rejoicing now in the restored glory of our adoption we may look forward in confident hope to the rejoicing of the day of resurrection through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god for ever and ever amen [Music] a reading from the acts of the apostles peter said to the people the god of abraham the god of isaac and the god of jacob the god of our fathers has glorified his servant jesus whom you handed over and denied in pilate's presence when he had decided to release him you denied the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released to you the author of life you put to death but god raised him from the dead of this we are witnesses now i know brothers that you acted out of ignorance just as your leaders deem but god has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets that his christ would suffer repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be wiped away the word of the lord thanks be to god lord let your face shine on us lord let your face shine on us when i call answer me o my just god you who relieve me when i am in distress have pity on me and hear my prayer lord let her face shine on us know that the lord does wonders for his faithful one the lord will hear me when i call upon him lord let your face shine on us oh lord let the light of your countenance shine upon us you put gladness into my heart lord let your face shine on us as soon as i lie down i fall peacefully asleep for you alone o lord bring security to my dwelling lord let your face shine on us a reading from the first letter of saint john my children i am writing this to you so that you may not commit sin but if anyone does sin we have an advocate with the father jesus christ the righteous one he is expiation for our sins and not for our sins only but for those of the whole world the way we may be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments those who say i know him but do not keep his commandments are liars and the truth is not in them but whoever keeps his word the love of god is truly perfected in him the word of the lord thanks be to god ah [Music] lord jesus open the scriptures to us make our hearts burn while you speak to us [Music] the lord be with you and with your spirit a reading from the holy gospel according to you glory to you o lord the two disciples recounted what had taken place on the way and how jesus was made known to them in the breaking of the bread while they were still speaking about this he stood in their midst and said to them peace be with you but they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost then he said to them why are you troubled and why do questions arise in your hearts look at my hands and my feet that it is i myself touch me and see because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see i have and as he said this he showed them his hands and his feet while they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed he asked them have you anything here to eat they gave him a piece of baked fish he took it and ate it in front of them he said to them these are my words that i spoke to you while i was still with you that everything written about me in the law of moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures and he said to them thus it is written that the christ would suffer and rise from the dead in the third day and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name to all the nations beginning from jerusalem you are witnesses of these things the gospel of the lord praise to you lord jesus christ ignorance is the lack of knowledge or the lack of understanding to be ignorant therefore means that one knows little or nothing about something igb my dear brothers and sisters we have to admit that in one way or the other we are all ignorant because the truth is we do not know everything and we cannot know everything [Music] that is why ignorance is not at all bad but it is not always good hindi not impeding us [Music] what is really dangerous is when we act out of to act out of ignorance is very dangerous we can see this in our first reading today peter in our first reading accuses the jews because they handed over jesus and denied him in pilate's presence peter accuses the jews because they asked the release of a murderer barabbas and they asked for the crucifixion of jesus [Music] that is why saint peter said you put to death the author of life and yet it is it is quite surprising that peter also said but i know brothers that you acted out of ignorance just as your leaders did as if peter was saying if only you understand the teachings of jesus and if you only understood and believed in him you would not have asked for his death hindi [Music] acting out of ignorance and when we act out of ignorance we could be judgmental we could be condemnatory we could even be violent we could put people to death out of ignorance foreign when we act out of ignorance we could easily judge condemn hurt abuse and even kill a person there is another possible effect of acting out of ignorance and this we could see in our gospel today jesus appeared to his disciples and the disciples were terrified they were afraid and they thought that jesus was a ghost sahara you see my dear brothers and sisters when you do not understand everything you become afraid and anxious when you do not know everything you feel insecure you feel terrified not in allah for example last night i was watching the news and i was quite surprised that there were still many people who refused to be vaccinated why because they do not believe in vaccination in the vaccines maybe because they were not properly educated or because they were misinformed [Music] many times our fears are based on our ignorance my dear brothers and sisters because of the ignorance of the disciples of jesus jesus did many things in order to remove their ignorance [Music] he showed them his hands and his feet he even asked for food and ate baked fish in front of them and he explained to them everything in the scriptures that referred to himself jesus did all these in order for his disciples to know to understand and to believe that he is truly risen jesus did all this in order to remove ignorance from his disciples so that they may believe in him my dear brothers and sisters how many times have we acted out of ignorance [Music] [Music] how many times have we acted out of ignorance and how many times have we placed ourselves and other people in a compromising situation only because of our ignorance and how about our relationship with god do we really know jesus do we really understand jesus or are we ignorant of him [Music] [Music] in our second reading today tells us the way we can be sure that we know him is to keep his commandments those who say i know him but