you know this thing actually has a line lock for the brakes which maybe i bumped [Music] oh look at that it was just the line lock i bumped that is funny rookie move i feel like that's not a great spot for it though huh let's try it out at this stop sign so if i push the switch if i press the brakes oh yeah now they stay on all right interesting good stuff good to know that's one way to clean the rust off the front rotors a little bit great wall of water oh stop it i knew i should have left this damn thing running are you kidding me i get somebody behind me too this guy's behind me who wants to come in yeah buddy paint looks nice anyway after a quick rinse i don't even see any water under the darn hood so the msd box seemed to uh taking a little bit of water probably wasn't a good idea to go through the great wall of water huh there we go so [Music] [Music] uh so it needs a rear brake job these are all oil soaked and the slave cylinders pissing out no smell of gear oil in here though definitely not the axle seals leaking it's got these global west lower control arms on it it's got newer front calipers brand new pads and most of that rust has come off these rotors uh let's see if i got some bushings for these uh sway bar links but yeah looking real clean in here otherwise check that out i'm about all this exposed wiring maybe put some shields up in here should have something in here keep all these old bushings look at that boom these will work [Music] [Music] all right check this out the air filter's right in the wheel well this might be right uh why it didn't start when i was in the car wash i bet you just got the the rocker blaster or whatever probably shot water all over the air filter makes sense doesn't look like any leakage on the passenger side and i'll just leave the other side for now it's only like 20 30 parts to replace the slaves shoes and well you could do the drums too uh but i think most guys would want to swap this over to disc anyway and it looks like these are aftermarket axles these don't look factory to me it's definitely got a posi in it which feels healthy and mine is the walk underneath aluminum driveshaft again if i said that earlier it's got the subframe connectors no rot or rust on these floor pans at all um certainly not perfect under here but i don't see any oil leaks or anything it's pretty darn clean for the most part [Applause] let's try out the front brake line lock on this thing for anyone not familiar the only purpose of this is to heat the tires up for drag racing so you know you push it once apply the brakes and then you can spin the tires without trying to hold the brake too so just uh heat them up a little bit [Music] yeah it worked pretty well because burnout's good it's fun all the way down in third gear until i dropped it in the fourth these are nice and sticky now all right this horn's got to go you breathe on it and it goes and it keeps randomly going off so it's [Music] just attach that perfect [Music] [Music] [Applause] huh all right guys this is it we're going to throw it this thing on the dyno see what she does i'm here with long time old friend carl pritz from uh kp tuning this is his business over in southampton uh what do you do over here carl uh i do a lot of custom calibration and dino tuning for a lot of late model gm anymore drag cars street cars still do a lot of import stuff that's what it came from but uh in the day if you have a standalone ecu and a race car or something like that we can take care of it if you have a late model gm and you want some more pep in your step we can take care of it the only thing i don't do is factory ford ecu stuff so this right here we're here just to dyno it see what it does and try to get chris some horsepower numbers and hopefully make this thing look a little bit better than it already does how many cars have you put on here without any tuning hour is this like a common thing or is this um i have had one car on here so far that i was not tuning the reason why this one is on here is because we've been friends for a long time unfortunately and fortunately i'm so busy i usually don't have time to just dyno a car sometimes i'll do a before pole before i do your tune so you can get to see before and afters but most of the time somebody's bringing something in i have an appointment um i'm usually booked a month to two months out at a time so time is very precious alrighty and i'm going to drop a link down below to his facebook page if you guys want to check that out he's got some other videos i'll put links there too this guy's got a big turbo mustang that makes ridiculous numbers any any guesses put your guess down below in the comments before we run it i'm going to say 390. what was your guess i'm going 3.85 385. all right let's see what she can do he's got it hooked up to his dynajet 224x wide bend in the tailpipe here [Applause] third gear pool i'm gonna video the wide van see what it does what'd you show on the wide band there was like 13s into maybe high 12's like i would want it down a good bit more than that okay so that first pull in the third gear max power 400 max torque 384 we're like 38 steady that's 40 that's a 45 there oh there you go uh you are like 53 there um [Music] little extra fuel we did a fourth gear pull and we put 431 441 max torque now what do you think pretty decent that's good do you think that's the stock 302 or what that's something but i mean it's got heads on it so it runs pretty good yeah i'll look back at the phone and see what the boost was and then go there [Music] all right last pull we're gonna do another fourth gear 434 horsepower 444 foot pound of torque not bad well that was a lot of fun guys thanks again carl for throwing this on the dyno now i planned on bringing this to the drag strip tonight over to adco for test and tune but unfortunately due to inclement weather they're closed tonight and tomorrow and i actually have somebody coming to look at this tomorrow evening so against my better judgment i was gonna take it to the drag strip before he shows up and just try to run a few times uh you know not beat on too hard but but see what she was capable of but unfortunately you know i can't do that because of the rain so we'll see if it sells tomorrow and then maybe we'll still get an opportunity to do that or not i'm not sure but uh if you have a guess of what you think this car might be worth or what it's going to sell for on facebook marketplace in i'm in pennsylvania eastern pennsylvania drop a comment down below i'd be curious what your guess is let's see who can get closest and then i'll say seven days after posting this video i will put in exactly what it's sold for that's assuming it sells tomorrow but the guy's pretty serious he's actually driving down from massachusetts anyway let's fast forward to tomorrow now all right guys well it's sold
