brought me out to a place of freedom he saved me because he delighted in me in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen the grace of our lord jesus christ and the love of god and the communion of the holy spirit be with you all and with your spirit every morning when we stand at this altar we remember we recall the steadfast love of the lord never ceases it is fresh every morning every morning god is waiting to shower his new graces upon us this morning as we begin this day we claim this promise for all the graces the lord has in store for us and our prayer is that we may be able to respond to those graces and make this day grace filled but we know in the past we have not been able to respond to god's call we lost the graces offered to us and we want to ask god's pardon together i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary of aversion all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty you see the speck that is in your body's eye but do not notice the long that is in your own eye how can you say to your brother brother let me take out the spec that is in your eye when you yourself do not see the long that is in your own eye you hypocrite first take the lung out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's side for no good tea pretend not to see and that's what jesus is telling us in the gospel today unfortunately in every one of us there is a hypocrisy a pretension to close the eyes against our own faults to close the eye against my own fault is a decision it is a deliberate decision not to be saved it's a curse therefore a condemnation that's what jesus said john 3 19 this is the curse light came into the world and men and women chose darkness if only we opened the unsaved areas of our life to the lord to the light all these dark areas will be enlightened and we will be saved but we pretend not to see these locks in our own eyes all the time trying to correct the little mistakes the specs in the behavior of others we are really eager to find fault with others find fault with others in order to cover up our own faults and that covering up is a decision not to be saved say for example i have a problem of hot temper i take it for granted yes i am hot tempered what can i do about it as a person told me once till seven o'clock i'm a gentleman after that i have to drink that's a habit i cannot say no to the bottle even if i say no to the bottle i will not be able to hold out to that decision i know i'm hurting my family i'm hurting my children but i cannot say no to the bottle a person who revealed to me i have an unholy affair only my wife knows about it she's so terribly sad and angry about it we have no marriage life but i don't want to come out of that unholy affair the tears angry words of my wife are falling on deaf ears or take any other area of our life we close our eyes too and that means we take for granted i am hard tempered i have a drinking problem i have an unholy affair what can i do about it it is like this it will remain like that this is the curse it's a condemnation [Music] you and i could be living in and yet we could be responsible people parents teachers priests or whoever we could be people having the mission to guide others there's a big lock in our eyes and people know that no wonder our leadership is not credible a father shouting at the children who make mistakes the son or daughter could be murmuring dad first you change yourself then ask me to change our words are not credible and therefore changes are not happening anger mounting in our families and everywhere now it's here that the lord is offering something beautiful if only you opened your heart to me if only you offered your burdens to me if only you confessed your sins to me a god who is waiting to save us the name of our god who came down as man is jesus and that means god saves again and again in the bible the lord shows us nothing is impossible to god a god for whom nothing is impossible my drinky habit my heart timber or whatever other unholy habit i have unholy relationship i could be living in unsaved area of my life dark patches of my life if only i confessed if only i offered it to my god every such area would be lit up would be saved rather we choose to close our eyes and pretend nothing is wrong with me and imagine i can command others christian leadership at every level is lacking credibility today we want to take this invitation of the lord soon we are entering into land very holy season whole church waiting upon god to be saved we need to make a very honest soul-searching in this land what is it that i want god to change in my life true i can't change i may have tried and failed my failures and defeats should not discourage me but god is waiting god is offering to change jesus said repent that means turn to me confess surrender with the firm determination the surrender to give my life in the hands of god is that determination lacking do i imagine i need something other than god to be happy in life do i imagine god is enough for me if i know god is enough for me i will not cling on to anything other than god if i know god is enough for me i will not cling on to my drinking habit i will not cling out to my hot temper i will not cling on to anything unholy in my life i do not trust in god no wonder there's so much of unhappiness in my heart there's so much of distrust in god god is not able to act in my life god is not able to use me to be a good father to be a good mother god is not able to carry out the mission the lord has sent me to the world for today the lord is inviting us to trust in him and surrender every dark patch of our heart that god may enlighten us that god may save us that experience of salvation will give credibility to our words to our leadership in our families and wherever we are amen let us respond together to god's word every time we come to this altar we profess we proclaim i believe in god that means god is my salvation god is sufficient for me when god is there for me i am full from the fullness of my life it's god alone that i need and whatever i need god will bring it all to me we proclaim it once again today i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there he will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins with great confidence in the love of god that has offered to come every need every concern of our heart not only our personal needs the needs of the church the needs of the whole world the size and cries of humanity let us bring it all to the lord after every invocation you may respond lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer lord we offered to you the terrible situation in ukraine let the world leaders understand violence injustice in humanity and cruelty is no answer is no permanent answer for anything let the world leaders arise to support the cause of justice of a nation lord send your spirit into the suffering humanity in ukraine family separated and people living in terror let your holy spirit come down to them to face this terrible situation that there be a solution to this problem war is not a solution that all the leaders understand and come around a table to wait upon you o god to give them a solution we pray to you o god lord hear our prayer we offer to you all the countries in the world where there is violence war cruelty let peace and reconciliation prevail among peoples and nations we pray to you o lord lord hear our prayer we offer to you all the sick people the pandemic we offer to you all the medical personnel we offer to you the people who are losing their faith in you o god that they may turn to you and find their answer in your love we pray to you lord lord hear our prayer lord we offer to you our families that our families may be united in love and peace we pray to you o lord lord hear our prayer response for a moment and pray for the church holy father pope francis a bishop cardinal malcolm ranchod all the bishops in the world and present religious and lay leaders that the church may remain as a sign of salvation instrument of reconciliation that the church may bring hope to everyone in distress we pray to you o lord lord hear our prayer all our prayers we bring to you increase our faith in you o god even when everything is going wrong around us that we may believe that you are in control we make our prayer through christ our lord amen [Music] [Music] unlocked the gates of heaven and so with the company of angels and saints we sing the hymn of your praise as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy oh lord the fond of full holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like that you fall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to
