that whenever the labrador retriever would just lie beside the bowl he waited until the master came because he knew that if the master seen him lying beside the bowl that he had a need that need to be met i'm just wanting to encourage somebody that if you have a need this morning just get beside the bowl if you have a need this morning just praise the lord a little bit if you have a need this give please continue to support the ministry that god tells us in the book of corinthians first corinthians chapter 16 that man should give according to how god has prospered them and i want to encourage all of you that in order for the ministry and the efforts of this fine family of faith to continue to go forth they need your continual support so please my brothers please my sisters take this opportunity as you have come to be able to give god what belongs to him in our tithes and if god has been real real good to you you ought to give him an offering as well let every heart say man please my brothers and my sisters at this time take this moment to have given again to the pilgrimage missionary baptist church family and i will give my offering as well in compliance to lead by example there is a scripture that's printed for your reading that it says in luke 6 38 give and it shall be given unto you good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom for with the same measure that ye shall meet with all it shall be measured to you again and there's a scripture that i say for all of us in the convictions of tithing malachi 3 and 10 says bring the tides to the storehouse that there may be meat in god's house prove him now said the lord of hosts he'll open for you the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that you'll have room enough to receive and i know i got somebody who's viewing us right now that if you feel like you ran out of room just ask god to make more room god bless you as our prayer my brothers and my sisters we're preparing to go forward in advance in the worship ministry of the pilgrimage family i want to say thank you again to the praise team i want to say thank you again to pastor ellis for entrusting this responsibility uh to us at this time for you are deeply in our hearts and we forever cherish your mentorship we thank god again for the fine leaders of this beautiful family and to brother chairman and brother webb and all of those who greeted us uh in our coming in we thank you for receiving my sons and i we are really really grateful to all of you i want to call your attention to the book of luke chapter 13. but i want to get a little jitters out of me because even now i still get nervous as i preach and so i want to continue the spirit of pastor alice as i know that he would and i would and i know that you all have capable musician staff uh over here that's more than able to be with us and follow us now i'm asking brother ren over there because there's a famous r b or blues artist that i know who carries an axe with him by the name of lucille and i want you to be able to play that thing today so that the folk can feel like it's church if you're ready to have church this morning all the more just type in there and say i'm ready to have church or like a heart but grandmother would sing a song that i can recall 20 years ago at the age of 15 and granddaddy would start it off and grandmamma would pick it up grandma will say i'm so glad [Music] always [Music] [Applause] in place channel right [Music] my there's one more verse that grandmother would say i know everybody out there notice listen hush [Music] hush somebody's calling my name oh [Music] please [Music] somebody come on let's take it on home [Music] i found jesus in time oh shall i do [Music] luke chapter 13 verse 6-9 luke 13 6-9 this is what it says he spake also this parable a certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard he came and sought fruit thereon and found none then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard behold these three years i come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none so cut it down why cometh it the ground he answered and said unto him lord let it alone this year also till i shall dig about it and dung it and if it bear fruit well and if not then after that thou shall cut it down god bless you my brothers and my sisters the grass withers the flower fadeth but the word of our lord will stand forever i want to talk briefly from this thought in god's time in god's time here it is my brothers and my sisters when considering this parable of luke chapter 13. i can't help but put my sanctified imagination together to conjure up that one day an investor was looking for a piece of land because he took an interest in vegetation one day he purchased some land that caught his eye he invested in a fig tree and he planted this fig tree in the land or vineyard that he's purchased and due to the work that required of him and that was necessary for the maintenance of this fig tree this owner and investor invested in a vine dresser so that it would not take from him being responsible outside of caring for this fig tree and although he wanted every facet of his ownership to prosper he took great pride in making sure that this fig tree had everything that it needed in order to prosper as well and i believe my brothers and my sisters as we peruse the text and put on our imaginations i believe that in the first year of this fig tree that the owner the proprietor the investor exemplified patients with anticipation of progress being evidence in its produce i believe that this owner maintained hope that manifested because of his