Supercharge your Stock Surron X Brakes! AFFORDABLE MOD

so this isn't the first time i made videos on brakes on the xuron in the past i've posted uh how to improve your stock brakes using shimano pads also using bigger rotors to maximize your stock brakes and also changing out the whole system completely to different brakes which cost a lot more money obviously but recently i found something that cost in between those two options but works extremely well with this new setup that i tested out i'm very sure no one's going to be complaining about the brake power now what i realized after riding the surround for a year is that the actually the stock brakes are not that bad in terms of the braking power but the problem is the lever on the stock serum is just super weak and the modulation on the lever is terrible so after a long steep defense a lot of my friends were left with very exhausted fingers so that got me thinking if the stock calipers are pretty good and the levers are what's at fault here why don't i just upgrade only the levers and see what happens now buying the levers on their own it's much cheaper than buying the complete kit i took one of the saurons with stock brakes to shop and i swapped out the stock brakes with shimano xt levers [Music] this time instead of shimano brake pads i'm going to be trying out the vesra brake pad for this build we decided to change out the brake cable to shimano brake cable shimano brake cable has a better performance when it comes to heat but this is optional you don't have to do it but if you want a better performance in the high heat situations i highly recommend it [Music] [Music] the most difficult part of this procedure is changing out the inserts and the brake hose and bleeding the brakes which i'm really bad at so i'm letting the professionals do the work here [Music] [Music] with these levers on the handlebars it looks so much better and these levers will let you use just one finger without getting tired [Music] but i will say the shimano lever and the stock caliper combination it's not as good as something like this all right so since my last video i've upgraded the brakes on my bike so i'm running the shimano saint levers with the magura mt5 caliper this is super powerful this is i can guarantee there's nothing more powerful than this combination but of course the downside of this combination it's very expensive if you buy them each separately they're even more expensive than getting a complete set so i think the shimano lever and the stock surround caliper combination it's the best value and it will give you the most performance for the price so the run right here is running the stock caliper and mine over there is running the magura caliper and i've ridden both of them on the trail and while the stock caliper are not as powerful as the mt5 calipers this this setup right here i think it's almost 90 there it's it's not that far behind from the the magura setup for that it's an incredible value and i've been recommending everybody to get one because you just need to buy levers right and if you want to go the extra mile you can get the shimano brake hose like i did but i don't think it's the hoses will make a huge difference just when the brakes run really hot now if i were to start over and go back to the day one of my sauron build i would have definitely skipped out on the new brake setup like the new brake system and just upgrade the levers because now that i see the performance of these brakes on my friends saron this is way enough this is enough for anybody so if you're looking for the most amount of performance for the least amount of money i definitely recommend upgrading just the levers and if you do a lot of a lot of downhill i think you should upgrade the brake hose as well even with the brake hose it's half the price as getting a completely new brake system so i think it's worth it all right thanks for checking out this video and hopefully i can share more stuff as i learn more about this sarong [Music] you
