we have an estimate coin right here a lot of the low mintage and key day coins our estimates let's just go ahead and flip this and see what we have here in three two one hello everybody and welcome back to coin quest one quest of course is the series where I take $100 boxes of nickels like this one right here go through the rolls and look for interesting and valuable coins that I can use to fill in these collection books right here now if you haven't already seen the previous episode I highly recommend you check that out I will put a card up here so you can click on that and watch that first basically we got into the first half of this box and found a ton of amazing coins and got tons of coins into the collection so in today's episode we're gonna be going through the second half of this box so without any further ado I figured we'd go ahead and just jump in right where we left off on the last episode so when we went through that first half of the box we looked at all of the enders right away which is any coin that's old or interesting showing up on the end of the roll unfortunately since we've already gone through all of them we don't have any to go through in this episode so I'm just going to go ahead and pick a roll at random I've grabbed five at random out of the box here I like to go through these in the groups of five and I'm just gonna open this one on camera first just because I like to open rolls live in the beginning of the episode just to see what we have so looking at this one together here guys it doesn't look like we have any it doesn't look like we have any war nickels or anything like that because I'm not seeing any darkness on that any of those edges we're just gonna go through these just real quickly here and see if this first roll is going to have anything for us and if it's anything like the last few rolls in this box guys hopefully it will have some pretty cool coins for us although I'm not seeing anything sticking out at this moment now I do have to keep in mind that I want to look for 2009's because that is a pretty difficult year to find there's a 2008 right there it's pretty close on that one but I'm not seeing anything like particularly old right now unfortunately so I think we're just going to go ahead and open up another one at this point and see if we can get lucky on the second roll so we got another sealed roll right here see if we're gonna get anything on this one so like I said guys looking for war nickels basically what I'm looking for is a darker edge sometimes you can pull nickels out by the just because they look different and you know I've had it and them come out either as war nickels or as buffalo nickels but yeah that's kind of something that we're looking for when we look through these roles now it looks like you might have an older one right here looks like the date on that one is 1959 so that is our first old coin out of the second half of this box 259 Denver and let's see if we have any more in here hopefully we do that is the youngest coin that we keep just in case you're new I keep anything before 1960 that is just kind of an arbitrary cutoff date that I have selected some people keep before 1964 it really just depends on at your preference so I don't see anything particularly old in these coins either once again checking all of those newer looking coins to see if we can get a 2009 but it doesn't look like we're able to get one there either now let's just go ahead and open one more roll and then if we don't find anything in here we'll just kind of start to open these off camera and I will turn the camera back on once we find some good stuff but so we'll just get into one more roll here that looks kind of interesting right there might be older I think we have a Canadian right there oh that's gonna be an older one guys I don't think that's gonna fit into the collection but take a look at that this is something we don't typically see 1975 Canadian which means this is made out of 99.9% pure nickel and that is I believe the cost of the nickel that goes into this coin is going to be more valuable than the coin itself and you really have a difficult time finding these you typically find the newer ones in circulation but that is a great fine right there and it's actually gonna count for points on the scoreboard if you're familiar with that it's a way that we rate the boxes towards the end of the hunt so we'll definitely be putting that one to the side see what we have on that one it's not going to be any older anything interesting but guys let me know if you think that I missed something while going through these rolls I do get the the comments occasionally from time to time people telling me that I missed stuff and it definitely does happen so make sure to catch me I miss something here guys so we have a denver mint mark right there let's flip this one over and see if we're gonna get a a pre 60 school in here three two one ooh there we go guys 1955 that is not the one that you're looking for as far as 55s go like I said earlier I got the 1955 Philadelphia and that was a the fine of a lifetime for sure but this one is the 55 Denver and actually it looks like we do for some reason still need that in the collection I have it open to that page right there and you can see 55 Denver right there is still needed in the collection so very cool guys we'll definitely be putting that one in and we just filled another hole in the collection this has been a great box so far guys so I think that is about it for those first three role guys so I'll get it on the next one and I will turn the camera back on when I find something good alright guys so I just