inspiration and he was full of excitement but then again the second year rose around and there were still no figs on the tree and i just believed brother chairman brother zach that this man exemplified a shrug to his shoulders that he said well if i've invested in it i got to take some more time with it and i believe that the owner said no biggie but the vine dresser still worked and the tree was still there and i believe that the that the owner still had patience still had hope and still had excitement but my brothers and my sisters when we consider these four verses it says that the man came a third time and when the third year rolls around the man that was once patient the man that was once hopeful the man that was once excited all that has now gone out the door that the owner has now become frustrated because of his disappointment but nevertheless despite his frustration despite his disappointment the owner is still there divine dresser is still there and the tree is still there and i can be a witness today to tell all of us that even when we don't do what god tells us to do that we ought to thank god that we're still here even though we are not everything that god wants us to be you ought to say i thank god that i'm still here and even if you're not obedient in every facet of ministry and in the faith you ought to say i thank god that he's still on the throne sitting high and looking down low but unfortunately my brother and my sisters the owner's hope has become questionable his patience seems unmanageable his excitement now seems uninteresting all because there is no fruit and my brothers and my sisters i want to tell all of us that we can have all the hope in the world we can have all the excitement in the world we can have all the patience in the world but disappointments can still come first corinthians chapter 13 says now about it faith hope charity and the greatest of these is charity and i am not preaching a gospel that makes you think we live in a utopia but i want to let you know that the scriptures declare that man that's born of a woman is of a few days and those days are full of trouble you can go to church every sunday you can give tithes and offerings every week you can tune in to bible study and sunday school every week you can go to work every day but don't you know that disappointments will still come the truth of the matter is my brothers and my sisters that i believe in my imagination that this owner began to question everything he began to question his investments in the land he began to question his investment in the ground he'd begin to question his investment in the fig tree he began to question his investment in the vine dresser and i'll stop by to tell you my brothers and my sisters that this owner could have very well said well i might as well cut my losses and keep on moving because the ground that i invested in could it be that it was no good could it be that i need to cut my loss with the fig tree that it was no good or could it be that i could cut my loss with the vine dresser that he really did not know what he was doing but i want to suggest to you my brothers and my sisters that when circumstances as such come that when disappointments come when despair comes when discouragement comes don't just look through the lens of your own eyes but look through the eyes of others who've also has been affected by the same circumstance that i just believe that divine dresser could have thought to themself i tried everything i could i got all the knowledge that i know that's necessary to be fruitful and to be productive i just don't know what could have happened as to why this fruit is not fruit showing fruition on this fig tree could it be that you can come from the perspective of the fig tree that the fig tree could have very well said i don't know what's wrong with me i'm planted i could be in good ground but i don't know my brothers and my sisters i come to suggest to you that when you live this life understand that life is not just centered around you that others are affected in accordance to how you live and i stopped by to tell you my brothers and my sisters whether the white house is playing games or not don't know how long this coronavirus will stay amongst the land or not but i come to tell you that everybody has been affected i know there are pastors all over the world uh and i know everybody that turns around is thinking and used to count how many folk were in their assembly sunday morning but the pandemic has made it possible that nobody got nobody in the sanctuary now that all of us are on an even level ground and all of us are on the same playing field that all of us are striving for the same thing that god has us in a position where we cannot be pressured to perform but we ought to be programmed to preach i thank god for the pandemic i don't have to worry about folk not singing who don't want to sing because they're not leading the songs i don't have to worry about folks who roll in their eyes now and sitting there like a bump on the log because you don't like the preacher that's preaching my brothers and my sisters you are not my audience but god is the author and finisher of my faith i wish i had some help in here that even though you sitting looking at the screen you ought to say right now where i am in my living room in my sofa and where i am in my bedroom god is my audience anybody out here can say i could thank the lord right here where i am [Music] here it is the owner very well could have doubted his investments divine dresser could have doubted his expertise the tree could have very well felt like a failure