do not keep his commandments are liars and the truth is not in them but whoever keeps his word the love of god is truly perfected in him is [Music] these are the ways through which we can know if we really know jesus you know my dear brothers and sisters there are many people who claim to know jesus because they can talk about jesus they could explain the teachings of jesus they can explain the doctrines of the church they know everything about theology about god but that is not really the measure of really knowing god who really knows jesus the one who follows him you know my dear brothers and sisters as a priest i spent more or less four years studying theology and every day as i prepare for my homily the following day i engage in studying the word of but you know i have to admit that the best theology the best lessons about god that i learned did not come from books from the classroom but from the very lives of the people who trust [Music] um [Music] and yet they will always say but father i trust in god god has better plans for us god knows what is best for us you could see how deep is their trust in god and that is knowledge of him for how could you trust someone who do you who you do not know kitan kita ko sabuhito and that is true theology that is through knowledge about god knowledge that leads them to trust god knowledge that teaches them to follow jesus in loving and sharing for one to one another and young there is a saying that goes people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care maybe we could also say people don't care about how much you know about jesus until they know how much you care how much you share and how much you love like jesus let us all together profess our faith i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there he will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting amen as we hear his word in the scriptures our hearts burn within us with a longing for god's presence with this easter hope let us express our needs in prayer and for every petition let us say lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer that those who teach in the church will remain faithful to the gospel of repentance and forgiveness let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that leaders of the church government and industry will work together to provide food employment and justice let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that those who are dying may know the peace of the risen christ let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that we may understand why christ had to suffer and on the third day rise from the dead let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that christ our advocate with the father will bring the dead to eternal glory let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer let us pray in silence for our personal petitions let us remember the people who need our prayers and the intentions offered in this mass almighty god and father we ask you to grant these prayers through your recent son the glorious prince of peace living and reigning forever and ever amen [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] me is pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may become acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church receive o lord we pray these offerings of your exalted church and as you have given her cause for such great gladness grant also that the gifts we bring may bear fruit in perpetual happiness through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our jute and our salvation at all times to acclaim you o lord but in this time above all to load you yet more gloriously when christ our passover has been sacrificed he never ceases to offer himself for us but defends us and ever pleads our cause before you is the sacrificial victim who dies no more the lamb once laid who lives forever therefore overcome with paschal joy every land every people exults in your praise and even the heavenly powers with angelic hosts sing together the unending hymn of your glory as they acclaim [Music] [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] foreign you are indeed holy o lord and all you have created rightly gives you praise for through your son our lord jesus christ by the power and working of the holy spirit you give life to all things and make them holy and you never cease to gather a people to yourself so that from the rising of the sun to its setting a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name therefore o lord we humbly implore you by the same spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration that they may become the body and blood of your son our lord jesus christ tattoos command we celebrate these mysteries for on the night he was betrayed he himself took bread and giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chance and giving you thanks he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] [Applause] i [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] therefore oh lord as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your son his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven and as we look forward to his second coming we offer you with thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice look we pray upon the oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself grant that we who are nourished by the blood and blood of your son and filled with his holy spirit may become one body one spirit in christ may he make of us an eternal offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect especially with the most blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs and with all the saints on this constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help may the sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray o lord advance the peace and salvation of all the world be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth with your servant francis our pope and broderick our administrator the order of bishops all the clergy and the entire people you have gained for your own listen graciously to the prayers of this family whom you have summoned before you in your compassion o merciful father gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world to our departed brothers and sisters and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life give kind admittance to your kingdom there we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory through christ our lord through whom you bestow on the world all that is good through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to pray [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope in the coming of ours save your jesus christ [Music] [Music] lord jesus christ who said to your apostles