opened up the very next roll and this is way more of what I'm used to from coming out of this box I'm seeing some amazing stuff already just on first glance if you take a look over on this side I see an s Mint coin right there and then this one right here is a 1939 which is just about as old as you can possibly get in the Jefferson nickel series now if this 1939 has any mint mark whether it's a D or an S on it then that will be a much more rare and valuable coin than the P mint mark which is a no mint mark coin so we'll just go ahead and flip this one over and see if we're gonna get a mint mark on the right side of the Monticello on the reverse of this coin here and three two one okay so it doesn't look like we're gonna get a mint mark this time it's kind of what you expect when you get the 1939 s they are pretty plentiful in the Philadelphia mint mark but that is our second on the box we got one in the first half and we just got our second one right there now we have like I said we have an estimate coin right here and a lot of the low mintage and key day coins our estimates I think in particular we're looking for the 1949 s so let's hope we have that one right here but any really any date is is great for an estimate coin so let's just go ahead and flip this and see what we have here in 3 2 1 1951 guys those early 50s are difficult especially with an estimate mark I'm pretty sure this is gonna be at least a low mintage coin when we flip this over to the back of the placemat to check 1951 s that is definitely this is definitely the role that we should have opened live unfortunately we did not pick it when we were picking the rolls there to open live but it was the very next one and let's see if we're gonna get any more coins out of this one this one looks kind of old I'm not really sure though flip it over lad nope just in 1979 everyone can while you get fooled by them but that one kinda looks old as well it's just for the heck of it let's see what we get on this one a little closer up to the camera here 62 so yeah definitely have that older look to it but just a 62 we do not keep those alright so guys what I'm gonna do here is I'm going to dump these down below flip it over to the reverse side of the place from that and we'll take a look at our key date and low mintage ranges here you guys look at that I already saw guys key date 1951 s look at this guys this is the one that we just pulled out of this roll 1951 s is in the key date range below 10 million minted how cool is that and it's actually in pretty good shape as well so this is definitely one of the coins that we would have wanted to flip over when we saw an S there also like I said the 1949 s is in this range and then of course the 39 s and 38 s which hardly ever come up if I don't think I've ever found either one of those actually now that I think about it but 51 s guys that is definitely going into the collection today and if you take a look right here we got the 55 D earlier and now we have the 51 s I will get back to you guys in just a second with an official mintage number on that coin I know it's low as you can see little up 10 million so very cool guys let's get on to the next rule so we just got into the next role and we already have an interesting coin showing by the edge but real quickly just wanted to let you know the 1951 s comes in at about seven point seven seven million minted making it one of the rarest Jefferson nickels by far to find in the series now let's go ahead and take a look at this next roll here you can probably see the coin that I'm looking at here you can kind of identify by the edge I think this may be a war nickel but just in case let's go ahead and pull it out here and see what we have all right so it's not gonna be a war nickel very close though 1941 if it was 42 there you would have had a much better chance of it being a war nickel but you can tell that there's no silver content in that coin right there let's go ahead and flip it over and reveal that we have no mint mark on that coin but just a very nice old looking coin right there I'd love to see that kind of look on any coin and especially one that is that hold now actually guys look at this this was part of the role that I didn't even have open and we have another one that's shown by the edge here we might have another old one maybe a war nickel maybe not so sometimes they fool you on the edge that is just 2003 and under it is a 2016 let's go ahead and look through just real briefly the rest of the coins in this roll looks like we've got ourselves another Canadian right here flip this one over and see if we need that we are collecting the Canadian coins today as well so I don't think we need the 1989 we'll put that one to the side and check in a second here just to confirm that but let's go through the rest of these real quickly here and see if there's gonna be anything else I'm not seeing anything on initial inspection so guys I will flip over all those newer coins make sure we didn't miss any 2009's and we will get out of the next roll so just in case you're new here I wanted to quickly explain a little bit about these coin roll hunting placemats that I've been using throughout the video basically what this is is a coin roll hunting placement which I designed specifically for corner all hunting nickels as you can see you have the pictures of all the different coins that you could possibly find in a nickel roll across the front of it and then on the back side here we have a scoring system which we use to rate these boxes to kind of stack them up against each other no pun intended and then we also have these key date low mintage and