but i want to tell you that everything happens in god's time there are three things that we can learn in god's time the first thing i want to share with you is number one god is a keeper look at verse number seven of luke chapter 13 then sit here until the dresser of his vineyard behold these three years i come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none cut it down why come with it the ground and here it is my prison my sisters i want to submit to us today that the owner of the vineyard personifies god that divine dresser of the vineyard personifies god and what makes god i feel like preaching him here today what makes god a keeper is us realizing let's catch this that god is responsible for our placement and our replacing you'll get that as you sit there a little longer the fig tree even though it was determined by the owner to cut it down in verse number seven it lets us know that the vine dresser comes on the scene and the fact that the fig tree survived three years of being fruitless lets us know that god is a keeper that god's patience supersedes our problems despite our failure to produce this is a big deal my brothers and my sisters help me holy ghost because just like the owner and the vine dresser god saw god sees god has seen the potential in all of us and i know what all of us on the screen have been guilty of saying at some point in our lives you know when we don't want to change we say be patient with me god ain't through with me yet but i'm sad to report that many of us fail to realize that we have used it as a crutch to keep from changing because many of us really don't want to change and many of us don't have any intention on changing but the blessing about it is that the reason that i could shout today is because god is a keeper that when i don't want to change he still kept me when i could not change he still kept me when i needed more time to change he still kept me is there anybody in here that could be a witness this morning and could say i thank god for the patience of god because i should be dead sleeping in my grave i should be strung out on crack cocaine i should be out on my on the street i should not have a roof over my head but god is a keeper [Music] what i love about it my brothers and my sisters what makes god so patient with you is because just like marvin sapp he sees the best in you and don't allow excuses to keep you from being exceptional my brothers and my sisters don't allow why you have not loved your neighbors as you love yourself to keep you from the blessings of god do not allow not forgiving folk to keep you from being experiencing the blessings of god i come to tell you as i tell north shore all the time god won't punish you for how people treat you but god will punish you for how you treat people and is there anybody in here that can be a witness to say that i decided to stay in the ark and safety of god not only is god a keeper but secondly i know some of y'all on the screen are wrestling because you're trying to get to your biscuits and gravy but let me go ahead and tell you secondly god knows what we need god is a keeper number one but secondly god knows what we need look at verse number eight he answering said unto him lord let it alone this year till i shall dig about it and done it in order to experience needs being met we must be humble if you want blessings from god you must be humble sister baldwin he shows us in verse number eight brother buckner if i was to imagine again the owner and the vine dresser is having a conversation the owner says cut it down but then the vine justice says leave it alone one more year and while the owner is having a conversation with the vine dresser the tree ain't saying nothing can i tell you my resume sisters we can learn a lesson from this tree because the truth of the matter is many of us have talked ourselves out of blessings because we talk too much many of us have forfeit some blessings because we always got something to say but look at the tree that while the owner is talking and the vine dressing is talking the tree ain't doing nothing but standing still and seeing the salvation of the lord y'all looking but you ain't listening come here a little closer i come to tell you that we serve a god that if you learn to just live in his presence and sometimes don't say nothing god will intercede on your behalf what are you saying brother preacher that the owner displays the anger of god but the vine dresser displays the advocacy of god that god is so powerful that god will talk to himself about you and say i'll give them another chance and as i look around here in this sanctuary and look on this screen i'm looking at at least a hundred folks that could type that god gave me another chance here it is my brothers and my sisters i'm harrying up y'all maurice i'm trying to get there but here it is see we just assess needs for the moment if that tree brother buckner would have spoken up i believe the tree would have talked himself out of a blessing for the future because he was just focused on the right now and i come to tell you god knows what you need because he took and is taken into consideration your past your present and the prophetic what are you saying brother preacher now for all my theologians that are viewing this you do know that the fig tree is symbolic of the jewish people that jesus shows us that because of the defiance and the disobedience and the negligence of the jews the jews begin to get stuck up and think that they were entitled because they were god's chosen people but that was the past but during the timing of the context of scripture