low mintage buffalo nickel ranges which we've been using quite a bit in this box especially looking at that low mintage and key date jefferson range it's basically just a really handy resource to tell you kind of relatively what's worth what and then also what's rare and isn't and then of course the visuals on the front side are nice as well so guys if you want to pick these up for yourself you can head on over to my website at quince coins calm and I will be posting links down in the description below definitely check those out if you're interested in getting one of these for yourself with that being said let's go ahead and get right back into the hunt so once again guys this box is not disappointing we are on the very next roll right now and instead of playing the is it gonna be a 1951 or 49 we're gonna be playing is it going to be an S check this out guys we just got another 1951 and if we have an S on this one guys I don't even know what I'm gonna do I think even in the D and the P mint mark these coins are pretty difficult to find those early 50s in the 50 51 and 52 range are pretty difficult to find so let's go ahead and flip this one over and see where we're gonna get from it mark three two one okay so it is just a philadelphia which is probably going to be the most common but I can't complain guys another 1951 added to our collection and just real quickly yeah it looks like we do not need that one in the collection but it doesn't hurt to check for sure alright looks like we just got another older one right there 1956 and that is a denver pretty common coin come on right there so let's put that one to the side ooh look at that guys just telling you about the 50s and 51 s we just got a 1952 let's see what we're gonna get for this one guys three two one that is a denver mint mark so looking at the book real quick it looks like we do not need that one we do however need the 1952 s and I will have to flip over to the back side to see if this one ends up being a low mintage or not but so we'll just go ahead and check that out a second here once we get through the rest of these coins so let's see here don't see anything else that looks too old here so I think we're just going to go ahead and dump these in a second I'll look through these and then I'll get back to you in a sec and we'll check them in to John at 52 Denver alright guys so I'm about five rolls later and haven't really found anything in the last five rolls oddly enough it seems like it's really hit or miss with the rolls in this box but when you hit it's good and I think I might hit on this rule right here like I was saying earlier I was going to show you the mintage of the 1952 Denver and the reason I haven't done that yet is because I actually looked at this coin right here and you can kind of see that it just barely sticks out as possibly being an older coin I did pull it out and looked at the date and it looks like we have yet again another 1952 Denver so look at that guy's and if you're curious the mintage on this coin is 30 point 6 million so almost made it into that low mintage range but definitely a cool one to find nonetheless and a nice one to add to the collection there so all right so let's go through the rest of this role it looks like we may have some good coins in this one like I said the 52 Denver coming out is definitely a good sign here and it looks like I think we have an older one there and maybe one right there as well still looking for a Buffalo out of this box have not found one yet but definitely a lot of nice Jeffersons this is definitely gonna be older guys let's flip this one over in three two one nineteen forty-seven very cool very cool definitely gonna put that one to the side and wow that coin looks really nice I don't know what it is about it but definitely a nice strike right there let's see we have for a date on that one 67 alright I'll definitely take that one out just definitely interest me it's a nice looking coin so that I thought it was gonna be older it's just a 64 so we'll go through the rest of these and see if there's anything else here so far we got a 47 a 52 Denver and a pretty nice-looking 1967 which might end up being a keeper for me though alright that's it there well guys get it on the next one hopefully it's gonna be another hit so we are now down to just six rolls in the second half of this box I've been through about five more rolls and haven't found anything super interesting I'll show you just real briefly what we were able to find in those few rolls we got a bunch of 50s and 40s so 40 41 59 came up a couple of times and 58 57 basically just the kind of low tier older Jefferson is definitely so cool to pull out but nothing to write home about for sure in this particular roll right I did get a Canadian coin that we need in the collection I don't think it's rare by any means it's just a 2000 and it looks like it comes in at 105 million minted and apparently there is a 2000 P up there in Canada which it comes in at only four point nine million minted so that would definitely be the one to find I do not believe that this is it I don't see a P anywhere on that coin but real quickly just to show you the Canadian collection it turns out that this 1975 a 99.9% nickel nickel that we found earlier is actually gonna be able to go into that collection so if we look up here the collection starts in 1965 so that would be right after the young heads and the 75 right there is right there at 138 million so definitely not a difficult one to find and then here's the 2000 both of those which will be going into the collection guys like I said we have about six more rolls to go so hopefully we hit a good one and until then I will turn the camera back on once that happens all right guys we're down to just three rolls left now and the one that I just went through was actually pretty good we have one more coin that I want to look at in a second here but it turns out we got a forty one a forty nine both of which have no mint marks so they're from Philadelphia and then we got this 1956 which I actually didn't know I took a glance of the collection and I didn't think there was anything special about 56 or 56 Denver but for some reason if you take a look over here we actually need both of those in the collection so I took a look real quick at the 56 Denver and I think it has a mintage of like 67 million so nothing too special there except for the fact that we just haven't found that coin until now so we'll be putting that one in to the collection now and these other ones will go up here with all the other extras but the one that I wanted to basically why I stopped on this roll was this right here it came out right at the very end of the roll and it's in 1955 now if you guys remember from last episode we found a 1955 Philadelphia and that was just the fine of a lifetime if we're able to find two in this box I don't know what I'm gonna do but we're gonna flip this over and find out what we have here in three two one okay so just a Denver as spected on that one guys it's pretty unlikely that you're gonna find a 55 playin given that you get a 55 on the front but definitely we'll put that one to the side and like I said guys we have three more rolls to go so I will turn the camera back on once we find something good alright guys so we are on the very next roll now and I open this one up and saw a couple of different coins that caught my eye first of all you're gonna see this coin that looks completely different from everything else that's because that's a foreign coin right there it looks like it's going to be a Mexican coin and then also on this side over here there's a dark edge which I initially thought was a warning but it looks like it's probably not going to be we'll get to that one in a second though I want to look at this foreign edge here first of all and take a look and see what kind of coin we have so it says Estados Unidos mexicanos I'm not sure if I pronounced that correctly but this is probably gonna be okay so it looks like it's gonna be one peso 2016 and I don't know the conversion rate on that I'll go ahead and throw it up on the screen right now so you guys know what that's worth in USD but definitely kind of a cool coin to find I don't think it's quite worth a nickel though unfortunately so I guess we'll find out but let's go ahead and go through the rest of this roll real quickly we'll just kind of work our way towards that darker edge coin right there so we've got a denver mint mark right there it's just a 1964 though it looks like this one's definitely gonna be a good role for us guys as you can see right there a 1941 popped up and I think that's probably the most common of the older Jefferson nickels that is coming out of this box so far so 1941 we'll just add that to the pile right there and then let's see what else we got got another Denver Mint mark right there it's just gonna be a 64 though unfortunately and this one looks kind of older I don't know I guess it could be could not be 62 okay so not something that we're going to keep but at this point guys we are at that darker edge right there and it looks like it might end up being an older coin maybe in a fire I'm not really sure but let's go ahead and flip this one over and see what we have so 1975 okay so it's not anything old or interesting there for us looks like we have two more chances though for some old coins in this roll see we have here 1970 and then finally this actually I think it's definitely gonna be an older coin it's got like a booger on or something there it's kind of gross but let's go and flip this one over in three two one no way guys look at that that is a 1938 and I could tell by looking at that eight is completely different from the 58 in the 48 guys check that out we just got the very first Jefferson nickel in the Jefferson nickel series what in the world guys 1938 unfortunately there is no mint mark on this coin but it really doesn't matter guys I find these very seldom even against like fifty ones and forty nine asses stuff like that I do not find these 1938 and if we flip this over I already happen to know that this is a low mintage coin the very first Jefferson nickel in the Jefferson nickel series right they're so difficult to find especially with the mint mark and that's not what we got today but guys I am just ecstatic to see that you do not see this day come up very often and in a weird roll nonetheless with that that looks like a Mexican peso came in the roll so let's go ahead and flip the placemat over here and we will go to the backside so that I can show you that the 38 as you can see if you get a D or an S it's in the key date range very well into the key day we range by the way those are the most difficult coins to find some of the most difficult quantifying in the series but you can see right here 1938 falls into that low mintage below 25 million minted range and that is the coin that we found very very cool guys we have two more rolls to go so I don't think that one's gonna be beat though hopefully hopefully for a buffalo nickel but I don't think we're gonna get any older than the 38 in here so just very cool to find that guys let's go ahead and get out of the next roll so we were in the very next roll now still kind of shaken from that 1938 fine such