i thank god for the present because jesus shows us that he came not just for the jews but he came to bridge the gap between the past and the prophetic that he came to praise the gap between the jews and the gentiles and i come to tell you my presence and my sisters for all of us who make up the the pilgrim rest family for all of us who make up the north star family we are the gentiles and we could thank god that god did not die just for the jews but he died for every last one of us anybody in here could say i thank god that he didn't die just for the entitled but he died for the ex and my brothers and my sisters all of us are at something ex-liars ex-steelers ex-fornicators ex-adulterers ex-thieves i'm coming down your alley in just a minute ex-drunkards ex-alcoholics ex-dope dealers god has transformed us because of the past the present and the prophetic why do you say that because god in the upcoming future of the prophetic will turn that x into a cross that we'll be able to say at the cross at the cross where we first saw the light and the burning of our heart rolls away but but here it is i got to go here it is but god knows what we need divine dresser says give them another year that's more time but then he says i'll dig around it and i'll add done to it let me tell you why i shouted in my second point in my private study because god extended yeah some more time to us even when he declared damnation on us that we are not producing fruit as we should there are folk who've been in the church 40 years and still got a low down heart there are folk who've been in the church for 20 years and still don't know how to treat folk right but god gives us more time i know what some of you may say who may be over the age of friday and may say reverend i'm too old to change but can i tell you every day above ground is another opportunity that if you didn't get it right yesterday god gave you another chance to get it right today but let me show you how he works on your marius and then i move it to my third point he says i'll dig around it in order for you to produce fruit as you should in order for you to be fruitful as you should he says i'll dig around it and that word dig means to move some earth it means that which has become hard can now be shaken and i want to suggest to you my brothers and my sisters that we serve a god that if you become too stale in him if you become too stiff in him god will break up some ground that's in your life that he'll break up that jealousy he'll break up that strife he'll break up that envy he'll break up that back biting that though you'll be able to say the old things i used to do i can't do it no more but then check this out he says i add dung to it d-u-n-g and this is what it says that ain't nothing but feces or horse maneuver and i come to tell you my brothers and my sisters god steals a lot of opportunity for us to grow because what he shows us in verse number eight is sometimes he'll use a mess to bring bob out a miracle and i have to tell you somebody that you are not hear me good you are not ask god to get rid of your enemies you are not ask god to get rid of your haters because what god will do is use the mess of your haters and your enemy to make your haters your motivators as well as your elevators is there anybody know that knows that god will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies that surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life that you may dwell in the house of the lord forever finished but not only god is a keeper not only god knows what we need but finally trust god's decision look at verse number nine if you will and if it bear fruit well and if not then after that thou shalt cut it down now god can make us do what he wants us to do god can force us to do what he wants us to do but i'm under the strong conviction that rather than making us and rather than forcing us god would rather we grow into what he wants us to do here it is remember my sisters revelation chapter 3 verse 20 says behold i stand at the door and knock and if any man will let me come in i will come in and suck with them and he with me and here it is my brothers and my sisters when we allow ourselves to grow into what god wants us to do we'll be able to appreciate the journey and realizing that if it had not been for the lord who was on our side we wouldn't be where we are right now here it is my brothers and my sisters understand that if we know how to produce fruit if we don't produce fruit destruction will come but if we do produce fruit deliverance will come for we serve a god who has the power of preservation and punishment in his hand and when god makes the decision don't question god but look at your own life for luke chapter 6 verse 43-45 paints the picture for us that a tree is known by the fruited bears in my mind since the baldwin goes back to where the old church would sing a song it's nobody's fault but mine if i die today and my soul be lost it's nobody's fault but mine good morning pilgrim rest may the lord bless you real good but on my way back down madison avenue hanging right on north dakota bearing left on french street i stopped by to tell somebody that we ought to trust god's decision know that god will never put more on you than you are able to bear and i stopped by this morning to encourage somebody if you need more love god will give you some more time if you need more forgiveness god will give you some more time if you need more long suffering god will give you some more time because everything will happen in god's time and i don't want you to leave here thinking because you have not