a cool coin to find and just on the off chance that we have the rare one I've actually gone through this roll already but I did find this 1949 with the obverse showing and I just wanted to flip this just in case we get the S on this one just to round off this box is probably one of the best boxes that I have and so let's see if we get the S here guys three two one nope it's just gonna be a 1949 Philadelphia no MIT mark on the right side of that Monticello so why don't we go ahead and just jump into this last role live just to see if we get anything and just to kind of send off this you know amazing box hopefully we can pull a warm nickel out of here we didn't get any in the second half so far and I'm also hoping that this doesn't end up being one of those duds that that just produces nothing for us but I guess we're just going to go ahead and flip through it real quickly here I'm not really seeing anything on first glance so it might end up being a dud but I think we might have been kind of an older coin it looks a little bit older here it's got a denver mint mark see what we got for that one nope just in 1964 fooled again and I don't know we'll see if there's anything else here but it kind of looks like that's gonna be the end of this one guys and of course guys looking out for those 2009 s I still do need one of the 2009 s in the collection and they're very difficult to find but with that being said guys that is the end of this box so why don't we go ahead and jump into the wrap-up and it's gonna be one heck of a wrap-up alright guys so welcome to the wrap-up on this amazing box definitely the highest score that we've had in the series so far and I challenge you to see if you can get a higher score using the point system that we're using on the back of this placemat today I'd love to see it if you guys have higher definitely down in the comments below so let's go ahead and just start up here with our 50s Jeffersons as you can see we get just about every single year except for that 1950 which is very difficult to find we got 51 52 53 a whole bunch of 54 s got a 55 56 58 58 seriously one that we find pretty easily but didn't get to money today and then 58 and a bunch of 59 s as well so those at two points a piece we got 22 of them so that's 44 points right there now for the 40's you can take a look right here we got our 1940 a whole bunch of 40 ones actually if you look at it this way you can see that that's probably the highest pile head that we have on the place map there and then we skip up to 1946 because the 42 through 45 war nickels and we did get three of those but they all went into the collection so 46 is 47 48 and 49 now coming down to the 1930s we were actually able to get to 1939 Jefferson nickels and those are worth five points apiece so all of that together already puts us well above a hundred points on this box but we're not done yet guys if you take a look at this these are actually all the different coins that went into the collections during this box so as you can see we got three war nickels we were actually able to get two key dates one in the first episode and one in today's episode we got that 1951 s and then the other one was a 55 plane but if you look at this guy's we've got a bunch of key dates Wars moments as well the 38 included and all of that totaling up as well as we uh we got one form for it here which was a 1 peso coin all of that totals up to two hundred and fifty seven points so like I said guys if you have a better box make sure to put it down in the comments below I would love to hear about it now I figured since so much has changed in the collection I'd give you a quick look at it so just this first page here is still looking pretty sparse mainly because of this war nickel page which I'm definitely having issues finding we did get three in this box the 42 P 44 P and 45s but that still didn't put much of a dent in that that war Nichols section there which is still going to be pretty difficult to find of course up here in this top section the 38 and 39 s with mint marks are very difficult to find so that would explain that as well and then some of these other coins down here we're just haven't found them yet but that will keep looking for them for sure so then on this page right here guys this is the page we definitely filled up the most during this box you can see it's almost completely full except for those 49 s 50 50 D and then of course the 52 s which we've been looking for 54 s and then for some reason we still don't have 56 either but I'm sure that we will be finding those soon and then of course if you look through the rest of this collection it has been full for quite a while except for a 2009 which we are still missing and death on the lookout for those 2009's have been very difficult though on this go-around so guys while I was filling the book here looking at these 46 is I thought that seemed kind of weird that we were still missing the 46 d so I actually went into the pile of 46 s I had I had five of them and four of them were playing but it turns out that one of them is actually the 1946 Denver so in a weird turn of events for the first time ever I'm actually retro actively putting this coin into the collection because for some reason I missed it on the first go-around so 1946 D was another coin that we added to the collection today unfortunately that one is not a low mintage or a key date so it didn't count for any extra points but it is gonna be going the collection and this is definitely you know a really good box for putting coins in the collection especially this far into this series so guys once again if you're interested in
